It's not messed up, she isn't doing anything different from "anyone arriving Eldorado" for the first time.
I am pretty sure you were a social media and pics worm during your first months.

Obviously you guys already had issues and you taught distance was the problem, so you brought her closer and issues are still there.
Anything she does now will be tied to your pending issues.
Just let her enjoy settling in... There is massive difference between living in Nigeria and living abroad,
The instant eye opener is so shocking and hard to believe.

I still tell everyone that gives me an ear, you haven't lived life if you have never being outside Nigeria, Africa in short.
I detest folks like you who minimize people’s experiences. It’s pathetic you summarized this man’s entire nightmare to a mere settling down syndrome on his wife’s side. Here’s someone complaining of losing productivity at work, becoming depressed, being investigated for faux domestic violence, being hit by his wife, and his career being targeted and threatened And your submission is that it ain’t a big deal.
There are topics we simply can keep quiet about, especially if we don’t know what to say rather than open our mouth and compromise basic thinking.

I was wondering why Netflix acquired Lionheart until I saw the movie yesterday. Trust me, it’s a simple, humble, and well delivered script; above all the movie feels so real and there wasn’t any move to flaunt luxury showmanship over deep content.
This movie is for those who appreciate real stories, not hype and media marketing. A premium product sells itself, and even if Genevieve doesn’t gross much from the Nigerian cinemas, she has made enough from Netflix and has registered her name. It’s understandable why her competitors or contemporaries in Nollywood May be jealous. She made a big move!

Car Talk / Re: Is it Safe to Buy a Car with High Mileage? by aikeron: 10:01am On Jun 20, 2018
About to buy this camry sport 08, 169k Km, but car is sound and clean from US. Sometimes odometer reading doesn’t count if a car has been well driven and taken care of.

Car Talk / Re: Is it Safe to Buy a Car with High Mileage? by aikeron: 9:52am On Jun 20, 2018
CarsGuideNG:
Hello Sir.

It is encouraging to note that you understand the importance of a history report before purchasing a vehicle.

CarGuideNG has identified 2 aspects of the issue:

a. The mileage itself, 290,000 KM

b. The Odometer rollback of 201,000 KM

We made an earlier thread about car mileage:

https://www.nairaland.com/4503479/buyer-beware-tokunbo-cars-mileage

And a thread for checking the mileage/flood

https://www.nairaland.com/4496684/free-exclusive-check-genuine-mileage

To explain the (a) part of the issue.

Your question cannot be fully answered without knowing the following details:

a. Age of the vehicle.

b. Model of the vehicle.

This is because these details determine how mileage should be looked at.

The USA often uses an average yearly mileage of 12,000 miles, while for Canada it may be 20,000 KM per annum. These are average figures, the true figures may range from much more than these, to much less than these.

With the above figures, mileage can be said to be high when the figure greatly surpasses the average for a year.

Using 20,000 KM as an average, it means that a vehicle with 209,000 KM in 2018 may have been driven for about 10 years.

Generally, mileage should never be considered in isolation when vehicle shopping.

It should always be considered along with other features like general vehicle condition, etc. Physical appearance. The state of the interior, cracked leather, worn pedals, gear knob, scratches and other wear and tear. The state of the suspension and other mechanical parts, which undergo stress with increasing mileage.

These should all be considered together to understand the mileage and general condition of the vehicle.

While it is true that increasing mileage leads to increasing wear and tear for a car, high mileage considered in isolation may not give the best picture of the car status.

'High' mileage can result from:

a. City miles, such as a Taxi, with frequent stop-and-go traffic.
b. Highway Miles, interstate trips, etc.

For a vehicle used in Canada with a good road network, highway miles are much more preferred to city miles.

Frequent stops and starts are much more harmful than continuous engine performance at high and efficient speeds, which is usually the case for highway miles.

Without the details like age of the car further explanations about the (a) part of the issue may not be relevant.

Regarding the (b) part

We have discovered from hundreds of history reports which we provided for clients for a negligible fee, that odometer rollback is a thriving occurrence among imported used vehicles in Nigeria.

This should not be so, and in countries where these vehicles originate from, such practices are highly criminal and illegal.

Unfortunately the Nigerian environment allows them to thrive, we always advise clients to exercise maximum caution once it is discovered that the mileage was tampered with, especially in such a brazen manner as in this case, with 201,000 KM removed from the odometer.

They engage in such practices because they know

The average buyer may have often unrealistic mileage expectations and

May focus on just the mileage and

May not know enough to check the car history, and

There are no laws to prevent them, thus no consequences.

There are red flags in vehicle purchase. Some of them are:

a. An older car with lower mileage at inspection. Example, a 2004 Toyota Corolla with 80,000 KM in 2018.

b. A more recent car with higher mileage. Example, a 2016 car with 120,000 miles in 2018.

These all point to the importance of vehicle history reports which CarGuideNG provides at minimal cost, using the VIN/Chassis Number, before considering any car for sale.

Thank you.

Guys y'all should relax. It's not that serious. I con authoritatively tell you that Ebuka doesn't pay for MOST of his outfits. He has gradually broken through into the hallway of fame successfully as a fashion icon, and now many clothing brands want him to wear their products and tag their names just to sell. Ebuka has enough items to wear lined up for him from now till next year ending and he picks each one as it suits the occasion through which he can subtly market it.
Can't u see him mentioning the handles of whatever brand he wears? That shows he's simply marketing the product, he pays no dime. If I paid for a product, I'm under no obligation to mention or tag the brand since that will amount to free publicity esp if I'm celeb. A celebrity leverages on their popularity to enjoy some perks and make brands known. Don't be fooled!

imma2:
Just an ordinary engine flame out. That's what is making Nigerians act action film.

We truly need air emergency orientation. Most folks don't even listen to the emergency procedure during preflight preparations.

You must be very daft for describing Engine flameout as "ordinary"! A combustion in one engine of the plane is extinguished and the engine entirely shut down and you call it ordinary?
All over the world, engine flameout is an international emergency and shouldn't be taken lightly. It's a "Mayday" emergency. The TranAsian air crash in Taiwan on Feb 5, 2015 in which over 30 people died and 15 injured was primarily caused by an engine flameout.
Let's be cautious and sensitive in making statements. You cannot blame Nigerian flyers for panicking because we all know that save for our distasteful aviation standards and poor precautionary/maintenance measures, some of the air accidents in nigeria could have been avoided.
The fact that you have a little aviation/aeronautics knowledge shouldn't make you bully others with it by discarding this incident as ordinary. Everybody mustn't be an aviation expert or aeronautical engineer to know when there's a disturbing situation in the air. And this particular one, to be honest called for every reason for passengers to be worried. This is Nigeria.

A little bit of Education for some of us:

You actually get your bail money back whether you are found guilty or not; bail is intended to secure the defendant's presence for trial, nothing more and nothing less. Thus, once the trial is complete, your bail money is returned. This implies that a bail is a form of collateral or loan.

However, if you can't afford the bail amount, then you have to pay a bail bondsman to post for you; they will typically charge a 10% fee to post your bail, in the form of a bond. That fee is generally not refundable.

Health / JOHESU Embark On Nationwide Strike: Could This Be The Final Showdown? by aikeron: 7:19pm On Nov 12, 2014
The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) will commence an indefinite strike action on Wednesday 12th November despite being given the consultancy status like their counterparts in the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), which has been one of the talking points for months.

The National President of National Union of Allied Health Professional (NUAP), Felix Faniran, who is also the Vice President of JOHESU, disclosed this to Journalists Tuesday in Abuja.
JOHESU, a conglomerate of several health care associations in the health sector, having achieved the consultancy status, is embarking on strike over wage issues.
“We held a meeting with the SGF on Thursday, the government only release one of the many circulars we told them to release. The one they release was the one in respect to consultancy status which we say they should correct which they have now corrected.
“Other health care professionals are recognized as consultants and that it is their professional bodies that have the right to dictate who should be a consultant or not and not the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and that such people shall be qualified to receive specialist allowance. That is what we have gotten,” he explained.

“All other issues, particularly, that our salary which was supposed to be adjusted on January this year in the same line with our colleagues –the NMA members, who have had their own adjusted and whose circulars have not only been issued, but they are already enjoying a new salary package, our circular is yet to be released.
“We are in the same sector but they are enjoying new salary while we have not gotten the circular yet let alone implementing it.
“Also, this is already November, budgets have been prepared in all institutions and ours have been prepared on old rate, so we can no longer wait.
“Since the government don’t have an answer to this and the arrears of CONHESS 10 Skipping they also have no answer to it, they are just compiling the list whereas they have compiled this list long ago, it was supposed to be paid in 2013, they could not pay, we waited to 2014, they said it was not in budget for 2014 and that we have to wait till 2015, we are all tied of this rigmarolling.

The name itsef is an aberration JOHESU( joint health sector union). So doctors no dey the health sector again or na doctor sector doctors dey.
An alliance based on hatred/gread will definitely be scattered by greed on the long run.
If u re that important n relevant like u want the public to belif
1. Each body will fight for themselves no teaming up againt doctors. Let's imagine God forbid that FG agrees and allowed wanabes to attain Cmdd , within 2yrs in fighting will start na only nurses or pharmacist dey becom Cmdd dem no allow others . Even porters n cleanners will want to bcom cmdd. Atleast they re part of johesu and they all fought n won.
2. U will leave the striking doctors n even be happy they re not around cos u will asuume controL and manage patient successfully n the public will even sing ur prais and say to hell wth tHe doctors cos their absence was not felt. But we all know the truth of the matter.
Going to Court in Nigeria is time wasting stragethy. Thhe court wud adjourn till eternity. Or maybe that ur hope tht the court will ask that status be maintained vis-a-vis fg aggrement witj u.
I for one am tired of this write, idleness is bring n killing, even no Dr wud want to go on strike but that's the only language the govt understands even that one sef. Its like they only respect a lasting one ASUU 6mth+ asup 10mth+ coeasu like 10mth theReeabt.
I pray this impasse is setteled on time
Well we all sidon dey look.
And see the end of this season film.

My dear shut up if u are too ignorant to talk. Don't u know that NMA is not a registered trade union and therefore doesn't have the constitutional right to negotiate or push for any demands ? If u are to make any argument, make it on this basis and stop ranting. JOHESU have found a loophole on the Doctors' side to explore and they strategizing really well.
Don't forget a lot of things in this country are political. If you don't shine your eyes and make the right noise at the right time, u are most likely going to the abandoned. Read In-between the lines.

I have sat back to observe this situation so far. And this is my problem with doctors, they are always babbling and ranting, yet avoiding the core of the matter. Why not address the issue at hand rather than flaunting ur usual vain ego? The FG has challenged doctors to a public debate on this issue but doctors do know most of the demands on their 24-point agenda are unjustifiable. How dare you try to frustrate other health professionals from attaining the peak of their career. Who has made u gods? It's not done anywhere in the world! Nigerians have grown, they have become more enlightened hence doctors cannot gather any public sympathy as far as this strike is concerned. Majority of the masses dislike doctors already cuz of their overbearing attitude.
A lot of doctors claim that Nigeria is not yet ripe for consultancy status to be initiated for other health professionals, fearing that there will be confusion in the system, yet they believe Nigeria is mature enough to have a Surgeon-general, for doctors to be paid as much as thr foreign counterparts and for them to have customized plate-numbers on their cars. Whatever happened to asking the government to streamline the practice by boldly outlining the job descriptions of a consultant pharmacist, consultant lab-scientist, etc as distinguished from a consultant doctor so as to avoid the so-called feared clashes. That would have seemed a more reasonable demand to make.
It baffles me that in this 21st century where the yearning of every developing country is to attain international best practices, our Nigerian doctors can stand up and scream that what is obtainable in many climates in the world should not be adopted by Nigeria.
As a matter of fact if priority is to be given in adopting any latest technology/methodology/guideline/policy/, such priority should be delegated in adopting developments related to health practices because human life is involved. There is no practice too early to adopt anywhere in the world as long as it will improve health and boost the quality of human life.
The consultancy training and title Doctors are trying to deny others from undergoing and attaining has always been in existence for years in saner climates. The Pharm D program that Nigerian Pharmacy schools are gradually adopting for example has been running in the US and other western countries since the 80's. It is also running across all the Pharmacy schools in Ghana, SA, even Kenya amongst other African countries. For how long do we keep giving excuses?
The usual insinuation by doctors that other health professionals are a collection of frustrated individuals who dropped out of medical schools or could not secure admission to study medicine is a laughable ego-induced generalization. I have a lot of colleagues who have genuine passion for what they studied in school. I for example scored 286 (enough to grant me admission into medical college) in one JAMB-sitting and went straight to apply for Pharmacy which I studied, and so did it go for a number of my friends.
Doctors have really had it their ways over the years in Nigeria, From the continual insistence that only doctors be made ministers of health and CMDs in public hospitals to using their over-exalted positions to intimidate and cow the government into yielding to their ever greedy demands. The time has come for other professionals to have their voices heard. Power is changing hands, and the time is now!
