striktlymi: ^^^

manmustwack only demonstrated that he is afraid of you and also a very partial individual by not banning you.

You do need to grow up!!!
What manmustwac understands and what afflicted Jesoul didn't grasp was that you just don't ban people without justification. You don't ban people that did not break any rules. Jesoul and maclatunji would just say "your post is offensive" and ban you. An atheists bans you when you break rules. So unless you specify exactly which rule my post for prayer request contravened, you have no basis to ask for my ban and you would be the one breaking not one but two rules: Don't wish harm to any nl member and don't advocate violent actions against any person.

This thread: https://www.nairaland.com/1376676/please-pray-jesoul#17096120 needs to be deleted and Alfa given a well deserved ban since he has refused to grow up.
Which alfa exactly do want banned? seltzer or mann or man1 or man2 or SSS or which of the other two hundred alfa monikers. If manmustwac wants to waste his time like jesoul did a few weeks ago, at the request of christians, that's his problem.

noskyboy: If my parents never got married or met in anyway, would I still have existed? am not talking of the physical me, because biology have already taken care of that, am talking the psychological and spiritual me, I thought the answer was obvious until I asked a couple of people, different answers and explanations, I then got interested in knowing what you think about it. please I need logical and reasonable answers.
Imagine if your father decided to jerk off first before penetrating your mum. You would have been amongst the first batch of spermatozoids that end up in a tissue paper. But you were ejected inside. You raced while millions of other identical yous died in the process. You reached the uterus and fertilized the egg. You out of billions did it. And that was only the beginning of the survival race. No man. You are unique. There is no other you. You got only one single life that you fought tooth and nail to have. Don't let others make you waste it by believing their fairy tales.

Nobody knows everything bros, I am pretty sure there's aspects of life I know that you have no knowledge about and vice versa as well. People read these threads like me without commenting much and it gets confusing hence my clarification questions. I try from time to time to educate myself on the topic currently I am reading the selfish gene by richard dawkins and I always want a balanced view, I want to know when what I read crosses from fact to conjecture, that being said however some of us are really really busy and only have the time to post once in a while.
Biology has never been my strongest suit, theres a phd holder here, if I do not know I would say.
If however you want some schooling in some really cool engineering stuff hola I would be happy to fill your tiny slate with that knowledge........ok am done being nice BACK THE FUXKCK OFF! angry angry
If you are an engineer, you could contribute on the big bang side of the discussion. It is more physics than biology.

striktlymi: Your conclusion is rather illogical!!!

The individual is guilty even in the sight of men and by human law he would be thrown in jail...but when God sees this same individual as guilty, your bias could not let you see the truth of this verdict?

WHATEVER to you too!!!
Yeah whatever! A god that aligns itself with the laws of men. Except jailbirds do eventually come out or die. Yours would torture them indefinetely.

And no sane society would throw the man in my example into a jail.

Deep Sight: Elementary.

You still have not pointed at the impetus for splits. Not at all. You have only said that such splits occur, fine. I asked you why on earth such a split would occur at all. What drives this. Rushing out now, but I repeat the question: what inherent impetus does a unicellular organism have for the survival of its species, the propagation of its genes? What interest? What drive? From where? For what? What should cause it to engage in the act of reproduction at all?
What type of question is this? Is it rhetorical? If I don't have the answer, does it mean that god did it?

Anyway the answer to your question is, as I told you before, the answer to the question if you replace unicellular with man. Just in case you don't understand. This is the question: what inherent impetus does a human being have for the survival of its species, the propagation of its genes? What interest? What drive? From where? For what? What should cause it to engage in the act of reproduction at all?

You get it? Exactly the same answer. Ball is in your court.
Christianity EtcRe: Killing In The Course Of Official Duty: What's Your View? by AlfaSeltzer(m): 9:45am On Jul 29, 2013
striktlymi: Hi Ome,

This is quite an interesting topic and one I think is a bit problematic for a number of Christians, especially those who happen to be members of the armed forces.

First of, I believe firmly that not every act of killing is prohibited by God. The only act of killing I believe God prohibits is the killing of the innocent. This still pops the question: How do we know who is innocent?

Generally, I don't believe the following acts of killing are prohibited by any tenet in Christianity:

1) Killing out of self defence.
2) Killing within the confines of the law.
3) Killing at a time of war.

The above items are really not cast in stone because there are still some factors to take into consideration before we can appropriately determine whether one is free from guilt after committing the above act of killing.

Some of these factors would include:

1) Whether it was necessary to apply deadly force when defending oneself in the case of self defense.
2) Whether one took delight in killing, irrespective of the method.
3) The intention of the individual still plays a great role.

Now, if your soldier friend killed a number of persons he shouldn't have, deliberately, then he is guilty even though this was done at a time of war.
Let's say you came back home from work and see your wife tied up, bleeding and crying in one corner, and your daughter being gang raped by two men. They see you and start running away in fear. You take out your gun and shoot them.

1 - You didn't kill them in self defense. They were running away and were no longer at that time posing any threat.
2 - You didn't kill them within the confines of law because the law does not authorise you to take justice into your own hands.
3 - There was no war.

According to you and your beliefs, you are guilty and your atrocious god would send you to hell. Whatever.
Christianity EtcRe: Who The Hell Said The Big Bang And Evolution Explain Life??????? by AlfaSeltzer(m): 9:24am On Jul 29, 2013
Deep Sight: You must admit you edited your post and said prey and then predator. So I never knew what you meant, now its quite simple. Your example does not answer my question. How does a split into a duo-cellular organism prevent the organism from being prey? Secondly, how does such a split even occur, does it just spontaenously occur (random mutation) as a result of being hunted? Do antelopes for instance spontaneously (or perhaps over generations) split themselves into two to avoid being prey to lions? Now, assuming that this occurs (it actually does through normal se.xual reproduction in their case), where can we glean the impetus for this? Because it would not rest with the organism itself - i.e: the organism would have died at the hands of the predator or still die of natural causes, anyway, and only its descendants would survive. What interest does a unicellular organism have in the survival of its kind? What drives this?

Now, even where it is easy to see an advanced being such as man being concerned about its descendants, it is hopelessly absurd to accept a unicellular organism as having any impetus for such: any desire or impetus "to propagate its genes" and worse still, if such an impetus exists, it must be wondered - from where, and why would a unicellular organism have such an impetus, and WORST OF ALL: It must be wondered exactly how such a unicellular organism begins such a division (as.exual reproduction) and what triggers this at all!

It therefore must be wondered whence parental instinct derives from, and in arguing that the unicellular organism bears an impetus to reproduce, then it is actually being said by the atheist that unicellular organisms have a parental instinct of some sort!

This, in itself, discloses an indication of a higher sense of the existence of all things already, but no matter!

You see, this thread is a laugh. It is a huge laugh to atheism and strict materialist evolutionists. When one thinks about it, one realizes that there is nothing at all, not even the existence of nairaland, that can be intelligibly explained by the atheists.

I talked about the age of the earth. Resounding Silence. I talked about se.xuality and the division of as.exual organisms into male and female creatures. Resounding silence. And so much more. Only laughter, mocking chants, appeals that we should try Google (I am particularly embarrassed at Plaetton for that one) and ofcourse, the bed-wetting juvenile logicboy, finally showing up with expletives like the unbalanced and mentally ill teenager he truly is.

There is nothing within any of these reactions to command any respect. The best that has been said by you lot was actually said by ooman: namely that you do not know.
Where do I start?

I guess I'll have to explain it to you like you are retarded. (If you are not, apologies and please see http://www.pnas.org/content/early/2009/02/13/0811205106.full.pdf+html which is a university study of evolution of unicellular volvox to multicellular ones of varying number of cells and different specialisations)

Firstly, you got it all wrong again. Evolution is not and has never been spontaneous. It is not a one time action but an ongoing process. A learning and adapting process that never ends. To answer your questions, antelopes cannot divide themselves into two to evade lions but over a few million years, may develop new specialised cells or minute dna modification that may help them in their evasion of predators. It could be a heightened sense of smell, a better eyesight, an increase in speed of about 1km/hour extra, or something else altogether. If such happens, it is evolution.

Also note that not all members of a given specie evolve in the same way. From the study I linked, you can see that the green algae evolved differently. Some have only 4 cells while others have up to 64 cells with specialised functions and even those with similar number of cells may have them arranged differently in order to adapt to their particular environment. But they all come from the same ancestor.

You ask what interest does a unicellular organism have in the survival of its kind? Did I hear well? Even plants, which you already claim have no consciousness, are always fighting for the survival of their kind. You might as well ask what interest humans have at the survival of humankind. You stated that humans have the impetus but you didn't say why we do in particular and not other animals.

Your next question is what triggers the cell divisions. There are many factors. I have already given you one. But there may also be other unknown factors. Science is still studying these things and we are at an early stage of understanding. The complexity of life is such that sometimes things happen without any plausible explanation as to why. We observe things happening. If we can't explain why, it doesn't mean that the thing we observed didn't happen, does it?

You are right that this thread has turned into a laugh. But it is a laugh at the ignorance of theists who just assume an imaginary being because they are intellectually limited in explaining of things that surround them.

Here it is again: In red this time so you can't claim you missed it. It is logical and beneficial for a unicellular organism to evolve into a multicellular one in order to avoid or overcome a predator.
