truth be told when the world cup starts we should be wary of the dark arts of football.. European teams are good at it.
That's just the plain truth.

Italy also took out Amuneke and Amokachi to beat Nigeria.

Nigeria also did that once. With Nigeria being one man down Bright Omakaro took out an Algerian player, after they had made all their substitutions, just to make the number of players on the pitch 10-10. Nigeria went ahead to win it via penalties.
As beautiful as football is, it is not a gentleman's game.

Sir, through out your followership of the game, have you ever seen a team that won fair play award win the cup in the same tournament? If so, does it happen often?

I'm so much disappointed as you are. I supported Liverpool through out the match.

It is a bitter and very sad moment seeing your best player been injured intentionally. But you need to look at the larger picture. Teams do a lot of things that might not be fair to the opponent to edge their opponents. This is not the first time it will happen and it won't be the last.
Italy took out Henry and Zidane in 2006 before they could win the WORLD CUP. France took out Onazi so as to get edge over us. Neymar, and so on.

We have seen so many cases where players are brought on to draw foul off their opponents, diving etc. These things might be wrong but they are part of the BIGGER PLAN

Do you approve of such a thing?
I hate this, I hate it with my soul. Just killed off the game.

What kind of strategy are you encouraging our players to learn? To deliberately injure the players of the other team? Is that strategy?

Should Nigeria ever win by such ignominious strategy I will curse that victory.

Do ojoro, do hand of God, feign penalty but not that you'd go injure another team's player deliberately. You know this is likely to cost Salah his WC appearance?
It's part of the game bro.

I trust the Egyptians. They ll do everything humanly possible to make Salah comeback!

That's strategy! I hope our players are learning.
If you can't match them toe for toe. Look for a way to take out threats.

I always shake my head when I see comments like "Iwobi should come in for Mikel in the second half" as if they have predetermined how the game will go.
I personally don't see Mikel been subbed - off unless the final nail has been knocked to the coffin. Iwobi will be ineffective without Mikel

He appears to be wise. If he just gets his tactics right, substitutions right, and the team plays with determination and guts forget this talk that we are average- we will do well. That's my hope and expectation.

I don't know oo but I swear to God even if Nigeria is playing against the best team in the world I always expect that we'd win. Maybe it has to do with me starting out as a fan during the 94 set when we played robust football. I can't help it. Even if na Brazil we playing I always start out believing we will win no matter the odds.

Mikel on Rohr, the friendlies and the team's underdog status

“With due respect to the other coaches who I have had the priviledge of working under, Gernot Rohr has had the most profound impact on the team. He’s brought a new work ethic, discipline and positive energy and a new way of doing things professionally,” Tianjin Teda star Mikel said.

“I missed the last two friendly games due to visa issues but I’m here now and the preparation is in top gear,” Mikel added.

“We lost against Serbia due to some mistakes but they are not major things that cannot be rectified. We are working on them and I’m sure this team will come out stronger. I’m optimistic about this team and I know we will do well at the World Cup. We just have to be focused and disciplined. We have to go in as underdogs but we must prove that we are as good as any team on the day.”

Are you serious?

Is Iwobi and Ebuehi's fathers not in the camp too?

Won't they influence the coach too?

Why the double standard?

Besides, I got the feelings or impression here that Ebuehi is ahead of Aina because he's a Benfica player. Bhuuuhahaha! grin

Is that not a joke?

If Ebuehi is a Benfica player, what of Aina?

Aina has even played for Chelsea last season before Ebuehi even dreamt of Benfica but I somehow prefer Ebuehi because he has gained experience over two seasons in the Eredivise and that is very important for a defender.

It's not that Ebuehi is better or more talented than Ola but I just considered the experience he gained for two seasons and the fact that I don't want us to lose him at all.

If anyone doubt the talent part, let us compare their ratings through a reputable and independent analysts.

Those who are complaining about moses atitude are making a valid point that should be respected by all and must not be put down here all in the name of the coach is not complaining. Lest we forget in 2014, moses had to be dropped to the bench for us to even make it to the second round.

This is where keshi was trying to get it right as per players discipline but we all blasted him in the name of man management. Moses is a great player but the controversies around him are becoming too much and looks like the NFF too are doing too much in managing the whole thing. I remember the video of him not shaking his hands with amaju pinnick and how both of them quickly did another video to douse the tension. Me think if not that he is a popular player playing in a big club, he would have been eased out of the team quietly. The guy may not even be aware that he is silently creating a distraction which may not be in our best interest at the world cup.

I love the guy and his style of play but the team is supreme which is key
Moses was dropped to the bench then, not because of attitude but performance which was because he Was match rusty

Please note all those monikers that are bent on indulging moses' irresponsible conduct and indiscipline. Make una no complain at the world cup when your supposed weapon of mass destruction hoards all balls to seek personal glory at the expense of the team.

Wrong doings need to be corrected in strongest possible terms. I cant recall any international match that Naija played where moses arrived early. Its always one excuse after the other. He even went as far as choosing games he plays. Abeg dem dey get injury for inside aircraft? At least show solidarity with your comrades. This subtle thing if left unchecked is the reason for bad blood and poor performances in teams. Equality is important in discipline.

I have said this times without number for those who have read my posts. He (Moses) needs to learn teamwork. I dont buy that bull crap of he doesnt socialize because as quiet as he is, he socializes with his Chelsea team mates. I saw his vid after the FA cup, you would wonder if its the same Moses.

You guys are singing his praises now. He had betta come good at the world cup. When he starts playing his solo stuff, make una no complain O! Weapon of mass destruction my foot!
"BREAK" is the word you guys are finding hard to understand. The guy was given break to get him rested from the just concluded season. He was given and not that he decided to stay away.

As long as the coaching crew do not have a problem with him, I think the fans too should not. Or of what use will he be again, if he reports to camp early say this week and he picks up up an injury that rules him out of the tournament. Fatigue has built up in most of these guys(don't forget he is a WB) and if not rested they can easily pick up an injury and in most cases they are muscles - related injuries.

I will implore us to trust the handlers to manage Moses situation. They are professionals and they know what we may not know.

O PARI!

Onazi, Musa and Ighalo are not laying claim to take set-pieces. The players laying claim to that role are younger than V.Moses.

I think responsibility can be shared since Moses is not obviously better in taking freekicks.
sharing free kicks responsibilities is the way forward.
Victor Moses should be saddled with the responsibility of taking set-pieces that falls on the left side of the pitch.
Kelechi should take those that falls to the right side. While John Obi Mikel takes anyone from the deep.

TThis way we will have a better chance of scoring them as we will be maximizing the kickers strengths.

Well done Hughton – This 29-year-old addition could truly solidify Brighton’s backline

by Rohan Sengupta

https://soccersouls.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Leon-Balogun-1.jpg

According to reports, Brighton and Hove Albion have completed the signing of Nigeria international defender Leon Balogun on a free transfer.

Balogun, 29, left Bundesliga side Mainz at the end of the season and has signed a two-year deal with Chris Hughton’s side.

Brighton finished 15th in the league this season after winning promotion from the Championship. Hughton made some shrewd signings last summer, most notably Pascal Gross from Ingolstadt and the club did a good job to stay in the top-flight.

Gross scored 7 goals and provided 8 assists in the league and was named the club’s Player of the Season. Going by Gross’ telling impact in his debut season in England, a lot could be expected from former Mainz defender Leon Balogun as well.

Balogun has represented Nigeria 14 times and was named in manager Gernot Rohr’s provisional 30-man squad for next month’s World Cup. The Berlin-born defender has plenty of experience in the Bundesliga, having also represented Hannover and Werder Bremen among other clubs.

To start with, Balogun is a ball-playing centre-back and with his range of style and good positional sense, he would massively strengthen Brighton’s defence.

Although he is comfortable on the ball, the 29-year-old likes to keep things simple with tidy and crisp short passing. Balogun often acted as the player to build up attacks from the back at Mainz.

A rock at the back for Mainz, Balogun had established himself as one of the reliable centre-backs in the Bundesliga. In a couple of years, he has developed into Nigeria’s best centre-back. At 29, he still has a lot to give to Brighton.

Having spent a lot of time in the Bundesliga, the experience Balogun would bring to the Seagulls side should be measured in gold.

Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy established a formidable centre-back pairing for Brighton in the recently concluded season.

The way Dunk and Duffy worked in defence proved difficult for some teams to breach. Arsenal and Manchester United were a couple of teams to come back home without a single point from their visit to Brighton.

This speaks volumes about Brighton’s defensive shape and rigidity under Hughton. He has built an excellent Brighton team, keeping the defence as his cornerstone. While his midfield and attack have been good, the way the Seagulls have shown defensive resoluteness the entire season is commendable.

With a good defence already in place, Balogun would add more depth and solidity to it. The 29-year-old is playing at the peak of his powers and without any doubt, Balogun is an excellent signing for Brighton.

I don't know why we are all more worried about Moses absence than the coaching staffs do? Let 's leave Rohr to deal with the issue.

Moses still remain an important player in this team. Taking him out will equals to clipping the Eagles' wings. I pray you, tell me an eagle that has ever flown without wings. I'm glad Rohr knows better.
