Two things I think are involved. Either APC are trying to buy him over before he will become PDPs only hope if they can't bring out a solid candidate. Or he is playing the PDP for relevance

I think Jonathan is playing PDP. If they see that even the ruling party wants him, his rating in PDP will increase, it's the only way he can beat the likes of Atiku and Wike.
