PoliticsNAF Destroys Terrorists’ Training Facility In Borno by akelicious(op): 11:20am On Sep 13, 2019
he Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has destroyed an Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) training camp near Mallam Fatori on the fringes of Lake Chad in the Northern part of Borno.

Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information confirmed this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.

Daramola said the training facility was destroyed by the Air Task Force (ATF) of the Operation Lafiya Dole.

He explained that the operation was executed based on credible intelligence reports and confirmatory Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions.

Daramola said the ISR identified a building on one of the Lake Chad islands that was being used by the terrorists as a facility to indoctrinate and train new fighters.
“The ATF therefore dispatched its aircraft to attack the location, which upon arrival over the target area observed significant activity of the terrorists.

“The attack aircraft scored devastating hits on the building completely destroying it and neutralizing the ISWAP occupants.

The few other fighters seen fleeing the location were mopped-up by follow-on attacks,” he said.

The spokesman said the NAF, operating in concert with surface forces, would sustain its operations against the terrorists in the North East.

Science/TechnologyBbnaija 2019: I Did Not Have Sex With Gedoni- Khafi by akelicious(op): 10:49am On Sep 13, 2019
Khafi Kareem, one of the housemates in the ongoing BBNaija (S4) reality show has maintained that she did not have sex with love interest, Gedoni Ekpata.

She reiterated that she is still celibate and would not have sex on the show.

Nigeria News Agency reports that Khafi, an officer with the UK Metropolitan Police, disclosed this to other housemates while they shared stories of things unknown to other people about them.

The former Head of House said she has been celibate for years as a part of healing for some issues she had in her life at a point.

The news came as a surprise for many fans as Khafi was earlier reported to have had sex with now-evicted love interest, Gedoni Ekpata while he was still in the house.

The mystery was resolved when fellow housemate, Ike Oyeama, on Thursday, revealed that he and Diana, a fellow housemate planted a condom by Khafi and Gedoni’s bed as a prank. It sparked rumours that the duo had sex.

Ike told a shocked Khafi that he initially wanted to plant the prank for Omashola and Tacha but was almost caught by the latter, causing him to settle for Khafi and Gedoni.

Reacting to the news, Khafi said, “Everyone was going to think it was me and Gedoni but my mind is clear, my conscience is clear, it’s not us. It was very funny.

“Me and Gedoni looked at each other and was like, no; I am a very physically affectionate person. Nothing will happen in the house,” she said.

Interestingly, the clip of this discussion was only available on Showmax, DStv’s on-demand platform which few fans have access to, and not the regular BBNaija station.

ShowMax has additional stations that show exclusive BBNaija clips that put some of the discussions into context, leaving the audience with half information on the main channel.

In the Khafi and Gedoni alleged sex saga, some fans interpreted the prank as evidence and shared these opinions on various social media platforms.

This led to series of trolling and hate towards the duo of Khafi and Gedoni a.k.a Khadoni from some social media users.

On Aug. 13, The Sun Uk was the first international medium to publish fans’ speculation and infer that the 29-year-old UK Metro police officer was pregnant.

The story was analysed on major UK news channels, causing Khafi’s management to release a statement describing the news as misleading and untrue.

reports that, on his part, Gedoni has repeatedly said that they did not have sex and the rumours were unfounded.

When asked to address the sex rumours, Gedoni told Ebuka Obi-Uchendu that he was unhappy that the rumour went viral and felt terrible about the effects on Khafi’s chances in the show.

He added, “I think I will allow Khafi to ask whether we had sex or not. There were intense moments but sex, no.”

He also detailed the moment he felt sparks for the bubbly Khafi and stated that his feelings for her were real.

Alhaji Mohammed Abudullahi, Minister of State for Science and Technology, has advised parents to encourage their wards to study science as a subject in secondary school and course at tertiary institution in future.

Abudullahi gave the advice when the Karu Traditional Council, led by the Chairman of Karu Local Government Council, Mr Samuel Akala paid him a courtesy call in his office in Abuja on Thursday.

He said parents should to support their children to embrace the study of sciences; stressing that,“worldwide, nations have achieved development because of technology and innovation.’’

Abudullahi said the ministry would look into some issues raised by the chairman and connect the leaders of the council to the right agencies that would help them.

“I will make effort to introduce you to the relevant agencies of the government so that you can present the issues and see how they can be attended to.

“ I will also brainstorm with some of the directors to see areas we can offer our support, especially in the area of science and technology,’’ he said.

Abudullahi told his guests that the ministry had been in the fore front of promoting technology and innovation in the country.

“We have so many research institutions that produce first class materials and innovations to transform the nation’s economy.

“Our goal is to commercialise these researches so that they can be used to transform our economy,’’ he said.

Earlier, Akala appealed to the minister to support in the upgrading of the infrastructure in the area and to partner with the council on some development projects.

The chairman said the infrastructure in the area had been overstretched due to increase in population of the residents.

“ You are aware that 60 per cent of work force in the FCT resides in Karu Local Government and this development has presented us with both challenges and opportunities,’’ he said.

Akala, however, assured the minister of their prayer and support for him to succeed in office.

Also speaking, the Esu of Karu, Luka Baba thanked God for the elevation of one of the sons of the Local Council to ministerial position.

“The minister is from the local government and we are indeed very proud that our son has been elevated to this position.

“This is first the time that we are having a minister from the local government council. It is not easy but with our prayers and support, he will succeed,’’ he said.

Baba, also the Chairman, Karu Traditional Council told his host that Karu Local Government wass the most peaceful local government in the state.

“This is because we have been able to sensitise our people on the importance of living in peace.

“We have been able to work together as a family in the area, also we will work together as family to support in this task,’’ he said.

The Nigeria News Agency reports that Abdullahi is the former Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government before his new appointment.

PoliticsI Was Hated, Called “okoro Hausa” Because Of APC – Okorocha by akelicious(op): 9:35am On Sep 11, 2019
Sen. Rochas Okorocha, the immediate past governor of Imo, has lamented the humiliating treatment meted out to him by his party the All Progressives Congress (APC), in spite of his sacrifices and financial contributions to the party.

Okorocha, the senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, told newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday that he got evil reward from APC for his commitment to the course of the party especially in the South East.

He noted that he had to go contrary to his kinsmen and political associates just to ensure that the party was placed on a sound footing in Imo and in the South East, but was surprised that he reward was suspension.

“If you recall I was called all sorts of names like ‘Okoro Hausa’ and that I was building mosques and all that were associated with it.

“But I kept deaf ears because I felt that I was on the right course with my people.

“I was instrumental to bringing Adams Oshiomhole as national chairman of the APC and he cannot deny that fact.

“I took the troubles of APC in the South East and the APC I see now can easily tell Gov. Emeka Ihedioha to come to its fold if only he can fight Rochas.

“That is really an unfortunate situation and it has weakened my spirit and my faith to the party because I thought we are family working to advance the course of this nation.

“But the way it is going, it does not look like there will be a solution. And there seems to be silence everywhere.

”I don’t even know my stand about my suspension because for some time, I don’t know what is happening in APC.

“But for the silence all over, it just looks as if it is normal.

“So, I am just waiting and thinking of what next to do but I am still a member of APC and I love the party and will support it,” Okorocha said.

According to Okorocha, there is need for a change in the party’s leadership to ensure the party does not collapse after the exit of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Okorocha added that Buhari’s reputation appeared to be the binding factor of APC in addition to the fact that the North was arguably the major decider in Nigeria politics.

“I have never thought of leaving the party; I feel that time will take care of most things but my only worry is that the party may disappear with the exit of President Buhari.

“For the moment, Buhari seems to be the strongest pillar upon which this party is built.

“If nothing is done to correct the injustices in our party at the national level, then, I fear that this party may disappear with Buhari’s exit.

“Our party is already busy thinking about presidency in 2023 and not supporting the issue of governance which is what we have right now.

“The score of our party or its assessment depends on what we have done with governance and what we have done with politics.

“These are some of the problems we have and thinking that being APC is a platform to catch political power.

“People have begun to zone where the president will come from and where he will not come from, leaving the issue of governance; so, these have been some of the challenges we have as a party but I hope they will be addressed.

“But that cannot be complete unless we do some surgical movement in the leadership of the party,” Okorocha added.

He noted that Nigerians would judge their leaders on the basis of what they had done as a government before they could decide what to do with them in 2023.

The former Imo governor further said that he was not in a hurry to make decisions on the next line of action following his suspension from the party.

He, however, revealed that his inlaw, Mr Uche Nwosu, would return to APC from AA if he eventually reclaimed his governorship mandate.

On the allegations of misappropriation of funds during his tenure as the governor of Imo, Okorocha challenged Gov. Ihedioha to try to surpass his record rather than the negative campaign against his administration.

He also said: “I challenge any government to do 50 per cent of what I achieved in Imo. I left N48.5 billion for the new government to take off.

“It is either the government of Ihedioha is confused or it is not relevant, if not, no normal thinking person will begin to witch-hunt me after all that I achieved in Imo.”

He blamed his travails on some unnamed top leaders of the APC whom he accused of conniving with opposition elements in the state to undermine him politically.

Okorocha commended the judiciary for upholding his election describing the tribunal’s ruling as a “proof of his innocence” after INEC accused him of obtaining victory through duress.

PoliticsThe Tribunal Judgment Confirms That We Won In 2015 And We Won Again - Ekwunife by akelicious(op): 9:28am On Sep 10, 2019
The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial district, Senator Uche Ekwunife has described the judgment delivered on Monday by the election petition tribunal sitting in Awka as a vindication that she won both the 2015 and the 2019 Senatorial elections.

She spoke shortly after the tribunal affirmed her the duly elected Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial district.

Delivering judgment on the petition by Senator Victor Umeh and his party the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) seeking to nullify the election of Senator Ekwunife, the Justice Esther O. Haruna-led tribunal affirmed that Senator Uche Ekwunife's nomination as the candidate of the People's Democratic Party is in compliance with the electoral act. The tribunal also noted that the petitioners failed to show any credible evidence to prove any incidence of over voting, and hence dismissed the petition for lack of merit.

Reacting to the judgment, Ekwunife thanked the judiciary for being the hope of the common 'woman'. She described the judgment as a vindication that she won in 2015 and again in 2019.

While commending her opponent Senator Victor Umeh for putting up a good fight, Ekwunife urged him and his supporters to join her in the task of rebuilding the Senatorial zone. She appreciated her supporters who came out enmass to show solidarity with her over her victory in court, describing the victory as a true reflection of the wishes of the people.

Recall that Senator Uche Ekwunife during the February 23, 2019 general election defeated her rival Senator Victor Umeh of APGA with a total of 118,484 votes as against Umeh's 81,429 votes, winning in the entire seven local governments of the Senatorial district. Her victory which sparked a wave of jubilation was described by many as a reflection of Senator Ekwunife's acceptance by the people of Anambra Central.

PoliticsWe Can’t Stop Xenophobic Attacks, S/african Defence Minister Says by akelicious(op): 4:31pm On Sep 09, 2019
Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, South Africa’s Defence Minister said on Monday that the attacks against foreigners in South Africa were planned by criminals and that government can’t prevent it.

Mapisa-Nqakula who said this in an interview with eNCA, a local channel described South Africa as an angry nation and insisted that the government can’t prevent the ongoing violence.

“The reality is that we have an angry nation. What’s happening can never be prevented by any government,” she said.

According to her the death of two people during a clash in Johannesburg CBD on Sunday Sept. 8, could have been avoided but that it was well orchestrated by criminal elements.

She however, said the xenophobic attacks were not politically motivated.

“People are saying some heads of state decided not to attend WEF; we should be talking about why this whole thing is coinciding with the World Economic Forum,” Mapisa-Nqakula said.

She said: “People are saying it is xenophobic attacks but it is not the first time we have had them in the past; here, we have criminals that have read the situation and are aware that we have challenges right now.

“We have talked on the issues of high rate of unemployment, of some foreign nationals who are not conducting themselves in an appropriate manner as we would expect, those breaking the bylaws of the country, and you now have criminal elements who have decided that we are going to use all of those things to find reasons to attack people.

“It is unfortunate and should not happen. The reality is that we need to have a serious dialogue about what is happening and we must take responsibility. The reality is that we are an angry nation and we must talk about it.

“Why are we an angry nation? Why are we so determined to collapse our project of nation building and social cohesion? We need to hold hands together between government and all state entities and the civil society and find solutions to what is happening,” Mapisa-Nqakula added.

Parading the suspects at Tactical Air Command, Nigeria Air force, Makurdi on Saturday, the Force Commander of OPWS, Major General Adeyemi Yekini said that 13 of the suspects were arrested in Gboko and Katsina-Ala areas of Benue State.

Speaking to newsmen, suspected arms supplier, Andrew Imbwase aka Don Moji admitted that he was arrested for illegally supplying arms and ammunition.
He said, “I was contracted to supply weapons and I contacted somebody in Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State.

“The last time, I supplied 2000 ammunitions to politicians in Gboko and I got my supply through (one) Dauda Atara, who is my friend. I am the one who led the army to his house in North Bank after l was arrested.

“I know Gana (wanted crime kingpin) and I supplied weapons to him through one of my maternal uncles who spoke to me about him. I have been in the business of weapons supply before the introduction of the amnesty programme by Governor Samuel Ortom. I was working with one of my late brothers.

“Later on, I committed a crime in which I was taken into custody for a very long time. So when the last general election was around the corner, I was brought out to come and assist some politicians. Anwar said that the group, in a letter sent to the governor and signed by the West African Regional Coordinator, Mr Samson Theodore, looked at the major sectors that were likely to improve the living standards of the majority of people in the state as against the few individuals before selecting Ganduje for the award.

“We carefully selected these areas: education, health agriculture, security, economy, infrastructural development and politics, with concentration on supremacy of political party or parties as the case may be.

Anwar quoted the group in the letter titled “Why Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje Picks First Position in 100 Days in Office” as saying that Ganduje was selected after the Mid-Year Democracy Review Meeting of the group.

“Your intention to establish College of Education, (Technical) for Women is considered by our panel of research, as genuine policy pronouncement. This will also go a long way in boosting Girl child education in the state.

“Ganduje made a clear pronouncement that both basic and secondary education will be free and compulsory.

“We are amazed that your policy pronouncement on free and compulsory basic and secondary education has become a reality.’’

Christianity EtcChurches Have Failed Nigeria - Rev. Ayankeye by akelicious(op): 4:30am On Sep 03, 2019
Rev. (Dr) Ola Ayankeye, Deputy President (Academics), Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary (NBTS), Ogbomoso, has attributed the challenges in the country to the failure of churches to preach undiluted gospel.

Ayankeye said this on Monday in Ogbomoso at a news conference heralding the 2019 NBTS Ministers’ Conference.

The ministers’ conference, with the theme “Guard the Gospel”, is expected to commence on Sept. 9, at the seminary in Ogbomoso. No fewer than 5,000 ministers from across the world and denominations are expected at the conference.

Ayankeye attributed the security challenges rocking the nation to failure of the church to reach out to unbelievers and speak truth to power.

“The seminary has recognised the problem of washing down the gospel. The Bible says the gospel is God’s power unto salvation.

“You know when people don’t understand God, they behave anyhow. So to “Guard the Gospel” here is talking about getting yourself equipped, understand, apply, teach and lead the gospel.

“If you do that, others will see you and learn from you in a way that they will want to live their lives to ensure transformation of the society.

“By that, all the problems we are facing will be reduced drastically,” he said.

The cleric affirmed that recklessness on the part of the leaders and the followers was because many Nigerians were not spiritually grounded, stressing the need for the nation’s leaders to work with the church to restore its fortunes.

While noting that the gospel was central to the transformation of the lives of Nigerians, he said that the ministers’ conference is aimed at recharging church ministers to live up to their roles of guiding the nation’s leaders aright.

Ayankeye debunked insinuations that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) was involved in partisan politics, saying that the association was only playing its role as a stakeholder in the nation’s project.

“When we say partisan politics, has CAN ever planned to take over Aso Rock? No. The fact that the one who is wrong is not from my tribe doesn’t make me an enemy of that person.

“So, because the person speaking does not belong to us, therefore, he is partisan. But if he is speaking what I want to hear, he is not practising partisan politics. Is that what we are saying?

“Objectivity should be allowed in our polity so that whatever anybody says should be considered rather than the person saying it. We should value issues rather than personality.

“CAN should continue to be what it is. To be CAN does not mean it should not speak about what is going on in the country. If CAN does not speak, then, it is not playing its expected role,” he said.

The cleric added that this year’s conference would focus more on equipping the ministers, stressing that adequate security had been provided to ensure a smooth event.

Rev. (Dr) Gabriel Olaniyan, the Deputy President (Advancement) and Rev. (Dr) Dele Oluwole, the Registrar, pointed to the huge funds expended on purchasing ammunition to combat insecurity as evidence of poor leadership.

They noted that the nation’s security challenges would be minimal if government, over the years, had invested hugely on people’s welfare through provision of social and physical infrastructure.

Among those expected at the conference are the CAN President, Rev. (Dr) Samson Ayokunle, Chairman, Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), Rev. Olumide Kehinde, NBC Vice-President (Ministerial), Rev. Dickson Madoghwe and NBTS President, Rev. Emiola Nihinlola.

PoliticsYou Can't Incite IPOB Members Against Ugwuanyi - Coalition Tells Critics by akelicious(op): 3:49am On Sep 03, 2019
Our attention has been drawn to the fabricated story designed to incite members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) against the Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Gburugburu).

In a statement signed by Dr. Edwin Obune, National Coordinator of the coalition, the group denied report making round in the social media which alleged that Gov. Ugwuanyi was trailed to a social event in New Jersey, United States of America by IPOB members.

The group noted that Gov. Ugwuanyi is the darling of everybody, both Igbos and non-Igbos including the IPOB members because of his purposeful leadership, good governance drive and participatory democracy in all parts of Enugu State and therefore, no need for anybody to trail him to anywhere for whatever reason.

It is on record that Governor Ugwuanyi remains the first and only Governor in the Southeast region and Nigeria at large to have recruited and deployed Forest Guard operatives to their various posts for the purpose of securing lives and properties in all the communities in the state.

Accordingly, there is no doubt that some pro-active security measures of the Governor like mounting of Vigilantee or Neighbourhood Watch group in all communities of the state, sending Anti-Kidnapping Bill to the state House of Assembly, purchasing of 260 vehicles and motorcycles with state of the art communication gadgets, inauguration of Agro-Rangers in the state as well as providing logistical supports to all federal security agencies in the state among other strides have stemmed the tide of the sudden security lapses experienced in the state last month.

Therefore, Gov. Ugwuanyi has not offended anybody or groups including the IPOB members to warrant trailing him to anywhere for any purpose.

In fact, notable Igbo groups like Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo, Southeast Governors Forum, Enugu State Chapter of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties among other groups have come out to praise the Governor for establishing Forest Guards as well as mounting formidable security structures to tackling the menace of criminality and banditry in the state.

In spite of all these, the Governor is not leaving any stone unturned in his desire to make the state a crime-free society.

Therefore, we view the story in the social media as an attempt to incite IPOB members against our God-fearing Governor after several efforts had failed in the past.

IPOB members are discernible enough and will never allow themselves to be dragged in to fighting any political battle for any selfish group or individuals in Enugu State.

Therefore, no matter how hard they try by adopting strategy after strategies in the execution of their evil plot against the government and people of the state, Enugu State will continue to be in the Hands of God.

Signed:

Dr. Edwin Obune,
National Coordinator,
Enugu Youth Coalition

PoliticsAfrican Countries Import $50bn Worth Of Food Annually–afdb by akelicious(op): 2:05pm On Aug 31, 2019
The African Development Bank (AfDB), says African countries import nearly 50 billion dollars net of food annually.

A statement by AfDB’s Communication and External Relations Department said the bank’s Vice President for Agriculture, Human, and Social Development, Jennifer Blanke said this at a panel discussion at the 7th Tokyo International Conference in Japan.

The Nigeria News Agency reports that the conference which began on Aug. 28 in Tokyo, ended on Aug. 30.

The theme of the conference was: “Advancing Africa’s Development through People, Technology, and Innovation.’’

Blanke explained that it was unfortunate that in spite that the continent was holding 60 per cent of the world’s arable land, it still imported food.

She said investing in Africa’s food markets, governments could win the fight against stunting and improve nutrition across the continent.

Blanke said that with support from institutions like the AfDB, the results would be a win-win situation for all.

“There is a business case for governments to invest in grey matter, or brainpower, and this requires much more nutritious diets.

“With most people in Africa getting their food from local markets, business opportunities for healthy foods abound everywhere in the food system and potential investors are urged to engage and explore,” he said.

Blanke, however, added that women in agriculture were an overlooked stakeholder group, saying that in most parts of Africa, most farmers were women.

She disclosed that the bank’s Affirmative Finance Action for Women in Africa initiative known as AFAWA, sought to support women entrepreneurs in Africa.

According to her, through AFAWA the AfDB aimed to raise at least 300 million dollars for a guarantee facility will spur lending to African women entrepreneurs.

PoliticsFuel Scarcity Disrupts Airlift, Leaves Pilgrims Stranded In Saudi Arabia by akelicious(op): 5:43am On Aug 31, 2019
The scarcity of aviation fuel yesterday bit harder on local operations, as airlines had difficulties carrying out both scheduled and chartered operations.

The Guardian learnt that the development has affected the ongoing airlift of hajj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia, with some of the visitors still stranded in the holy land.

For instance, no fewer than 265 passengers of a charter operator, Skypower Express Airlines, are currently delayed in Saudi Arabia.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Skypower Express Airlines, Capt. Muhammed Joji, confirmed the development.

Joji said attempts to buy fuel in Lagos and Kano were futile, but eventually bought the product at very exorbitant rate, which enabled the airline to continue with the second leg of the exercise.

He said at least 265 pilgrims that were enlisted on the carrier were airlifted out of Saudi Arabia on Thursday night with a Boeing 777 aircraft leased from a local operator.

He further explained that another batch of 265 pilgrims would be airlifted back to Nigeria on Saturday (today).

Joji added that the scarcity of the product in the local scene was affecting flight operations in the industry and called on the government to make the product available to airlines.

“It is unfortunate that we don’t have fuel anywhere in Nigeria. I think this is sabotage. How can a country has three refineries and can’t get aviation fuel to supply to its airlines. Apart from local operators, other foreign carriers operating into Nigeria are equally faced with the same challenge. It’s high time we settled this issue one and for all, ” he said.

Chief Operating Officer of an aviation fuel marketing company, however, dismissed the scarcity, saying “any airline that is ready to pay for service will not have a short supply.

CrimeLASG Impounds 125 Motorcycles For Flouting Traffic Regulations by akelicious(op): 12:57pm On Aug 29, 2019
The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Agency (Task Force) says it has impounded 125 motorcycles from operators for flouting traffic regulations and security reasons.

The Chairman of the agency, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, said on Thursday in Lagos that the motorcycles were impounded around Ejigbo and Cele Bus Stops on Wednesday.

Egbeyemi said that the agency had commenced clamp down on illegal commercial motorcycle operators plying restricted routes, including all inner streets across Lagos for security reasons.

He said that the agency was compelled to embark on the crackdown, sequel to series of complaints received on daily basis from innocent members of the public.

According to him, members of the public have complained about criminal activities perpetrated by the illegal commercial motorcycle operators early in the morning and late at night.

”We are going to ensure that there is total compliance with the Lagos Traffic Regulations by all commercial motorcycle operators across Lagos.

“These include motorcycle operators in all our local governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), as well as by those operating within inner streets.

”Motorcycle operators must avoid restricted routes, not carry more than one passenger, pregnant woman, adult with baby and child below 12 years.

”The operator must not install any musical gadgets, must wear an apron, not operate beyond 10.00p.m, operate with a rider’s permit and have their motorcycles registered with the state government,’’ he said.

Egbeyemi said research conducted by the state government revealed that most riders of the illegal commercial motorcycles were not from Nigeria, but from neighbouring countries.

The agency chairman said that some of them were also involved in criminal activities in the state.

He, therefore, warned all commercial motorcycle operators to ensure that their motorcycles were duly registered with the state government.

“Anyone caught will be seriously dealt with in accordance with the law,’’ he warned.

Egbeyemi also urged the general public, especially motorists to ensure that their valuable items were safely kept while in traffic.

He called for the cooperation of all residents in providing useful security information about criminal activities around them to security agencies through the Lagos State free Emergency Toll Lines 112 and 767.
