PoliticsRe: South Africans Reacts To Their Govt.'s Appology To Nigeria. by AjCityOne: 1:14pm On Mar 10, 2012
I don't blame anyone of you South African slowpoke. What the Nigerian government should do from now on is to test all South African passenger coming to Nigeria for HIV and AIDS and then detain them until the result comes out. And if you tested positive, you are going to be prosecuted and sent to prison on Nigeria soil for malicious intent to infect Nigerian population with deadly disease. Yellow fever Vs HIV and Aids, Wondered which is more deadly and humiliating.
CultureNew National Museum Of African American History Derive From Yoruba Motifs by AjCityOne(op): 1:48am On Feb 23, 2012
An ordinary sales slip consigning a young woman to slavery is among the chilling items that will be displayed at the new National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington DC. The $500 million branch of the Smithsonian in Washington breaks ground tomorrow for an opening in the autumn of 2015 that will add an ambiguous exclamation to the imposing line of culture palaces along the Mall. A rendering of the museum’s design reveals it to be too polite to capture the tragic and redemptive African-American experience. Yet I can feel an exuberant Africanness struggling to escape the civic blandness imposed by fundraising, watchdog groups and design review that are part of building on America’s most sacred ground.
Athletically sloping columns hoist tiers of bronze metalwork above the National Mall. David Adjaye, the project’s chief designer, says those sprouting bronze metal bands derive from Yoruba motifs. The building captures a sensibility found in textiles and art throughout West Africa, where the chief slave- trading ports were. London-based Adjaye is working with the insightful architect Philip Freelon, of Durham, North Carolina. (The team includes architecture firms Davis Brody Bond and SmithGroup.) As you approach the museum, the apparently solid bronze surface is revealed as a delicate screen made from a high-tech composite of concrete and bronze that softens the building’s bulk. Its patterns energetically update the ornamental ironwork screens that veiled porches in 19th-century New Orleans, where many of the artisans were African-American.

PoliticsAcn Govs Declare Position On Subsidy by AjCityOne(op): 5:28pm On Jan 08, 2012
The governors elected on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) met on Saturday, 7 January, 2012 at Lagos House, Marina, Lagos.

The meeting deliberated on the recent removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government. Four Governors were in attendance: Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), Lagos, Dr. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola of Osun, and Senator Ibikunle Amosun FCA of Ogun.

Two governors, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of Edo and Senator Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo were unavoidably absent.

The governors who attended the meeting resolved as follows:

“That the responsibility for managing the nation’s petroleum resources is that of the Federal Government

“That the pre-occupation of ACN as a party and its governors is the welfare and security of our people

“Our party has already expressed its reservation about the recent policy of the Federal Government regarding fuel subsidy, particularly its sudden implementation. We fully associate ourselves with the position of our party

” In our view, the debate on the fuel subsidy is a narrow one. Subsidy is a financial and economic tool, not an end in itself. We are more concerned about the totality of the economy. For this reason, it is imperative to immediately implement the long-standing demand for fiscal federalism.

“The first step in this direction is the immediate review of the lopsided revenue allocation formula.

“Our commitment to the welfare of our people remains irrevocable despite the challenging global and local economic situations. We are also unwavering in our commitment to the deepening of democracy and the enhancement of peace and security in our dear country, as necessary conditions for the successful implementation of life enhancing economic policies and programmes that enjoy the support of our people, and reduce the burden on them.

” In the meantime, we enjoin our people to show restraint and eschew violence even as they exercise their constitutional rights.”

Can't you guys see that the Jona administration have recruited a handsful of people to go online and promote their agender. Go to everyline online forums and you will see them writing in the favour of the removal. I have compiled most of the argument being made by them, so anytime you see the following:

(1) When government deregulated diesel nothing happened, everyone seem to be going about their business. Why now?

My answer to that is that, how many people use diesel to fuel their car, generator to power their home, office and workshop, fuel to move food stuff, raw material aroiund the country.

(2) Nigerian don't understand that government is saving all these money to do something better for the country.

My answer to that is that nigeria government is riddles with corruption from the lower to the higher level of government and they are telling us that this money will be distributed mong states govenment, local goventment and some govenment bodies that we all know are corrupt to the highiest level. No wonder no Governor, Local government chairman have come out  in support of the preotest because they know more money will be coming their way and that property they cannot afford in Dubai will be a thing of the past.

i have read most post on dis thread. i havent really seen anyone  who has  really stated the multiplier effects  as a removal of d subsidy. Which is the important question we should really be asking. fine money gotten would be put into other projects, but  how long  are people gonna feel the effects and long are the developmental projects gonna be completed.
You do not need any boy to tell you this anymore,  just give a ring or better still if you are in Nigeria,  go out and take your 'Okada', and hear the price they will tell you. Like ever in Nigeria,  prices always go up and never down, and you think the dust will settler for less?,  have a nice day dream mate1

So with the calculation running through my head now, Petro in Nigeria will be more expensive than Petro in the United state? As it is right now average Unleaded Petro is $2.99 per gallon. And Nigeria will be paying around N150.00 per litter. And for those coming up with the argument that Ghana subsidy has also been removed, give me a break because Ghana does not produce crude in the same capacity as Nigeria. And already Nigerian pay 15 to 20% higher that any citizens of OPEC members. If this was IMF idea, can out stupid president understand that IMF can even get their situation right with the European Union. Like FELA talk "IF NO BE CRAZE, WHY FOR AFRICA"

PoliticsRe: Ethnic Clashes In Ebonyi, Another Slaughter! by AjCityOne: 2:32pm On Jan 01, 2012
I don't understand why killing of innocent people in Ebonyi has anything to do with Yoruba people. But then again, when people really doesn't have any meaningful things to contribute or argue about they start to hide behind ethnic bigotry. I've read all the comments on this thread and not even one person try to make me understand what was going on in Ebonyi that lead to the killing of all these people. This killing just happened in Igbo land and non of the so called Igbo people here have nothing to tell the non igbo and the outside world what was the reason behind this cowardice killing. Stop this nonsense and focus on the real issue.
PoliticsNo Hiding Place For Terrorism Sponsors, Members Of Boko Haram – Jonathan by AjCityOne(op): 4:01am On Jan 01, 2012
President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday pledged that there would be no hiding place for sponsors of members of the terrorist group, `Boko Haram’ which had claimed responsibilities for a number of terror attacks in the country.

The president stated this shortly after he inspected the Christmas day bombs explosion site at the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Madalla, Niger State.

Jonathan said there would be no sacred cow in the fight against the terrorist group and their sponsors.

He said his government had reviewed the activities of the group and would begin implementing new measures to contain their activities.

Specifically, Jonathan said that he would take some decisive measures in some places in the country that were notorious with Boko Haram attacks including Suleja Local Government Area in Niger State.

“ We’ll begin from tonight take some different measures, different approach to fighting `Boko Haram’ and we must weed them out of our society.

“But Suleja is a particular local government that is becoming very notorious in terms of terrorism.

“All the terrorist attacks in Niger State had taken place in Suleja. Luckily the chairman of council is here.

“I am going to turn this local government upside down. If there are institutions here that are harbouring criminality we are going to deal with it decisively.

“Niger State is a very big state and any terrorist attack is in Suleja, so my belief is that there are some institutions or individuals in Suleja that are harbouring terrorists and we’ll deal with it decisively.

“And any part of this country; any individual or group of individuals, whether traditional institutions or religious institutions associated with terrorists will be dealt with decisively. There will be no sacred cows.’’

The president promised that he would give the nation details on how he planned to contain the group.

He condoled with the Catholic Church, the government and people of Niger State over the Christmas day attack and assured that his government would do everything possible to protect lives and property.

Jonathan said he had not visited the site of the bomb explosions earlier in order not to disrupt investigations being carried out by security agencies.

Niger State governor, Babangida Aliyu, who was at the bomb site to receive President Jonathan, said that he was happy with the resolve of the Federal Government to contain Boko Haram.

He said Suleja was notorious for terrorism because of its proximity to Abuja adding that the state would welcome any step taken by the Federal Government to address the problem.

The governor said that the committee he set up on compensation for victims of the Christmas day explosions had concluded work and that he would be making its recommendations public on Jan. 2, 2012.

Aliyu said government would assess the extent of damage done to property on the day of explosion and compensate victims.

Earlier, the parish priest of the church, Rev. Fr. Isaac Achi thanked the president for the visit and assured him of the cooperation of his parishioners.

Achi said the parishioners had forgiven the perpetrators of the dastardly act which left dozens of the church’s members dead and wounded and many of their properties damaged.
Politics55 Killed In Ebonyi by AjCityOne(op): 3:27am On Jan 01, 2012
At least 55 persons, including children, yesterday lost their lives in a renewed communal war in Ezillo in Ishielu local government area of Ebonyi State. Among the dead was a police Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) in charge of the police station in Ezillo.

The war, which started in the early hours of Saturday, forced the governor of the state, Chief Martin Elechi to cancel all his New Year programmes. Those killed included children between the ages of 3 to 5, old men and women as well as over 30 donkeys.

Some of the wounded were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Abakaliki, for treatment. The Divisional Crime Officer whose name is yet to be ascertained was said to be on his way to the office when he was ambushed and shot dead.

An eyewitness, one Ikechukwu Eze said that the gunmen invaded the community around 5a.m with an unidentified vehicle, divided themselves into groups and first attacked the Ezillo police station along Enugu-Abakaliki expressway while some of them took over the Afor Ezillo market.
He said that they were still asleep when the gunmen attacked them explaining that it was when they heard the gunshots that most of them ran out from their homes to take refuge inside bushes only to meet their death in the hands of their killers.

Another eyewitness, Jacob Okoro, disclosed that when they heard sporadic gunshots, they all ran out but the gunmen shot at them killing all the members of his family.“It was the grace of God that I am alive because I can not really say how I escaped. As am talking with you, I have lost everything. Our compound that has about 32 persons, only three persons out of the number escaped the bullets of the gunmen. When we ran out of the house, we saw some young men and we were thinking that they are also running for safety not knowing that they are the gunmen. As you run towards them, they will just kill you immediately,” he said.

Sunday Sun observed during a visit to the community that the gunmen also killed donkeys, burnt down the Afor Ezillo market, filling stations and houses. Most of the youths, old men and women including children who lost some members of their families could not hold back tears as they cried uncontrollably.

Confirming the incident, the Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adeola Adeniyi who led the state governor, Martin Elechi to the place described the incident as regrettable and unfortunate adding that the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Hafiz Ringim has approved the deployment of mobile policemen from Cross River, Rivers and Akwa Ibiom States to assist those in Ebonyi,
PoliticsBoko Haram, How Do We Get Rid Of These People? by AjCityOne(op): 7:54am On Dec 26, 2011
I have to say that since Boko Haram have been tormenting people in Nigeria with their bombing and killing of innocent people and security operatives. What happened on Xmas day made more headlines than anything that they have ever done in the past. NY Times, CNN, Washington Post and even some Chinese website are reporting on the horror of Xmas day. So my request to everyone on this forum that really cares about the tomorrow our beloved nation called Nigeria is that how can we get rid of this so called Boko Haram. Before you start typing, keep in mind that we are all tired of the finger pointing comments, religious bigotry and tribalism point of view. What I am asking my fellow Nigerians to do is to have intelligent and civil discussions and how we can deal with this national disgrace. And finally before you blame the president, think of how you can make him a better president by typing your suggestion. Hope this will help someone, somewhere in dealing with our national problem.

If anyone here is calling regional unity as an advocate for tribal interest then they really need to have their head checked put. This country is been moving backward much faster by this president than the previous administration and no one seem to care about the way PDP is driving out beloved country to the ground. Tinubu is a visionary man and a strong charismatic leader who can stand up to the criminal entity called PDP and what you should be hoping for in your South East is another Tinubu in your region. Let him be the Yoruba criminal all he wants. He;s our leader and we love him dearly. Now go get your own leader because 2015 is just around the corner.
CelebritiesRe: We Expect Baba Suwe To Excrete Six Times – Ndlea by AjCityOne: 4:00pm On Oct 16, 2011
You guys are all missing the point. You are all so fixated to the fact that the man is guilty and not realizing that there is a colossal failure in the manner in which NDLEA have conducted it self in the process.

Why making it public through the media if the so called evidence haven't been found on the man?
Why kept the man in detention since Wednesday if there is no evidence to charge him with?

You all may be thinking that this is some funny stuff going on and be passing your blame on to the Yoruba's or some other tribes. But you will remember this moment in time when the Nigerian authority hold you in their custody with no evidence and just on some suspicion that you may be guilty before you have even had your day in court.

If you are an educated individual with the right state of mind and not some ignorant that came on this forum to spread hate and tribal disaffection's, Pay attention to the process and the manner in which the whole thing is been carried out.
