InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by aktopgun(m): 12:34pm On Dec 04, 2007
@bros wanajo

i holla!

question: when u say that u never sell all ur holdings in a company, is there a limit put on the number of shares one has left so as to qualify for the bonuses, annual reports etc?
i like the idea as usually the companies don't change too much for one to completely pull out (though this can happen, it is relatively rare )

what say u?

@jehoshaphat et al

why do u think ABC are good to get into regardless? any info to share bruvs?

i notice they did not specify what they expect this new division to add to their bottom line in terms of figures

is Obajana operational yet?
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by aktopgun(m): 4:48pm On Dec 03, 2007
@windywendy

thats exactly what i mean ma'am.
NAMPAK are their main competitors in the packaging industry and will have the muscle of their larger company to push Bagco all the way. NAMPAK are doing well in that area already and will look to consolidate of course as thats one of the few areas they've managed to do well in, but as brother jehoshaphat pointed out, bagco have other ways of reducing operational costs and have a ready made client in flourmills.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by aktopgun(m): 4:44pm On Dec 03, 2007
@jehoshaphat

thanks for the info man. made things clearer definitely

i do think though that if you can afford it buy the goose instead of the egg ie flourmills instead of bagco.
bagco contributes to flourmills' bottom line cuz they own 70% of bagco and therefore 70% of whatever profit bagco make until that situation changes.

i know flourmills may be a bit steep in terms of price but if one can i would think this would be a better option, not to say bagco in itself isn't a good buy
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by aktopgun(m): 4:33pm On Dec 03, 2007
@WINDYWENDY
plus the fact that their main competitor NAMPAK is not doing at all greaat as far as i can see from their results

my worry is that if NAMPAK can't get business to generate profit, can bagco?

presumably there is a market out there but if probably the largest company in that sector can only report a 70% loss in profit i just wonder if their market isn't shrinking or at best not properly identified (less likely option)

what say u?
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by aktopgun(m): 4:23pm On Dec 03, 2007

InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by aktopgun(m): 4:16pm On Dec 03, 2007
@roughcut et damacheo

japaul is an excellent buy as far as i can see fellas and i agre with roughcut, they are more than likely to meet their expectations in terms of profit again this year and have consistently increased profit

i bought the P.O based on my analysis at the time and that hasn't changed.

C&I leasing is another unsong hero in the market and i am aiming for it by april '08.
i suspect the reason they aren't so "popular" is because they do not make much noise (and who can hear themselves over all the noise these banking institutions are currently making anyway), plus they are in a sector that is not as well known but growing rapidly (as usual, they will only become well known when they are already too far gone for more than average ROI are to be made)
getting in early for japaul, cutix and C&I Leasing is a wise decision on anyone's part if you go by their history (of course historical activity doesn't equate to future earnings but a track record is worth all the forward P.Es in the world should the business and fundamentals remain the same and for these 3 companies, it does)

NAMPAK took a hit today as expected with those results.

redstar stagnant for the first time since listing 2 weeks ago, (I smell IPO sooner than later if this continues)

CILeasing still rising, no surprise there

@pumping
cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy
i tire my brother!.

me i am back home now, even at work sef, have some work to do.
wifey is still in waiting at home.

this childbirth business is more nerve racking than watching the gyrations on the NSE i tell u man but as with the NSE the rewards are ASTRONOMICAL!! cheesy cheesy cheesy

We await his arrival but i have to keep up with what i will use to send him to harvard bros!

talking about that, i have just been digging on C&I leasing and it seems these guys have increased profits almost year on year since 1998. they have managed to remain the only listed company in their sector and are diversifying from their main stay of car rentals and other leasing activities to oil and gas (always big money as u know).
they even bought over a ghanian leasing company this year therby expanding into the west african subregion

they are not looking bad at all.

any views man?

got this in the mail and thought i'd share for those interested in the company (i'm not). enjoy

International Energy Insurance - Stock Analysis

Technically, the stock is below the 10 day CSMA, but above the 20 and 30 day cumulative moving averages.

That speaks well for the stock. The volume is incredible (over 100 million on a daily average), this will make going in and out of the stock very easy.

On 12/11/07, the stock began a recovery from a 3 month downturn, but reversed coursed on 21/11/07 after gaining 39.74% (from N1.56 - N2.18k). The recent pull back is natural, and I believe the volume will pull it back up.

At the current price of N1.79, an investor is not too far from the consolidation level of N1.60, you don't have too much to lose anyway. Fundamentally, not much is available to us or known about the company, but technically, I believe you will make some money on this stock if you buy a lot. Therefore, the volume you buy matters.

However, I will put my stop loss at N1.58k. By the way what happened to the stock? Why did it crash from its high of N3.55K? This one had so many fake recoveries that were unsustained.

That’s why IQ always recommend to people not to buy a stock when it is trading below the 20 day and 50 day CSMAs'. If you look at the graph, November 8, 2007, was the first entry point.

Hope this one is not took technical for the readers. Go ahead and buy, but our stop loss is N1.58k.

i hope it helps the fellas here on Nairaland cheesy
