Nigerian Carrier, Dana Air has been formally announced as the newest member of The International Air Transport Association (IATA). 
 
The IATA membership is coming just two years after the airline passed its International Operations Safety Audit (IOSA) and was admitted into the association’s global safety registry.

BreakingNews: ‘Python Dance’ Soldiers Attack Journalists, Destroy Properties In Abia

Information reaching 247ureports.com indicates that the soldiers stationed in Abia State may have lost control of their actions. This is as some of the soldiers attacked the National Union of Journalist [NUJ] secretariat along Aba road in Uumahia, Abia State destroying properties and injuring some of the press officers inside the office.

According to eyewitness reports, the soldiers who were stationed nearby the secretariat claimed they were being filmed/photographed by the press officers inside the secretariat. When the soldiers barged into the secretariat, they grabbed all cameras and film equipment belonging to the reporters and began damaging the properties that included computers and other accessories. They also manhandled some of the reporters.

This action on the part of the soldiers follows an attack on the members of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra [IPOB] a few days ago when the police claimed the military men were only testing their newly repaired amoured vehicle. Several injuries were reported during the attack. Other reports indicate up to five people lost their lives.

The People of Imo state seems to have started reaping the benefits of the partnership between the Imo State Government and Dana Air. 

Heartland fc of Owerri, the official team of Imo state and currently the National League leaders, Saturday; flew Dana Air from Owerri to Lagos ahead of the team's match against ikorodu united in Lagos. This according to sources is part of the existing partnership between Dana Air and the state government. 

Since the inauguration of the partnership, the airline has been in the forefront of community development initiatives in the state as well as supporting Youth empowerment and humanitarian drives in the state. The most recent on the list of its CSR was its support for Elfreeda Foundation, a non governmental organisation committed to providing shelter and basic needs to the poor and needy in the society. 

The Team returned this morning after stealing a point against ikorodu united In Lagos  and expressed gratitude to the management of the airline for the 'wonderful' flight experience. 

Earlier in the year, the Imo State Government entered into a partnership with Dana Air to launch Imo Air operated by Dana Air, as part of efforts by the state government to diversify the economy of the state, create jobs and boost tourism in the state.

Following the emergence of Hon. Tony Nwoye as the Standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Anambra State gubernatorial election, one of the major contenders in the primaries, Chief Donatus Okonkwo has extended his congratulatory message to Hon. Nwoye. Recently, reports emerged regarding the former governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi\'s opposition to a female governor in Anambra State. Mr Obi and another political figure, Humpfrey Nwosu had been quoted as being against the idea. This revelation of Mr Obi and co\'s stance, undoubtedly deserves the outright condemnation of all right-thinking indigenes of Anambra State, and in fact, Nigeria. 


It is noteworthy that since the creation of Anambra, the state\'s affairs have been run 99% of the time by men, and till date, there\'s no laudable development to show for it, as the principal actors have spent most of the time immersed in lingering political squabbles. Even the short period spent by Mrs Etiaba as governor following the impeachment of Peter Obi cannot be properly regarded as a period of female governorship, as she was removed before her leadership could be tested. 


Thus, it follows that we cannot continue to do things the same way and expect a different result. Anambra State is the state with the highest potential in Nigeria, especially in terms of human resources, and as such ought to be on the forefront of meaningful development in the country. But the negation has been the case. This unfortunate, and indeed ironic, reality must be reversed now or we all live to regret at, as our children would inherit a messed up and backward state. 


And one of the feasible ways to reverse this negative trend is to try what has never been done before -- give a woman the mantle of leadership of the state through the ballot. But, it\'s exactly this notion that Mr Peter Obi and Humpfrey Nwosu have been quoted as being vehemently opposed to. And this makes one ask the question: what exactly are they afraid of? Could Mr. Obi\'s oppositional stance on having a female governor be informed by his grievances towards his former deputy, Mrs Etiaba, for accepting the governorship portfolio, following his impeachment? If so, the political class must understand that Anambra State is far bigger than any one man\'s grievances. He must be reminded that the world is rapidly changing and just like on the home front, women are stepping in, all over the world, to clean up the mess left by men. And Anambra should not be an exception. 

And what\'s more, Anambra State has been abundantly blessed with women who have proven to be quite effective and formidable in whatever position they\'re placed in, whether by way of appointment or through the ballots. Notable women like Stella Odua, Uche Ekwunife and Hon. Linda Ikpeazu deserve a chance to prove their mettle on the state\'s highest office. 

One will not forget in a hurry some of these women\'s exemplary leadership in recent years in public offices they\'ve handled, despite some politicised controversies. For instance, not too long ago, Mrs Uche Ekwunife, as the chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum, shook that industry, and was clearly on her way to effecting major positive changes before her unfortunate judicial removal from office. 

Stella Oduah, on the other hand, despite the propaganda and politicised controversies that have trailed her, has left no one in doubt as to her ability to perform excellently when thrusted with a public office. It is on record that she remains, so far, the highest ever performing Minister of Aviation in the history of Nigeria, as she transformed the nation's aviation sector within the short period of time she spent in office, turning around the fortunes of many airports, and by extension states and regions, like the Enugu airport which she transformed rapidly to an international status. 

‎Also highlighting their strength, Hon. Linda Ikpeazu Is the ‎current serving member of the house, that has been performing well and actively representing her constituency and the nation in general

Today, Stella Odua remains a voice to reckon with at the Nigerian Senate. Women like Stella Odua reminds one of the Hillary Clinton\'s, Angela Merkel's, and Theresa May's of this world.

It is, therefore, utterly distasteful that someone like Peter Obi, who has been advocating for change in the style of governance across the nation would now turn around to appoint himself a stumbling block to a long-needed paradigm shift in his own home state.


All reasonable indigenes of Anambra State must play their own role to ensure we get it right this time, come November 18th. And to ensure we don't keep doing things the same way while expecting a different result, we must encourage our women to come forward for a chance to steer the ship of the state. And if the candidacy of people like Stella Oduah, Uche Ekwunife and Hon. Linda Ikpeazu scare the hell out of political class ...well, they must be reminded that Anambra State is not their private business, nor was it created to massage their male ego.‎

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, Liberian Ministers Endorse The SCREEN Magazine

Imo state Governor Rochas Okorocha over the weekend applauded the editorial team of The SCREEN Magazine for the rich contents and network of circulation. The executive editor Alex Nwankwo was among the guests and nollywood stars hosted at the government lounge for a dinner with His Excellency following the Elfreeda Foundation launch.

He was also received at the home of the Chief Of Staff where the governor's daughter Mrs Uloma Rochas Nwosu commended him for ‎his hard work and consistency in journalism. Uloma is the founder of the recently launched Elfreeda Foundation and wife of the Imo state Chief of Staff. 

Earlier in the week, the magazine was received and endorsed by cross section of Liberian Ministers. AlexReports who was in Liberia for African World Peace media conference‎, visited the Executive Mansion of the government house in Monrovia. Nigeria's famous philanthropist and ICT specialist Olakunle Churchill was over the weekend awarded as the African Youth & Governance Champion by youth group from different African countries under the umbrella of African Youth And Governance Conference (AYGC). The interactive event which attracted young and enterprising entrepreneurs across Africa and diaspora was held in Abeokuta with Churchill responding to questions from the participants.

‎Building on the themes and outcomes of previous African Youth and Governance Conferences (AYGCs) held annually from 2009 to 2017, the 9th AYGC, provided a platform for the young participants to interrogate critical continental and global issues of relevance to youth development in Africa under the conference broad theme "HARNESSING AFRICA'S DEMOGRAPHIC DIVIDEND THROUGH INVESTMENTS IN YOUTH”.  The conference which connects to about 35 African countries had a creative art work of Dr. Olakunle Churchill drawn instantly by one of the youth participants

The high point of the conference which extended to a second session at night‎ was the iconic award presentation to the Chairman of Big Church Group for Entrepreneurship, Agriculture and ICT. There was music and traditional dance display by the different countries culture. Churchill was also in company of his mother and team members.

Nigeria’s new pop sensation known as Yungjeff has just survived a deadly robbery attack which happened on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, in the Ajah, area of Lagos State.

The rapper, who was scheduled to perform during the weekly Industry Nite held at Othello Lounge, Victoria Island Lagos, was accosted around 7pm by a group of armed hoodlums numbering about eight.

He was physically assaulted alongside his P.A, who escaped with bodily bruises.

The rapper’s cellphones, expensive jewelry worth hundreds of thousands of naira, inluding an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from him. The visibly shaken singer would have suffered extensive injuries save for the timely appearance of some army personnel on patrol, who finally came to the scene of the incident prompting the criminals to zoom off into the dark.

Reacting to the incident, a senior management of NCS Entertainment, Yungjeff's UK based record label Mr Nneji Onuoha said has said that the “attack was a mindless one which has left their artiste traumatized”, adding that the incident “prevented the rapper from appearing on stage at the Industry Nite in which he was billed to perform”. They also went on to thank the men of Nigeria’s Army who fortunately were on patrol duty and charged them and the Lagos state government to do more in terms of security to prevent such type of criminal activities in the future.

Yungjeff who recently released the music video to his nationwide hit ‘Oroma’ is on a nationwide media and club tour and has been the talk of the town, waltzing into an indigenous rap genre already dominated by the likes of Phyno, Zoro and many others.

He seems to have found his mojo, after featuring Zoro in his debut single ‘Tem Tem’, and returing with a big bang ‘Oroma’, which is currently enjoying massive airplay across Africa.

The gubernatorial aspirant in the upcoming Anambra State election, Prince Donatus Okonkwo, has added his voice to the condemnation of the recent gunmen's attack at a church in Ozubulu community within the state. Prince Okonkwo who had always emphasized that the state is not as secure as the current governor claims, lamented the fact that the perpetrators of a heinous crime of that caliber were able to escape successfully, and uninterrupted by the security apparatuses in the state.

He added, "I'm still in deep shock, days after this heinous act. But this goes to show that all is not well in our state. Without adequate security, then the government has failed in its primary duty to the people". The businessman turned politician, who has never seized to express  confidence on winning the November 18 Guber election, further added, "We need to ensure that this kind of unfortunate incident does not re-occure in the state. And the best way to do that is to use the ballot wisely come November. God forbid that ours should be a porous state where criminals and assassins can just come in, commit crimes, and go as they please".

Prince Okonkwo prayed for the souls of those killed in the attack, and pledged his support in ameliorating the damage caused the bereaved, the church, and the community.

Recall that some unknown gunmen stormed a Catholic church last Sunday during early morning mass, killing over 13 worshipers, and injuring much more.

Olakunle Churchill, Praiz, Mike Ezuruonye, Tboss, Rachel Bakam Visit National Hospital As Foundation


‎The humanitarian gesture of Dr. Olakunle Churchill was extended to the fire accident victims at the National Hospital Abuja, following the presentation of Life Saving Ambulance To the Federal Fire Services few days ago. The visit of the Foundation was in company of top celebrities like Praiz, Mike Ezuruonye, ex- BBNaija housemate TBOSS, Victoria Kimani, Waje, Rachel Bakam, Emma Nyra, and a host of others. 

It was indeed an emotional sight to behold as the pathetic appearance of the fire accident victims attracted tears from the celebrities and sober reflective mood from the executive chairman of Big Church Foundation. The BURNS Ward had several patients both young and old reeling in pains as the foundation guests were dressed in hospital vets to sympathise with them. 

Big Church Foundation paid some fire accident victims hospital bills, supported some that needed operations and bought gifts for others especially a traumatic 3 years old boy whose case was heartbreaking. Churchill who lead the team promised to always check on their state of health, while calling on other Nigerians to consider helping the fire victims who are not only in pains but in dire need for financial support.
