EzeUche: I actually feel the Old East is coming back.
Look at how the Igbos are working with the SS minorities. We are actually championing their cause.
People need to realize the GEJ has united the East once again.
It feels great to be a GEJ supporter.
And finally someone who speaks the Igbo tongue is president. what east are u talking about brother i think it is either u do not know your history, politics or just plain drunk today the east has been seperated after the war and there is no coming back, get it in ur head now the east has over 20 languages, each total different from the other and with strong identity becareful of the rubbish u are saying here before anothe easterner puts u in your place brother |

THE AMAKA: this thread is disgusting. if GEJ is elected, what unity will take place? people will still be battling igbo vs yoruba till death. i believe the only way to really unite Nigeria and clean it of its tribal bigotry would be to elect someone that is going to move Nigeria FORWARD. the Nigerian people have been filled with misplaced hate and anger due to bad governance/poor leadership since the day Nigeria came into existence. why would anyone sit around for another 4 years of people dying preventable causes, no power, corrupt higher learning institutions, no jobs for graduates, more looting, more corruption? etc etc etc. IMO, thats all PDP stands for. they are good for nothing. Nigerians are too worried about zoning and who is what and who is going to vote for who and who can win which state based on religion/tribalism. SMH. i don't know who is the best candidate, but GEJ is def NOT the man for the job. put all that tribal crap aside because that will get Nigeria nowhere. all these people saying "we voted for our northern brother, yorubas voted for OBJ, easterns will vote for GEJ because he is from there" are dummies cause its all crap. all those people that were elected, what have they done for their own people since its their people that keep voting for them? NADA. majority of them still live in abject poverty and Nigeria as a whole. its funny that EzeUche is making all this noise, but he is nowhere in Nigeria. its easy for you because you come from the privledged in Nigeria and live here in America, so you dont suffer what the average Nigerian is suffering. as KoboJunkie rightfully pointed out, GEJ has had over a decade to improve the conditions of the people in the Niger Delta and he has done SQUAT. what makes you think he will do anything for his own people or Nigeria as a president? only fools will fall for such. come 2013 and Nigeria has made no steady improvements, i won't doubt there will be a movement like Egypt. thank you amaka |

ekt_bear: How does this go along with democracy? What if a majority of people do not think that minority is the best person for the job? They should vote for him. . . just because?
In other words, zoning (which GEJ sought to destroy)?
There is a fundamental inconsistency here. If GEJ believes that zoning is dead, then is the alternative not people choosing freely who they want to lead them?
You cannot have your cake and eat it. If you keep zoning intact, then the SS can rule again once it is their turn. If you destroy zoning, then it becomes a free for all. that was my views before |

Onlytruth: My point is that this election goes FAR beyond competence. It strikes at the base of our unity. Most folks here still don't see it.
Let's assume that Jonathan and Buhari are supported by their various sections of Nigeria; but Buhari has ruled before, and his section has ruled Nigeria for 38 years or so; why should Nigeria ignore someone from an area that never ruled before, and MAY NEVER rule again if he loses?
These questions are for those with brains, not oafs. onlytruth i do not like the way this discussion with u is going you are slowlly turning it to North and South sentiment which is not good what section are u talking about miltray government or democratic goverment? |

EzeUche: It is about time someone from the Niger Delta, become president. Only a Niger Deltan can fix the problems associated with that region, which is the most important issue that is plaguing Nigeria. Since the Niger Delta is the goose that laid the golden egg, it is only fitting, that a minority from that region produce the next president.
I am not an Ijaw, but I am in full support of GEJ, because I am optimistic that can solve the problems plaguing the region, more so than any other person running for president. ezeuche Niger Delta people have governors and elders that federal allocations are given to them monthly it has nothing to do with presidency look at lagos, is a yoruba man the president,.,. NO forget this ijaw sentiment brother, was goodluck not the governor at a time there. why didn't he do something about it or alams nkpo |

I see your points, and they are very valid! However, I'm thinking about Nigeria as a whole unit.
If GEJ get's less than 90% of the votes in Bayelsa state; then I would start seeing the points of those who want to hang him because he is in PDP. Nigeria is much more than PDP. As some of you know, I am a sworn APGA man, but I'm thinking about Nigeria, so APGA has to wait.
Can you Northerners do the same for Nigeria? That is my question. i liked ACN because of fashola but now i am support CPC because of Buhari that is the sacrifice i am willing to take for nigeria so yes we northerners can do the same |

I want Nigeria to work and that is what every right thinking Nigerian should want.Let the refineries really work, let the teachers really teach, let the police really secure, let everything be by merit, let's say no to bribery and corruption,no more sorting in schools,no more indiscriminate dumping of refuse, let us join the queue and wait our turn. All these are achievable only under one man. This is our chance to right all the wrongs of the past. What did your brother Yar adua achieve in 3 years? What did Shehu Shagari achieve in almost 5 years?
You think we don't remember these.
Jonathan is not even the president now, he is only serving out Yar adua's term, and inherited a lot of mess. He has been reshaping policy and actually did some work.
Obasanjo was complaining that 8 years wasn't enough for him.
You guys should speak the truth for once. yar'dua was ill for the better part of his tenure even as he was ill, he reduce MEND activities drastically he, saw to it that ribadu EFCC chariman was sacked because he was meant to arrest tinubu ole but he didn't he saw to it that people like ciroma, edwin and co shout thier mouths from national politics he also never made deals with ibb and co he was started the draining of river niger for igbo traders etc there are lot of projects he did but could not complete it because of the illness very sad indeed obj is a theif and an unserious man so i do not really care about him although he acheived some things and transformed nigeria for the better a bit. jonathan is using yaradua's term because he was the vice president and needs to complete his predecessors works for him no big deal in that i am talking about HIS own projects what has jonathan comissioned since he was in power |

[]Look, most of you northerners are fond of saying that you love Nigeria, but you refuse to make the necessary sacrifice to see the country stay one.
[]You have only been out of presidency for a few years, and you are threatening fire and brimestone and conducting endless meetings and conspiring against a man from a minority tribe in Eastern Nigeria whose only "crime" is to want to serve his country as president. And you don't see how his people feel about that?
Believe me, a lot of folks supporting Buhari are those want want Nigeria to break up -some do it knowingly, while some do it unknowingly. @ bolded onlytruth u surprised me u know so how many months does it take benin-ore road to be repair how many months does it take more turbines to be brought and replace the 2 that were destroyed during the war how many months does it take a president to repair the refineries remember he is not building it from scratch but repairing ittake a look at lagos and fashola, it took he just 2 weeks to transform oshodi market @ 2nd paragraph we are not fond of saying we love nigeria, WE ACTUALLY LOVE NIGERIA. Remember we voted for OBJ a yoruba man to be the president even though his people did not, and we can do the same for an igbo or ijaw man anytime. @3rd all that is ciroma's headache not us the masses, we never supported ciroma moreover his crime is not being a minority, remember i am also a minority in the north (kanuri) so it is not about minority or majority. that is the fact @4 break the county up because we support a man we belive would end corruption |

Can you help me understand why Nigeria's unity is threatened simply because the north has not tested presidency for a few years out of the 50 years of Nigeria's independence?
What about the East that has only tasted it now for just one year?
Who do you think would leave Nigeria in such scenario? Onlytruth, before jonathan i had supported an igbo president i really do not care if he is north or south, so long as he does well for the country whether south or north. I was part of the people that was telling people in my home state to not answer Ciroma because he sounded like a bigot I clearly understand that the world of nigeria does not revolve around the north. But jonathan has been there for 11 months now and yet is promises he dines with IBB , Ciroma ,OBJ and others while people like duke, and other progressives are there if the east produces a good candidate like ameche, why not ! i believe in Nigeria and i do not see north or south but nigeria i travel a lot infact i am in port harcount right now. soon i would be going to lagos so it was never about the north or east but about nigeria |
