Renovating buildings in Lagos? You need a permit from LASPPPA for activities like retiling, re-plastering, and aesthetic improvements. Experts stress that renovation permits ensure compliance with building codes, safety, and environmental standards. Many Lagos residents are unaware that renovating their residential or commercial buildings requires a permit. This includes activities like replacing floor tiles, changing windows and doors, and plumbing works. Failing to obtain a permit is illegal and contravenes the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Regulations, 2019. Here's what you need to know: - Submit your renovation application to LASPPPA with details of the renovation and any previous planning permits. - Pay a fee equal to 25% of the current processing fees. - Ensure your application meets the minimum planning standards applicable to the location. - Make necessary adjustments if your application doesn't meet the standards. Experts recommend obtaining renovation permits to ensure safe, legal, and high-standard renovation projects. They also call for increased public awareness and expansion of the LASPPPA workforce to ensure broader compliance.

In a heartwarming gesture, Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Tunji Disu, recently paid a visit to 94-year-old DCP Dame Stella Obuoforibo Okuyiga (Rtd), a pioneering female police officer who made history as one of the first twenty women to join the force in 1955. This remarkable act of kindness has been widely praised, marking the first time a senior officer has visited this trailblazing veteran. DCP Okuyiga's story is one of unwavering dedication, courage, and integrity. Born in 1929, she joined the Nigerian Police Force in 1955, at a time when women were rarely seen in law enforcement. Despite the challenges and gender biases she faced, she rose through the ranks, earning the respect of her colleagues and the admiration of her community. Her distinguished career was marked by numerous achievements, including her role in establishing the Women's Branch of the Nigerian Police Force. However, her unwavering commitment to upholding the law would ultimately lead to her forced retirement. In the early 1970s, DCP Okuyiga arrested a serving judge who had broken traffic laws. Despite the judge's attempts to use his position to intimidate her, she insisted that he must be prosecuted. Her stance sparked a chain reaction of events that would test her courage and resolve. The then-Supreme Military Council, led by General Olusegun Obasanjo, intervened in the matter, threatening her with dismissal. But DCP Okuyiga refused to back down, even when faced with the possibility of losing her job and her reputation. Her unwavering commitment to justice and her unshakeable integrity earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and the public. When the SMC decided to dismiss her without benefits, the then-Inspector General of Police, Adamu Suleiman, intervened, pleading her case and ensuring that she was asked to resign instead, preserving her meritorious service. Despite her forced retirement, DCP Okuyiga's legacy continued to inspire generations of police officers, particularly women, who saw her as a role model and a symbol of courage and determination. CP Tunji Disu's visit to DCP Okuyiga is a testament to her enduring legacy and a reminder of the importance of recognizing and celebrating the contributions of our nation's heroes. It's astonishing that this extraordinary woman, who embodies the values of valour and strength, has not received national recognition or honours for her selfless service. Let us honour DCP Dame Stella Obuoforibo Okuyiga (Rtd) for her unwavering commitment to justice, her unshakeable integrity, and her inspiring legacy. Her story serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration, reminding us that courage, determination, and a commitment to doing what is right can overcome even the greatest challenges. |

By Miftaudeen Raji The Minister of Works, David Umahi said the Landmark Beach Resort property will not be demolished in the cause of the 700-kilometer coastal road project intended to connect Lagos State with Calabar. Umahi disclosed this in an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday. The minister also said no jobs will be lost due to the Lagos-Calabar coastal road project. He said, “I was at Landmark yesterday to see what was going on. Despite claims that 12,000 jobs will be lost, I told Landmark that no jobs will be lost by what we’re doing. “What could be lost is the shoreline and the people that go to play at the shoreline. His facilities will be intact because we reduced the corridor by 50 metres. “I saw that there’s no permanent structure other than a few shanties along the shoreline that are affected. I told him that no job would be lost, and he agreed with me,” he said. The minister further stated, “Who owns the land is not supposed to be my problem, but the Federal Government (FG), by the Waterways Act and the recent Supreme Court judgement, gave the right of ownership of the shoreline to FG. 250 metres from the point of the shoreline, which means it belongs to FG. “However, we’re interested here because it’s an investment, and we’re happy with it. We are taking 50 metres of that shoreline, and it’s irrevocable. I also told him if he’s interested in the waterways, he should create one on top.” Recall that the Lagos State Government had issued a notice of demolition of the $200 Landmark Beach Resort, saying the property obstructs the planned route of the 700-kilometer coastal road project. The proprietor of Landamark Beach Resort, Paul Onwuanibe, in an interview with CNN, said he was given a notice to vacate his multimillion-dollar beach resort within seven days for its impending demolition. According to him, the Landmark property accommodates more than 80 businesses and sustains over 4,000 jobs directly. He added that the company claims it contributes more than N2 billion in taxes each year. The beach resort, regarded as one of the top tier tourism spots in Nigeria, received about a million local and foreign visitors last year. Onwuanibe explained he purchased the land in 2007, well before the coastal highway plans were formulated, and was left with mixed feelings after the demolition notice arrived, also prompting him to claim compensation. Recall that in March, the Federal Government started constructing the 700-kilometer Lagos – Calabar Coastal Highway, designed to extend through 9 states with two spurs leading to the Northern States. Umahi, disclosed this during the official handover of the first phase, which includes a 47.47-kilometer dual carriageway, to Hitech Construction Company Ltd. Umahi said the road would be built using concrete pavement. He added that since the Federal Government awarded the contract, Hitech Construction Company Limited has made significant progress, completing 1.3 kilometres of the required filling. The passage you are referring to is found in Isaiah 4:1, which says: "And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, 'We will eat our own bread and wear our own clothes; only let us be called by your name, to take away our reproach.'" This verse is a part of a prophetic passage in which Isaiah speaks about the future restoration and blessings that will come upon Jerusalem and the remnant of God's people. In this particular verse, Isaiah uses a metaphorical language to depict the desperate desire of women to find security and honor through marriage. The context of this passage suggests that during a time of great turmoil and scarcity, symbolized by the phrase "in that day," seven women will approach one man, expressing their willingness to provide for themselves and seeking marital union with him. It's important to note that this passage is not prescribing or endorsing polygamy but rather using a metaphorical scenario to emphasize the scarcity and desperation that will exist in that future time. Interpretations of this passage vary, and it is important to consider the broader context of the Bible and seek guidance from trusted religious leaders or theologians to gain a deeper understanding of its meaning. |

Truths9ja:Freind, that's not the only command in that chapter. Deu 22:11 KJV Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woollen and linen together. Why being selective in what to obey? The point is, that command is directed to a people for a reason. By the way who determines what belongs to a man or woman. Society or culture right? Then don't stress it. |

What's the significance of commissioning a project? Does this happen in the West or developed parts of the world. To me it's just another way to waste scarce resources. |
