slimshay: Akinalabi, dude you are 2 centuries late. In 1800s when people were complaining that the robust side of football was not being allowed enough, they banded together and formed Rugby. See your options are growing. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (In Arsenal We Trust) by akinalabi(m): 1:21pm On Mar 01, 2010 |
tayoccu: @akinlabi what then is the motive of fifa preaching the gospel of fair play? after all football is just a contact sport. players can just break each others bones it don't matter, footie is a contact sport. right? listen to yourself you sound like a sadistic person. Fair play does not mean no hard tackles. Right? There is nothing be sadistic about supporting the physical and robust side of football. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (In Arsenal We Trust) by akinalabi(m): 1:08pm On Mar 01, 2010 |
slimshay: Tayoccu God bless you. That is very much my point. How much force does a player need going into a 50-50 tackle. Gallas went into a 50-50 tackle totally mistimed which ended up on another players ankle. Said player was well ready to take the pitch the next game. That is simply because he knew not to apply force enough to break a man's leg in a tackle.
In this case Akinlabi wants us to accept it was just a bad tackle, when the swing of a leg was enough to break another man leg?!!! Are you shitting me?!! It is this silly hard tackle mentality when idiotic teams confront Arsenal that results in all this nonsense. And in a media driven hard football culture which we are safe to say is biased against Arsenal what the hell more do you expect?!!
This was an horror waiting to happen. Les than 3 weeks ago, Arsene was complaingin about this incessant fouling on our players. And this man-u fan wants us to believe we would have pretended it didnt happen if we didnt have a leg break. And he's here talking about emotions. Old boy take your time oh!!!!
This poo wont receive any media coverage other than he is a good boy and Wenger is whinging and going over the top, unless of course it is england's hope for glory, then we will be seeing centre spreads of what a foot looks and and people will be receiving more biology than they ever did in high school!! And the inner workings of an oxygen machine. What utter rubbish!!
3 times in 4 years is f.Ucki.ng enough. This time somebody has to have this one on his conscience!!! I know you all think he was pretending when he was crying. Quit whinning. We know football is now a non contact sport but some of us wants it to go back to the old, get on with it game. The way Stuart Pearce attempted to run on a broken ankle. It was a hard, mis timed tackle. Any neutral will tell you that. I bet if you watch any match not involving Arsenal and someone makes that tackle without that end result, you will say we should get on with it. From Debosky's post, Hull are the most fould team in the league. Are Hull fans raving the way you guys are? Ramsey was a casualty of war. That's it. Move on. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (In Arsenal We Trust) by akinalabi(m): 12:45pm On Mar 01, 2010 |
tayoccu: @akinlabi did you see how hard shawcross swung his foot for a 50-50 ball? he swung like he was making a goal line clearance. injury or not that was a straight red. Yes it was hard. Nothing wrong with going in very very hard. It wasnt high and the studs were not showing. He swung it and players slide in and swing for 90 minutes or no one raises an eye brown. Without that horrific end result, if the referee had red carded him, we would have been saying it was a soft sending off. tayoccu: shawcroww has sent 3 players on "medical leave", does the FA have to wait for him to send a 4th, or wait for one of englands's brightest stars to get hurt before they do something about such reckless tackles? When football was still a contact sport, I used to enjoy the hard tackles dished out by the likes of Sounnes and Pearce and I read and enjoyed stories about people like Chelsea's Ron Harris. He is still a hero at Chelsea. He wasn't nicknamed "Chopper" for nothing. Such players have sent more than 3 players on medical leaves in the past and they are heroes today. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (In Arsenal We Trust) by akinalabi(m): 11:03am On Mar 01, 2010 |
debosky: You still don't get it - it was RECKLESS!! You are not getting it as well. If there was no broken leg, you wouldnt have mentioned anything about that tackle after the match. Without a broken leg, the highest he would have got was a yellow card. The red card shown was as a result of the ref seeing the broken leg. debosky: Who said he should be jailed? He should simply be banned for a period of time with some semblance to the damage he caused for reckless behaviour SIMPLE. It was in italics. I simply meant the "lynch" him syndrome Arsenal fans are going on about. debosky: Call it a 'cliche' all you want, but it is not an 'emotion' that
Only one top-flight team, Hull City, have suffered more fouls this season than Arsenal. I guess that means Hull is being targeted as well. debosky: Your empty 'rationality' is nothing but an attempt to wave away the evidence - it is incontrovertible. You cannot have three career threatening injuries against opponents known for their 'physical' approach and call it a 'coincidence' or 'emotion'. Stop these conspiracy theories. You're the ones at the receiving end now, it could be anyone else later. debosky: Again, the lack of thinking afflicting many here will not be lifted till one of their own is affected - that is the fact of the matter. You've actually cememted my point. You are on about this not because its an Arsenal player. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (In Arsenal We Trust) by akinalabi(m): 10:44am On Mar 01, 2010 |
debosky: It was a BAD TACKLE - If Pulis and Wenger can admit such, then I don't know what you're going on about saying it was 'ok'. After what has happened, no one dares say it was not a bad tackle. I cant imagine PULIS saying it was ok. In a politically correct world we live in, he just has to condem the tackle. debosky: I guess till it happens to a Utd player some of you will not reason properly. I knew it. I know you are saying all these from a perspective of an Arsenal fan. And that is why I talked about emotions. If he was a United player, yes I will feel bad and I will wish he had pulled away from that tackle. Looking at the replay over and over again, I wont say he should be jailed like you all are clamouring. When Pedro Duscher broke Bachams metatarsal in 2002, I took it as a tackle gone bad. I know a broken metatarsal is not in any way as bad as Ramsey's injury, the point is that when you are on the receiving end and there is no proven intention as the replay has shown, you have to accept it. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (In Arsenal We Trust) by akinalabi(m): 8:54am On Mar 01, 2010 |
eldee: It has now become a norm for coaches and 'analysts' to say 'take the physical approach against Arsenal' or 'Stop them from playing the Arsenal way'. Why don't we all play fair, didn't United trash us properly this season?? That is becoming a cliche and it is boring. Shawcross probably wouldnt have gotten any card if Ramsey's leg was not broken. I know emotions are running high and everyone is sad about what has happened to a young lad but I really think the tackle is OK for a game of football for me. If you body check someone and he goes on to fall and break his head, we will say we should ban anyone that body checks for 3 months. Emotions are running high but we should not analyze based on emotions. Its really really bad for Ramsey. |

sophiawod: @Akin, inasmuch as I agree with you that banks are business ventures, I will also like to bring to your notice that this whole problem in the financial industry was caused by financial misconduct on the path of the management of these banks (lack of Corporate governance etc). Yes, there have been financial misconducts but that is not the issue. The issue is that there is a situation on ground. The business can no longer (whatever the reson is) keep all the staff. They needed to downsize and that is what they have done. There should be no sentiments attached to it. Everyone should take it on the chin and move on. If eventually those people start their own businesses in future, they will have to hire and fire as well. Life goes on. |

I had the way you know your job is intact is when you login and you are allowed in,buh when u log in and no access then you no longer work there. Were they paid while they were working? If yes then its no problem for me. We have to look at the situation not only from the side of the employee but also the employer. I'm sure they did this because they had to. When they were employing people, it was a business decision. Now, that they are downsizing, it is also a business decision. Nothing personal. |
