alj, was Kate selling the food or her contribution towards the success of protest rally.
If she was giving out FREE, then i think others should emulate so that we can actually complete this non-violent REVOLUTION once and for all.
I am not sure as their are no description from the person I got the image from

I would suspect it was for free and not selling because majority of the protest had free meals by celebrities etc who were willing to help make Nigeria better.

It's quite unfortunate the SE again prove to Nigeria why they cant be trusted. They refuse to be counted .

The implication of this is that thier leader will be taking them for a ride, the level of corruption will grossly increase because they know nobody will challenge them.

The other regions will turn their back to help whenever they need their collective help to achieve anything.

This can jeopardize their political struggle.

With this silence, they are giving Boko Haram more power to kill them. They should have used this opportunity to make case - peaceful protest against the killing of their brother, which could have gathered other regions sympathy and support .

It will become bad history /precedent to tell their children.

They are seeking GEJ favour for their hypocrisy and sycophant act .
far from it, and I understand the reason for not rioting but I believe the governors and co have not done it right this time around

Remember the NLC president is a northerner and one day it would be zoned to the SE, would he like it when SE is striking and the whole country boycott it ? Food for thought.

The SE governors are just using their power to stamp down protest. There were protests in Imo and Anambra.

@ALJ_Harem, It's unfair how you'll just focus on Igbo, igbo, what is your prob? You will have to read objectively into the Igbo society b4 you'll be allover here stoking the tribal flame. Igbo's, were the FIRST to RIOT in Nigeria, as far back as 1929, women for that matter. Aba women riot, is well documented, and they did this when other tribes were just the WHITE MAN'S servitude. When you want to FUSS something on their collective will, they will surprise you. This is a Govt. policy and they careless, cos they will increase the prices of their goods and services as they deem fit. FYI, it's not all the states in Nigeria tht protested. It's in the news that police arrested the Enugu NLC folks, and threating protesters. If you think that the Eastern states NLC sold out, watch out how your FEDERAL ONES WILL SELLOUT BY SATURDAY. I will come here to remind you.
I understand I am being very objective here, Remember Baleysa did not protest because GEJ is from there etc

I am sorry but I am just a bit disappointed thats all. Here is where I leave this thread

I think its got to do with three things;
(1)The south easterners, inlike most people from the othern regions, are less of civil servants and salary earners, they're msotly self-employed,so unlike civil servants and salary earners that will still get paid even if they strike for 3 months, majority of the SEners must work for them to earn any pay.
Not so true, you have banks in the south-east that did not follow the Nigeria labour congress order and followed the orders of the governors and Ohaneze to boycott the protest/ strike. Banks were opened and other businesses were opened in the South-east as usual

rasputinn:
I think its got to do with three things;
(2)People in most parts of the SE have NEVER bought fuel @ N65/litre,they're used to the buying it much higher so they dont understand why the rest of the country is crying blue murder
But they bought it fro 70- 85 Naira right ? How much is it now ? 180 - 200 naira so what do you think ? while others are buying for 141 naira, Has the South-east gained from the increase ?

rasputinn:
(3)They are not so impressed that labour,CSO and the rest of Nigeria kept mum when most Southerners Easterners were being killed by BH in the north
Now that people are fighting and protesting against Boko haram are you joining ?

Also you also have forgotten that NO ONE WOULD PROTEST AGAINST BOKO HARAM more than what they are doing now. Why because if they are killing Igbos and Muslim Northerners have shown the way by forming a Human shield around churches then what does that tell you. That Yorubas have declared a no go zone for Boko haram what does that tell you ? Edo and delta have shown their riot what does that tell you.

Fuel subsidy removal protest is silly; every right thinking person know that.

I am yet to see any serious protest organised against boko haram. Or is Boko Haram a SE problem alone? That said the current protest is about subsidy removal, it is only those who think through their anus, that will expect SE to mix up boko haram protest with something as mundane as subsidy removal protest.
Yes Boko haram would keep killing if you do not voice out

And trust me NO ONE WOULD TALK IF SOUTH-EAST DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO PROTEST AGAINST BOKO HARAM.

Absolutely no one until you speak against the evil Boko haram

Do you think the strike is all about subsidy. Maybe you people need to educate yourselves more

It's simple: to Eastern Nigerians, Our dear Joe is only trying to extend the prices we hv bn payg since Obj, and to us, these protests are not only strange, but uncalled for.  If the owners of the oil say:  Enof stealg of their oil, it affects the Yorubas/Hausa-Fulani, but it's really the right step, however, how much noise is made abt it.

If Pengassan joins the strike, Asari Dokubo and well-meaning Niger Deltans had already given warng,

This strike is a propaganda well sponsored by the south-west and the whole of north.

Joe shld not disappoint, that's all!  Let's go the whole hog, man!  For the first time, he decides to tear aware the apron strings of obj/ibb and una de halla.  This is just the beginng.  Eyes don clear, and no more free oil for thieves!
Bingo !!!! it is all about tribe right ? It means you people are tribalsitic right ?

Is Edo, Cross river, Delta all North and SW now ?

the South-south protested BTW

this is what tribalsim is doing to our Nation, Pure divide and rule

poor mentality, wrong sentimental thinking.

It has to do with the Ibo society " THEY HAVE GIVEN UP on the Nigerian Govt, hence, they go about their businesses. If you are an informed Nigeria, you'll know that Igbos display this same attitude when it comes to election, they barely participate. All these have to do with their REPUBLICAN nature.
strike in which states ?

In anambra, enugu, abia, some banks etc were opened

Owerri, shops etc were opened

is that what they call strike brother ?

certainly not. Even the NLC leaders of those states sold out, why ?

It really sadden my heart because I understand why there is no protest but also no strike ?  undecided

for those that have not been to the east, fuel prices were from 65 Naira to 80 naira maximum

The most rural area in anambra, the pump price had NEVER passed 80 Niara, they come here on NL blowing lies

"A survey between bus drivers from Onitsha, Nnewi, Ekwulobia and Awka to Enugu revealed that the pump price that had ranged from N65-N80 per litre during the yuletide had gone up sharply to between N150- N180 per litre.

Many travellers were forced to return back home as short distance that hitherto cost N30 was now N50, and locations that were before now N100 is now N300, while Awka to Enugu which used to be N250 is now N1000 "

Only an ideeiot would listen to the lies of this people

If it was always sold fro 150 naira as they claim, why then increase their prices then ?

Mumu people

Chaos broke out in Awka, the Anambra State capital yesterday when it dawned on residents that a 131 per cent increase in the price of petrol had crept on them.

Commercial bus drivers and their customers engage themselves in bitter arguments, and even fisticuffs before the situation sunk in as the day wore on, the commuters realised that the situation was the same everywhere.

A survey of the situation in Onitsha, Nnewi, Ekwulobia, Awka and even Enugu revealed that the pump price petrol was between N150 and N180 a litre. Many commuters were forced back home, as short distances that hitherto cost N30 became N50, and destinations that were before now N100 turned N300. Awka to Enugu, which used to be N250 is now N1,000.

Also, most filling stations within the Enugu metropolis refused to open for business, while the very few that opened sold at between N180 and N200 a litre.

FYI, even with the so-called subsidy, petrol sold much higher in the east anyway. For the past 2-3 years, we've been complaining that a liter sells for an avearge of 100 naira in the east while the price had remained 65naira in the "privilaged" north and other places.
So why would you think the same easterners who have been marginalized from everything like number of states, to good roads, to federal appointments, to official miscounting of their census, and now to the price of petrol would troop to the streets to support your protestss huh
can you shut up and stop these lies. how can the average be 100 Naira ? when one of the most booming commercial centre in the east Nnewi is about 75-80 Naira.

Who do you think you are deceiving here ?

Rubbish
