In a letter dated Friday, May 10, 2024, addressed to the Ward three chairman of the PDP in Arue-Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area, Okiye said he was aggrieved over the remark by Dr. Asue Ighodalo. The former speaker was, however, silent on his next political move and added that his reasons for quitting the PDP were personal. “On behalf of my family and supporters, I thank you and others for the opportunity given to me to serve while in the party,” he said. The resignation of Mr. Okiye from the PDP comes on the heels of a similar move by Mr. Charles “Charlie Temple” Idahosa, a member of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), and the defection of eight former council chairmen who left the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The defectors included John Osi Akhigbe, former Etsako Central Local Government chairman; Dr. Josie Ogedegbe, Igueben; Mr Frank Ilaboya, Owan West; Mr. Andrew Osigwe, Owan East; Mr. Napoleon Agbama, Uhunmwonde; Scott Ogbemudia, Ovia North East; Mr. Austin Okoibhole, Esan North East; and Mrs. Ruth Osahor, Esan West. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://guardian.ng/news/former-edo-speaker-okiye-dumps-pdp/%23:~:text%3DThe%2520resignation%2520of%2520Mr.%2520Okiye,All%2520Progressives%2520Congress%2520(APC).&ved=2ahUKEwi1ipj-wIOGAxXCUqQEHVOxCmkQFnoECBAQBQ&usg=AOvVaw2XCbnG7iFlKX3r4cU-Wihj Mynd44 Fergie001 Seun Nplfmod |

TheOgaBoss:Winning margin of iyamu in Edo north na.oyamu won Edo north with 20k instead of the regular 40k plus |
TheOgaBoss:In the last guber polls,he reduced the winning margin of pastor Iyamu.in last year polls, pdp in Edo were generally overwhelmed.Edo south is divided |
Freshtruth:Obi would still have lost.by the way,no evidence that obi was rigged out in akwa ibom |
AfonjaScud:Kai,so sad.this will put majority of the voters off.if care is not taken, the guy will lose his lga.latest opinion polls conducted by obaseki shows APC winning |
ThebestPromise:From your analysis, you have called the race for the APC.the igbinedion bloc is restricted to ovia lgas which is controlled by hon denco the APC running mate.barr ogie the pdp running mate has a stranglehold on ikpoba okha.hon iduoriyekemwen, sen uzamere etc are all strong factors.in Esan, chief ikimi is a factor.in Edo north, the speaker Blessing agbebaku is from owan west |
Indispensable85:He can buy votes massively there or massively write or inflate results.dont forget the APC leadership in ikpoba okha is fighting for supremacy between osarobo and Agbonayinma |
slivertongue:APC is taking Edo |
Indispensable85:Prince Malik afegbua of Etsako east has joined APC while Victoria omu has left APC... I suspect Obaseki's plan is to manipulate Benin city |
AfonjaScud:The pdp candidate is not on ground |
oyeb15:He has lost grip already |

Felix Akhabue, a former governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the September 21, election in Edo State, has resigned from the party. DAILY POST reports that Akhabue was one of the 10 governorship aspirants that protested against the conduct of ward and local government congresses of the party ahead of the party primary election which was held in February. Akhabue, a former, chairman of Esan West Local Government Area as well as Commissioner for Wealth Creation, Cooperative and Industry in Governor Godwin Obaseki’s first tenure, dumped the party in a letter dated May 6, 2024, and addressed to the Ward 7 chairman of the party in Esan West local Government Area. He also copied the resignation letter to Chairman, Esan West LGA of the party, state chairman and the National Working Committee of the party. The letter reads: “I write to formally notify the party through your office of my resignation as member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, henceforth. “My decision to resign is borne out of the glaring prejudicial activities of the party’s Leadership against my fair, reasonable and continuous participation as a member of the party. “I wish to use this opportunity to appreciate some genuine friends in the party we have worked together in the past years.” Akhabue is a member of Legacy Group faction of PDP in the state. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://dailypost.ng/2024/05/06/edo-guber-ex-governorship-aspirant-felix-akhabue-dumps-pdp/&ved=2ahUKEwiJiYGKxPuFAxVeTUEAHSy2BKcQFnoECBMQAQ&usg=AOvVaw3mu9I9H9mM3QpwovKOgErs Mynd44 Nplfmod Fergie001 Seun |

In a recently released report, the National Bureau of Statistics revealed the state of foreign direct investment in Nigeria. It was disheartening to learn in the report that 18 out of the 36 states in the country failed to attract any foreign investment between 2021 and 2023. Among these states is Edo State, under the leadership of Governor Godwin Obaseki. The dearth of any foreign investment in Edo State is a clear indicator of the lack of progress and gripping economic mismanagement under the current administration. It is imperative to address the glaring issues of lack of focus, creativity, and gross incompetence that have characterized the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration, leading to the stagnation of Edo State's economic growth. The absence of foreign direct investments in the state speaks volumes about the failure of leadership to attract and retain crucial investments necessary for sustainable development. Governor Godwin Obaseki has fallen short in steering Edo State towards economic prosperity. While boastful of a team of "brilliant minds," the results of their governance paint a stark contrast between rhetoric and reality. What they say they are is at crossroads with who they really are. The penchant of the current leadership of Edo State to talk more than their advertised capacity can handle, has left Edo State floundering, with promises unfulfilled and potential untapped. The so-called brilliance within the administration has failed to translate into tangible benefits for the people of Edo State. As we approach the next election cycle, it is crucial for the people of Edo State to consider the future of their state carefully. The failures of the current administration should serve as a wake-up call for voters to demand better governance and leadership that prioritizes the interests of the state and its people above all else. We beg to ask where the brilliance of the economic team of the Obaseki administration is hidden. As things appear, it impresses the discerning mind and lover of Edo State to see through the smokescreen, and that what is being peddled as performance in real, actual terms is nothing but repetitive failure disguised as deceptive grammar yet having no real impact on our brothers and sisters in hundreds of communities across the state. In conclusion, the lack of foreign direct investments in Edo State is a clear reflection of the failure of leadership under Governor Godwin Obaseki. The time has come for the people of Edo State to rise up, demand accountability, and vote for change. Edo State deserves a brighter future, and it is in the hands of the citizens to make that future a reality through their votes and actions.
