Prophet Temitope Joshua, the founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, will on Nov. 5 appear before a coroner's inquest investigating the recent collapse of its guest house.

The Lagos State Coroner, Oyetade Komolafe, announced Joshua's appearance on Friday at the resumption of the inquest at an Ikeja High Court.

The inquest was instituted under the Lagos State Coroner’s System Law No. 7 of 2007 for the purpose of unraveling the cause of the incident.

Komolafe said the physical appearance of the church's founder was important to the inquest, adding that his lawyer, Jude Nnadi (SAN), should advise him accordingly.

``The court has summoned him, let him come and tell us what he knows. He cannot sit over there and be sending words to us that he cannot come.

 ``The court has said that for the purpose of what we are doing that he should come over," the coroner said.

He said the contractor in charge of the collapsed building and the witnesses of the Police would also testify on Nov. 5.

Komolafe also directed the church to provide the list of the people lodged at the collapsed building to the court at the next adjournment fixed for Oct. 28.

``We must expedite action on the issue of the bodies knowing full well that majority of them are not Nigerians.

``One of the most important thing for us is to identify these bodies," he added.

Unconfirmed reports coming in reveals that the Secretary General of Northern based Islamic terrorist group, Boko Haram, Mallam Danladi Ahmadu, has stated that the agreement with the Federal Government is still valid.

 

Ahmadu, it would be recalled represented the group in the recent ceasefire negotiation agreement with the Nigerian government.

 

Ahmadu disclosed that the final meeting between the group and the Federal Government to finally seal the ceasefire agreement has been scheduled for Monday in Ndjamena, Chad, and to be supervised by the Chadian leader, Idriss Darby.

 

Danladi Ahmadu, who spoke in the Hausa service of the Voice of America on Friday, affirmed that the Chibok Girls would surely be released on Monday to the Chadian President, Idriss Darby, for onward presentation to the Nigerian government.

 

He added that an enlarged meeting of the group has been fixed for the weekend to prepare ground for the Monday meeting with the Federal government, affirming that the final ceasefire and the release of the Chibok girls are promises that will surely be fulfilled by the group.

 

Ahmadu also disclosed to VOA that the group and the Federal government are in close consultations over arrangements for the Monday meeting in Chad.

 

Commenting on the latest kidnap of over 40 women and girls in the border villages between Adamawa and Borno states, the Secretary General maintained that as far as Boko Haram is concerned it is not aware of the latest kidnap and attacks.

 

He added that the group is investigating the latest kidnap and attacks to determine the involvement of its members, admitting that many anti-social groups have infiltrated Boko Haram.

 

Danladi Ahmadu stated that political thugs, armed robbers, kidnappers, hired assassins and other anti-social groups now parade themselves as members of the sect, but was quick to add that if the ceasefire agreement is sealed all the groups would fizzle out.

 

It will be recalled that no fewer than 50 women and girls were abducted by unknown gunmen from Gartu in Michika, Adamawa state and Waga Mongoro, a border village between Madagali in Adamawa and Gwoza in Borno state after a ceasefire agreement with the insurgents was announced by Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh.

The Sudanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr Tagelsir Ali, is dead, the country’s embassy confirmed on Friday in Abuja.

The Media Advisor to the embassy, Mohammed Abdulrahman  said that Ali, 66, died at about 1a.m. on Friday at the National Hospital, Abuja.

“He had malaria; there were some complications and he passed away around 1 a.m. early this morning.

“There is a Presidential jet coming by 5 p.m. to take the remains to Sudan for burial.

“He was 66 years old. He loved working in Nigeria and had zeal to develop the bilateral relationship between Sudan and Nigeria and was able to stretch himself very well,” he said.

Abdulrahman said that the embassy had received many visitors since the diplomat’s demise was announced, adding that a condolence register had been opened for him at the embassy.

Contacted, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Martin Uhomoibhi, to NAN that the ministry was aware of the ambassador’s death.
