I believe we Igbos are playing mature through the ways we've been able to keep calm and watch the unfolding drama in this country. We no longer believe in using violence as a means of achieving our BIAFRA dreams but we will just sit, watch and wait until the TIME-BOMB explodes. We will simply gather together and declare BIAFRA whilst the other regions/tribes are busy fighting and killing themselves. It will come as a SURPRISE to y'all.

Nigerian federation after the subsidy war will be upgraded to nigeria 4.0
nigeria 1.0  after the civil war                   igbos vs Nigeria
nigeria 2.0  after the slaughter coups of 1976  middle belt vs Hausa/fulani
nigeria 3.0  after june 12                         yorubas vs Hausa
nigeria 4.0 after subsidy war                  SE/SS VS SW/NW/NE

the forces are still alligning , lets see where Middle belters will allign  and  how the events of 2015 will play out. I dont think there will be much slaughter because UN already has troups  waiting , my candid advice is , stop being superstitous and separate now , a stich in time saves nine.
the Mother of all protests might lead to the mother of all wars
Nyamaria boy, Middle belt protested from markudi, to lokoja to niger, to kwara, to plateau etc

So stop this ur propangada

I am happy that you guys are realising that the Igbos meant well for you in 1966. It is a pity that you lost people like Saro Wiwa and co but the earlier you guys wake up the better for us all. The correct spelling of South South and South East regions is B I A F R A. May the soul of Ikemba Ojukwu rest in peace, Amen,
Nchara is Igbo not Ijaw
So let me see if I have this right.

In a nutshell, unless you are from the Niger Delta, you are not permitted to protest against any policies by GEJ.

The ordinary rights one is supposed to have in a democracy are forfeit, since the oil in the ND belongs to the residents of the same.

Is this correct?

So let us accept this logic of Dukubo and co temporarily.

My question for you all, will you let someone squeeze your balls over cash?

Ben Franklin had something to say about situations like this. And his advice I think is quite apt.
+ 10

Those who attempted to demonstrate were either threatened with "no work, no pay" or coerced by the law enforcement agencies to stay off the streets in their own interest. Despite such intimidation, some angry protesters still prang into major roads in Edo and Delta states to register their grievances.

Nwanne m, what I find most laughable is that the people holding those same views will still wonder why we are killed easily without consequences; they still expect us to be able to unite and fight for our defense or freedom. Of course that is impossible without a common authority, without a common front!
What those folks fail to understand is that, since our circumstance is like that of the Jews (somehow), we should really copy a lot of things from them. For instance, even at the earliest times of their history (according to the Bible), they had judges. After that, they agitated for "a king that will go before us in war" - a physical leader.

It is my personal opinion that the greatest achievement of the Igbo nation in 1967-70 is the fact of coming under ONE leadership. It is powerful stuff, and our history changed for ever after that.  cool

What we must fight for, now that Ojukwu has died, is to find another leader who will surpass or equal him in VISION, TOUGHNESS and FOCUS, to lead us going forward.

We must find him!  cool

2. know what project the government is embarking on so we know were the money is going

Have you read the SURE program thing ? I think you people need to read and understand the content of that SURE program

More than half of the money meant for FG projects would be give to state governor. Now to do what ? build roads etc undecided cry you mean the money each state governor is going from the center before is not enough to build roads etc ?

I mean a state governor would tell us that 20 kilometer road is 2 billion naira to build

@ Alj, I agree this is one of the hardest pills Nigerians have had to swallow. I guess it's because this is a different pill from the others. I am also happy that Nigerians have reacted this was (as expected). This is because, if it eventually pulls thro, GEJ will need to do a lot of work to justify the huge sacrifice. because of this move, our refineries will have no choice but to function properly. Our power situation and every other key challenge will also have to be dealt with squarely. Anything less will be suicidal for GEJ. He tends to do well under pressure.
You see, that is the problem. GEJ is one man and moreover if he does not do right, we cannot kill him. He would just be an ex-president in 2015 and we Nigerians would still be suffering from the decisions he made.

Rather than promise, vow etc, why not do the right thing so you don't have to go through all the stress.

Many Nigerian ( intelligent Nigerians) Know the good of the subsidy removal including me and I very much understand the implication if the subsidy is not removed. The problem still stands never the less.

since 2010 GEJ was the president. He could have started a rail project to link the west, east and north all together thus the cost of transport "would be envisaged to go lower once it is completed" thus he can now come 2012 and remove subsidy explaining to Nigerians the reason for that. Majority of the people would understand.

I remember during the election when he took the train from Lagos to Illorin telling us that the trains are back. Well are the trains still working or it is just during election periods the trains kick back to life ?

Those are just few reasons why all this promises would do no good.

Right now, I understand Nigerians stances on this issue which is the reason I stated above

I understand ND stance on the issue which is because GEJ is the first president from the region thus they are doing everything to protect HIS interest.

I understand the SE stance on the issue as well which is the same as Nigerians but a bit more to complicated and the average Nigerian stance

PoliticsRe: My Qusetion About "this Subsidy". by aljharem(m): 6:25pm On Jan 15, 2012
I would help you out with my own understanding

1. Nigeria sells crude oil for a very low amount of money to foreign refineries. these foreign refineries separate the OUR crude oil into different component and sell it back to us for a higher price which they use to make their own profit, ,.,.,.,.,.-------- First cause of protest

thus we can say we don't really make profit from the sales of crude oil unless we do not buy back the refined oil

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. the money gotten for the sales of the crude oil (which we did not ask back) would be used to pay the senators, ministers, charimen, Governors etc and also for over priced bugets eg a 20 km road for 20 billion naira-----ridiculous

3. we pay for such high prices by NNPC because of the corrupt system. Also there are private reservoir owners that charge about 3-5 naira a liter since NNPC/ NIGERIA does not have a large enough reservoir to store our petrol

Also another fraud is that the private owners DON'T give NNPC the whole petrol back, they steal some and sell it in the black market.

4. Yes it is them and they sell it to Nigeria at ta higher price because of the number (1) reason and also some fraud. at the end of the day, they are business men looking to make their profit and it is not their fault that Nigeria cannot refine the crude oil she produces.

you can ask more questions, I would be willing to answer so people can know what is going on.

Ibime:
Hey Debo, you beat me to it.

This is the reason why GEJ sneaked the price in like a thief in the night cos if he announced April 1st deadline, the marketers woulda just hoarded petrol until April when they could make a killing.

The scenario we just painted shows why anything short of a vigorous fight against corruption will always fail, a situation which rendered GEJ's Government dead on arrival. So much for "continuity" as the OP was preaching during election time. There is no getting past the fact that any Government who is soft on corruption is a cancer to the Nigerian people.
Yes I noticed that as well and it was a good move. still has not addressed the issue for the protest though

Alhaji, when will it be the right time? Today it is boko rams, tomorrow it may be hurricane babangida, tsunami obasanjo or some earthquake! There is never a time where there won't be challenges. The wise men say: The farmer who waits for perfect weather never plants.
I like those words but the farmer that plants in the dry season and harvent in the wet season only has himself to blame because he crops would not grow well.

Now efisher, I like to establish something which is Subsidy has to go because clearly it is not sustainable for the country to be subsiding petrol for neighbours as I understand.

You see, GEJ has not lead by example and as I speak I am now a gej supporter after the elections because as soon as he was sworn in; He became my president and as an ordinary Nigerian citizen I hold my allegiant to him.

The problem million of Nigerians have now is the billions spent during the election and billions spent in his aso rock.

I don't see the way he is able tell us that we are borrowing money which many perceive as the money he used for the election aso rock etc.

People see GEJ as one of them(corrupt leaders obj and co) now and they would like to see visible results before the removal.

You can't just tell us that 1.3 trillion would transform the economy. NO WAY

GEJ has been the president since 2010, we are in 2012 now NO change and you expect me to believe that there would be change now ?

People would like to see refinaries built, maybe even power projects and rail projects all under contruction . then he would come and tell us that he needs more money to complete these project and as such subsidy has to be removed. That is more logical because it is the game of the mind that people would at least know where the money would be going to.

Was it not the same Iweala in 2005 that promised Heaven in Nigeria if we pay 16 billion dollars all at once ( NO country in world has ever paid that much all at once for debts) Is nigeria Heaven now ? No

the same person is coming again with another story that subsidy would turn nigeria into Heaven. Bros that is a hard pill to swallow.

Government should do something to help the suffering masses. I am not supporting Jonathan but he must have a good reason for wanting to remove Subsidy. He should have consulted widely before taking his actions. As for me, this is not the right time to have subsidy removed. We still have Boko Haram to chase. There shouldn’t be any form of gathering right now. The timing is all wrong, we don’t the distraction.
