Tyranny at its early stage. Even Obama cannot use the property of any State in the US without their approval. Shame on them!
What I noticed in all this is that pdp don't know the implication of using a stadium the owners claimed is under construction. If they have the love of the poor masses that will throng the stadium at heart., they should look for alternative venue , if any part of the stadium collapsed due to stamped or weakness of the beam supporting the stand who is to blame ? I believe in safety first before any selfish interest . Whether Amechi is lying about the condition of the stadium or not, caution must not be thrown to the wind

Don't mind the F.O.O.L. . Even at that how can he equate the post of CBN Gov to an ELECTED Hon. The CBH Gov was appointed by the president while the Hon member was voted for from his constituency , before being voted for again by the majority of the house members to become the speaker. So president don't have power over him but his colleagues .

I am struggling to build my house in my village – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday said he is struggling to build his house in his Otuoke village, Bayelsa State.

He said he might give out the house before he dies if he found out that his children are not ready to live in the village.

Jonathan spoke in Lagos at a fund-raiser for St. Stephens Anglican Deanery and Youth Development Centre, Otuoke.

He said, “We are all mortal beings, we are all biological specimen so we will all die but when we die, what will we be remembered for, what will we leave behind?

“I use to tell people that even the house I am struggling to build in the village, these days in this global age, how am I sure that my children will even stay in my root. They want to go to West Indies, they want to go to Latin America.

“So, I was even joking with people that if I look at the behaviour of my children and if I don’t see any of them that will patronise the village, I will donate my house before I die.”

The President urged wealthy Nigerians to make meaningful contributions to the development of poor communities in the country in order to better the lives of the youth and empower them to make useful contributions towards national development.

He said the project for the St. Stephens Anglican Deanery and Youth Development Centre was dear to him because he wanted to make sure that the younger generation passed through a better system of education different from the one he experienced while growing up.

“I feel the only thing I can do is to make sure that from nursery school to primary and secondary school, there should be a standard educational facility and youth programme, so that it gives opportunity for the younger ones to grow. Even if we die in the next 100 years, people will remember that those before them have something for them,” he said.

Present at the occasion were Chairman of Visafone, Jim Ovia; Chairman Capital oil, Chief Ifeanyi Uba; Chairman of A-Z Oil, Chika Okafor, Chairman Arik Air, Joseph Arumemi–Ikhide, Oba Otudeko and Tony Elumelu.

Also present were Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Tunde Lemo, ministers, senators, members of the House of Representatives and prominent indigenes of Otuoke

THE STORY OF VICTOR MOSES: Betrayed by his country but yet he couldn’t betray his country

Eleven years ago in the city of Kaduna, Nigeria, a dreadful religious violence engulfed the entire state. Various religious bodies left the town in search of safe heaven, even Pastors and Imams flew when the crisis grew beyond comprehension.

But there were two couples who stayed behind, in spite of the fear, agony and hatred that filled the air, they were not moved. They stayed back to help the injured, they stayed back to preach peace, they stayed back to guide the misguided youths. Yes they were Christians, and truly they had a church but they made their home for all. Irrespective of the religion dispute, they gave the last moments of their lives to help when it mattered most.

Painfully they couldn’t live for long; death was coming so fast, yet still they didn’t run. Their Church was burnt, their property scattered and finally they were burnt alive. These couples were Mr Austine and Mrs Josephine Moses.

The parents of the Nigerian Super Eagle’s soccer guru, Victor Moses. Young Moses narrowly escaped death; he was out playing soccer, when the cold hand of death took his parents away. He was just eleven years old and with so much excitement from the football pitch he came back home only to meet his parents in ashes. He was taken to London by his uncle the next week after the incident to seek asylum. Victor couldn’t even get time to take the any pictures of his parents with him, due to the violence. He found himself in Croydon, England knowing nobody and having been taken in by a foster family.

He didn’t give up; he left the memory of his past behind him at such a tender age and started playing football again. He was spotted by Crystal Palace who got him into a top local school. With his excellent display of skills he made the English under 16, 17, 19 and 21 teams scoring eleven goals for England. From there he moved to Wigan Athletics and now Chelsea.

On Sunday February 10th 2013, Victor Moses will be standing up in line singing the national anthem of the country that failed him when it mattered most, he would be putting all his effort to bring smiles to the faces of over 160 million Nigerians who knew nothing about the pain he went through to survive. He will do his best to bring to a country that couldn’t defend his parents, a nations cup it last touched nineteen years ago.

This is the story of a man who was betrayed by his country but yet couldn’t betray his country. This is a story of man who lost all due to the inability of some groups of people to live together. This is the story of a man who has tasted the bitter pill left by our various religious violence and inability to tolerate one another.

Just like Victor, hundreds of thousands of Nigerians have lost their lives, future and hope just because two groups couldn’t say, I am sorry first. Hopes has been shattered, dreams killed and futures wasted due to our bizarre hunger for each other’s blood.

Yes the government has failed, but should we fail our country? The government steals our funds and still turns us against one another, yet we can’t be reasonable and think for once. Every part of our lives is dominated by greed, hatred, selfishness and nepotism. When we all could join hands together to make a better future.

Let’s take a clue from Moses, although I am not sure if I could do that. But it is a lesson, a very big one from a man who is drunk with patriotism, a man who sees himself as the pillar of his country, a man who above all things remembers Nigeria and not the federal government of Nigeria.

Yes he came back, in spite of all this. He came back, not to contest for political position or seek for appointment. He came back, not for revenge but for love. He doesn’t need a national honour, he doesn’t need to join the leagues of unpatriotic thieves who have dominated our national medallion. In our hearts he is a hero, in our soul he is hope. Let all Nigerians remember him, for he took nothing from us but this time he is given to us all.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Reading Vs Chelsea (2 - 2) On 30th January 2013 by Alary: 12:43pm On Jan 30, 2013
Manager Brian McDermott is under no illusions about the task his Reading side will face against Chelsea, even if the Blues did narrowly escape FA Cup embarrassment at the weekend.

Chelsea had looked set to be knocked out of the competition by npower League One side Brentford, only for Fernando Torres to spare their blushes with an equaliser.

Elimination would have been unthinkable for the west London club, who were Capital One Cup semi-final losers last week and have already surrendered their Champions League title.

As a result, it is already being reported that interim manager Rafael Benitez could be on borrowed time but, according to McDermott, Chelsea remain a team to be feared.

Since the Spaniard took over his players have excelled on the road - they have scored 23 times in two months - and McDermott knows the threat they will pose at the Madejski Stadium.

``If you look at Chelsea's away record under Rafa it is phenomenal,'' said McDermott, whose side are unbeaten in 2013.

``They have got a top manager who did fantastically well at Liverpool and also in Spain, and is now trying to work with that group of players at Chelsea. They are a fantastic team but they are not my business.

``You can look at their draw with Brentford but that's just what the cup is all about. Look what else happened at the weekend. Oldham beat Liverpool, (Aston) Villa went out and QPR were beaten at home.

``Chelsea are still in the cup and that's what matters.''

McDermott will be without striker Jason Roberts against Chelsea owing to a hip problem, while Noel Hunt has an unspecified knock.

Daniel Carrico, a recent signing from Sporting, is unlikely to be involved as he adjusts to life in England.

Meanwhile, Benitez has admitted he does not think Chelsea will give him any more money to spend before the transfer window closes.

Interim Blues boss Benitez confirmed last week he had told owner Roman Abramovich that his squad was not strong enough to cope with the unprecedented fixture pile-up facing them this season.

But he appears to have given up hope of being allowed to add to the January signing of Demba Ba before Thursday's transfer deadline.

Asked if he anticipated any movement in the final 48 hours of the window, he said: ``I don't think so but my job is to improve my squad and manage the situation we have.''

Abramovich and the board's reluctance to back Benitez in the transfer market will reinforce the view that he has become a dead man walking at Stamford Bridge just over two months after succeeding Roberto Di Matteo.

It is understood there is currently no prospect of him losing his job before his contract expires this summer but reports persist that the club are already actively discussing replacing him next season.

Benitez shrugged off the speculation, which has included Everton boss David Moyes being linked with his job.

``My position is exactly the same,'' he said, confirming he had held talks with technical director Michael Emenalo in the wake of the draw at Brentford.

``I was speaking about football with Michael Emenalo, as normal.

``I will try to do my job as well as I can, and try to do my best every game.''

For now, he must still do without Petr Cech, David Luiz, Eden Hazard, John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses ahead of the game at Reading.

The failure of Cech to recover from a calf problem is a particular blow considering Ross Turnbull's travails at Griffin Park on Sunday.

But Benitez backed Cech's understudy, saying: ``When you're not playing too many games, it's always more difficult.

``It's a question of settling down. He's training well. We don't have an issue there.''

Politics › Re: Behave Like A Statesman, Are U An Area Boy?- Mimiko Tells Tinubu by Alary: 12:13pm On Oct 16, 2012
I hope some of you will now believe when those in the know tell you that LAGOS STATE FUNDS were DIRECTLY used to prosecute elections in other states particularly OSUN & ONDO states. Mimiko obviously collected money from Tinubu, but decided to ditch him when Tinubu's greed set in.

I heard recently that Alphabeta consultants (Lagos state Revenue 'consultants' pocketing a handsome percentage of lagos state IGR every month for doing what the LIRS can conveniently do for free) have opened shop in Osun state. Not surprising seeing its owned by Tinubu (despite the denials).

I do not think Mimiko has perfomed up to expectation in Ondo, judging by the funds at his disposal, but trust me peeps, ACN there will not be any better. There'll be lots of cosmetic achievements & maybe some concrete ones but i assure you, Bola Tinubu will milk that state dry. He has milked & is still milking Lagos. That's just the fact, a fact even his paid praise singers know. A fact Mimiko knows. Tinubu is one of the richest men in this country, yet he still dips his hands into LASG coffers.

Of course i have no proof for the above, but I'm 99% certain of its veracity. Just ask anyone working in certain (if not all) ministries in the state secretariat. Its no secret anymore.

If Fashola didnt have Tinubu breathing behind his back, Lagos state will have over-transformed such that come 2015, i'm sure people will forget what's called zoning & vote that man into aso rock. He has his own faults too, but he's easily one of the best Governors (if not the best) in this country. Tinubu gave him his 1st term on a platter, but Fash earned his second term himself. Infact, his performance almost cost him that election but smart & cunning (yeah i'll give him that) Tinubu realised not too late that should he ditch Fashola for another candidate as he planned, Fash will clinch that election & rigging will be resisted.

As much as PDP is despised in Lagos, Tinubu's LG in Lagos was won by a Obanikoro, a PDP candidate (ACN rigged & d election tribunal has thrown dem out). That should tell you something.

Mimiko had better take a cue from Fashola & perform well in his second term.
Which second term?
Just cus tinubu is not convicted does not mean he is not MORE CORRUPT THAN BODE GEORGE. Bode was just unfortunate that he was setup.

Billyoirne has given you good evidence, do not listen to Eko ile and co they are just paid agents. I do talk my own

If you ACN the next Lagos state Gov, I can sure you we go regret am because it would be business as usual for Tinubu and co. Not that Tinubu would not do all in his power but money and spiritual to make sure ACN wins Lagos cos all his loot would go down the drain.

To keep ACN on their toes and PDP IN THE SW (Note ACN/PDP in the SW including edo and delta is different from PDP in other regions lets not mistake the two) on their toes, we need, I repeat we need to make sure PDP wins next Lagos elections if we Omo oduas want to keep enjoying good governance.

Forget all the bigots making fun, try to view things from an outsiders point of view and HAVE FORESIGHT OF THE IMPENDING DANGER. Already Lagos roads are very bad and Fashola did not do much like his first term (not that he did not try), but he is relaxed.
