That is to say the baptism of Christ Himself was nonsense?
Abi oh, as if John would get all those people wet and cold in the river just to sprinkle water on their heads. . . .

Again, its not the river thats important, its immersion.

A machine that can catch thieves was invented, and was to be tested.

The first place of testing was in USA and within 30 minutes it caught 500 thieves.

It was taken to Ghana and within 20 minutes it caught 100 thieves.

Next, it was then taken to Nigeria and within 5 minutes the machine was stolen!

And was later recovered at a Pastor's house

TV/MoviesProblem With Video Compression by AKO1(op): 9:00pm On Aug 12, 2008
Hello smiley

I have developed keen interest in video editing and have began to sharpen up my skills. I am currently using Adobe Premiere 1.5.

The problem I have is with compression. As we all know, the file size of a video is exponentially increased once it is edited and exported, so as to maintain the quality. If one tries to reduce the parameters before exporting (bit rate etc), it would reduce the quality of the video.

So please, those of you who are gurus in this stuff, how do you go about exporting your file such that it is able to fit on a CD and has excellent quality?

Thanks. smiley

Olympic opening uses girl's voice, not face

BEIJING (AP) - A 7-year-old Chinese girl's face was "not suitable" for the Olympics Opening Ceremony, so another little girl with a pixie smile lip-synched "Ode to the Motherland" -- the latest example of the lengths Beijing took for a perfect start to the Games.

A member of China's Politburo asked for the last-minute change to match one girl's face with another's voice, the ceremony's chief music director, Chen Qigang, said in an interview with Beijing Radio.

"The audience will understand that it's in the national interest," Chen said in a video of the interview posted online Sunday night.

What if you live in a desert, how will you be conducting baptism?
That doesn't change what the bible says, does it?

How can a person who is deaf and dumb make "confession unto salvation"?

If you were God, how would you handle these extreme cases?

Christianity EtcRe: Must A Christian Be Baptized In A River? by AKO1(m): 11:48am On Aug 12, 2008
I think that baptism requires a complete immersion in water. NOT NECESSARILY a river but in any body of water that will completely 'drown' the person. Why?

1. I usually like to check the Hebrew/Greek literal translation for controversial words like this because honestly, our English translators did not do an excellent job. The Greek word for baptize is 'baptizo'' and it literarilly means "to immerse, submerge; to make whelmed (i.e. fully wet); used only (in the New Testament) of ceremonial ablution, especially (technically) of the ordinance of Christian baptism:--Baptist, baptize, wash".

2. If Baptism did not require complete immersion, why would John have to go all the way to River Jordan just to sprinkle water on their foreheads? It makes a lot more sense to fetch water from the river and do the sprinkling on dry land, rather than getting the people all wet and cold.

Concerning drowning, it is better to stay in the shallow end.

Gamine:
Sorry Olaadegbu

don't come here with false doctrines.

Where is PUSH in the bible, please quote scriptures

thanks smiley
You're definately right, but the bible admonishes us to pray without ceasing. I dont think there is anything wrong with making up such acronyms as long as they point us back to the scriptures.

Speaking of which, here's one scripture that has almost literarilly 'revolutionalized' my prayer life:

"And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, he heareth us:
And if we know that He hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have desired of Him
" 1 John 5:14-15

The best place to find out the will of God is from His word, because He can never go back on what He has said for He is not a man that He should lie. Therefore, if there is any promise in His word that I desire for myself or for anyone, I can go to Him confidently, without any feeling of guilt or inferiority because I know that He hears me. And because I know that He hears me, I know that He has already answered. It may not come immediately but while I am waiting, I am continually rejoicing because it is no longer a question of "Will God do it"?, it's the assurance that I will see the physical (or otherwise) manifestation of the petition in His time, for there is a time and a season for everything under the sun.

Isn't that so heartwarming?

Bible is the words of men.
Should God have grabbed a pen and paper and written the bible in heaven, then thrown it down to the earth? Obviously no, that's why amongst other reasons, He gave men the ability to write.

@ Topic; one of the ways the devil is confusing the church is by bringing up useless arguments like these when the bible is glaringly clear on them.

That's why he (devil) would get someone as influencial as Oprah Winfrey to give her own idea on 'spirituality', and make it sound as logical and innocent as possible. But it has confused and derailed so many christians. He's quite smart.
