FoodRe: Give Me A Good Reason Why People Chew Meat Last When Eating. by AKO1(m): 12:15pm On Jun 09, 2011
For those people saying that eating the meat first will not let you finish the food: it is because the food is not sweet that you don't finish it, not because you ate the meat first.
Nairaland GeneralRe: CPAfrica.com's Interview With Seun Osewa, Founder Of Nairaland by AKO1(m): 5:03pm On Mar 17, 2011
I remember when our business section became popular when all those wonder banks were in vogue. And after that, spammers and advertisers finished it off. It used to be great.

I remember when I realised I could no longer respond to every thread on the forum, and after a while I couldn’t even read every thread. Now I can’t even check every section in day.

I remember when I first realised that revolts by old members couldn’t kill the site because of the constant influx of new members. This, coupled with stress from the rapid growth of the site, led me to adopt a Buhari-style approach to managing the forum, which tarnished my reputation quite a bit. I’m trying to change that now.

I remember when I locked all Nairalanders out of the forum during a public holiday because I couldn’t keep up with spammers anymore. I was spending several hours every day just deleting spam and I was tired. Mukina2, a famous Nairalander, volunteered to help by moderating and recruiting other volunteer moderators.

I remember when I wrote an ‘antispam bot’ because moderators couldn’t keep up with spam. And it wasn’t enough. Then I added a registration CAPTCHA and it didn’t make any difference. Nowadays, everyone hates the bot, because it often makes mistakes, but we would have had to lock down the forum if we didn’t have it.
I remember when I noticed all of these things smiley

Nairaland GeneralSuggestion For @nairaland Account On Twitter by AKO1(op): 12:15pm On Dec 30, 2010
Hi there,

Nairaland on Twitter is a great idea and I have some suggestions to help it project the site even better.
For now tweets only show the titles and links to threads on the homepage.

I'm suggesting that the twitter account be an extension of the site, and tweets also contain threads that are not on the homepage but are quite interesting/useful/relevant.

This is because most people log in and read what is on the homepage anyway, but there are sections/childboards that individuals never visit because of preference. This doesn't mean that they don't have useful information in them for everybody. It is also a way of extending the homepage of the site.

it's quite obvious. a hand that has been washed will have that "wet" look even after it has been dried by a hand towel. If you leave a meal you were eating with your hands to go to the bathroom and you come back with evidence of "palm oil and dried garri" on your hand, YOU DID NOT WASH YOUR HANDS!!!  angry angry angry
Hahaha okay I'm convinced. That 'palm oil' may even be lipsrsealed

The main problem MMIA has is our lack maintenance culture. I was @ Schipol Airport last week, and i could swear that whoever designed schipol, designed MMIA .
It was indeed designed after Schipol. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murtala_Muhammed_International_Airport

Lexusgs430:
Now the lingering question, is how come schipol looks so modern, and MMIA looks and acts so ancient ?
Food for thought to our Leaders !!!!
Its the question I ask myself about nearly everything in Nigeria.

Shouldn't this be in the Travel section?

Others: Chewing bone/hard meat, realizing they can't swallow it at once and spitting it back into the plate. Yuckness.

^ ^ LOL I don't think so sha, as long as South Africans are in the stadium the vuvuzela will be there.

We must concede that it is a part of their football culture and thats why FIFA hasn't banned it. Imagine Nigeria's matches without the trumpets playing those familiar tunes,

But then thats the downside; it completely drowns out everything else, every other 'cultural' football chant, and perhaps even the referee's whistle. The govt. has begged people not to blow during speeches and anthems and I doubt that they will listen.

And just btw that thing is freaking haaaaaard to blow!!!
