Hello Phenmeson,

Thanks for responding to my post. I have a quick question for you about your passport renewal. I just applied for my daughter's passport and i was given two appointment days to attend in London; one for interview and another date for passport appointment booking (probably the day biometric is going to be captured). My question is did you attend on both days? I don't understand the need to have to go to London on two separate days; it is definitely not convenient for those of us outside of London.

I'd love to renew my passport before my trip but as the guys have mentioned earlier, i cannot do so until it has less than 6 months expiry and that should be in June. Maybe i will have to try my luck and book an appointment for mid June and pray it comes out before October.

Phenmeson:

Did my daughter passport last year and it took 3months for the collection. I did mine March 13th this year and collected it a week after. I was flying to Italy on the day of my passport collection. I was denied boarding because my old Passport was with 88days validity. Don't be a victim like me
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by ajirapsy(m): 7:12pm On Apr 20, 2018
thanks

ekpotek:

You are allowed to renew your passport if the validity is less than 6 months or there are no free pages for visa sticker. I have done two renewal within 2 years of passport expiration as there were no free pages left for visa stickers.

What you need to enter the UK is your Biometric Resident Permit if you have one or valid visa sticker on your passport expired or not.
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by ajirapsy(m): 7:11pm On Apr 20, 2018
thanks

OmoBendel24:

You can ask for a renewal once validity is less than six months or if you intend making a trip in that period just like your case is, you may have to prove the oncoming trip some times though.

Hello ekpotek,

I didn't know its possible to renew an unexpired passport that is not lost or stolen. Can anyone else please confirm this? @justwise

Also, not sure if you can enter the UK with a passport that has an expiry of less than 6 months.

ekpotek:

Sure if you want to do it now. You can also renew it after you trip to Nigeria as the passport will still be valid.

Hello All,

Just a quick question: is it possible to renew a Nigerian passport in London, if the passport is yet to expire?

The reason i would like to renew is because my current passport expires in Jan. 2019 and i intend to visit Nigeria in Oct. 2018 for two weeks. I believe i should be able to enter my home country with a less than 6 months passport but not sure if i can return to the UK with the same passport - there would be roughly 2 months and a few days left when i return. I know i can renew it in Lagos but i don't want to leave it to chance. Things can be very unpredictable back home and i'm only coming home on annual leave, so i really can't afford any delays.

Also, i don't have a british passport yet incase you are wondering. I'm on a spouse visa in the UK which expires in Sept. 2019.

To the gurus in the house, over to you.

Hello,

After listing all the required skills, you should have outlined what the prospective employee stands to benefit from the company.

Why should I apply?

Do you have some where else to stay? If yes, that's fine. Otherwise, you need hotel reservation.

Who goes to a place they have never been to without provision for a place to stay.

Visa free does not grant you automatic entry. You still have to convince them at the point of entry, where your visa is issued, before you are allowed in. Also, remember to have your return ticket handy if you are going for a visit.

@joinnow must I have a hotel reservation even to a Visa free country ?

Property inspection not required. The rent agreement and letter from landlord is good enough to proof accommodation status (so long as all other prerequisites are meet).

The identification number should be your Intl' passport number while candidate number is the IELTS number assigned to you for the exam you sat for.

pearharbour:

Sorry please, on the "check your result" link you sent, please kindly specify which is the "Identification Document Number" and also the "Candidate Number"

OK. Thank you very much.

I'm the applicant while my wife is the sponsor. She is the one with expired passport but she has applied for BRP NTL.

dday101:

No it doesn't but they will let you know if they can give you at that time or not. That's why I ask you to tell them the reason you requesting for it, as far you are not withdraw the application it won't jeopardize the application.

Please I want to know something about the expired passport. Who needs the spousal visa on their passport you or your wife? Because you cannot receive a visa on expired passport please.
Travel / Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by ajirapsy(m): 12:39pm On Jul 30, 2016
Thank you for this suggestion.

Would requesting for a supporting document before an application is processed not
jeopardize the application?

dday101:

Not a good idea as @justwise said but if you can't wait to get your marriage certificate back, I'm sure your wife can write to request for her marriage certificate back letting them know she wants to use it to apply for a spousal visa for her husband.

Since is your wife(Sponsor) passport that has expired and not your passport then no problem as far her IRL(Indefinitel Leave to Remain)is valid on that passport. Just do what I said you should do with the expired passport.

But if the British passport will be out before September then no need to use that method.

Thank you very much. You have been very helpful.

justwise:

From recent experience the answer is Yes and No, yes because I have seen people who got it within 2months and No because mine came out after 12weeks though I was contacted after 12th weeks to submit additional document that delayed my application for another 4 weeks.

Not a good idea at all. Wait until you get all supporting documents back to avoid delaying your spouse visa processing time.

Thanks. I agree this is the logical thing to do.

I'm just wondering if it's possible for a BRP card to be processed in 2 months after submitting biometrics.
It took a month after submitting an application before biometric was taken and they would only return our marriage certificate after the brp card has been issued.

dday101:

This is what you can do:-
You can still apply for the spousal visa application with the expired passport the most important thing is the ILR stamp on the Nigeria passport.
Submit the Expired passport and staple a note on the passport explaining that she has applied for new one and reference number of BRP application.

With that you are good to go. Do have successfull application and make sure all your supporting documents are properly check correctly.

GOD bless.

Thank you for your advice. However, you didn't comment on the marriage certificate.

Do you think it is advisable to apply with a photocopy of our marriage certificate and state in
our cover letter that the original marriage certificate was submitted as a supporting document for her
BRP application and give them the reference number for confirmation?
Travel / Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by ajirapsy(m): 3:48pm On Jul 28, 2016
Hello Good People of this thread,

I have an issue that i feel i should seek the opinions of others for:

We are planning to apply for the Spouse Visa in September, but we have an issue on our hands. My wife's Nigerian Passport expired in June but she submitted an application for BRP the same month, just before the expiration date. And she did the biometrics a few days ago. She has ILR by the way.

The issue now is she needed to submit our marriage certificate, as part of the supporting documents, for proof of adding my surname to hers. What i'm not so convinced about is can we still go ahead with the spouse visa application in Sept., given that it is not likely they would have finished processing the BRP and return the supporting documents by Sept.? I have read online it could take up to 6 months and damn, we don't have the luxury of time.

She suggests that we state the reference number for her BRP application in our cover letter for the Spouse visa. They should be able to verify our claim.

Please what do you think?

Ok, thanks. It's comforting to know i'm not the only affected candidate.

I want to give them till next week before going to their Ikoyi office. If you hear anything, please don't hesitate to mention me on here.

I wish you all the best.

Hello Everyone,

How does one check/preview IELTS Life Skills A1 Test result? I did one on the 14th of July, 2016 but their website: https://ielts.britishcouncil.org/CheckResults.aspx does not recognise my details. Meanwhile, i have used this same link in the past to preview my IETLS General Test and it went well.

I suspect there is a disconnect somewhere. I have called their useless telephone line several times with no headway.

I hope someone here can point me in the right direction.

Yes. Kenyan visa is issued at POE to Nigerian citizens. I paid $50 for it in May 2014.

EvaMD:

they do but the visa is usually given upon entry I think.

Please clarify this for me... Does it mean that Nigerians don't get Kenya visa sticker on there passport when they visit Kenya?

Thanks for the info.

Passport photograph too. The sponsor can submit the IELTS straight to Sheffield . Depending on the TLS center you use, some of them refuse to collect the IELTS certificate.

You are welcome
No they don't need it at all...they don't take it anymore. They have your picture from biometrics already.
Good luck!

Hi Everyone,

Are these the only documents submitted by applicant here in Nigeria and the rest sent to sponsor in the UK for postage to UKBA:

- Application form of course
- Applicant's passport
- TB test result
- IELTS Test Certificate

Please I need your help.

Hi sister2007,

I'm sorry to hear about the refusal of your husband's visa application.

Please do you mind sharing why his application was refused?

sister2007:
@Justwise

please just a point of correction that you still get housing and council tax benefit up to a salary of £20000 a year. its not the number of hours you work but the amount of salary you get. I am on a salary of £20000 a year but still get housing benefit because I have two kids and also get working and child tax credits.

secondly I applied for my husband's visa and honestly told them that I receive all of the following benefits and it does not affect your application as long as you earn the income required by law.

Thirdly a lot of people on here seem to believe that when you receive the processed email with a reference number it means you have a visa, and I will say it is not true because my husband had the reference number and his visa was rejected and it took a month before we had the Health Surcharge refunded.

Spouse Visa.

Thank you for the link. I will find time to go through it.

what visa are you applying for ?
this link below will make you understand guidance to Maintenance and accommodation (MAA)

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/maintenance-and-accommodation-maa/maintenance-and-accommodation-maa--2

and as for the 100 pounds thing... if you are applying for settlement... your account balance does not matter , it is the 18600 that matters..

Understood. Thank you.

justwise:

This person is living on benefits and working 16 or less hours a week. If you work more than 16 hrs a week you are not entitled to housing benefit but you can claim child tax and working tax credit .

The financial requirements is not really about how much in your bank account but how much you earn yearly which will be indicated in your employment letter and shown on payslip.

People earn and spend on bills and rent but the most important thing is that they have the source to meet those needs

1.Are you talking about somebody living in council house or housing association?

2. Please can you rephrase that question because I don't understand what you meant.

3. Yes you as long as it's earned legally and the employment letter supports the earning

1. Council house or a private rented house subsidized/paid for by council.

2. Can a spouse visa application sponsor apply for Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit and Housing benefit and it won't amount to recourse to public funds?

3. Is it possible to submit a bank statement with a closing balance of say £100 after paying for application fee and IHS. (financial requirement satisfied)
Travel / Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by ajirapsy(m): 7:46pm On Jun 03, 2016
Hi Everyone,

I have a few questions:

1. Can one use a council subsidized house to meet accommodation requirement?

2. Can a sponsor take any/all of these credits: Child Tax, Working Tax, Housing Tax?

3. Is it necessary to have a substantial amount left as account closing balance before submitting application?

Is it fine to include expired bio data page (due to expire in June and we are in applying in July) of UK sponsor passport with ILR in the supporting documents for spouse visa application?

Does this bio data page copy have to be certified by a solicitor?

Would a photocopy of her expired passport bio data page not jeopardise my spouse visa application?

Thank you for taking time out to help.

Hi Everyone,

I recently started hearing about IELTS UKVI. We will be applying for Spouse visa later this year and i already have IELTS General Training 7.0 score i did last year in Lagos.

I'm a little bit confused right now and would like to hear from people the appropriate test for English Language requirement for UK Spouse visa.
I hope i didn't do a wrong test.
