this is a simple matter. all she has to do is send a petition to the national assembly through her elected house of reps member. i'm sure whomever will be willing to help especially since this is good publicity for him or her. that way she won't even need a lawyer. i'm sure the house will be only too willing to come into the matter especially since its so conttroversial. good luck to her. |
let me start by appealing to everyone to please refrain from bickering and insulting one another. we are not enemies here. we are here to learn from one another. i don't want to mention names but, please people, lets be nice. deepzone, you seem to have misinterpreted the gist of it. keyamo is not fighting for the niger delta. like i said before, the house was scheduled to begin a public hearing on how moneys allocated to the governments of the different states in the niger delta was spent. this is to help it understand why with all the money going into the region, there is still no progress there. the proceedings that we all watched on television was not the proposed probe. it was a fact finding mission, set up by yar'adua, to determine why there are so many community clashes in the niger delta with the purpose of resolving conflict. the house of reps probe was just supposed to start. sky blue, i was not refering to anything you said when i mentioned the double taxation. i was addressing what someone esle had said, either on page 3 or 4, infering that bankole was corrupt because of a double taxation. i'm sorry if it seemed that i was addressing you there. concerning the constitutional review, let me remind you that when bankole first recommended it to the house, he meant it as a conference where different regions and interest groups in nigeria would be represented to agree on the way foward, which is what notable nigerians have been asking for, for years. it wasn't meant to be this drawn out, uninspireing review that it has become. you also talked about fiscal responsibility. if after recieving tenders of between 82-105 million for bullet proof cars, the house chose to buy at 58.2 million straight from the manufactorer, has the house not practiced fiscal responsibility. or are you really asking why a bullet proof car should cost so much. if that is the case then that question should be addressed to car manufactorers and not blamed on the house or bankole. about the inferior cars being supplied, the house also addressed it. it was because the price of the cars went up and the house was not willing to pay the difference. i'm sure you don't expect pan to make a loss on sales simply because the national assembly is involved. that would be fiscal irresponsibility on pan's part. you talked about bankole giving a consice answer. well, it could be that he felt that, no matter what he said people would still judge him? have you not had times in your life when you felt it was better to not to respond but instead allow the evidence eventually speak for itself. i know i have so i can't fault him for that. besides did he not very simply invite the efcc and icpc to investigate the matter. has he not left the matter in the hands of the appropriate authority. you accuse me of being ready to accept excuses. i, on the other hand, think you are being too judgemental. this is evidenced by the fact that you don't want to be bothered by the fact that there are explanations for the issues keyamo raised. you are more concerned about the fact that the young man has not addressed the nation on the issue. what is he supposed to say that an efcc, icpc investigation will not clearify. if he comes out to deny it, will that satisfy most people? seriously. |
since we turned our attention to keyamo, please has anything been said about the proposed niger delta probe. what has been said about the report on the power probe. or how are the officers invovled supposed to concentrate on these issues at a time like this. or if it were you, would you still be going after controversial issues when this kind of scandal was hanging over your head. believe me, no matter your innocence, you would be unable to focus on work at a time like this. they are mainly focusing on less controversial bills now. is the fact that the legislature is now independent not a change or have we forgotten that during obasonjo's time the national assembly was his personal possession. during ettehs time, was it not the property of the p.d.p. . did the opposition not constantly complain about the p.d.p hyjacking the national assemble during her time. was it not after he became speaker that the senate became more independent. is that not why the p.d.p. has shown several times that the leadership is against him. was it not in the dailies that during the p.d.p national convention he opposed the idea of concensus candidate and was insisting on the election still holding but was overruled by the leadership of the p.d.p. are these not examples of an independent man of change. before now had anybody ever asked how the government was run or how resources allocated were used in line with what they were provided for. were we aware of what happened to unspent funds at the end of the budgetary year. please lets allow ourselves to be fair. lets not turn this into a personal vendetta against the man. |
sky blue, your comments seem biased. you made an earlier comment about fiscal responsibility. you said that cars were paid for but inferior models were supplied. i quoted from punch the explanation for that. why didn't you address the issues. the truth is that most people already have preconcieved ideas about him based on the premise that "he is a politician, therefore he is corrupt". you mentioned the power probe. did you not read my comment before the one you quoted very well. have you forgotten that the papers were talking about the fact that the report was being brought before the house just before this diversion came about. was elumelu not accused of bribery in order quench the matter. after being cleared of the allegations, did agagu not threaten to sue him if the report came out( punch of a couple weeks ago). why is nobody else connecting the dots. has the house not been under pressure because of the release of this report. as per the niger delta probe, who has mentioned it since this keyamo matter started? it might not be a concern to you but i'm from the niger delta so i want the probe to start. the child is crawling towards the fire but the adults are focusing on the fact that the room is untidy. the bullet proof car for bankole cost 52.8 million even though the tenders were for between 82 - 105 million. bullet proof cars don't come cheap. they supplied inferior models because prices for the cars went up and the house was unwilling to pay the difference. due process was followed. i can assure you that the money from the double taxation did not enter bankole's pocket. he is not part of the firs. as for his having access to official cars in lagos and ogun states, are we saying that he seizes to be speaker when he is in lagos or ogun. or that his security should be reduced. the cars were not bought for dimeji bankole, they were bought for the speaker of the house of representatives. by virtue of his position, he needs a certain level of security anywhere he is. even when he is outside the country. he has a stipulated amount of security he can have and he has not overstepped that boundary. he has not done anything in that regard that is beyond what he is allowed to do legally. lets not be emotional as much as this is a digression, you talked about fraudulent elections. i know i have watched and read several interviews where bankole admitted that he came in as part of a fraudulent system but that he needed to do what he could to correct it. which member of the integrity group did not come through that same system. do you think the majority of the politicians want bankole and the integrity group to actually succeed. granted, the majority of the politicians are unsuitable. do you think they want the changed that bankole stands for. most of us here at one time or the other have worked within organisations. we know from experience that it is human nature to resist change, especially that which will cost us immediate gratification. did he not push for a constitutional review in which different sides would contribute. was the matter not frustrated. what do we want from him. haba. lets be reasonable. it is very easy to throw stones. but like i said before, this is a digression. let me appeal to focused people to insist on the report coming out since our attention is being diverted from it. also, this niger delta probe must happen. we must not allow the few serious minded reps be bullied into brushing issues under the carpet. as long as we are singing keyamo's praise, then tell me how will the few serious ones among them be encouraged to continue to push for change. if it were you, and the old guard is frustrating your efforts and now your integrity is being questioned, would you be encouraged to continue. nobody here can deny the fact that there has been improvement in the way the house is being run since this young man got there. if nothing else the national assembly is now independent of the executive and they take their oversight functions more seriously. i can assure you that david mark had nothing to do with it. the senate took its cue from the reps. it started with bankole and the integrity group. and as long as he is speaker for a few more years, the executive will permanently loose its hold over the legislature. amen. |
good people of nairaland, please indulge me. i would as respectfully as possible like to comment on the commenteries. i think it cheapens the seriousness of the issue when people just make emotional statements. we are talking here about issues. statements that bankole is guilty simply based on the fact that he is a politician, in my very humble opinion, give the impression that the writer is just being emotional. please let us, as intelligent men and women give well thought through responses. it is this penchant for making such biased statements that makes me avoid political discuss. nozu said "this is what one gets in the remaining nigeria;lost souls, very confused set of people" in response to a previous comment i left. i'm assuming that he meant that as a diss. now young man, what are you basing that comment on. are you saying that my arguement was unintelligent or are you just dismissing it because it wasn't what you want to hear. a lot of people have commented that keyamo's motives are not important. that is very naive. the man is making claims that are very serious. his claims will affect the direction nigeria will go and you think his intentions are not important, haba. saying that they bought televisions for 500k is not much information to go by if you do not tell me the brand and size of the t.v. i'm going to assume that there are people here who are aware that there are t.vs in shops in this country that go for even more. let's try not to let our emotions cloud our senses please. even peperspray, who i want to believe is just trying to defend someone he sees as being victimized, fell into the emotional trap. lets not turn this issue into 'market woman' gist. for those of you claiming that keyamo gave cold hard facts. did he give facts or did he make allegations. there is a fundermental difference. allegations can be made by distorting facts. for example he claims that (according to punch, november 3) mercedes benz s.600 car (bullet proof) that (treated) cost them 52.8 million naira straight from manufactorer. the first question should be "how much is the going rate for that specification in the market right now. according to quotation submitted, between 82-105 million naira. i'm no math wiz, but 52.8 seems cheaper. or, are we REALLY saying that the fourth most powerful man in this country does not require the protection of a bullet proof car. is it his fault that such cars don't come cheap. keyamo claims that the cars supplied were inferior to those paid for. the said manufactorer says its because between payment and delivery, the price went up and since the house refused to pay the difference, they simply supplied what the money paid, could cover. like i said, facts or allegations. lets not forget that keyamo is a lawyer and thus, has the ability to distort facts. like i said in my last post, lets not allow the p.d.p manipulate us in order to remove someone who they see as independent minded in order to replace him with a puppet. country people, i don talk my own. |
life is short. if owning fabulous shoes makes life more bearable, then you go girl, is what i say. just make sure you don't go into debt bacause of it. |
this is exactly what keyamo was paid to do. in the last couple of days after discussing with intelligent minds, i can now say that this keyamo thing is not about his trying to blackmail anybody. PLEASE, i beg you all in the name of God to suspend all former prejudices, and try to open your minds. nigerian politicians are corrupt, granted, but this issue is deeper than that. according to house schedule, in the last week, issues that were supposed to come before the house included the power committee report, for which agagu (according to a national newspaper) was going to sue elumelu, and a probe on how funds that were given to the niger delta states were spent, to acertain why there is no developement there. it seems too much of a coincidence that a corrupt lawyer just happened to come up with these grave accusations just in time to divert attention from these very key issues. so far the said "lawyer" has been going on a publicity ride, using the press to heat up the polity. of course the press is happy to be used because it is at times like these that even people that don't usually buy newspapers bring out their hard earned money to buy. if the nigerian government is serious about fighting corruption then the sss need to pick up keyamo in order to find out who has paid him to divert attention. if he is not arrested then i will know that somebody really high up is behind this. before you all decend on me, since everybody here is a thinking person who is capable of stepping out of hysteria and analysing information, let us use our God given brains and forget about what popular opinion is. am i the only one that has noticed that since this shameless self promoter started his accusations,( that, dare i add, i have still not seen what the main accused person personally gained, since it has not yet been acertained that due proccess was not followed or even the breakdown of and what the market prices of each item is.) the house has been unable to follow the proposed schedule. why was it this week, that serious political watchers were looking foward to, that this scandal broke. who can really be behind this plot. between the power probe result and the niger delta probe, i'm sure we'll find the brains behind this because i can assure you that all keyamo is concerned with is the money he has been paid and how he will milk the publicity from this for all its worth for himself but more importantly, for his puppet master. p.s before posting, i noticed that someone asked why not give keyano the benefit of the doubt. my darling, because what is at stake is too serious. if you allow him continue to divert our focus, then we will be the same people who one year from now will accuse the house of reps of spending so much money on probe and yet no result.God forbide that it should happen but, let me asure you that if the speaker is removed, then all investigations as to how government is run and how resources are spent will be stopped. my dear, this thing we are discussing is to deep to allow nonentities come in and pull our emotional strings for their personal gain. for now let me leave with this question, who gains from bankole's impeachment. who is his (God forbid) most likely successor. the integrity group has given us the best candidate, so lets not allow ourselves to be used by the pdp to install a puppet as speaker. like i said before, granted nigerian politicians are "all" corrupt but this issue is a lot deeper than what we are being led to believe. |
kobojunkie, with all due respect, when a man with a reputation of being a thief stands in the market sqaure to shout "the palace is on fire" wise people will stop and ask "what are his motives". the most likely motive is to get everybody running to the palace so that he can steal. keyamo is a very intelligent man. he is went to ekpoma which means he is also street wise. anybody with half functioning brain cell knows that the best way to get nigerians emotional is to shout corruption. think about it, since mandela's release from prison, every musician in search of a hit song sings about "our corrupt leaders". don't get me wrong, i'm not saying that by far the majority of them are not motivated by self interest. yes they are but then who can with a clear conscience say that the leadership is not a mirror of the general corrupt society. but that is a topic for another day. my problem with this issue is that, for the first time i can actually see the national assembly as an arm of government seperate from the executive and when i ponder on it i realise that this real seperation of powers started when this young man became speaker. i'm now seeing the house of reps exercise powers i never knew they had. i know we were taught the theories in school but i'm beginning to see them exercised them in real life. i see a young man ready to ask questions that no one in his position was ready to ask before. in the midst of these i notice most people are more concerned about his marital status and his age. so when a keyamo, who past experience has taught me is just a self serving, corrupt man, comes out with allegations that he has not shown evidence of, then i think i will be stupid not to recognise the fact that he is either trying to make money or is working for people intent on discrediting the speaker. and before you convince yourself that keyamo is not capable of these things, let me ask you, why not? because he claims to work for the common man? is it everyone that claims to be born again and speaks in tongues that is a real child of God. my dear, like i said, i have had the opportunity of having access to information about the real man so i know not to take his cries of wolf seriously. i'm sure if you dig around yourself you will discover something about the human being that he is. |

keyamo should shut the f*ck up. he is really begining to piss me off. the guy is one of the most manipulative and corrupt people i have come in contact with. blackmailing people for his personal gain. if he has evidence he should bring it out. how shameless can a human being be. the time is fast approaching when all his corruption will come out and everybody will know the real keyamo. i always avoid involving myself in political talk because i believe everybody has a right to yarn their rubbish but this is too much especially since i know the kind of person he is. somebody needs to expose him. let me assure y'all that all this is because he is out to make money and the people involved are ignoring him so this is his way of threatening them. and yes that is my real name. i know the guy is capable of comming after me but let me say this, if you try me, you are trying God. the retard needs to stop trying to side track serious minded people and look for an honest means of making money instead of blackmail. |
first you have to cut away the dead end, so trim your hair. as long as you have split ends, your hair will not grow. also diet. take a lot of vitamin rich foods. if you lead a busy life and so don't eat well balanced food, there are good vitamin brands in the market. also make sure your hair is always clean as too much product in the hair, or even sweat, can cause the hair to break. condition it at least once a week, steam every six weeks (but never the same day as your retouch). relaxers make the hair sensitve and heat from the steaming will be too harsh on the hair. also ladies, i know our salons like to put their hair dryers on the highest heat so as to get it dry fast, but what they are doing is drying out your hair. its even worse when they put oil based hair cream before using so much heat because its frying your hair follicles. a simple homemade recipe that you can use to grow your hair is to mix olive oil and coconut oil (available from those women that sell herbs) and massage it into your scalp every few days. good luck |
my sister having smooth skin is a lifestyle choice. the aim is to make sure that the skin is always clean. cleanse twice a day. NEVER, EVER go to bed with make up on. use a scrub at least every other day. avoid touching your face during the day to prevent introducing germs. no matter what the big english that the "experts" use, acne prone skin simply means that the skin is sensitive to germs. so avoid anything that will introduce germs to the skin. also, DO NOT PICK AT THE PIMPLES. its hard to see a zit on your face and hold yourself from squeezing it but, you have to look inside yourself and find the strength. good luck. |
it depends on how much you are ready to spend. i make corsets in ankara mix. if you are interested, all you have to do is order. if you want something western, mobo stocks them but if your budget is generous then try deola sageo. |
it will be such a pity if, like several generations before us, we allow oyinbo people be the ones who make money off what is indeginously african. we always want white people to validate something before we accept it. every other continent has woken up to the fact that what they have to offer on the world stage is culture. africa, africa, africa. how many times did i call your name. when mathew williamson came up with an ankara collection any wise person would have known ankara was the next big thing. the oyinbos will make all the money from ankara in front of us. trust the chinese, most of the ankara in balogun is made in china. africa, wake up. this day music festval thanks for providing an international platform for nigerian fashion designers. |

the proper attire for "clubbing" depends entirely on what the intention for being there is. if the purpose is to dance then comfort is key. clothes that will allow movement are the way to go. jeans, or if not possible, any comfortable pair of trousers or short. just be sure that they are very well cut. you don't want cheap or ordinary looking trousers. you should wear a nice, closely fitted top in cotton. make sure its frabric that will absurb sweat without showing. aviod black because you'll sweat sooner and more. also avoid heavy make-up because it will run. flat shoes of course. if the purpose is to show your fabulousness then girlfriend, you can go as sexy as you can handle. it just depends on whose attention you are trying to get. its a club. the look is fabulous casual. the higher the heels the better. |
if you are not sure what the dress code is then it go for a classic look that is timeless. black bootcut pants, white dress shirt (ruffles would be nice), killer heels, and a clutch will not let you down. you can carry a couple types of jewelry, flashy or casual, so when you see what the other guests are wearing you'll decide what is appropriate and wear it in the car. |
i use healthgate. its on norman williams. try them |
its funny that this topic came up. i attended a red carpet event two days ago and after coming up with my "fun won tan" outfit i remembered (yet again) that i still don't have a black clutch. i knew that a clutch was what i needed to put my outfit on point. for the first time since my mother gave birth to me i thought of asking any one of my fashionista friends for one. and then i remembered the daughter of whom i am, realizing my mother would turn in her grave because she considered such things desperate. i was brought up to make do with whatever i can afford. wearing other people's clothes is a sign of a fake lifestyle. period. don't put your eyes in another woman's property. |
first let me address the statement that house help is modern slavery. there are house keepers everywhere in the world. in nigeria we now have agencies that provide both day and live in help.there is dignity in labour so lets stop sounding like its a curse to take care of people as house keepers. besides don't we costantly complain about unemployment.all we should be concerned about is that under aged children are protected from child labour. second, all this talk about other people watching kids while parents work is getting annoying. why do we go through the trouble of educating ourselves if we are going to be berated for trying to make something of ourselves. the important thing is to make sure that parents spend quality time with their kids when they are around. make sure the kids have unlimited access to you and talk to them about everything. a stay at home mother who is not close to her children is just as bad as a woman who is never around. |
my brother once said to me, when i asked him for a nice way to let a guy you don't want him, that once you have tried to be subtle and he still doesn't get it, then its time to be firm. you have no business taking his calls. if he sends you sms do not even read it. if he comes to look for you don't open the door. if he manages to run into you, be polite. but still refuse to give him any attention. if it takes six months he'll get tired. p.s. if after this he is still persistant, note that you have a stalker on your hands so treat as a security threat. |
thanks for the info. it helps whenever i'm going through those periods of laziness. now i'm myself again |
its all about making sure your hair gets enough moisture. use coconut hair cream on your hair everyday while combing. also steam your hair with coconut oil once every month. however because of the fact that you add product to your hair everyday, you will have to wash it once a week or even every five days to prevent product build up which can cause your hair to break. |
if you are talking about the fact that she is holding a cigerette in her hand then, you'll be suprised how many women smoke. the difference is that because of how our culture views people smoking, especially women smoking, women have to do it behind closed doors and by open windows. i was shocked several times growing up by the kind of girls i found out or even caught smoking. i guess images like that are supposed to make smoking look sexy and bring women out of the closet. remember that tobacco companies can't advertise anymore so this is the only option the have left to push their product. lets not also forget that the tobacco companies are employers of labour. be that as it may, keep in mind that cigerettes kill, but even worse, the eat away at your teeth and cause lines and wrinkles. believe me your self esteem will go out the window if you look 65 when you are in fact 50. |

if the good Lord in His infinite mercy taught us how to do cosmetic surgery, then why not use it. everything that man knows how to do is by God's grace |
hi sophienwa, i really appreciate your suggestion. God bless |
sweetheart, in the next couple of days pay attention to whether or not your inner thighs rub against each other when you walk. i could just be that. however, if its not that then see a dermatologist. it most likely is just that though. |
