Religion / Man's Spirit Reportedly Pictured Leaving Body After Accident by AKAKAK(m): 2:20pm On Jul 18, 2016
Pictures were taken of how a man’s spirit was leaving his body after his losing his life during a fatal road accident. CNN reports that the picture was captured by a passing motorist at the scene of a fatal road accident involving a motorcycle and a vehicle in Kentucky, USA on Tuesday, July 12, 2016.

he picture shows the person’s spirit leaving his body just as an ambulance was working at the scene of the incident another passing motorist, Saul Vazquez, informed that the picture was taken by his dad as he passed by the scene of the accident on Tuesday. “I took this picture just few minutes ago from the cab of my truck. It was an accident between Campton and Stanton on the service road just off of the mountain parkway. “Zoom in and pay attention to the shadow just off the top of the state trooper hat. “All I say is I hope everyone involved is okay,” the Kentucky photographer wrote after posting the photo online. CNN reports that the man whose spirit was said to have appeared on the man’s camera was later confirmed dead in a hospital. Speaking on the issue, Scott C Waring of ufosightingsdaily.com, who reportedly has interest in the paranormal, stated: “This is absolutely mind boggling. “When an accident happened, someone took a photo and realised a spirit was moving upward from the dead body. “Although this is not a UFO or alien, it is paranormal and very exciting news indeed. “This confirms, that humans will not just disappear when we die, but our energy stays intact and lifts away from the shell of a body to go somewhere awesome.”

Celebrities / Lessons From Warren-buffett-mark-zuckerberg-surprising-money habits by AKAKAK(m): 2:27pm On Jul 15, 2016
Frugality is a subjective term. To the average Joe, it could mean eating meals at home or scouring the internet for cheap flights.

But to a billionaire, it means showing up to work in a T-shirt and jeans, driving a Toyota or Volkswagen, and, in some instances, foregoing the purchase of a private jet or lavish vacation home.

Surprisingly, some of the richest people on earth are incredibly frugal, each one with their own penny-pinching habits.

From eating lunch in the office cafeteria with their employees to residing in homes worth a fraction of what they could afford, these eight self-made billionaires--many of whom are also generous philanthropists--know the secret to keeping their net worth high.

Warren Buffett, chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, still lives in the same home he bought for $31,500 in 1958.
Net worth: $68.1 billion

The "Oracle of Omaha" is one of the wisest and most frugal billionaires around. Despite his status as one of the richest people on earth, he still lives in the same modest home he bought for $31,500 in 1958, doesn't carry a cell phone or have a computer at his desk, and once had a vanity license plate that read "THRIFTY," according to his 2009 biography. And when his friend of 25 years Bill Gates visits Omaha, Buffett picks Gates up from the airport himself.

Buffett also has a decidedly lowbrow palate, known not just for investing in junk-food purveyors like Burger King, Dairy Queen, and Coca-Cola, but also for filling up on them as well. The Buffett diet includes five Cokes a day, as well as Cheetos and potato chips.

At his annual shareholder's meeting in 2014, Buffett explained that his quality of life isn't affected by the amount of money he has:

"My life couldn't be happier. In fact, it'd be worse if I had six or eight houses. So, I have everything I need to have, and I don't need any more because it doesn't make a difference after a point."

Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook, drives a manual-transmission Volkswagen hatchback.
Net worth: $51.5 billion

Despite his status as one of the richest tech moguls on earth, Mark Zuckerberg leads a low-key lifestyle with his wife Priscilla Chan and their newborn daughter. The founder of Facebook has been unabashed about his simple T-shirt, hoodie, and jeans uniform.

"I really want to clear my life to make it so that I have to make as few decisions as possible about anything except how to best serve this community," Zuckerberg said.

The trappings of wealth have never impressed the 32-year-old, who in December 2015 announced he would donate 99 percent of his Facebook shares during his lifetime.

Zuckerberg chowed down on McDonald's shortly after marrying Chan in 2012 in the backyard of their $7 million Palo Alto home--a modest sum for such an expensive housing market and pocket change for a man worth more than $51 billion. In 2014, he traded in his $30,000 Acura for a manual-transmission Volkswagen hatchback.

Carlos Slim Helú, founder of Grupo Carso, has lived in the same six-bedroom house for more than 40 years.
Net worth: $31.6 billion

Rather than spending his fluctuating fortune, Carlos Slim funnels his billions back into the economy and his vast array of companies. He once mused to Reuters that wealth was like an orchard because "what you have to do is make it grow, reinvest to make it bigger, or diversify into other areas."

The 76-year-old is by far the richest man in Mexico, but he forgoes luxuries like private jets and yachts and reportedly still drives an old Mercedes-Benz. Slim runs his companies frugally, too, writing in staff handbooks that employees should always "maintain austerity in prosperous times (in times when the cow is fat with milk)."

The businessman has lived in the same six-bedroom house in Mexico for more than 40 years and routinely enjoys sharing home-cooked meals with his children and grandchildren. He's got a couple of known indulgences, including fine art--in honor of his late wife--and Cuban cigars, as well as an $80 million mansion in Manhattan, which he was trying to sell last spring.

Charlie Ergen, chairman of Dish Network, still packs a brown-bag lunch every day.
Net worth: $14.4 billion

Charlie Ergen is a notoriously frugal business leader, but he also nickels and dimes in his personal life. Ergen has said that his frugality hearkens back to his mother's childhood. "My mom grew up in the Depression," he told the Financial Times. "I don't have a mahogany desk."

The self-made billionaire packs a lunch of a sandwich and Gatorade before work every day and, until recently, he shared hotel rooms with colleagues during travel.

Amancio Ortega, founder of Inditex, eats lunch with his employees in the Zara headquarters cafeteria.
Net worth: $71.1 billion

Earlier this year, the founder of Zara was named the second-richest person on earth, but that probably won't change his personal-spending habits. Ortega has led an extremely private life for years, often retreating to his quiet apartment in La Coruña, Spain, with his wife, frequenting the same coffee shop, and eating lunch with his employees in the Zara headquarters cafeteria.

Like fellow billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, the Spanish fashion magnate maintains a simple uniform of a blue blazer, white shirt, and gray pants every day. Some say he shouldn't be considered "frugal" given his ownership of a $45 million Bombardier private jet, but he doesn't travel often because he's too busy working.

Ingvar Kamprad, founder of Ikea, still flies economy and often rides the bus.
Net worth: $39.3 billion

Kamprad is one of the richest people in Europe, but you wouldn't know it flying next to him in economy class or eating lunch with him in Ikea's cafeteria. Save for a flashy spending spree in the 1960s, when he drove a Porsche and wore custom-made suits, the Swedish furniture-maker has been incredibly frugal--some might even say "cheap"--with his billions, including driving a decades-old Volvo and frequently riding the bus.

The 90-year-old is worth more than $39 billion, but when he moved home to Sweden in 2013 after spending 40 years in Switzerland--where he was dodging Sweden's high taxes--he happily returned to his modest one-story ranch home.

Azim Premji, chairman of Wipro, drives secondhand cars and always reminds employees to turn off the lights at the office.
Net worth: $16.6 billion

India's wealthiest tech tycoon has also been called "the bare-bones billionaire" and someone who "makes Uncle Scrooge look like Santa Claus."

The 70-year-old is worth $16.6 billion, but that hasn't stopped him from jumping on one of India's three-wheel auto rickshaws to get home from the airport or keeping tabs on the toilet-paper usage at Wipro offices. Premji also flies economy, drives secondhand cars, and always reminds employees to turn off the lights at the office.

Judy Faulkner, founder of Epic Systems, says she's never been interested in "living lavishly."
Net worth: $2.5 billion

The press-shy software programmer built Epic--a private health care company that sells medical-records software--from the ground up, launching in 1979 with about $70,000 in capital.

Her company's success has made her a multibillionaire, but the 72-year-old has never been one to splurge. According to reports, Faulkner has had only two cars in the past 15 years and has lived with her husband in the same Madison, Wisconsin, suburb for nearly three decades.

In a May 2015 letter announcing her Giving Pledge membership and a promise to donate half of her fortune to charity, Faulkner wrote, "I never had any personal desire to be a wealthy billionaire living lavishly," and said that, instead, she'll use her money to help others gain access to "food, warmth, shelter, health care, education."

Pictured below is the British prime minister assisting to move his things house of the government house since he stepping down tomorrow for another person (Theresa May). This is how humble these people are and how they see political positions as an opportunity to serve and not to be served. I hope our leaders in Nigeria and Africa Generally can take a cue from this.

Politics / Ex-naf Chief Returns N2.6b To FG by AKAKAK(m): 8:04am On Jun 30, 2016
The Federal High Court in Lagos heard on Wednesday that a former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu (rtd), charged with laundering N21 billion, has returned N2.6 billion to the Federal Government.

His lawyer, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN), while arguing Amosu’s bail application after his arraignment before Justice Mohammed Idris, said his client had returned “colossal sums” to the federal government.

The Nation gathered from a reliable source that Amosu returned N2.6 billion to the government.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Amosu alongside a former Chief of Accounts and Budgeting at NAF, Air Vice Marshal Jacob Adigun and a former Director of Finance and Budget at NAF, Air Commodore Olugbenga Gbadebo.

Companies arraigned with them are – Delfina Oil and Gas Limited, Mcallan Oil And Gas Limited, Hebron Housing and Properties Company Limited, Trapezites BDC, Fonds and Pricey Limited, Deegee Oil and Gas Limited, Timsegg Investment Limited and Solomon Health Care Limited.

EFCC accused them of converting N21 billion from the NAF on March 5, 2014 in Lagos.

They were also accused of concealing “proceeds of crime” and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 18(a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) (Amendment) Act, 2012 and punishable under Section 17(a).

Arguing the bail application, Ayorinde said his client, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, has always cooperated with the prosecution since his arrest in January and would not jump bail.

“He has remitted colossal sums of money to the federal government, although not in admittance of guilt, but out of cooperation with security agencies.

“My application is that bail be granted to the first defendant on self-recognisance. Let those terms be liberal. He has been reporting to the EFCC, sometimes twice a week. The first defendant will make himself available for trial,” the Senior Advocate said.

Adigun’s lawyer, Mr. Norrison Quakers (SAN), also, urged the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms.

Argentina have: Aguero, Di Maria, Higuian, Masherano but you're comparing him to CR that has Nani as his best team mate.

People thought Portugal will lose to Portugal and Messi will win Copa America but man no be God

If you had criticised Ronaldo for missing a penalty last week and you now sympathize with Messi for missing penalty then something iS wrong with you

Naani misses a chance and it is " why didn't CR 7 score". Higuian misses a chance and it become " Messi has poor teammates at Argentina"

I hope the media will just tear up Messi as they did Ronaldo for missing penalty.

Lionel Andre Messi just lost a penalty (The first in the shoot out) and cost Argentina the Copa America trophy, if it is Ronaldo now some people "no go let us hear word"

I am not from the oil producing area, but I agree with you every state or region should allowed to develop their regions and control their resources and contribute to the center that's why in USA Texas with oil is very developed more than others.

TooNoisy:
Only true Federalism can make Nigeria develop. This model of sharing Oil money at the center was doomed from the start. It encourages laziness and corruption. Governors just sit and expect to share money and after they have squandered it, they even ask for bail-out and debt forgivness.

Please let's adopt federalism, let each governor begin to think of ways to generate revenue for their state. We cannot all rely of Oil money. Besides, Oil is a finite resource.

Family / My Hubby Attempted To Rape My Younger Sister Several Times by AKAKAK(m): 9:15am On Jun 17, 2016
A 45-year-old trader, Mrs Cecilia Ayayi, has approached an Igando Customary Court in Lagos to end her 20-year-old marriage over her randy husband’s attempt to rape her younger sister. Cecilia told the court , yesterday , that her husband, John Ajayi, for who she had three children, had on many occasions attempted to rape her younger sister. “My sister left our house without any notice, when I called her to know why she packed out she told me that my husband had been trying to rape her whenever I am not at home. “That she had to leave because my husband may succeed in raping her one day,” a discomfited wife said. The petitioner also accused her husband of infidelity. “My husband is a womaniser; he brings girls, nursing mothers and divorcees into our matrimonial home. “On many occasions, he and his lovers had beaten me up wherever I tried to prevent them from entering our room. “He even impregnated one of the women,” she alleged. Cecilia said that her husband sent her packing because she was an illiterate. She added:”My husband sent me packing that he can no longer cope with an illiterate. The Court’s President, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, after listening to the couple, adjourned the case to July 12 for further hearing.

Politics / News PDP Governors Insist Sheriff Is Out, Supporters Fight With Machetes by AKAKAK(m): 8:19am On Jun 17, 2016
His removal is valid, court told

The battle for the control of the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) became fiercer yesterday.

Two groups of protesting youths ‎were locked in a physical battle during which machetes, sticks and other dangerous weapons were freely deployed.

Meanwhile, the PDP has told a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt that its former acting national chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff, was validly removed by the legally constituted May 21, 2016 national convention of the party in Port Harcourt.

It also maintained that the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led caretaker committee was duly appointed in line with the constitution of the party.

The party made the assertions during the hearing of its suit at the Federal High Court presided over by Justice Abdullahi yesterday.

Defendants in the suit are Sheriff, Prof. Adewole Oladipo (sued as themselves and as representing national officers ), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the State Security Service.

First to arrive for the continuing battle for the secretariat was the pro-Makarfi group of youths about 9:30 a.m., only for the pro-Sheriff group to arrive shortly after.

The two opposing groups were ‎peacefully trying to sing louder than each other when suddenly the youths supporting Sheriff approached the gate in front of which the pro-Makarfi youths had been staying.

For five minutes, serious fighting ensued during which machetes and cudgels were deployed. Then the pro-Markafi youths got the upper hand, chasing their pro-Sheriff opponents out of the secretariat.

Meanwhile, Sheriff has called off the earlier ‎press conference he had planned to address at the national secretariat. His media assistant, Inuwa Bwala, said he had another meeting but gave no details .

Over a dozen plainclothes officers had taken positions within the secretariat premises, though it could not be confirmed the person they were there to protect.

The forum of PDP governors rose from a meeting in the early hours of yesterday justifying the removal of Sheriff as national chairman of the party.

Briefing journalists on the outcome of the meeting the governors held with the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) ‎and National Assembly Caucus, Governor Ayo Fayose declared that the meeting advised the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government to stay away from the internal crisis of the PDP.

He said :”Rising from the meeting, we must put it in the public domain that the PDP, whatever we are going through today is a phase and very soon the whole issue will be over. But we need to put it very clearly that Nigeria as a country needs an opposition party to make the average Nigerian get value for his votes. Any attempt to destroy opposition in Nigeria is not going to be in the interest of democracy.”

On the alleged interference by the Federal Government in the crisis, Fayose ‎stated: “We stand as a party to condemn interference and strategic effort to destroy PDP in Nigeria.

“We want to make it very clear that the international community, well-meaning Nigerians must take note that as a party, we are prepared to give credible opposition to government in power that have so far achieved nothing in the space of one year of assumption of office.

“I want to say that efforts by PDP to put its house in order is our business and we are doing everything possible and want to appeal to the security agencies to please stay within the ambit of law and allow the PDP to put its house in order.”

On why the party dumped Sheriff, Fayose who admitted having invited the former governor to serve as chairman of the PDP, said: “Without doubt, I did not beg him but I supported his coming.

“I am not someone that will say I did not support Sheriff. But when you want to marry a woman, on the wedding day they tell you that the woman has HIV, will you still remain in the marriage? I am out of it.”

Also speaking to journalists after the meeting, Makarfi cautioned against the use of thugs in the crisis that had bedeviled the party, pointing out that this was how the deadly Boko Haram began.

“We reviewed all that have been going on in the party, especially since Monday. You are all witnesses to the thuggery that took place.

Actually, those who remember, know that was how Boko Haram was born. Thugs were brought into Abuja and some people forced themselves into the secretariat, in the process documents and some property belonging to the party cannot be accounted for. This cannot be without some support from some quarters, definitely not PDP.

“We have had the former chairman recorded saying that he was going to go beyond IG in order for him to gain access into the secretariat. We don’t know what he meant by beyond the IG but all of you are sensible enough to decide who ‘beyond IG’ could actually mean.”

He stressed, however ,that the meeting stood by the decisions taken at the May 21, 2016 convention of the party in Port Harcourt.

Counsel to the PDP, Oladejo Laminkanra (SAN) in an originating summons stated : “Modu Sheriff submitted himself for screening at the Port Harcourt National Convention. Realising that he had lost his bid to be national chairman, Modu Sheriff alone without consent and consultations with the National Executive Committee claimed he postponed the convention. Modu Sheriff had no such powers to postpone a convention approved by the National Executive Committee . “Modu Sheriff is not the chairman of PDP. He was never elected at any convention and he is subject to the extant judgment of Justice A.B. Mohammed (FCT High Court) which Modu Sheriff is curiously seeking to enforce. The FCT High Court Justice A.B. Mohammed had in judgment of May 18 , 2016 in FCT/CV/1443/2016 rejected Modu Sheriff’s argument that he is PDP Chairman until 2016,” he said.

The PDP argued that no court stopped the party from holding its national convention. It added that the national constitution of the PDP was also never suspended, hence the national convention derived its powers from the party’s constitution.

The party stated that the interim order of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt stopping Modu Sheriff from parading himself as PDP Chairman was still subsisting.

The PDP stated: “The Interim Order could not possibly lapse when Modu Sheriff had an application asking court to set aside the same order. It could not possibly lapse when Modu Sheriff was asking the name PDP to be struck out from the suit.

“An interim order met with the applications mentioned does not lapse until 14 days after arguments are taken. That is 14 days from May 16, 2016 “.

The party stated that the national convention was convened by the National Executive Committee headed by Sheriff, who himself participated in pre-convention events including the screening .

Justice Liman had last month directed the INEC to recognise the national caretaker committee appointed by the 2016 National Convention of the PDP in Port Harcourt on May 21, 2016.

The court also restrained Sheriff, Oladipo and other sacked members of the National Working Committee and National Executive Committee from parading themselves as officials of the PDP.

Politics / ‘why Power Supply Can’t Improve’ by AKAKAK(m): 8:10am On Jun 17, 2016
Militants destroy 23 gas pipelines, threaten extra 2000mw target
• National grid records eight systems collapse in one month
• Reps probe Manitoba over alleged corrupt practices

Faced with militants’ near-unrestrained successes in blowing up gas facilities in the Niger Delta, the Federal Government’s plan to add another 2000 megawatts (MW) by July may not be realised.

The Guardian learnt that militants have destroyed 23 gas pipelines across the Niger Delta states since they renewed attacks on national assets from February 14 to date.

Indeed, the shortage of gas supply to about 25 thermal stations in the country has critically impacted on power generation levels and further crippled power supply to consumers.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN)’s power generation statistics obtained by The Guardian yesterday showed that the nation is now generating about 2, 903MW, a far cry from about 140,000MW generation requirement estimated by the distribution companies (Discos).

To solve the gas-to-power problems, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is currently working on a new gas scheme that is expected to deliver about 70 per cent of the feedstock required by power plants across the country.

Already, the corporation said a total of 855 million standard cubic feet (mmsfcd) of gas would be added to the domestic gas supply following the completion and commissioning of four projects by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) and International Oil Companies (IOCs).

However, the Executive Director of the Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED), Sunday Oduntan, told The Guardian yesterday that concerns are high that the spate of attacks by the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) may jeopardise the plan which is expected to deliver about 2000MW by next month.

The 11 Discos across the country are already lamenting the poor power generation as it affects delivery and revenue generation on their part.

The Discos further linked frequent outages to the low allocation of energy from the national grid, while they continue to pursue their various embedded and captive power plants scattered across the nation.

Frequent system collapses in the sector are another source of worry for the stakeholders, as statistics show that the national grid has recorded about eight power collapses in the last one month. These occurred on 15th, 18th, 19th and 29th of May; and 1st, 2nd, 8th and 1th of June .

Oduntan who also confirmed the severe impact of the low generation status on their operations said the operators were working round the clock to move the sector forward.

He said: “The continued militancy is having a very devastating effect on all the Discos. But it is beyond us, there is nothing we can do about it, other than to pray that the militants will see reason and put national interest first.”

Oduntan said the Discos were worried that the activities of the NDA have halted the plans by the NNPC to make more gas available to the power stations, adding that the supply programme put in place by the corporation would have added another 2000MW to the national grid by next month.

“We have got everything ready in the area of generation, transmission and distribution, but it is very unfortunate the way things are going now, the July target may be a mirage,” he said.

However, he was optimistic that the Federal Government’s effort to develop the hydro power stations (Kanji, Jebba and Shiroro) would buoy power generation in the country, if it has enough political will to pursue the goal.

Also, the Head of Corporate Communications, Ikeja Electric, Felix Ofulue, said the outages experienced by consumers recently were beyond the control of the Discos, because they bordered on an issue of low energy supply from the national grid.

He said: “It is just one of the challenges that we face. It is a transmission issue, something that we cannot control. We can only manage our own problem, but when it comes to system collapse, we cannot control it.

“There is also apathy from the customers who believe that it is the Discos’ responsibilities. But the issue is that we cannot give what we don’t have.

Indeed, it has impacted negatively on the revenue of Discos.”

Stakeholders at the sixth edition of the meeting with power sector operators in Kano agreed to persuade oil and gas producers to explore better ways to boost oil production by using water instead of gas, in order to increase the amount of gas available for domestic consumption.

The meeting also recognised the need for the Discos to reinvigorate their efforts to replace obsolete transformers and deploy new ones as necessary even as they agreed to discharge their responsibility to provide transformers where required so that communities are not required to provide them at their own expense in order to get services they are prepared to pay for.

Commenting on safety issues in the sector, Ofulue, in another statement cautioned people against conducting commercial activities under power lines, warning of the imminent danger associated with sustained activities underneath cables that may be under stress from strong winds and rains.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives yesterday resolved to probe Manitoba Hydro international Nigeria Limited for alleged corrupt practices in its management of the TCN.

At the plenary presided over by Mr. Yakubu Dogara, the House directed its committees on power and public procurement to probe into the issue and report back to the House within one month.

Deputy chairman of the House committee on media and public relations, Mr. Jonathan Gbefwi who moved the motion observed that while the consideration of the management contract includes emoluments for 15 expatriates, only eight expatriates are working at the TCN.

He also alleged that the management company unlawfully revalidated a 2010 contract and awarded it to ABB India without due process, in flagrant violation of the public Procurement Act 2007.

He remarked that despite the harsh economic situation in the country, the managing director of TCN draws a monthly salary of N35, 500, 000 while other expatriates earn monthly incomes of N20,509, 000 and N19,100, 000 .

Business / Forex Policy: IMF Lauds CBN, Naira Appreciates by AKAKAK(m): 8:04am On Jun 17, 2016
Oyetunji Abioye

The local currency gained N12, rising from 367 to 355 against the United States dollar at the parallel market on Thursday, a day after the Central Bank of Nigeria released the much-awaited foreign exchange market framework.

Forex dealers and analysts said the naira-dollar exchange rate, which closed flat at 367 on Wednesday, started reacting to the new policy following a rise in the supply of the greenback at the parallel market on Thursday.

The International Monetary Fund on Thursday said it welcomed the decision by the CBN to abandon its currency peg and adopt a flexible exchange rate policy, saying this was important to reduce fiscal and external imbalances.

The CBN had said on Wednesday that a market-driven foreign exchange market would commence on Monday, in the process abandoning the peg of N197 to the dollar that it had supported for 16 months.

Experts, who spoke to our correspondent on Wednesday, lauded the CBN for its courage to implement the market-determined exchange rate policy, saying it would bring down prices and eliminate market distortions.

Traders said on Thursday that the naira would likely fall next week as the country switches to a flexible and market-driven exchange rate policy.

Analysts also said that the naira might slide to a record low when the new open-market foreign currency trading commenced on Monday.

“We are expecting an initial wide depreciation of the naira at the official window, but the rate could stabilise at around the present black market rate of 370, depending on how much dollars the central bank will be willing to push into the market,” a senior trader told Reuters.

However, the CBN has said it is “reasonably optimistic” the naira will settle at around 250 to the US dollar, according to Reuters.

While forecasting that that naira will initially weaken against the greenback following a flotation on Monday, the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, said the local currency would gain significantly over time.

Quoting a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari by the CBN governor was said to have noted that the naira would settle around 250 against the greenback.

“I must assure Your Excellency that we are indeed reasonably optimistic that at some point, the rate will settle around 250 naira,” Emefiele was quoted to have written by News Agency of Nigeria.

The letter, which briefs Buhari on the foreign exchange plan, says it could take three to four weeks to clear a $4bn backlog of foreign exchange demand.

Meanwhile, currency dealers and bank chiefs will meet CBN officials today (Friday) to discuss trading under the new interbank foreign exchange regime, according to a treasury source.

Members of the Financial Market Dealers Association met on Thursday to evaluate the new policy and determine how trading would work, the treasury source told Reuters.

IMF spokesman, Gerry Rice, told a weekly news briefing that the Fund wanted to see how effectively the naira exchange market would function once the new float system was put into effect on Monday.

“I think the announcement yesterday (Wednesday) to revise the guidelines for the operation of the Nigerian interbank foreign exchange market is an important and welcome step,” Rice told reporters, adding, “It will provide greater flexibility in that market, the foreign exchange market.”

Politics / EFCC Arrests Customs Ex-boss, Inde Dikko, Over Alleged N42b Scam by AKAKAK(m): 7:16am On Jun 17, 2016
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday arrested former Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko Inde, over allegation of N42 billion fraud during his tenure.

A reliable source, who confided in The Guardian yesterday, said that Inde arrived at the commission’s office at 10:00 a.m. and was still being grilled as at 7:00 p.m. when this report was filed.

He said that Inde was being held for alleged criminal conspiracy, diversion of public funds, theft, abuse of office and living above legitimate means.

The source said operatives grilled him to explain how he got N2 billion to buy a mansion located at No. 1, Audu Ogbeh Street, Jabi, Abuja.

“There is also a further allegation that he diverted over N40 billion from Customs coffers. The funds were allegedly drawn from proceeds of the seven per cent cost of collection and one per cent comprehensive import supervision scheme”, the source said

Food / 24 Valuable Kitchen Tips by AKAKAK(m): 11:03pm On Jun 14, 2016
Let's learn some KITCHEN tips, your kitchen is
the most important room in your home. Alot
comes out from there, so let's learn some few
tricks. Works wonders.

1. If you happen to over-salt a pot of soup, just
drop in a peeled potato. The potato will absorb
the excess salt.

2. When boiling eggs, add a pinch of salt to keep
the shells from cracking.

3. Never put citrus fruits(Oranges,Lemons, limes,
etc) or tomatoes in the fridge. The low
temperatures degrade the aroma and flavor of
these fruits.(That's why our tomatoes don't last
in the fridge)

4. To clean iron cookl-ware, don’t use detergents.
Just scrub them with salt and a clean, dry paper
towel.

5. When storing empty airtight containers, throw
in a pinch of salt to keep them from getting
stinky.

6. If you are making gravy(stew) and accidentally
burn it, just pour it into a clean pan and continue
cooking it. Add sugar a little at a time, tasting as
you go to avoid 'over-sugaring'it. The sugar will
cancel out the burned taste.

7. Burned a pot of rice? Just place a piece of
white bread on top of the rice for 5-10 minutes to
draw out the burned flavour. Be careful not to
scrape the burned pieces off of the bottom of the
pan when serving the rice.

8. Before you chop fresh red peppers, rub a little
vegetable oil into your hands and your skin won’t
absorb the spiciness.

9. If you aren’t sure how fresh your eggs are,
place them in about four inches of water. Eggs
that stay on the bottom are fresh. If only one end
tips up, the egg is less fresh and should be used
soon. If it floats, it’s past the fresh stage.

10. To banish ants from the kitchen, find out
where they are coming in and cover the hole with
petroleum jelly(Vaseline). Ants won’t trek through
the jelly. If they are coming under a door, draw a
line on the floor with chalk. The little bugs also
won’t cross a line of chalk.

11. Don’t store your bananas in a bunch or in a
fruit bowl with other fruits. Separate your
bananas and place each in a different location.
Bananas release gases which cause fruits
(including other bananas) to ripen quickly.
Separating them will keep them fresh longer.

12. To keep potatoes from budding in the bag,
put an apple in with them.

13. If you manage to have some leftover wine,
cocktail drinks at the end of the evening, freeze it
in ice cube trays for easy addition to sauces
(white wine works wonders in sauces, i don't joke
with them) in the future.
14. After boiling pasta or potatoes, cool the water
and use it to water your house plants. The water
contains nutrients that your plants will love.

15. When defrosting meat from the freezer, pour
some vinegar over it. Not only does it tenderize
the meat; it will also bring down the freezing
temperature of the meat and cause it to thaw
quicker. # Noteevery woman should have vinegar
in her kitchen.

16. Do you cry while peeling off onions, then try
this. After peeling off your onions, refrigerate the
onions for atleast 5minutes, then dice it. You will
be glad you did.

17. For aluminium pans that are looking dull, just
boil some apple peels in them. This will brighten
up the aluminum and make your house smell
yummy.

18. If your salt is becoming lumpy, put a few
grains of rice in with it to absorb excess
moisture.

19. Always keep an aloe vera plant in your
kitchen. It’s invaluable when you scrape your arm
or burn your finger. Just break off a leaf and rub
the gel from the inside on the injury.

20. When making a soup, sauce, that ends up too
fatty or greasy, drop in an ice cube. The ice will
attract the fat, which you can then scoop out.
This works wonders

21. To reuse cooking oil without tasting whatever
was cooked in the oil previously, cook a 1/4″
piece of ginger in the oil. It will remove any
remaining flavors and odors.

22. If your milk always goes bad before you can
finish it, try adding a pinch of salt to the carton
when you first open it. It will stay fresh days
longer.

23. If two drinking glasses become stuck together
after stacking, it’s not impossible to unstick
them. Just put ice in the inner glass and

Politics / Why Is Nigeria Poor? by AKAKAK(m): 1:53pm On Jun 08, 2016
I never wrote the article below, but I agree with the Author and feel it is worth sharing.

As copied: Author unknown

The difference between the poor and rich nations is not the age of the Nation.
This could be demonstrated by countries like India and Egypt, which are more than 2000 years old and are still (relatively) poor countries.

On the other hand, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, which 150 years back were insignificant, are today developed and rich countries.

The difference between the poor and rich nation does not also depend on the available natural resources.
Japan has limited territory, 80% mountainous, unsuitable for agriculture or farming, but ranks third in world economy. The country is like an immense floating factory, importing raw material from the whole world and in turn exporting manufactured products.

Second example is Switzerland, it does not grow cocoa but produces the best chocolates in the world. In her small territory she rears animals and cultivates the land only for four month in a year, nevertheless manufactures the best milk products. A small country which is an image of security which has made it the strongest WORLD BANK.

Executives from rich countries who interact with their counterparts from poor countries show no significant intellectual differences. The racial or colour factors also do not evince importance: migrants heavy in laziness in their country of origin are forcefully productive in rich European countries.

What then is the difference?

The difference is the attitude of the people, moulded for many years by education and culture.

When we analyse the conduct of the people from the rich and developed countries, it is observed that a majority abide by the following principles of life:

1. Ethics, as basic principles.
2. Integrity.
3. Responsibility.
4. The respect for Laws and Regulations.
5. The respect from majority of citizens by right.
6. The love for work.
7. The effort to save and invest.
8. The will to be productive.
9. Punctuality.

In the poor countries a small minority follow these basic principles in their daily life.

We are not poor because we lack natural resources or because nature was cruel towards us.
We are poor because we lack attitude. We lack the will to follow and teach these principles of working of rich and developed societies.

WE ARE IN THIS STATE BECAUSE
WE WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OVER
EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE.

WE ARE IN THIS STATE BECAUSE WE SEE SOMETHING DONE WRONG
AND SAY - “LET IT BE”
WE SHOULD HAVE A SPIRITED MEMORY
AND ATTITUDE OF CARING, ONLY THEN WILL WE BE ABLE TO CHANGE OUR PRESENT STATE.

If you love your COUNTRY try and circulate this message so that as many people can reflect on this and CHANGE.
