Politicshow Fg Can Sell Fuel At N20 Per Litre by aljharem(op): 2:56pm On Jan 15, 2012
CHAIRMAN, D-8 Business Forum and president, Sapele Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Sapele, Delta State, Prince David Iweta, weekend, revealed how the Federal Government can sell petrol at N20 per liter and also get rid of the crisis of fuel subsidy removal.

He suggested that the Federal Government should peg the pump price of petrol at N65 per liter in 2012, and progressively at N20 per liter by 2015.

His words, “The Chamber of Commerce wish to inform the Government of Nigeria and the entire people of Nigeria that the pump price of N20 per litre is very possible by 2015 if government pursues a committed and progressive monetary policy, which should be anchored around Central Bank of Nigeria”.

According to him, “The principal factor that determines the price of imported commodity is the exchange rate of any economy, particularly against other major international currencies. It is, therefore, achievable to attain a price of N20 per litre of petrol by 2015 if our monetary policy is given the desired attention by making the dollar to firm around N10 to the US$1”.

“As in the case of South Africa’s Rand that exchanges for about R8 to US$1, be it noted that the principal factor pushing the pump price of PMS to all high N141 per litre is the high exchange rate of the Naira at N160 to the US$1.

“The Federal Government is in a very good position in attract foreign exchange inflows in the region of US$350billion yearly from sources other than proceeds from export of crude oil and gas, the saving and retention of about US$16billion from the forex expended on importing petroleum products as presented by the Central Bank Governor during the Town hall debate in Lagos would be saved when Nigeria can refine its petrol products need on or before 2015, as funded US$8billion by the CBN and US$8billio by commercial banks respectively.

“This already is 40 per cent of the nation foreign exchange. It is very practicable to attract US$8billion annually by making it mandatory that all imported fuel into Nigeria be freighted/transported by indigenous tanker owners and by that, the foreign exchange required to pay cost of freight to foreign vessel owners will be retained in Nigeria”.

PoliticsKate Henshaw Goes Tough On Nigerian Government by aljharem(op): 2:46pm On Jan 15, 2012
The latest tension raised by the removal of fuel subsidy on the first day of 2012 seems not having any traces of being dowsed soon.

The issue has had many stakeholders in Nollywood come out to take a stand on the matter after being labeled as a body that supported President Jonathan. Kate Henshaw has also spoken openly on the matter.

While speaking on a TV programme monitored by NigeriaFilms, Kate was vehement in her argument, pointing out that the government caused the present situation for itself.

According to the actress whose 12 years marriage recently broke down, she asked, “What has government done for us? I just want them to pin point one thing they have done for us.

“I can’s drink water from the tap, I don’t good roads to drive on, no light, no good hospitals and I am 40 years old, what do we have?”
Speaking further in anger, this mother of one said, “I am holding my government accountable for my life in this country to provide me with basic amenities. Why would the President say we should live with the problem of Boko Haram?

“The fuel subsidy was the last straw that broke the camel’s back. They want to take the last comfort away from us and never expected a revolt. You cannot take away from people who don’t have.”

One the way the government runs it expenses, Kate Henshaw advised the government to take caution. “They need to cut down on their expenses and wastages. Nigeria does not belong to 10,000 people but 150 million people.

“We need to know what they use our money for. Do they need to spend our money to do birthday parties outside Nigeria? Do they need so much money to celebrate our own independence when there are people hungry? You need to make them comfortable in their country.”

Kate also pointed out that what the government needs to do is to earn the trust of the people and not force Nigerians to follow its policies with questioning from Nigerians.

“What have they done with the money they have gotten from the subsidy removal of diesel and kerosene some years back? Hello, can they answer that?

“What have they used the money for to make our lives better? It has disappeared in the air just like the cabals that cannot be seen, they are spirits. The government broke the table of discussion and dialogue with the people.

“I watch how old people who have served the country suffer to get what belongs to them will the money they get from the subsidy removal suddenly provide all the things that we need?” Kate concluded.

By Abdallah el-Kurebe

As the anti-fuel subsidy removal entered its fifth day on Friday and in spite of the intensity of security around government buildings and other strategic places, some youths alleged to be members of opposition parties in Sokoto State took advantage of the protest to raze the Independent National Electoral Commission’s, INEC, office in Bodinga, the headquarters of Bodinga local government area.

When Sunday Vanguard visited Bodinga, about twenty kilometers from Sokoto metropolis around 4 p.m. on Friday, the INEC office was still in flames while some shops close to the office at the junction of Danchadi village road had caught fire.

Bodinga local government council chairman, Alhaji Buda Badau, condemned the attack, but said that calm had been restored in the town “following the deployment of policemen to safeguard lives and property while some were patrolling the town.”

Sokoto State police commissioner, Alhaji Baba Adisa Bolanta, confirmed the incident, saying investigation was still on to unravel the perpetrators.

Also, the INEC public relations officer in Sokoto, Alhaji Mohammed Musa, in a telephone conversation, said “All vital documents, electronics, printers, office furniture, batteries and generators were destroyed by the fire.”

PoliticsRe: Gej Decieved Nollywood With $200m- Chukwura by aljharem(m): 10:39pm On Jan 14, 2012
Popular Nollywood actress, Clarion Chukwurah, has berated President Goodluck Jonathan over his purported donation of $200 million to the entertainment industry saying it was a deceit.

Clarion Chukwurah
The actress who joined her counterparts in the entertainment industry in support of the masses against the removal of subsidy by the President, said nobody in the industry can say he has received the money from the President.
President Jonathan had announced a donation of $200 million to the entertainment industry during a meeting with the stakeholders in the industry. He described this as a direct intervention lifeline for the exclusive purpose of supporting artist and developing the entertainment industry.
The announcement was made at the 30th anniversary of the Silverbird Group in Lagos.
He had immediately received commendations from actors, actresses and musicians most of whom released campaign songs for him and publicly endorsed him as their candidate.
Chukwurah, while reacting to the removal of fuel subsidy by the President and some of his policies since he assumed office, Nigerians should not believe in his promises adding that the President is like other politicians who promise and fail.
She said the President announced the huge sum for the entertainment industry as “a bait to get us all to endorse him for the election and sell our fans to him,” since the President believes that with such endorsement, their fans would do same.
Also, musician, Daddy Showkey, regretted endorsing him during Jonathan’s campaign, saying the President had reneged on his promise to the people of the country.
Daddy Showkey said: “though I followed him throughout the campaign period, endorsed him and campaigned for him, I don’t support this policy.”
He added in pidgin English: “Jonathan, they say I should tell you to revert to the old fuel price of N65 per litre,” he said.

Now with that said

I like to reaffirm somethings on this thread

1. Not all Igbos are baifrans and indeed majority of them are one of the nicest people I ever meet

2. That was 1960, this is 2012 so why do we keep going back to the hateful and bitter history

3. I understand why the younger generations of igbos are bitter and angry but I urge them to leave the past with the past and focus of the future.

4. Igbos are one of the most industrious people on earth and I am happy and proud to have them in the same country as myself. Indeed every Nigerian should be happy to have Igbos in Nigeria and be thanking God for that.

5. God Bless Nigeria.

i'm sorry i don't really understand your question  hence not sure what to answer.
Jakumo
please what has Pastor Adeboye got to do with you, i hope you won't carry all your insult  to that extent
you are aware why awolowo joined the war ? thus my question why I dislike baifran.

What were Biafrans doing in bendel ?

What were Baifrans doing in Ore ?

Do you think if they did not invade other lands, the awolowo's and co would have joined ?

Dude there is no moral justification for them killing other peoples leader and sparing theirs. But lets say it was a mistake and they did not see it as an Igbo thing but Nigerian and they love us.

The next thing the Igbos in sabon gari did was to laugh at northerners and make fun of them gloating about how they rule the country now etc. THAT IS WHAT STARTED THE WAR BETWEEN NORTH AND IGBOS.

Why awolowo joined was simple and I would urge you to read,  know and understand your history very well

Awolowo was imprisoned by Nnamdi Azikwe ( first class tribalism by Nnamdi)

Now again, when Gowon released Awolowo from calabar prison from a deal he had with Ojukwu. NOT OJUKWU RELEASING HIM BY HIS WILL.

Awolowo asked Ojukwu to tell him before he declears seccession of which Ojukwu arrgoancly said he is not talking like an underdog but from a position of authority.

Then Ojukwu sealed his fate and indeed the people that supported him on the night he crossed river Niger to benin city stealing all the wealth of the bendel. On the side line, of course the igbos there were also gloating at the posibility of bendel in baifra and asking the indigenes to speak Igbo.

Then he sent Banjo and others to Ore. My question is what the Fuuuckk is Biafra doing in Ore ? Is Baifra now a libration army or a secessionist army. If the later is correct, then liberates yorubas from who ? Liberate bendel from who ?

Even Banjo had to think twice. It was that bad

All I typed is just a tip of the iceberg, I could go on and On and On

already you can see the people you support calling this same people (yorubas) that they wanted to liberate cowards, backstabber, triator, dirty etc

That is why sir I believe you are not yoruba and can NEVER EVER BE YORUBA. Moreover idi ile wo le ti wa sir ?

We shouldnt be depending so much on oil revenue. Three things are bound to happen in the future if we do:
1. Oil reserves may be found in other non OPEC countries leading to crash in oil prices which directly affects our economy.
2. Alternative energy or green fuel becomes fully developed and gradually phases out crude oil.
3. Oil reserve may get completely consumed.
so if oil would dry up, what do think the government should do ?

a) remove subsidy immediately without infrastructure

or

b) build infrastructure, get investments in other sector before removing subsidy so as to absorb the removal of the subsidy and also generate more revenue for the country ?

which would you pick ?
