Actually, it has more to do with trying to have an informed discussion with someone who is unable to understand the difference between leadership and growth. And frankly speaking, I have neither the time or energy to be going back and forth on something that fundamental.
BascoVanVeli:
Lol u don't have anything meaningful to say.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 9:11pm On Nov 13, 2021
Dude,
Unfortunately, can't help if you continuously struggle to understand the difference between leadership and growth.
Wish you all the best.
BascoVanVeli:
U are trying to twist the most basis of statements. Was it leadership that made her play such a good game? I am saying she doesn't getting swallowed by the moment meaning she wouldn't all of a sudden disappear while playing for the super falcons. That has nothing to do with leadership.

Ur comment about Payne and Ajibade is exactly what I have been telling u. U basically are using my words but mixing them around.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 6:27am On Nov 13, 2021
Yea. They have been poor - haven't won a single game and are on the verge of being relegated.
Plumptre seems to be the one consistent performer. Hopefully, a bigger club will come knocking on the door for her during the transfer window.
Schemerkhiz:
Any of you here following up with Ashleigh Plumptre and Leicester City Women WSL games here??

I can send 99% of their match full videos here..!
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 6:25am On Nov 13, 2021
I am in general agreement with the players you mentioned, with the exception of Ngozi Okobi. I think she is done and has nothing left in the tank. That was evidenced by her very poor performance during the ABC Invitational and I think she knows the writing is on the wall for her, as Randy seemed to have little confidence in her. Really not impressed with Joy Bokiri's recent performances.

Million naira question: Why hasn't Osare Igbinovia been given a look in?
Schemerkhiz:
Yeah.. Right now Randy Waldrum is gradually fitting in Regina Otu in place of Rita Chikwelu and it would be better we allow her blend well first.. the other Player i wanted to see in that position was Christy Ucheibe of Benfica FC but she seems not to have been able to honour the few call up she has gotten...

Regina Otu and Christy Ucheibe as DM
Halimatu Ayinde and Rasheedat Ajibade playing Centrally/Box-to-Box
Tony Payne and Ngozi Okobi still at the Attacking Midfield position..

Joy Bokiri still need to improve on her decision making on the pitch though she looks energetic.

Chikwelu on the verge of retirement.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS:
1. Like I stated earlier, it might behoove you to avail yourself on what Leadership and Growth mean, from a footballing perspective. You really seem to be conflating the two.
Being handed the captains band portrays leadership potential, not growth. Growth is the progression at becoming better in one's craft which translates into field generalship.

2. Regarding Payne and Ajibade struggling in the midfield against Ghana, that was because neither player was a defensive oriented player - both are forward leaning midfielders (AMs) and not DMs. So, the outcome was no surprise.

3. It could also be a lose-lose situation, if not properly managed. Abiodun is still on her growth curve and she is developing well, which is quite impressive. The biggest mistake that could be made is setting the young lady up for failure, by rushing her into a role she is a bit premature for.

BascoVanVeli:
I didn't ask u anything. I explained how wearing the band showed growth, stay with me.

Toni Payne is an attacking midfielder and Chikwelu has already been coming off the bench? We used Ajibade and Payne in the midfield and could barely get hold of the ball against Ghana. We have a player that not only can come close to their attacking ability but also be the ball winner the team needs. Seems like a win win to me.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 12:36am On Nov 13, 2021
Two different things. It may help for you to understand the difference.
If your opinion is that neither Chikwelu nor Payne is capable of doing what Ajibola did in those matches, then hurray for you.
My assertion still stands.
BascoVanVeli:
Which one is growth and leadership? I am telling u that she put on that captain's band and became even more fantastic. Meaning she won't get swallowed by the big moments. She is ready to go.

Is it Chikwelu that passes perfectlyhuh Ayinde is coming back from injury so u can stop padding ur point with her name. None of Chikwelu, Ajibade and Payne can do the dirty work that Deborah does at the level she does.

Oshoala was a super falcon before her U20 heroics so I don't see why she can't do both. It is not like she plays 40 matches a season for her club.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 12:32am On Nov 13, 2021
You meant 'Younger Players'... wink wink
BascoVanVeli:
We have had younger players in the fold before. That excuse is very weak
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 12:30am On Nov 13, 2021
Most of the people you named here played at least two (2) U20 WWC and were 'experienced', having played several years in the Nigerian women's league for Nigeria before making the jump to the Super Falcons.
GeneralDae:
Exactly. The likes of Oparanozie, Orji, and Chikwelu were at their peak in women's football while at the U20 falconets category. This excuse of too young to play for the falcons is not a strong one in my opinion.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 11:36pm On Nov 12, 2021
Being captain is about leadership, not growth.
She needs to learn how to pass the ball better, read and anticipate plays better and be quicker on the ball. All these attributes come with playing with and learning from battle scarred veterans, like Halimatu, Chikwelu, Payne, Ajibade and others.
Like I stated earlier, we need to let her develop and not stunt her growth by rushing her into a role she is totally not prepared for. You will be setting her up for failure if you do that.

Besides, her primary focus now is the U20 WWC qualifier against Congo.
BascoVanVeli:
She just captained rivers angels in the biggest club competition on the continent that's grown enough for me. Regina Otu and Rita Chikwelu are not half as mobile as Deborah. Unless u are going to bring back Ayinde right now there is no one on that team offering what Deborah does. We have had younger players on the team so this cannot be an excuse.

SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 10:24pm On Nov 12, 2021
For me, the most important competition on the NFF female calender now is the U20 WWC.
Nigeria's future is at stake and it is a MUST that we qualify for that tournament, for the development of the Women's game.
Super, super important!!
Schemerkhiz:
She run tirelessly.. I think wearing the Captain band gave her more moral to play harder. I just pray we qualify for the U20 Women's World Cup so she can gain more experience before graduating to the Superfalcons..

Oluwatosin Demehin
Imuran Ramat
Abiodun Deborah
Precious Christopher
Damilola Koku... For the U20
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS:
No, she is not.
Good enough to understudy the likes of Rita Chikwelu, Halimatu Ayinde and perhaps Regina Otu, yes.
She is barely 20. Let her grow before throwing her into the sea and forcing her to sink or swim.
She needs to play in the U20 WC and if she stands out (I'm sure she will), then groom her into the full team.
She is a smart, lovable and intelligent young lady and I am supremely confident she will do well, as she has the right temperament and mentality to succeed in Europe.
But baby steps first.
BascoVanVeli:
She is good enough to start for the super falcons. We don't have a midfielder has industrious as her.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 5:15pm On Nov 12, 2021
Overall, this was good exposure for the girls that really matter - the ones currently in our U20 team.
Could have been a better outcome, but for poor planning and mediocre strategizing and tactical outlay by the coach.
He unnecessarily chopped and changed the team, in spite of having a very solid base to work from with the team that lost to Hassacass in the WAFU B tourney.
Extremely DUMB move on his part!
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 5:09pm On Nov 12, 2021
We all witnessed the quality Damilola Koku brought to the team.
Why the coach opted not to play her in the first 2 games is beyond me.
BascoVanVeli:
Perfect finish Koku
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 5:07pm On Nov 12, 2021
Very proud of her. She exudes the passion and drive known with Nigeria women's football. Looks like she made captain too.
Just hope that Nigeria makes it to the U20WC and she showcases her superb skills AND gets picked up by a top club in Europe.
BascoVanVeli:
Deborah Abiodun is playing possessed.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 11:47pm On Nov 09, 2021
Pick of the litter for me. Love her feistiness.
She is just 20 and is on track to becoming a great box to box midfielder, with the right grooming.
Hope Nigeria makes it to the U20 WC finals and hope she is picked up by one of the top clubs in Europe, as she may never actualize her full potential under any one of the current Nigerian coaches.
Wish her all the best!
Schemerkhiz:
Abiondun Deborah should be Groom now...
She would make a great Defensive, Central/Box-to-Box Midfielder..
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 7:51pm On Nov 09, 2021
Game over. Rivers Angels out.
2 straight losses.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 6:52pm On Nov 09, 2021
Like I said, dude, let it be and lets move on. Cheers.

Agree. Harsh call on RA.
But in general, officiating has been poor so far in this tournament and this call shouldn't be a surprise.
BascoVanVeli:
That is not a goal now. Why are they cheating like this
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 6:23pm On Nov 09, 2021
Not to brag, but I am supremely confident (and willing to bet the ranch) that I have watched much MORE football than you have ever watched.
Lets just leave it at that, dude.
BascoVanVeli:
U are talking like someone that doesn't watch football. Would this be the first time a team was unlucky. Even the commentator just said the loss was unfair
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 5:56pm On Nov 09, 2021
Not sure who he is referring to, but i'm not sure which high profile player of Nigerian decent out there that is being targeted to play for the country. The likes of Onumonu, Zogg and Plumptre hopefully, should become available once their documentation is finalized by FIFA.

Also, the NFF doesn't seem to have anything lined up for our girls during the November international window.
Schemerkhiz:
...“We will get those players hopefully all done by February. We will have more depth and a stronger group with those players we are bringing in. There are also a few more internationals that we’ve wanted to see but couldn’t for various reasons.

Hopefully, we can get some games in the November [international] break and look at these other internationals to make the team stronger. I will also be back in Nigeria to get a camp for the domestic players and take a closer look at a lot of them.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 5:26pm On Nov 09, 2021
Dude, you're the one who is reaching.
3 attempts and penalty shouts and hit the crossbar. I guess that counted for something as far as the score was concerned, right?
Give me a break!
The goals conceded are a reflection of the team structure and how they setup. If you have a weak spine (midfield), it impacts the whole team structure (Football 101).
Study about the dynamics of how a team is setup and then we can have an informed discussion.
BascoVanVeli:
How does that go to show anything concerning rivers angels? U are reaching, if u watched the match u would know rivers had the first 3 attempts and hit the woodwork. Even had 2 penalty shouts later on.

If the coach gets his act right I am still backing Rivers Angels to win it all. The loss could be a blessing in disguise for them and Okon.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 5:13pm On Nov 09, 2021
Tosinn Demehin had better bring her A+ game today - her stock is really plummeting.
She was below average in the last game.
Don't know why Damilola Koku is on the bench - she and Abiodun combined superbly in the midfield.
At least, the dummy of a coach decided to bench the useless old mummy, Evelyn Nwabuoku.
Schemerkhiz:
Rivers Angels Line Up
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 4:48pm On Nov 09, 2021
So much for the ASFAR team being the team to beat.
Just goes to show how bad Rivers Angels were. They sucked, big time!
Wouldn't be surprised if Hassacas wins the CL and RA don't make it out of the group.
BascoVanVeli:
Vihiga Queens lead ASFAR club 2-0. So much for me saying they are the best team in the tournament. This group is blown open
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 7:55pm On Nov 06, 2021
Why are you abusing them?
Wasn't it someone who selected them and coached them? That is where the blame should lie.
A team is a reflection of the coaches philosophy.
Edwin Okon is the unintelligent one here.

Also, apparently, the girls arrived in Cairo late last night. Seriouslyhuh
Very poor planning on the part of the NFF.
BOOOMNAIJA:
All those rivers angels girls are dumb....big eba, no sense...all of them.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 7:52pm On Nov 06, 2021
Why is it shocking?
Our girls did not deserve to win this match. They clearly came out second best when it came to footballing intelligence.
The better team won by far.

The bright spot for me was Debbie Abiodun who played well but was undone by the foolish team selection and poor tactics by Edwin Okon.
BascoVanVeli:
Shocking result
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 7:42pm On Nov 06, 2021
Hattrick from Saana Masoudi.
3-zip.
This Rivers Angels team is extremely poor and a direct reflection of the coach.
Very, very poor team. All gra-gra, no footballing intelligence.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 7:34pm On Nov 06, 2021
Na to just stand up and applaud that goal. Brilliant.
Nothing more to add.
Pidginwhisper:
Omo see dusting from that Morrocan. She cleared the defence. Fantastic goal grin grin
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 7:33pm On Nov 06, 2021
Men!!!!
The Morrocan captain Saana Masoudi (#18), who scored the first goal, just scored a brilliant second.
Took Demehin to school, big time.
Dribbled past the two central defenders, turning them inside out several times before scoring. Brilliant goal.
Goal of the tournament for me.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 7:20pm On Nov 06, 2021
62nd min.
Vivian Ikechukwu comes in.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 7:17pm On Nov 06, 2021
Old mama just elbowed the Morrocan #18. Totally unnecessary.
Could easily have gotten a red card there - was lucky it was just a yellow.
Dumb!
