Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do Nigerians Like To Worship Men Of God? by AKO1(m): 4:26pm On Aug 18, 2008 |
@ Topic
The men of God who promise miracles, signs and wonders etc are human beings we can see. Whereas the God that is behind them (or some of them) is invisible.
And seeing the invisible is something that cannot be done naturally. It can only be done by faith. Hence, people focus on the man and not on God. Simple. |

Christianity Etc › Re: How To Control Your Anger by AKO1(m): 3:24pm On Aug 17, 2008 |
ZUBY77: Once there was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he would have to hammer a nail into the fence in the backyard. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.
Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to control his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him back to the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, you also leave scars just like these holes." Next time you are about to lose your cool with someone dear to you, think about the fence full of holes and reconsider.
When all is said and done, "YOU CAN NEVER TAKE BACK SOMETHING YOU SAY BUT YOU CAN SPEND THE REST OF YOUR LIFE APOLOGIZING FOR IT." https://www.clipartof.com/images/emoticons/xsmall2/1233_hand_clapping.gif |

Cayon: As I got older I realize the healing effects of forgiveness; both for the one forgiving and the forgiven. A Pastor I know defined forgiveness as "enlightened self-interest". Meaning that in forgiving someone that offends you, you're actually doing yourself a greater favor. Or at least thats how God sees it. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Pre-Marital Sex Is Not Fornication by AKO1(m): 11:36pm On Aug 16, 2008 |
Gamine: What do i mean by Committed.
The bible says, A man shall leave his parents and cleave to his wife.
The bible never talked about White Wedding
If you show commitment by telling others about it.
registering your union in the court, in a church, it dosnt matter.
A life-long Commitment is what matters. Yes, but that dont make 'white weddings' wrong. Infact, 'white weddings' existed even in the bible days; a King in the NT condemend a man for coming to his son's wedding without a wedding garment, which gives the impression of a 'white wedding setting', etc. . . Personally I believe that in as much as it is not wrong for christians to get married in court et al., it is more ideal to be married by a Reverend/Pastor/endless titles in the company of a few believers; witnesses. It does not have to be in a church and you dont have to be in 'white wedding dress and suit'; for those who cant afford the luxury or want a quiet wedding. Again, thats my opinioin. |

Cayon:
Ure welcome! Yes, the father is like God, in the sense that God is always ready to welcome us back 1John 1:8-9 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. The father in the parable threw a feast for the prodigal son. Similarly, Luke 15:7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. The father in the parable loved his son in spite of everything he had done; before and after he rebelled. Similarly, Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness. |

Gamine: That verse has always been taken in the wrong context
What is a Breakthrough and where is it in the bible? 'Breakthrough' is like 'PUSH', human coinage. Nothing wrong as long as it directs you back to scripture. Much like in school, one would use acronyms to remember a long list of things, like BODMAS. It is not the acronyms that matter, it is the meaning of the acronyms. I think that 'breaktrue' (I dont use the word) is an answered prayer. More often than not it is used when the answer is spectacular. |
