Politics / Re: Abia State Secures $1.5B Deal From China Shoe Factory by Allwility: 12:06am On Apr 17, 2017
I'm amazed at the level of reasoning here. I want to believe people still have the ability to comprehend and analyze simple information.

FYI:

1. This deal, if it pulls through, would be a major FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) for the state. Like any FDI, the bigger share of the profits would be repatriated home but hey, if you have a problem with that why haven't you yourself invested in something like this all this while? We need more of this kind of investment.

2. The shoes produced would be for export. That's a source of revenue for our economy. 5000 shoes per day for export is not beans!! Do you know how much the country stands to make from this alone?

3. 10,000 people off the streets and unemployment market is not such a bad idea.

4. It would help open up the hide and skin industry in Kano as they would seek to source their raw materials locally.

5. A project valued at $1.5B is a lifeline for any economy. Why do you think Trump has been clamouring for returning jobs to the US and slamming 45% tariffs on Chinese products?

Seriously, this deal is much better than hiding money in forests, burial grounds, towers and all those other bad bad places.

Good one OVI.

OP don't mind those calling you childish. They are entitled to their opinion anyways. Which parent no wan born genius?
But I feel you should tone down your expectations so you don't give LO too much pressure. Keep guiding LO and make him/her understand that it's not all about coming first in class but understanding the subjects that matter.

Can a risk assesment prevent an accident when more than 90% of accident occurs frm behavioural patterns of workers, always wanting to take shortcuts and bypass procedures in other to meet yp with thier priority.... Have u ever asked yourself why the best safety companys o the world with all risk assessment said and done atill record accidents......

So men safety has gone past risk assessment and what not.... Dats for nebosh exams and the rest... In the real world, its different... Work with reality my broda
Yes, IMO risk assessment prevent accidents. Assessing risks thoroughly provides a rational basis for safe practices and behaviour. No it's not NEBOSH lol...it's real time experience. It's human to want to take short cuts. It's my duty to prevent you from taking it. For instance, how can one bypass a lock out tag out system or PTW system designed in such a way it stops accident even before they occur?

My brother lets them know... The bird is wise and always take safety precautions following SOP... They arent like human biengs...... Some human biengs behave lesser than goats, like when a linesman go on a high voltage ⚡ witout standard insulated gloves, forgetting the ladder hes on is a path to the ground.... Seens alot of them roast when there a current flow..... I just do the investigation and forget to give them a minute silence
Mbok, we owe our people a duty to protect them not just reactively but also proactively. So biko do all you can to protect them.. I think a comprehensive risk assessment before the job is far better than an incident investigation or minute silence.
My two cents o grin

does it mean I can jump and old a naked wire without being electrocuted?
Oh yes, you could still get electrocuted if the conditions are right. You see for electric current to flow, it needs a medium. This medium need not be a solid medium. An ionized gas can still serve as a medium. At high voltages, gases ionize and can serve as a veritable conductor.

i understand ur theory same tin apply to human
Oh it sure does apply to humans. In HSE, you are taught that if there's live voltage on the floor, you don't walk across the floor else you create a potential difference and get an electric shock. You hop like a bird to safety.

I think that's because both claws perch close enough on the same wire so there's no potential difference. No potential difference means no flow of electrons and so no electric current.
However, if a part of the bird touches a second wire, the circuit becomes complete and electrocution occurs.

I haven't heard any cogent reason why the Peace Corp shouldn't be allowed to exist..or even the merchant navy..other than that there are too many paramilitary organizations in Nigeria. Maybe we should start by curbing the Boys Scout, or girls guide, or even the brownies.
Yes and there's the Man' O War. When last did they function anyway?? #JustAsking.

If the Abians can give us better service kits at a competitive price, then I feel we should outsource the production to them. NYSC's garment factories at Minna and Anambra are known for producing substandard kits.

See Moroco, See Spain.

UPDATE:
To those asking if I'm an Edo man, grin No I'm not. But seriously, here's what we need to know. Morocco is doing all within its powers to prevent Western Sahara gaining independence. For years, they've been seeking international support esp from developing nations and the UN.

The Wild Card: Bubu declared support for the Saharawiis gaining independence. This implies they might be welcomed to join ECOWAS as the Northern Alliance would definitely not recognize them because of Morroco. The Moroccans just deal the Saharawiis an upper cut.

There you have it, it's International Politics.

Career / Re: Kindly Advise Me On The Behaviour Of My Managing Director by Allwility: 7:33am On Jan 23, 2017
It is obvious your MD doesn't want you guys to resign because doing so would mean losing the expertise required to complete the client's job. By the way, he can't do jack if you go ahead to resign.

Having said that, I am amazed at the level of insults and abuses prevailing at work environments. A teammate of mine, a girl barely above nineteen, would always say to the team: "If you do what you ought to do nobody would talk to you anyhow". In light of this, did you and your teammates do what you were supposed to do? Did you request for the necessary work tools and wasnt given? As the assistant boss, why didn't you motivate the team? How about planning? Did you plan properly before embarking on your task?

Do the right things at the right time and no one would insult or abuse you or your teammate's at work.

By the way once the job is completed, I expect your MD to fire some people and if possibly re-train the others.
