HR.hotness:

my interest in colonic irrigation is for weight loss tho, I recently lost 3 stones and i can't shake the last 1 stone, someone suggested it was a good way to go, plus it has health benefits as well,,,, i'm still skeptical tho, d idea of things going into that part of my anatomy is very discomforting grin

Definitely. A colonic will kick start your remaining weight loss. I combined mine with light eating for 2 weeks or so and the difference was incredible. Lost 1.5 to 2 inches everywhere and my stomach was flat as a pancake as opposed to bloated. Sad to say am back to square 1 which isn't really bad but I was enjoying how I looked!

The colonic will enable your food to be broken down faster and used more efficiently instead of forming a 'queue' in your large intestine waiting to be 'released.' grin

Trust me if you can handle Brazilian waxing, colonic is no biggie in terms of nudity, in fact its more decent! The inserting bit is not painful -at least for me it wasn't. After 5 mins trust me you will forget any shyness issues you may have had hehehe

is the laser eye surgery to correct your vision?
I wear contact lenses and I think I'm happy with them,,, the surgery went wrong for a colleague of mine and i guess that put me off it

@ HR.hotness: Yeah the laser is to correct my vision. What exactly happened to this colleague of your's and how far back was this. Did it have something to do with where he / she did it?

HR.hotness:

thanx girls,,, i really can't stand classless people

@ D-reloaded
home wax kits are less efficient,,, ever wondered why they come cheap? thats so u have to get a wax ever other day,,, u might as well use tweezers

getting it professionally done means u're set for an average of 6 wks
they use a better quality wax that is sure to get d nasty little buggers,,,

go get waxed professionally and see how long it lasts,,, i'm sure u'd see the diff

I second that. DIY waxing is hit and miss for me. The best kit for that is 'bliss poetic wax' but nothing beats a no-nonsense therapist stripping away those pesky hairs with hot wax! The last brazillian wax I did was after a 4 month 'break.' I was seeing stars, I wanted to disappear or evaporate half way during the treatment shocked

Gotta change the hair once a month - its a must!!. . . unless its braids.
wax ma eyebrows at least once a month . . or threading, which is more painful but last longer.
bikini waxing is summer time only . . embarassed
Was into manicure and pedicure until after I had an infection on my finger . . scared me a lot so I stop with the acrylics.

spa would be nice from time to time . . .relaxes your body and soul

I agree with the spa comment. Wish I could afford to go more often, this place is too expxensive!

Ouch what caused the manicure infection?

I do spend most of what i earn on cosmetics and facial treatments,,,
chemical peels - yes, spa treatments - yes, entire days at the salon - definitely yes!
I've been thinkin about colonic irrigation for a while now (for health reasons of course),,, whatdid it feel like, I hear its extremely uncomfortable
I don't think I'd ever go as far as plastic surgery,,, unless its sumthin i really can't cover up or live with

is the laser eye surgery to correct your vision?

I have done colonic irrigation in the U.K and in Lagos. You get over the shame of being partly nude once the discomfort hits grin Its nothing too bad tho its just bowel movements for 1 hr smiley The difference between the U.K and Lagos expxeriences was that I think the Lagos one was more thorough although the lady was not that well trained in the matter and wasnt as professional as the U.K one. I did 2 sessions a week apart in the U.K (120 quid together) which helped my IBS a bit. I did 3 sessions in Lagos within 1 week (cost 30K) and I have been cured of the IBS that had disturbed my life for the last 5 years prior to the procedure plus my stomach was very flat afterwards wink I have no regrets doing it.

I forgot to add I have endured hydrocolonic cleansing but the reason was mostly medical. i would do it again for superficial reasons tho grin
Fashion / Re: Sleek Cosmetic Range, Anyone? by Ajebota(f): 3:56pm On May 05, 2008
Its out in the U.K in drugstores frequented by blacks like pak cosmetics, dont know if its in naij yet tho undecided
Fashion / How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by Ajebota(f): 3:54pm On May 05, 2008
What would you endure in order to look beautiful and what do you think its "taking it too far" so to speak? What has been the most extreme thing you have done for beauty?

Personally, i can psyche myself to do arm, leg, underarm and Hollywood waxing and eyebrow threading, all in one afternoon. I can spend up to 50 quid on one cosmetic product and like most Nigerian women I can spend the whole day doing my hair! I use 25-50% chemical peels on my face every once in a while. Once and only once I dared to blow 130 pounds on a facial (I am ashamed of that tho). I am presently contemplating belly button piercing and laser eye surgery but the reason for the surgery is more medical than superficial.

I would say the most extreme was using 50% TCA peel all over my face to fade scars a while back.

However, i think plastic surgery of any kind is out of the question. What say ye?

@ Gamine yeah have heard of both spas, not been to either yet tho I will very soon. Would you say their prices were reasonable? What would you say they are lacking treatment wise or decor wise?

Are you a covenant student if you don't mind my asking?

@ bridget007

sorry if this sounds mean, cos its not meant to be, but you seem to have low self esteem. Except you have sadistic fantasies of being abused forever by this dude, don't mention marriage and this guy in the same sentence, even when typing in cyberspace angry

@ poster too many worst things by the 2 former boyfriends in fact i can right a novel. One of the minor ones would be traveling for an hour by train to the first boyfriend and not only did he stand me up but refused to pick up my calls. Needless to say that was the last thing I had to do with him. As for the other one, I dont want to think about it.

Romance / Re: The Dilemma Of The Single Woman by Ajebota(f): 5:43pm On May 04, 2008
Nwaka77:

@Gamine

If you want to marry, go ahead

if you want to stay single, go ahead

If you want to be in a long term relationship with someone but not marry that person like Goldie Hawn, go ahead

Marraige is not for everybody hence we see cases of divorce. Those talking about loneliness at 60 years old have completely forgoten about something called "death". Many Nigerian women 50 years or older do not marry again once their loose their spouses. Are these widows not alone? The children they bore, are they not going to grow up, move out of their parents home, even migrate to another country while their mothers stay alone (that's if the fathers are already deceased)? And let's not forget those women who married on time, started having kids right away, did everything the way society expected of them and then when they hit 50 years, their husbands leave them to go and marry another woman that is young enough to be their daughter. I saw that happen alot in Naija. Those women also end up alone.

Marraige is not a do or die affair. Marraige is a beautiful thing if you are married to a caring, loving, compassionate person who truly loves you. Marraige at the same time could be hell and lonely if you are married to a cheat and abusive person who does not gave a damn about you. Getting married in itself does not guarantee happiness or cures loneliness but rather getting married to the right person that God intended for you. Nigerian society likes to force people to do things that they may not like to do. Luckily, some of us don't live in such kind of societies. As an adult, you have the right to decide what you think will make YOU happy. If that means geting married, then by all means do so. If it means staying single, then ok, and if you want to be in a relationship but not be married to that person, then so be it.

Chikena!

@ iice

thnx, what would you be happy to pay for a 1 hr massage or facial in a top class spa in Lagos?
Business / Re: Opening A Spa In Lagos Or Abuja Will It Work? by Ajebota(f): 9:08pm On May 02, 2008
@ colors. thnx for your candid response. Yeah if I am to go into the spa thing, the environment would have to be top notch and the customer service on point. Sometimes I worry that the number of high end clients would not be enough to sustain the business with generator n diesel costs eating into profits. Might be wrong tho,

I too have no idea how to finance the idea yet. The plans are for the future though, best of luck with yours!

X-2-X:

Wetin be Spa?

A day spa is a business establishment which people visit for professionally administered personal care treatments such as massages and facials. It is similar to a beauty salon in that it is only visited for the duration of the treatment. In contrast, a destination spa offers the same services in a hotel setting where people reside for one or more days.

You must either be very naive like jjc, very young and inexperienced or blind to the fact. Women suffer enough in Nigeria in more ways than one; violence at the hands of the man being the most disgusting and rampant.

@ Poster The divorce rate in western countries is high primarily because of the disappearance of family values and their 'me me me' mentality. In Nigeria divorce is done primarily because of spousal abuse, in which case I support divorce. Divorce is not ideal but can be a necessary evil or the lesser or two evils.

The women you know get used as punching bags.
The women I know don't get used as punching bags.

Maybe Japanese women also get used as punching bags because their divorce rate is not as high as Europeans and Americans.

Abeg make we see road with yeye propaganda about wife bashing in Nigeria

Romance / Re: Romance And Social Class by Ajebota(f): 7:00pm On Apr 29, 2008
money is definitely NOT class. 'Class' incorporates etiquette, worldly exposure, social standing, family history, schooling, IQ, language, interest in cultural and social activities and the list goes on. Think along the lines of new money, old money. These things are part of the factors that make a couple compatible. My 50 pence.

The way I see it most people on the plane were did wrong in one way or the other but remember 2 wrongs dont equal a rite. The deportee shud have comported himself with dignity, the police ppl restraining him should have calmed Mr Omotade down etc etc. Im sure all parties were at fault one way or the other but the whole thing is pathetic. Mr Omotade or no Mr Omotade innocent Nigerians the world over are treated with disdain and suspicion, that stinks. What sucks even more is that we treat ourselves just as badly. Another thing that sucks is lack of unity amongst Nigerians. Who cares if ur Ibo or yoruba or wateva - I stil dont understand that way of thinking. It baffles me, Maybe one day i'll get it, until that happy day,
