@ Nairalanders

Don't think the Big Treat phenomenon is a "Pump and Dump".

Even though the volumes are low, it has closed on a very high bid of 9.3 million today. Think it was more than 16 million recently.

I participated in the private placement and tried to buy more shortly after listing - in vain.

Samstone4 cool cool cool
in other words they need a P.O to solve their liquidity issues and arent worth the bother with no guages yet to measure them by.
like redstar express, its the fascination of the NSE with new listings i think. let them perform first and unless u are the patient kind and dont mind money being tied down in TS probably best to ignore them for now (just my thots)

we are still praying and believing God for tobechukwu. the just shall live by their faith and i do. thank u guys for ur prayers and well wishes

Abeg una gurus again,

I have N550k to buy stuff and am considering a choice between Dunlop and First Bank. Which one would be advisable to gun for? I heard the rumour of big surprise from First Bank and surprise jolt from Dunlop, and I get confused.

What are your views and reasons? I beg na o.
Thanks plenti.
i was going to write that i don't believe u asked this question but i won't  cheesy  cheesy.
if i were to break my personal rule of not recommending stock to people until i know something of their risk appetite and investment goal, i would say firstbank man but don't take my word for it, do a bit of research for urself and methinks u'll probably come to a similar conclusion based on the mid to long term.
now if these are borrowed funds u are going to use then consider other companies who may give short term results.
hope this helps

UBA still looks to be a good investment but with the NSE u never know how long it will take for the market to realise that. the increase in outstanding shares is more than likely to be a bonus. i mean it would really be daft for them to come to the market with all the grumblings on the primary market being overvisited and all the issues about oversubscription.
besides didnt they just come off TS sometime mid '07? na wa for these nigerian firms sef. e be like say they are just bereft of ideas on how to raise cash other than running to the public and tying up people's hard earned and borrowed funds  cheesy for months.

its not giving them a good rep at all. i  expect UBA will be smarter than that but then again i've been wrong before  wink

@safive

dunlop and eternaoil ke?

really sorry bruvs but i do not really follow those companies for now and the only info i have on dunlop is that they are something of a turnaround in the beginning stages so depending on ur risk appetite and any other info u have it may be something u want to look at if u have a few years to wait (could be shorter but with turnarounds u never know. it depends on how far gone they were before starting to turn around  cheesy)

on eternaoil sorry not on my radar

i personally am not going for fidelity now cuz there are better opportunities coming up a la oceanic (not quite there yet though).
fidelity is weak compared to others in their sector. having said that, i bought a small amount of their P.O, waiting to see if i'm allocated any and will probably dispose of it asap unless something drastic happens.

hope this helps. don't lose money if u can avoid it. this is my story of a small but noteworthy error by buying the P.O

it won't happen again if i have anything to say about it.  cheesy  cheesy

@FOF2

u know say forecasting no be exact science and the market defies even the best brokers in the world who have thousands of dollars worth of equipment to do these analyses, not to talk of groups and groups of analysts whose only job description is to look at the market everyday and use available info to make predictions on where the market is headed and still they miss it!!

best to do ur own analysis, cast a cursory glance at what brokers say and make ur decision and of course be able to defend to urself why u bought the stock should it not begin to go the way u envisaged. i think its someeone's footnote on this forum that "the market will stay crazy longer than u stay solvent" or something like that  cheesy
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by aktopgun(m): 7:23am On Jan 15, 2008
@FOF2

as u said "prediction". they are human beings as i'm sure u are aware. its the technical analysis and trend info that i think is best used as some of us are still struggling with how to calculate them. best not to take what brokers forecast as gospel truth i think, but then again i thought we already agreed that in the house way back.

UBA is currently 1.9% above its 200-period moving average and is in an downward trend. Volatility is extremely low when compared to the average volatility over the last 10 periods. There is a good possibility that there will be an increase in volatility along with sharp price fluctuations in the near future. Our volume indicators reflect volume flowing into and out of UBA at a relatively equal pace (neutral). Our trend forecasting oscillators are currently bearish on UBA and have had this outlook for the last 22 periods.
