FoodRe: The Rice Thread (jollof, Fried Or White? by AKO1(m): 3:01pm On May 24, 2013
Most people don't make fried rice the way I like it: quite spicy, otherwise it just tastes like plain rice, oil and overcooked vegetables.

Nothing beats Mr Biggs Jollof Rice for me grin

As for white rice, it depends on how nice the stew/sauce is.
BusinessRe: Guaranty Trust Bank: More Branches Needed? by AKO1(m): 2:06pm On May 23, 2013
I was planning to open a GTB account for a while but just seeing the queue at the branch near my house all the time put me off.

Dis Guy: Another thing i dont understand with all banks= even with all their efficiency why they don't ever post anything to you, whats the point of taking customers address when you will be required to be physically present when you have a problem- all banks
statements are never posted, complaints will require physical presence etc etc- they should stop requesting your address then, imagine if other service providers also require proof of address like the banks do when opening an account
So that EFCC can know where to find you if you misbehave tongue
PoliticsRe: Insecurity- Obama Cancelled Visit To Nigeria by AKO1(m): 10:31am On May 23, 2013
This story is a bloody make-up. From the appalling grammar to the "United States Official who wished to remain anon". When last did you read an article where a US govt. official chose to remain anonymous?

Pathetic journalism.

Unfortunately I don't know any place specifically. But in my experience, getting formal training in your hobby makes you much, much better.

It's quite good!

Have you had any art training, short course etc or considered it? I think you should.

I've read Anthills (several times over as a set work in sec. school) and TFA.

I preferred TFA by a long mile.
HealthRe: Do You Still Bite Your Fingernails? by AKO1(m): 7:42pm On May 17, 2013
I stopped sometime last year. It was so weird/great cutting my nails with a nail clipper grin

One day I was really stressed and relapsed. I haven't stopped since then cry

I think this post is motivation to stop again. If I can give any advice from my six-week hiatus, it would be to just stop. I don't think there's any other way. It's not addictive like tobacco so you can actually tell your teeth no when you feel the urge, without needing any nail polish and the likes.

Oh, and here's more motivation

Faith? I'm sure you meant fate.

Is the NCC's regulation a draconian one peculiar to countries with a volatile security situation like Nigeria, or is it commonplace? Just wondering.

PoliticsRe: President Jonathan Receives Thunderous Applause In South Africa by AKO1(m): 2:17pm On May 07, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: While few mischievous and jobless Nigerians are busy hating and cursing, our dear President Goodluck Jonathan received several rounds of thunderous applause and standing ovation while he addressed the South African parliament this afternoon.

Whao, my president never fails to deliver
He received a thunderous applause from the Nigerian people fellow politicians who know very well that intermittent clapping and a standing ovation are part of the laborious protocol you give when a politician reads a speech. Abeg sit down.

On my iPad, I've used Powercam to achieve a similar effect. On Blackberry, LensBoost.

Or are you asking about a specific mobile app?

FoodRe: Instant Noodles: Not Exactly Healthy. by AKO1(m): 3:42pm On Apr 08, 2013
Thanks for this thread.

I've become very wary of "instant" foods that are meant to compensate for your busy or lazy lifestyle. Just the other day a chef was telling me about how liquid marinades are packed with harmful preservatives.
FoodRe: How To Prepare KFC Fried Chicken (yes You Can Do It All By Yourself) by AKO1(m): 3:36pm On Apr 08, 2013
Why not post the whole thing here?
Procedure:
Add the 3 tsp of salt in a large bowl, add enough water and place the chicken in it to soak for approximately 30 minutes
Beat the egg in a small bowl and mix with the milk
In another bowl, pour in the flour, add pepper, garlic, salt, onion, and paprika, and mix very well
Remove the chicken from the water and dry with paper towel
Using your hands pick up the piece of chicken one-at-a-time and dip it first into the egg & milk mixture turning it around to make sure it is well coated with the mixture
Then immediately dip it in the flour mixture turning it around to make sure it is also well coated in it
Then dip it back again for the second time in the egg & milk mixture and back again in the flour mixture, making sure that it is well coated.
Do this for the rest of the chicken pieces making sure that it is completely covered and well coated in the mixtures during each step

In a large pan heat the oil until hot and ready for frying
Carefully add in your coated chicken pieces one by one and dip fry for about 15-20 minutes, depending on the size of the chicken pieces until it they turn out golden brown. Do not forget to turn it occasionally
Now KFC uses pressure cookers to fry their chicken which i don't recommend you do at home, especially if you have kids around

Remove from heat and drain in paper towel
Serve and enjoy with your family. It turns out very crispy
Oh, and it's Southern Fried Chicken, a style of cooking chicken that probably predates KFC. What makes KFC distinct is their secret combination of spices.
WebmastersRe: Please Give Your Opinion On This Website by AKO1(m): 11:26pm On Apr 07, 2013
Allenbaba: I just hosted a website on a free hosting plan to test it. The website is mealsonwheels.eu5.org. Please your opinion about the website is highly welcome. Thanks!
Not bad at all.

The background on the homepage is a good idea and made me a little hungry in fact. It's too 'out of focus' on the Ordering page though, and I can't make out what the food item is which is a bit disconcerting.

The use of branded packs with REAL FOOD and prices makes your business believable. I cannot stand food franchises that use stock photos.

Most popular recovery software will get some, if not all the files. Do a google search and most importantly, don't record anything on the camcorder till you're done with the recovery.

Anyone else had this problem?
Christianity EtcRe: Why Do Nigerian Pastors Include Academic Titles In Their Name? by AKO1(m): 12:37pm On Apr 04, 2013
Nope, nothing wrong with academic titles for Pastors. In fact, I prefer they use these titles outside of church circles so that they don't solicit any preferential treatment as 'men of God'.

However people like Prophetess Dr Mrs FirstName LastName PHD JP must make decide which is the most important.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Taking An iPad/galaxy tab To Interview, Good Or Bad idea? by AKO1(m): 12:29pm On Apr 04, 2013
Your tablet isn't going to impress anybody in the interview. Sure, use it to read up about the company or to revise any answers to the set questions you're likely to be asked.

If I was an interviewer, I'd expect you to be bright enough to hold an intelligent conversation without referring to any notes.

Art, Graphics & VideoRe: Need Critics For My First Graphic Work (a flyer) by AKO1(m): 7:31pm On Mar 19, 2013
Not a bad first-time effort overall!

I like your font choices.

I agree that it's too green, maybe an outline with a complimentary colour (gold, yellow, orange) around the central text could help.

I don't see why you shouldn't capitalize the first letters of words in the very first line.

There are proofreading snags, like an f before Gymnasium, no plus sign before the very last phone number, Covenant spelt incorrectly (unless for some weird reason the group chose to misspell their name). With all these, if I am your client, I won't hire you again.

The text of the venue and artistes are aligned left but the date is aligned centrally, you should be consistent.

It's good that you didn't use any corny or cliche images of wedding rings, a white couple hugging each other on the beach, etc.

TravelRe: How To Book Appointment At South African Embassy, lagos by AKO1(m): 8:25pm On Nov 07, 2011
ikennahill:
well you dont need to pay any tout

get the documents needed if you go through the thread you will see them already mentioned

I advice that if you like orderliness go to Abuja embassy of south africa

On getting there they will check your documents and tell you to go and pay the visa processing fee of 8.6k @ one diamond bank (bank charges not included,on paying this t you come back 24hrs after paying to present teller and you will be given date for interview,
on the day of interview you will come with all original documents requested with their photocopies.
After the interview if they view you successful they will tell you to go and pay the repatriation fee ,110k (bank charges not included in this,u will still pay like 7k for bank charges)

you come 24 hrs after to get your receipt and you will be told the day to come and pick your passport.

This is the normal route however every embassy have the power to change the way they do thing on group of people or individual.
When I tried to go there a few years back I was told that they only deal with people that live in Northern Nigeria. Does this rule still apply?
