Hello experts,
Good morning to you all. Can someone tell me how much is the cost to sink a borehole in Port Harcourt.
I was giving a qoute of 170k which covers drilling (120k) and submersible pump (50k). Is the quote right? Help me with you input.

Amazing savings with the mix of 1:3:4 with 45bags for a whole german(oversite concrete).
After a week delay per the road construction we resume back with speed as the German ends in less than 4hrs...men here are stronger than Lagos men lol
Hello Timtol, can you explain your 1:3:4 mix, was the sand and granite measured by wheelbarrow or headpan.

Thanks

Hello experts in the house, good morning to you all.
So I am building a 4 unit of 2 bedroom flats, 2 flats up and 2 flat down. The decking is completed and i am now planning to start the first floor block setting, I a bit to cut cost and not compromise quality, by engineer has requested not to do a complete lintel chaining on this first floor but I did a complete lintel chaining for the ground floor.
My question is, will not chaining all the lintel together on the first floor affect the structure or load bearing capability of the building?
Please your input will be much appreciated.

Aventures:
If I get you right, what you are doing presently is the decking of your two flats of 2 bedroom. If that is the case, then 312 bags if cement in overall is a bit on the high side. The mix ratio he is using in a more reasonable term is 1:4:6 which is poor for decking. The common minimum standard is 1:2:4(1 headpan of cement to 2 of sand and 3 of granite) also from your statement it seems the guy is using hand mixing and lastly why is he casting in bits.
Well the possiblity of doing everything in one day is not feasible, so he did the beams first and then did the slab after a day because because of shortage of cement and granite. I am concerned if the mixture ratio is poor for the decking.

Thanks alot. Spent about #3,550,000 in an Approximately 275 sqm slab and 18" deep beams

Thanks.
Thanks for the reply. How much would you say you have spent from the foundation to the finishing of the first floor slab. I think we have almost same square meter of area.

Experts in the house,
Please I need help and advice here. Here is my situation. I am in diaspora building a block of 2 bedroom flats, 2 down and 2 up
So am currently on the beam and first floor slab of my 4 units of 2 bedroom flats in port Harcourt. At this point the engineer has used 226 bags of cement to do the staircase, beams and one of the two flats on the ground floor, the other flat will be done today which I think may take another 90 bags of cement, so in total I am looking at around 312 bags of cement. My worry is that is that I think so much bags of cement has gone into the slab and beam. The mix ratio he is using is 1:2:3 according to him. I bag of cement, 2 wheelbarrow of sand and 3 wheelbarrow of granite. Is this acceptable, what your advice. The area of slab is 288m2 and I have currently spent up to 3.6 million naira.

I don’t know the size of your building really.. am doing a project in Awka at the moment prices of 20mm high quality pipes here is 8000naira per bundle and we have 45pieces in a bundle... 25mm goes for same price but with 40 pieces in a bundle...

And why do they want to buy dB now? Considering u just want to deck? That should be after roofing...
Thank you Twinskenny for your response. I really don't even understand why they want the DB right now, am not planning to buy it now anyways. I will do more findings on the prices in port harcourt.

thank you for the response, he wants to charge 250k but i told him 180k was the last am going to pay, now am seeing that the 180k is even too much from what you have just mentioned. he gave me a quote for the rods, 100 pieces for 16mm rod, 290 pieces for 12mm rod and 70 pieces for 8mm rod, 3 rolls of binding wire and 250k workmanship.

What kind of talk is this?

"To YOU" it is not expensive.
"To YOU" it is normal price.

When did "YOU" become a yardstick for judging what is normal or expensive or a benchmark?

and then you negated yourself by saying some charge more, some same or some less?
What exactly are you trying to say? If you have nothing to say about a question, you can just skip it.

If you want to benchmark price, you would use the price of contractors in that field, NOT YOUR PERSONAL FEELINGS.
I am sure you ended up confusing the @Op the more.

BTW: How much a Supervisor will charge will largely depend on the extent of the project.
A Bungalow Project's foundation to german floor, is not the same as that of a two stroey building Foundation to german floor.
Also, the nature of the soil of the place is a factor because foundation in a swamp is not the same as foundation in a highland / Red soil area.
Finally size of Project (land area covered by the foundation) is also a factor.

Despite all the above, the Supervisor is to stand around and make sure things are done properly. H is not the Builder naah?
200K maximum, irrespective of above factors, should be enough for supervision of blockwork to Lintel level.
100K for Block work (assuming 2weeks)
75K to 100Kmax for Lintel and Slab
Thank you very much for making it clear to me. i really appreciate

Hello Engineers and contractors,
please can someone tell me how much should an engineer/architect charge for supervising my building project. my engineer is asking for 300k to supervise from ground floor block setting to first floor slab (slab included). he charged me 300k from foundation to german floor which i think was even too much. please what's the best charge for the next phase in your honest opinion.
