ichidodo: Alaba flying Nainja Flag on pointDavid Olatokunbo Alaba actually combined 3 flags in one...Nigeria, Philippines and Austria... His Dad is a Nigerian; His Mom, Filipino, but unfortunately, he plays for the Austrian National team!... |
at the bolded... I don't know about that.Anyway, Orunmila is my favourite orisha. The god of wisdom, knowledge, divination etc..
Ogun is mine!... The Yoruba god of War, Iron and metallic ore! Ogun lakaiye, Osin imole...Ogun alada meji, Ofi okan sanko, ofi okan yena! Chief among the divinities. The day Ogun was descending from Ori-Oke, he was clothed in fire and wore a garment of blood. Ogun, the Lord of Ire. Ogun, the possessor of two machetes: with one he prepares the farm, and with the other he clears the road. Ogun, the owner of the house of money The owner of the house of riches The owner of the innumerable houses of heaven. One who’s eye-balls-are-rare (to behold). Support behind the orphan. Whichever divinity regards Ogun as of no consequence will eat his yams with hands (without a knife) times without number. If one breaks covenant at all, it must not be with Ogun, the matter is strictly taboo where Ogun is concerned. Hard, fierce and terrible by nature. “Where does one meet him? One meets him in the place of battle; One meets him in the place of wrangling; One meets him in the place where torrents of blood Fills with longing as a cup of water does the thirsty. |
Beauty and smarts are two enviable qualities that seem mutually exclusive in the feminine gender! She graciously combines both! , Ku ise, but you failed to reveal her marital status! |
smothly: Am a woman and a humanbeing also.for a man to pour an acid on just a mere girlfriend of he's,means he has invested so much in the relationship. But I don't support the pouring of acid, the guy should have just leave her and let her go for God to judge and God judgement is worse than that of human(though it might be long anyway maybe she will come to realise her wrong but I know God judgement is worse)........see the kind of trouble the guy put himself and see what the girl caused herself now,but I prays God helps her out of that condition fast and speedily.I guess you and the b!tch-a$$, acid-pouring Beast grew up in the same Village where such dastardly acts are condoned! Your expressed "Engrish" justifies that... Meanwhile, what kind of "investment" would warrant a Guy destroying an innocent girl's life? Are you even aware of the fact that the girl might have lost her cherished Virginity to the Beast! I just pray the girl's sight is restored! |
Brilliance9000: [b]Let me state first, that I do not condone the pouring of acid on her by the Boyfriend. However, for a guy to do such a thing, he must have invested so much into the relationship; and for most people its difficult to let go. I bet he had given her so much. Typical of Nigerian women...I will continue to eat your money, your time, have you suspend your future plans for me, but when I find someone else, I have the right to dump you when and how I want. WOMEN...be careful of who you date. If you don't like a man, say it at the outset and let him go peacefully and happilly; they are other women out there that need him. Don't try to waste his time and money. You wake up one morning you just tell him it's over...what the fu$ck? What do you expect him to do if he has invested so much into you? Even if you must do this, there are slow and deliberate ways to ease yourself from someone you have known for years and you know they love you. Slowly do it and before time, you both will lose attraction and break up. Don't just do it outright...it hurts badly.Shut the fvck up there! You call yourself "brilliance9000" but I think you are dumber than a Turkey... If the victim had been your Sister or close relative, would you have spewed the rubbish up there? I swear, if a Nigger tries that crude act of sheer cowardice on any of My female cousins (I no get Sister), I would pay him back in his own coin. I'd even do worse and wouldn't fvckin care if it costs me My life... Rubbish! |
tonididdy: what do u know about the RULES OF ENGAGEMENT?With respect to Chess, that's a big falsity! Matured, in-depth Chess Players often sacrifice their Queens in order to win the game... There are some times in professional, matured chess, that the only strategy to win a Game is to sacrifice your all-powerful Queen... Are you a Chess Rookie? |
He was an unrepentant, Xenophobic Bigot!... Someone who saw no flaws in his tribe and thought his tribe's superior to others! After reading "There was a Country", I was glad I had bought a pirated copy! It's presently where it deserves to be...with My little Nephew, Fisayo... The 4-year old boy don tear am taya! |
babyosisi: If Da Vinci code belittles things fall apart then what does that say about wole's books that have only sold a fraction of what Chinua's haveOlamide definitely sells more than Asa. Does that make him a better Musician? You know, the esoteric nature of Soyinka's works endears me to that Dude! His works are not for all and sundry!... |
Crayola1: If that's the case then thank God for Soyinka's nobel because no one even remembers the book that won him the damn thing....so bad you think Literature is all about Novels. If that's the case, I think J.K Rowling, John Grisham and Dan Brown should have won the coveted Nobel award...As a matter of fact, Dan Brown's "Da Vinci code" has sold more than 100 million copies, belittling Achebe's "Things fall apart"... Guy, Literature wide no be small...Prose, Poetry, Drama, Biographies. Soyinka is a master of all...His versatility is the reason he was awarded the Nobel prize... Go and get a copy of Soyinka's "Ake: The years of Childhood" and get a glimpse of what it his to be a Writer! |
Crayola1: Please someone should verify this quoteDid you read the article at all? Amukunmeko jati jati! |
You people are ordinary chest beaters. Post the link on the bold. You guys are just the same include the so called Soyinka. Am telling you that outside yorubaland nobody knows who is soyinka..you want to argue with me. Just type Achebe's name on google and type Soyinka's. The only gift Soyinka gave to Nigeria is campus cultism, whereas Achebe's book has been translated into over 50 languages and counting because of wide reach all over the world.
Ogbeni, nobody's saying Achebe's "Things fall apart" is not a good book and has not been translated into several languages.... As a matter of fact, that book is his only noteworthy book, the rest are just average...Should he be informally crowned as the "Father of modern African literature" just 'cos of one remarkable book? |
oooh it's so sad reading this. I'm so disappointed. SMH. how the mighty has falling. it cannot be wole soyinka that said this, it just cannot be. SMH!!!! he's the only one from clan that we all can attest does not have petty jealousy and enviness for those that achieved more than him. such a shame, our opinion of him is so far from the truth. wole soyinka please noooo. say it is not so. reading this article, it's easy to see jealousy towards his colleague, it's sad too cause he never showed this envy when his colleague was alive. smh. wole soyinka give props when props is due. Chinua Achebe did not name himself "father of modern African literature", another African did and the entire world accepted it as fact. stop being jealous, noone is taking your achievement from you by calling CA that. The feat he was able to do was not an easy task. if it was, you, WS, would have achieved it as well and till this day you have not. CA is the number one Nigerian author recognized by others; chiamanda is getting there but even she haven't touched the greatness of CA. CA has single handily promoted other African writersdentified, including your own, without even saying a word. in my 11th grade, our literature book contained small sections of Chinua achebe's work and one of your poetry. At the end book, the authors identified what inspired them to include the works in their textbook. underneath your name and poetry, the author specifically mentioned it was CA works that sent them looking for other Nigerian authors to see if there is anyone worthy like CA. CA things fall apart, fiction or not, is the only African book that we know that that've intrigued the world to seek and learn about African culture prior to colonization. SMH @WS. it's such a shame he fell this low. you can see the jealousy oozing off from the comment where he mentioned "CA is just a storyteller". what does he, WS, think he is? is he not just a story teller as well? all literature writes are story tellers. I pray to God, it is old age coming out. I pray that man is not being influenced negatively in that country. This is like the third time he's dissappointed me this year. I pray it's just old age.
“The fact that Wole Soyinka was awarded the Nobel Prize does not make him the Asiwaju (Leader) of African literature” - Achebe How about that for unbridled Jealousy! |
Why did you bother yourself with that dunce? There chest beating cannot help any matter, soyinka is not know outside Yoruba borders. Whereas Achebe is known all over the world..who is now greater between the two?Nobody can change the fact that Achebe is the Father of modern African Literature.
Immediately after winning the Nobel prize in 1986, Soyinka had academic offers from top universities in the World; Ivy League and Oxbridge. He rebuffed their plum and lucrative offers and opted to stay with the then University of Ife, not until Abacha forced him out of the country! That's a true and through Nigerian... Achebe relocated to the USA, claiming the bad roads in Nigeria caused his "Skoroism", as if accidents don't happen on the smooth roads of Massachusetts...Well, he was a Biafran! If only some Niggers know what it means to be a Nobel Laureate... |
Afam4eva: The truth is that, the only reason why people try to compare Soyinka to Achebe is unconnected with the fact that Soyinka won the Nobel prize. Had he not won it, he would have just been regarded with the likes of Elechi Amadi, Cyprian Ekwensi, Ola Rotimit etc....bad usage of the English Language!..."is not unconnected"/"is connected" you meant up there! How many Soyinkas and Achebes have you read sef? I guess none! Small boy! |
Chimamanda just confirmed how political Noble prize is..she just busted 'em https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41Na23h9-AE&feature=endscreen&NR=1
That over-hyped girl just referred to the Nobel Prize as being political. I'm sure her view would have been different if her Mentor, Achebe had won it! With her Nobel-degrading utterances, I think she should forget ever winning the award! |
Fela's seeds... Abami Eda lives on!... |
Chinua Achebe's a good fictitious Novelist, no doubt, but ascribing that "Father of African Literature" to him is not only a Travesty, but a Taboo...Achebe himself rebuffed the illegitimate title! People all over Africa had written Novels and Poetry before he was born... Even here in Nigeria, Amos Tutuola's "The Palm-Wine Drinkard" and "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts" had gained worldwide prominence years before "Things fall Apart"...A fact Achebe acknowledged in his latest book "There was a country"... I'm not taking anything from "Things fall apart"! It was my most favorite Nigerian fiction (Novel) before I read Soyinka's "The Interpreters"... Someone needs to read Soyinka's "Ake: The years of Childhood"; and "You must set forth at dawn"...pure classics for the matured minds! |
berem: Jonathan made the promise at the ground-breaking ceremony of the international wing of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu onAn international Airport in Southeast Nigeria had been long overdue...Ki lo de? No more Enugu to Lagos to China...Now it's gonna be a direct non-stop flight from Enugu to China... |
ichommy: | credits:...just too bad you supported Shehu Shagari while Nnamdi Azikiwe contested that same election! Well, the Igbos had no option than to support Yakubu Gowon after the Civil war...The Hausas would never want an Igbo Man in Aso rock! It's as simple as that! On a personal note, I sincerely think the Igbos have been marginalized for a long time now; and I would want to see an Igbo Man rule this country someday...but the problem lies in the nonavailability of suitable candidates, except of course the incorruptible Senator Ken Nnamani, whom I think is no longer interested in Nigerian politics... The likes of Obasanjo, Kalu, et al ought to be languishing in Prison by now! |
This is what causes confusion and so he was charged with sleeping with an underage what business of yours is it? One thing that is sure is that he must have mentioned it to them before now, and if he boateng has respect for another man why must he pour him beer?. The fact that you are very happy would not make you forget what is right or wrong man mi.
Paedophilia and Alcoholism are inextricably linked from a rational point of view! Ribery is just a Hypocrite!... |
There are certain times some religious tenets just need to be eschewed and relegated! Times like winning the Bundesliga title! I really don't blame Boateng...He was overwhelmed by the rapturous moments... And what's with Ribery with his "holier-than-thou" attitude?...No be the same Ribery dem charge for sleeping with an underage girl sometimes last year! |
That's My State!... State of the Living Spring... |
..Very different from those other rascals!A politician who is nationalistic and in a class of his own!Truely an elder state man, with more of politicians like him in his region, the south-west will definately out grow the monster of tribal jingoism and petty politics that has blinded them from progress!
You tried to impress with your inappropriate grandiloquence but ended up shooting yourself in the leg! What's your definition of progress? |
The relationship between Southern Nigeria and Northern Nigeria is utter Parasitism...The latter being the non-contributing, leeching, ineffective Parasite; and the former an helpless Host!...Despite this indisputable truism, the Northerners still think it's their birthright to rule this Geographical miscalculated mistake called Nigeria! Lord Lugard fvck up big time! The Guy no try at all!... |
