Apology accepted. The ability to make ammends is a virtue. No wahala for my side.

Please be a final gentleman and apologize to yodiyokun. Na Lady o. No mind the vex tone.

Case closed from my side sha.

Back to stock issues.

Regarding outstanding shares, if you look harder you will probably find out that most of my figures are correct. I don't track listed shares only which is probably what your chaps on the ground are giving you. These are sometimes not important to me.

I include yet to be listed PO shares, Right issues, Preferential shares, debentures etc and even project 25% oversubscription for POs. Everytime I paste my figures, I explain this fact. In my original spreadsheet I have comments that explain how I arrive at these figures but I cannot share this since my identity is recorded with the comments.

The guys on the ground in NSE, SEC and the brokerage firms don't always have these figures so don't let them confuse you or convince you that they do. FSDH told us in December that Crusader at a forward PE of 5. Beat that. I take my time to compute individual figures from company corporate actions reported with SEC and sum everything up to get my tally.

Of course, all my figures can't be correct but I can vouch for most of them. If anyone jumps out at you as being incorrect, let me know and I can correct my sheet.

If you have a problem with megaupload, get yourself a good anti-virus software with real time protention. I work in IT so I don't see any big deal with dodgy websites. The anti-virus softwares are ahead of the game. I even use sites like astalavista so what is megaupload.  I was also introduced to megaupload here and it is a cool way for us to send large files. I have never had a problem with it. When someone introduced us to Metastock and we found trojans, it was no big deal. We raised the flag and folks here helped on how to get rid of the problem at it worked and we were thankful. There is always a way round these things.

We are here to learn about the NSE and make money. Now let's get on with the business at hand. Chei, now I don forget wetin I wan ask my broker to buy tomorrow huh huh
If he/she had read the thread before making sweeping statements, u wouldnt have had to make this explanation pumping. it would have been self explanatory. big up to u for accepting the tacit apology, u're the better for it.

lets make money this week shall we.

by the way, u dont need to do any work calculating or trying to draw up the macd histogram urself. its already done on the nigeriansecurities.com website. its the green bar chart kind of thing on the MACD graph
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by aktopgun(m): 9:40pm On Feb 10, 2008
The MACD-Histogram represents the difference between the MACD and its trigger line, the 9-day EMA of MACD. The plot of this difference is presented as a histogram, making centerline crossovers and divergences easily identifiable. A centerline crossover for the MACD-Histogram is the same as a moving average crossover for MACD. a moving average crossover occurs when MACD moves above or below the trigger line.

If the value of MACD is larger than the value of its 9-day EMA, then the value on the MACD-Histogram will be positive. Conversely, if the value of MACD is less than its 9-day EMA, then the value on the MACD-Histogram will be negative.

Further increases or decreases in the gap between MACD and its trigger line will be reflected in the MACD-Histogram. Sharp increases in the MACD-Histogram indicate that MACD is rising faster than its 9-day EMA and bullish momentum is strengthening. Sharp declines in the MACD-Histogram indicate that MACD is falling faster than its 9-day EMA and bearish momentum is increasing.

The main benefit of the MACD-Histogram is its ability to anticipate MACD signals. Divergences usually appear in the MACD-Histogram before MACD moving average crossovers do. Armed with this knowledge, traders and investors can better prepare for potential trend changes.

The MACD-Histogram can be applied to daily, weekly or monthly charts. (Note: This may require some tinkering with the number of periods used to form the original MACD; shorter or faster moving averages might be necessary for weekly and monthly charts.) Using weekly charts, the broad underlying trend of a stock can be determined. Once the broad trend has been determined, daily charts can be used to time entry and exit strategies.

this is the best explanation i could find and its helped me a great deal.

Pumping,

I sheath my sword, i guess i was unfair in letting certain things i should have addressed boil over to the point where i went ballistic.

Like going to megaupload where you in good faith posted some files , but was devastating in terms of malware and spyware on that one picked up from that site.  Also in good faith you made the list of outstanding shares available which had some errors here and there. I only know this cause of people on ground i can get the real results from.

These are all issues i could have addessed in a more civil manner, but was miffed at the malware and spyware issues from megaload on one's system

I am sorry.

its not that u have to off-load really. it depends on ur investment goals, presonality and risk appetite. TS lasts minimum 3 months or so and for most people, thats too long a time to have ur money tied down doing nothing so they exit as close to the TS as they can get since a lot of companies do everything to drive up their share price pre-TS so they can say they are offering u the share at a discount during the P.O.
Besides, the supposed post TS bull run doesnt always materialize. hope this helps

here's a list i compiled last night of stock i am watching next week. its been a personal internal tug of war on whether to post it here or not cuz i do not want to be accused of losing money for fellas. well here goes nothing. hope it helps.

1. fidelity - likely bull run next week
2. fbn - to continue its recent price gains
3.flourmills - likely to continue rising
4. ikeja hotels - possible turbulence to continue
5.Intercontinental - uptrend imminent
6. japauloil - looks like a good week or two up ahead
7. Nig-german - good week ahead
8. okitipupa - downturn likely

this is my take on them based on some TA but please remember, the final decision is urs!

@all
what is this N50 barrier issue for banks. I get UBA and need the thing to fly now,  shocked shocked cool
the N50 barrier is basically that no bank has been able to sustain any reasonable length of time above the N50 price. UBA for example in a trading day on the 8th of january traded at N51.19 but dropped to about N50 the same day. the price of first bank and uba in particular have been toying with that barrier for a while now and i think FBN is set to break it this week.
i remember when someone raised the flag of crusader crossing the N6 barrier. look at it now. i hope the same happens for both uba and fbn sooner than later. FBN probably will go first.

I said I am not commenting on the substance (or lack of it) of the post.

What has size and going to court got to do with it. Please focus on the issue here.

I can't be afraid to speak my mind when someone says something absolutely untruthful about my post.

If I or anyone for that matter says that the data being churned out by Zenith is sometimes wrong, is this a criticism? Did I attack the company or just commented on the end result? We had the same comments about TRW in the last couple of weeks. Did anyone hit at someone like this bloke is doing? This was not a general post. My name was repeated over and over. For what?

I was one of the first to tout Nigeriansecurities on this forum till folks said they suspected I have some interest in the company.

Do understand the point that is being made. The jist is wrong and offensive at least for me that has my name splashed all over it.

See the ONLY comment I have made on this below in bold.

if you want authoritative source of a result . zenithsecurities and nigeriansecurities is where to look. Those two entities are on a different league of their own. I have noticed that TRW rushes to put out results and therefore have a lot of mistakes. Nigeriansecurities howver because of their focus been on accurate data because they are about tools and the accuracy of their data.

TRW have nothing to loose when they publish inaccurate data. They may be the first. But Nigeriansecurities and zenithsecurities are the most reliable. Infact i have never seen both of them differ on any result

Unfortunately even Zenith is not accurate. At least I have seen some errors from yesterday. Zenith has Transexpr closing at N3.60 instead of N3.80 and to think this is the data I use for Metastock and Aptistock. Na wa o.

The main problem I have with nigeriansecurities is that they don't have all stocks listed on their daily list. As an example, Transexpr is not on their list.

Nairaland is a sub sector of Nigeria. You will find different kinds of people.People who believe you are pulling down the system if you dare criticize. We are used to doing everything the wrong way and we don't see any problem with that so when someone comes to complain he is attacked.

Zenith is in business to make profit and if there services are less than expected than customers have a right to complain LOUDLY! Afterall they are paying for it.It is only in NIgeria that you beg and prostrate for someone to do a job you are paying him for.
my brother i tire for the guy oh. hmmmm naija sha!. in a bid to be positive we forget that it doesnt and shouldnt end there but rather positivity needs to be followed up by action but no. all we want is for people to say we are positive while the rest of the world say and do positivity. the very fact that short comings are pointed out doesnt make someone a negative person or a complainer. on the contrary, it means they know there is a better way and want that better way.
but for some nigerians (won't mention names but u know the kind i mean wink), its all positivity with no end product. i'd rather point out an issue and have it debated than keep patting someone's back when there are obvious short comings. Zenithsecurities like any other broker is in the business of making money and like any other broker should provide the service they are being paid for in a decent and respectful manner in the least. if customers arent satisfied, they have a right to complain and be heard rather than being accused of "not appreciating" the efforts the are making, appreciate my left bum cheek!!. offer a service, get paid for it and od what u are paid for. the customer is and will always be right in any culture, race, background or country, well by all indications this isnt the case yet in naija apparently but we will get there if we are open about the issues we have rather than avoiding them under the pretext of being positive. i call it "ostrich with his head in the sand syndrome"

angry angry angryI just don't understand why people are different from what they are meant to stand for and what they project when they are on a forum like this where everyone is faceless. Pumping and company why do you have nothing good to say about all this sites that are doing a good job  inspite of the limitations of operating in that environment. What i perceive your belief system is is not a proponent of tearing down oo.

Pumping and co stop badmouthing these resoureces. Zenitsecurities is a great resource. Who is the authoritative source that makes zenithsecurities wrong. Its wrong to assume that because this are entities you cannot identify individual with, you should run them down. What makes you the authority to comment on zenithsecurities abilities as regards right results. Lets even leave zenith and say you are angry at them because they are not an "NGO" that provides free service, haba if you have any probblem with a small company like nigeriansecurites that are solvoing problems no one has been looking at, why don't you let them know if you find a problem and stop projecting a negative image of them. Please pratice what you depict and speak life.

For your information zenithsecurites if you use them for your  trades are darn good. You also don't know of the gallant efforts they are at the forfront of in terms of pushing policy that will help this market and all of us eventually.  For your information, they provide better tools than the aptistock and metastock that make you feel like einstein

I also did the right thing by emailing nigeriansecurities of your run down observations. They promptly fixed it and were appreciative of been fed back.

Lets use this forum to engender growth of not only individuals but companies that are at the forefront of bringing efficiency to this market

@flaky

what are u on about mate? the fellas on this forum have had very positive things to say about all the sites u have mentioned but i do not expect them to keep quiet when they notice something wrong. its only in Nigeria that when people point out problems that they are deemed as "TEARING DOWN". no-one has said don't use zenith securities( obviuosly u have some vested interest in them in particular, broker,or employee maybe? wink) or nigerian securities. what fellas have simply their experiences with them, u cant deny them that. good on u for e-mailing complaints to the nigsec.com people. its not their business really what zenith securities are doing to better the market etc, that is not the remit of the fellas on here or of zenith sec. either for that matter. they are players in the system just like everyone else, which is why we have the SEC to regulate the playing field. what u need to understand as well is that the "NGOs" as u call them are present even in established markets of europe, america and asia. why should nigeria be any different? i can assure u that nigsec are not an NGO and recognise that there is a need which they are filling, not without expected benefits. U need to look at the big picture, what would happen should for example nigeriansecurities.com became the leading voice in NSE info and a millions of nigerians looked to them for info, analysis, portfolios ets on the NSE, do u see how they could make hundreds of millions in advert revenues from the number of people hitting their website? the same goes for proshare.com, nsepro etc. get it? charging for this info as zenithsec or any other organisation does could also be said to hurt the NSE as a whole if u ask the question, how many nigerians are able to pay for this info, and more importantly, why should they have to pay for it? info on other stock exchanges are free which is one of the reasons why more people are investing in such markets. these NGOs as u call them are helping the market but need to be pulled up where they remain deficient, eg in the area of price reporting for example, we all know the thing that drives investment decisions is price first and foremost, so u get that wrong there will be chaos. i dont think expressing ur view on these problems should be deemed as Pulling down" either. thats simply not correct, helpful or encouraging of open discussion (as we dont like in naija). we should be able to have different views or experiences without being castigated as teareing down anyone abeg.
people can have their point of view and express it without riding on the backs of others with differing opinions. haba.

Do you find time to read any Psychiatry and see patients etc, as well as take care of the family?
With your knowledge of technical analysis.

Must admit in all my years of investing in the stock market I have always discounted technical analysis and been pure fundamentalist. This worked very well in the past but the NSE has moved into a different phase now - with a lot of money to be made from short term trading.

@ Easi, Yodi, Pump etc

Digression - Can Obama win?

Must admit I was surprised at how well he did on super Tuesday.

Does anybody have the breakdown of which states had caucuses and which ran primaries. Trying to analyse if we can discount the states with large black populations and few Latinos and those states that had caucuses. Caucuses, like Iowa, are public votes and I feel some of the White folks may vote for Obama in public when the argument is lost but will not do so in the privacy of the polling booths.

Another point to consider. How many of the Obama states allow independents to vote? There is still the theory that many Republicans will vote for him in the hope that he will be easier for John McCain although I understand now that the polls think he and not Hillary can beat McCain.

Getting very interesting.

To be true i only chose the first two i.e ZENITH and GTBANK based on some hearsay and some instinct. I just feel this is about the best time to take position. Am i right please wht do you think?? As for Zenith, i knew there will be a bull run on the stock but im not sure for how long, unfortunately it was bought at a very high price of #53.34, will it ever get me the desired return?? The Linkage ass. is purely my brokers decision, i only told him to get some insurance by all means, and he got some linkage. Please i need advise on that. The interest rate is 20% and the tenor is about 3 to 4 months, it could be more if need be. My desired returns is of course to make as high returns as possible, i know this may depend on well thot out strategy, the entry and exit period too matters a lot. This is my situation, i hope you find it informative enough to assist my situations. Thanks a lot expecting a response from you guys. YOU ARE THE BEST.
sounds like u've bought the shares already. if that is the case then dear friend u may just have to wait it out and hope for the best.
