Hahaha, these people are so funny, they never cease to amaze me! grin

First, they were attaching themselves to the SS but now, their sights are set on the MBeltans. I laugh in patois, grin grin

You lot are now realising that you are indeed minute in the grand scheme of things and that without piggybacking, you can never be relevant. Do you have no shame? Where is your pride as a people? Why are you so afraid?

Not only have you relinquished your position to the SS, you now look up to them as your saviour. I shake my head when I see you lot jubilating at the supposedly lion share you will be getting from the national cake and how you will rejoice at the downfall of the SW. Little do you know that the SW has moved well beyond that archaic mode of thought. The SW is positioning itself to be self sufficient and less dependant so that when this marriage results in a divorce, they would be sailing smoothly.

It is clear that you lot see yourselves as being under the shadows of the Yorubas, otherwise you wouldn't believe that Lagos has to fall for you lot to become relevant. I personally would be very glad to see Lagos and other SW states rid of Igbos because these group of people are like cancer. They detest anything Yoruba but they can't do without us because we hold the key to their livelihood. After all said and done, you keep trooping down to our states and yet, we don't reciprocate in kind - shouldn't that tell you something. We are a contented people. We don't need Nigeria to exist unlike the Igbos who are looking to Jonathan, their messiah for the next handout.

Shameless group of people. The SS have one over you now, you have sold your birthright and you will never recover from it.

I dey laff o, why are the SW pple, so jittery, even if they decide to secede, it'll be impossible with the SS/SE & north against them, no international comm will come to their rescue becos they have no oil or anything of interest, they have minimal reps in the army due to their profound lazyness, all they do is sue pple to court like falana & make noise like areaboys which will be irrelevant in a battlezone. As for those talking about HQ's in lagos, the multinational oil firms HQ's are in the SE/SS, mnly the 'paper-work' offices are in lagos, as for the banks they are after money and will move to the region where money is. Many also fail to realise SE people are in firm control of major lagos markets such as alaba, idumota, ladipo, trade-fair, auto-parts & co. While yoribas mostly sell pepper & other mundane things that are of no economic relevance, so if SE pple are absent, lagos will crumble as fashola will tax-out the pepper sellers in a second. Lagos allocation will drastically reduce becos they get what they currently get becos of population and without finance, no maintenance of existing infastructure and all will crumble, u'll then see SW become a ghost town, even awo will rise 4rm his tomb to cry. NB:i will be willing to hire gbawe & seanet02 as poo packers in a psychiatric hospital (at least they wont be able to betray more pple there)!

CultureRe: Origin Of Igbo Town Names by aljharem(m): 10:47pm On May 01, 2011
ezeagu:
Some Igbo town names have been corrupted, and some have even been changed completely because of colonialsm. Some of the meanings of town names are harder to interpret because of this. Some Igbo towns are spelt like nothing they are pronounced because of the colonisers tongue (Onitsha, Owerri, etc), yet the natives of these towns see no reason to change this. Anyway, to help with the proper pronunciation of Igbo town names, post some of their origins, even if they are not of Igbo origin.

Owerri
'Owerri' is 'Owere'. I'm not sure of this town name, but I think it either means 'free, liberty' or 'outside quarters'.

Ogwashi-Ukwu
The origin of this name is with the Nshi (Nri) people who founded this town. The name has been slightly corrupted. It is actually 'Ogwa Nshi Ukwu', meaning 'the great Nri palace' in Igbo.

Agbor
Agbor is from Agbon which is the Bini name for land.

Enugu
Enugwu means 'hill top' (Enu Ugwu) because of the hills of Ngwo, which the original village of Enugwu was part of.

Aguleri
Aguleri is from the descendant of Eri, Agulu Eri of the Nri-Igbo.

[s]Port Harcourt
Port Harcourt was named after Viscount Lewis Harcourt by Frederick Lugard, the town was renamed from what Lugard noted as 'Iguocha' which is 'Ugwu Ocha', 'white cliffs'. The sad thing is that Harcourt killed himself after it was found that he molested boys. If there was one town needing a name change, it's this one.[/s]

Igbuzor
For some reason, Igbuzor is still being spelt Ibusa, making it the most corrupted town name in Igbo land. Igbuzor is 'Igbo bi na uzor', the 'Igbo on the road, or roadside'.
stop the port harcount madness

it is not an igbo town angry

Gbawe:
Man mi , I apologise. It seems I misunderstand you . This is only because in other threads you seem to insinuate that the SW have lost out by kicking the ruling Party out.

As per the North, I think the region will be fine . The North is still very well represented as per ratio of political positions held . What is important is that the region gain leaders , bereft of overwhelming ego and vanity, who will put the people first.

Folks like IBB are always clamouring to rule yet one can ask what they do with their vast wealth for the majority 'talakawas when not in power.  folks like IBB, Atiku et al are always positioning themselves to be the voice of the North when they have never led by examples to show selfless devotion to the betterment of the lives of others. It is time the North begins to look at men like Col.Umar, Ribadu et al for leadership. The North must learn to get behind its refined and well-exposed men and women who don't need to promote the principles of painting other Nigerians as "enemies" and "infidels" to gain support. In short the North needs bridge builders and the article below highlights this:

http://www.osundefender.org/?p=15909
you are very right

people like ibb and ciroma have just mess everything up

Gbawe:
My brother , even with your mischief , I consider you a person on the side of all Nigerians . I think you mean well for all regions also because at different stages you have argued the corner of every region in Nigeria. To that extent I will urge you to bear with the SW and see where everyone is in 4 years. We have become disillusioned with the centre controlled by the PDP. That is not our fault because we see how some , their children, minions  and associates have stupendous wealth while the general population remains in abject poverty. Indeed we would be fools and 'Eran Iya' (glutton for punishment ) if we do not reject the inhuman leadership model of the PDP. The message seems to be that join us , the PDP, in ra.ping Nigeria or enjoy your poverty. We the folks of the SW reject that blackmail that is not cognisant of what we need to achieve , as a Nation, to faciliate progress and a continued existence that will not see us succumb to what has obtained in Tunisia and Egypt recently.

Things can work out two ways .

(1) The PDP can cut us out of important legislative position and embrace merit in appointing from its own Party . We are fine with that because leaders chosen via merit should , in theory , not be vengeful . I would expect them to work for the betterment of Nigeria. Even if not from the SW we would then expect those individuals chosen on merit to promote bills that move all of Nigeria forward. The SW still wins even if we are not in important legislative positions.

(2) The PDP can cut us out of important legislative positions and embrace its "business as usual" policies of appointing folks like Mark, Ekweremadu and Bankole to important legislative positions . We all know the histories of these men as folks who aggrandize themselves copiously  through direct corruption and via killing/watering down progressive bills so that them and their 'buddies' and "stakeholder" paymasters grow filthy rich while Nigerians remain dirt poor.

We all know it was Mark and Bankole , before Falana sued them, who attempted to change electoral laws so that the court no longer has the power to remove election riggers all in an effort to aid PDP control and dominance. It is David Mark who is working directly to water-down the FOI bill so it is a skeleton of its original conception that resembles what obtains Worldwide.

We also know it is Ekweremadu who called PIB protestors "charlatans" simply because those patriotic Nigerians wanted the expedited passage of a purist PIB bill. I think we all know the importance of the PIB and I think we all know the legislators , from a specific Party , who impede its expedited passage in a purist form. If Scenario 2 holds , then all the SW wins and the rest of Nigeria stagnates . It is as simple as that and Lagos bears this out with Chime, Ameachi and a few others paying homage to the principles that , while an insincere and rapacious centre exist that is not dedicated to progress, focus must remain on State progress as a viable alternative to move Nigeria forward while the FG continues to make itself an impediment to Nigeria's progress.

Either way , the SW wins.

When Sahara told y'all Yaradua's condition was terminal, and he was in a vegetative state, I didnt see anyone complaining.

I just watched a program on Al-Jazeera this morning (Listening Post) exposing all the newspapers in Nigeria and who they collect money from, and same program hailed Sahara as the only news network uninfluenced by chequebooks.
