Party (PDP) has accused the military of
rigging the rerun governorship election in
Southern Ijaw local government area of
Bayelsa State for the All Progressives
Congress (APC).
The governorship election in the local
government, was last Saturday, rescheduled
to Sunday by the Independent National
Electoral Commission (INEC) over security
concerns.
However, as the election got underway
yesterday, the PDP claimed that a Major,
which it did not name, was behind a rigging
process for the APC, noting that the military
officer has handed most of the sensitive
materials to APC agents to fill and return as
results in the evening.
The statement by PDP national publicity
secretary, Olisa Metuh, read in part “hereby
alerts all concerned that the APC and the
military have connived to rig the elections in
Southern Ijaw local government area of
Bayelsa State.
“This rigging is being coordinated by the
same Army Major who supervised the
killings yesterday. The Major has handed
most of the sensitive materials to APC
agents to fill and return as results in the
evening.
“Southern Ijaw local government area is the
largest in the state and the APC wants to
use this scheme to inflate result figures in
favour of their candidate.”

President Muhammadu Buhari will be in South Africa , Thursday to participate in the Forum on China/Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) taking place in Johannesburg, December 4-5, 2015.At this forum President Buhari will follow up his meeting with the Chinese leader Xi Jinping which took place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meeting in November in New York.
President Buhari had indicated to Xi Jinping, the Chinese leader at the bilateral meeting in New York that he wanted China to re-commence stalled rail projects under new terms that would see China providing nearly all the financing required.

Of particular interest is the coastal railway project stretching for 1402 kilometers linking Lagos in the West with Calabar in the East; a project that is expected to be financed with 12 billion U.S Dollars Chinese loan and which will create about 200,000 jobs.

Another rail project that will be up for renegotiation is the $8.3bn Lagos-Kano standard gauge modernization project, of which only a segment, Kaduna-Abuja has reached completion stage.
President Buhari is also expected to discuss ways of removing all obstacles in the way of the 3,050 MW Mambila Power Station, considered a strategic project which was conceived in 1982 but has not taken off.

The Chinese President had informed President Buhari of thewillingness of his country to finance the whole project through a special loan agreement.

The President, who will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema; Minister of Transportation, Chubuike Amaechi; and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah, will return to Abuja on Saturday, December 5.

The stage is set for the annual Akwa Ibom State Government Carols festival, slated for Saturday, December 19 at the Uyo Township Stadium, Uyo.
Disclosing activities lined up for the 2015 edition of the carol, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah indicated that the event, which affords the Christian community a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Christmas in a special way, has become a major source of spiritual tourism to Akwa Ibom.
According to him, "people from all walks of life, from within and outside the State, and Christians across denominational lines will gather and share the joy of Christmas by singing praises to the Almighty God."
He emphasised that the Christian gathering  will help  strengthen the bond of unity in the State as well as,  create  conducive ambience for spiritual growth and peaceful co-existence amongst groups in the State and beyond , in an evening of praise and worship.
The Information Commissioner, who mentioned that the Carol promises to be unique, in line with the Dakkada philosophy of Governor Udom Emmanuel, said participants should expect to be spiritually charged and lifted as much as they would be thrilled by the calibre of gospel music artistes and clergymen billed for the event.
Mr. Umanah said while the General Overseer of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission, TREM, Bishop Mike Okonkwo will minister the word of God, International gospel music icons like Donnie Mcclurkin, Shirley Caesar, Angella Christie and Chevelle Franklyn will minister in music at the event, which will be live on major national and international television networks.
Also scheduled to perform at the international gathering are Asu Ekiye, Sammy Okposo, Freke Umoh, Lara George, Aity Dennis Inyang, Chinelo Dillimono alongside the young Saxophonist, David Eka and Don Tom.
In addition to the individual appearances, there will also be performances by the Voices of Barbados, Promised Land Chorale and Akwa Ibom State Government Choir.
Previous editions of the Akwa Ibom State Carols have hosted international Christian leaders, including the Catholic Archbishop of Calabar, Archbishop Joseph Ekuwem; Archbishop Rt. Rev. Christian Ekong of the Lutheran Church; the General Overseer of Deeper Life  Bible Church, Pastor William Kumuyi; that of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye; the Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church, Dr David Oyedepo; and the Metropolitan Arcbishop of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan.

APC PRIMARY: UDOEDEGHE’S APPLICATION HAS BEEN ACCEPTED

Our attention has been drawn to a release signed by a certain Iboro Otongaran, who claims to be the Director, Media and Publicity of the Umana Umana Campaign Organization. Our party pooh-poohs such blatant denial and falsehood spread by the Umana media syndicate to hoodwink the loyal faithful of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State.

First, we wish to categorically clear the air that the application by our principal and leader of the APC in Akwa Ibom State, Senator John James Akpanudoedeghe has been accepted by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja. 

Hon Justice E.S Chukwu was present in court as proceedings of the day were carried out. Shamelessly, Mr Otongaran said in his release that “though Udoedeghe’s attempt to relist his dismissed application was to come up yesterday, 23 November at Federal High Court 8 in Abuja, the court did not sit because judges were attending a national conference at the Federal Capital Territory”. It is the plan of Mr Umana to shield the true situation concerning this case from the knowledge of the party faithful. But for how long shall this grand deception continue? 

I do not know if Mr Otongaran had a previous background in stand-up comedy but as a party, we wish to warn him that this is a serious case and does not call for this sort of childish lies and propaganda.

We urge our passionate supporters who have endured the storms since 2011 when Umana and the latter-day saints were in the PDP perpetuating unthinkable havoc on the members of our party and the good people of Akwa Ibom State, to disregard his cock and bull lies. We are optimistic of the progress of our case and we know that our leader, Senator Udoedeghe will come out victorious.

We encourage our party faithful to ignore the misleading releases from Mr Iboro Otongaran, Engr Ita Awak and other hired mercenaries who are out to misinform the public.
