Dafe20: He needs no introduction at all. Cyril Stober, an ace newscaster on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) has been around for decades, pursuing his passion in his chosen career, broadcasting.
Before the advent of private stations in Nigeria, listening to the NTA news at 9 everyday was always a wonderful moment for many families in Nigeria.
Watching Frank Olize, Hon. Abike Dabiri on NTA Newslines and all the stories of what was happening around the country was amazing. Saturday mornings were also magical with the likes of late Yinka Craig on Morning Ride.
Watching Sienne All Well Brown, Ruth Benemesia Opia, John Momoh and the late Tokunbo Ajayi on NTA news was so intriguing.
Everybody admired the authority and eloquence with which they delivered the news. He's anchored several editions of NTA news and other programmes for years. Let's hear your wishes for him. Congrats, Congratulations Sir Cyril Stober! cuteprinz

My op @fellowbeing, consider the God factor first who instituted life and as such, you are not the owner of your life. Therefore, if you take your own life, God will ask you for his property(your life) you've cut short.
Now to a practical life story of a fellow Unilorite who passed through the same situation as you.I gained admission in 2006 and studied Physics Education only to graduate in 2011 as against 2010.While i was in 200 level that i thought i had the best grades, unfortunately, Faculty of Education stopped declared some of my courses missing, some Eduacation courses. While looking for those courses one time, my HOD gave me a note to one of the lecturers concerned, when i got to him, i told him am looking for my so so and so course, he replied, do you want me to stand up and be looking for those courses?.I made up my mind i will need an extra year. When i got to 400 level, some Cbt couses i did, it was the kind hearted Faculty Officer who i have become accustomed to that helped me to obtain them. After an extra year, i finally finished.Having been sick all through my 300 level up to 400 level, some of the resit i did in Physics since they were elective, having been told to come today come tomorrow for the resits, i made up my mind that since they were electives i would not read them again and will just write whatever they presented in the resit.I had an option to ask from my fellow colleagues for the script so as to prepare for the resits adequately, but i did not. When the resits came up, i failed them without test and only exams.I thought everything was ok now that i was able to gather my results with the level adviser, but to my greatest surprise, when my colleagues were going for service, i was not mobilized.I had to wait till 2012 instead of 2011 for NYSC.My brother, am as bitter as anything if you will ask me.Even now, what am going through it has been Jesus who has been my succour. My brother-Job 14vs7 says 'there is hope for a tree if it be cut down, if its stump is dead in the earth, at the saint of water, it shall bud up.Also Job14vs14 says 'If a man dies, shall he live again, all the days of my appointed time will i wait, till my change come.My Brother,Those bones which were dry in Ezekiel37 came to life by the word of God.My final charge is that wait for the salvation of the Lord. |

What you need first is to believe in Jesus and renew your minds with the word of God.That Alfa story is a false prophet.Acts2vs38 believe in the Lord God and thou shall be saved thou and thy house that is what you need.Without repentance, there is no salvation.Acts4vs12-There is no salvation in no one else, there is no name given among men by which we must be saved except the name-Christ Jesus. After you are converted, renew your mind with the scriptures...Read Numbers 23vs23-There is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there divination against Isreal:..ISAIAH54vs17-No weapon fashioned againt me shall prosper and every tongue that rises against me shall prosper.Arm yourselves with the word of God.Do you know a version of the bible has a translation of a verse in Proverbs as ;Your education is your life.Remember above all the bible says...God cannot fail.if the God of the bible cannot fail, you as a Christian cannot fail. |

Christianity Etc › Re: How To Become A True Disciple Of Jesus Christ by alolatee(m): 10:41pm On May 29, 2015 |
agwom: What do we mean by a true disciple of Jesus Christ? This is the question that needs to be answered before we can deliberate on how to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ. This is what we have been called to be. Jesus commanded His followers to go to all nations and teach people to observe all He had commanded them to do. He promised to be with them until the end of the age.
True disciple of Jesus Christ defined
A disciple is a follower or learner. So true disciple of the Lord is one who follows and a learns from Him. Such a person is committed to the ways of God. We have been called to be followers of Jesus Christ. Anyone can become a true disciple of Jesus. It is a matter of taking a decision to make Jesus Lord over one's life. Now, let us look at the marks of such a disciple:
1. Jesus must be first in your life
In Luke 9:23, Jesus tells us that anyone who follow him must deny himself and take up his cross and follow him. Many things compete in our lives. They all need our attention and our time. Many things compete in our lives, they need our attention What is obvious is that we cannot do all the things we want to do, so we need to make choices. So if you want to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ, He must be first in your life.
2. Become a living sacrifice
You must become a living sacrifice if you want to be a true disciple of Jesus. Romans 12:1 encourages believers to present their bodies a living sacrifice that is acceptable to God. In other words one needs to offer himself to the Lord. God does not force anybody to serve Him and that is why the apostle Paul begged the Romans. Be available for God's use. The Lord wants to win more people into His Kingdom, so He needs you. Train yourself to obey Him.
3. Abide in the Word
In John 8:31, Jesus told the Jews who had believed Him that if they would abide in His word, they would be His true disciples. So a true disciple of Jesus keeps His word. He is not only a hearer but a doer of the word. God knows what is right for you. Therefore, obey Him. Make His word the standard of your life.
4. Watch and pray
Jesus would depart from His followers and go to solitary places to pray. He had an assignment to carry out on earth, So He needed God the Father. He gave you an assignment as well. So you need to also watch and pray to be His true disciple. Receive direction from the Lord as you watch and pray.
5. Fellowship with the church
The writer of the letter to the Hebrews reminded believers not to forsake the habit of assembling together. A true disciple of Jesus Christ sees the value of contributing to and receiving from fellowship with other believers.
6. Witness for Jesus Christ
The Apostle Paul said he was not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ because it was the power of God to salvation to everyone who believes. Once you have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord over your life, help others to become believers. Propagating the Gospel is a mandate of believers. So a true disciple of Jesus Christ will witness for the Lord.
The Lord commissioned us as believers. Becoming a true disciple of Jesus is our call. Be a follower and a learner of Jesus. Be true to Him. Let the marks that I have highlighted be evident in your life. Make Christ be the first in your life. Be a living sacrifice. Be a doer of the word and pray to God. Keep fellowshipping with other believers and also witness for the Lord. Having done all these things, you shall meet the Lord when He comes back. also this;By this shall all men know you are my disciples indeed-If you love one another, also if you do whatsoever i command you(Obedience) |

Saorchy: As the curtains draw to a close on the outgoing Goodluck Jonathan government, some analysts will focus on the ministers that have not been outstanding and whose non-performance affected the president’s ratings.
Naij.com brings you a list of 5 ministers, whose contributions to the present administration have not been any where encouraging.
Read below:
1. Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala: As the coordinating Minister of the Economy and the Minister of Finance, the buck obviously stops on the table of this well-learned World Bank trained economist. But has she delivered? The answer is a big NO! Okonjo-Iweala’s first stint as a Minister under the Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration was a blessing to Nigeria. But her second stint under Jonathan has been nothing but disastrous. Apparently bugged down by the hawks around her, Okojo-Iweala’s thesis couldn’t stand the test of a strict scrutiny which calls into question her credentials as a financial expert.
2. Mrs. Dieziani Alison-Madueke: The former Executive Director of Shell actually started on a bright note in the petroleum ministry. Just like Okonjo-Iweala, there is every possibility that Alison-Madueke was at some point overwhelmed by the powerful cabal in the industry. An unalloyed ally of the President, She stepped on big toes when she assumed office, but later fell for the traps the same people she stepped on set for her. She became arrogant, and carried on as if she was untouchable. She lost focus after too many accusations and counter-accusations with the opposition and got distracted too many times. The alleged missing $20billion is one issue that will continue to hang over her neck.
3. Senator Bala Mohammed: Majority of the residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will be glad to see Senator Mohammed leave the helm of affairs of Nigeria’s capital next week. Since he assumed office, frequent complaints by the residents have been the order of the day. Many believe Senator Mohammed do not deserve the position because of his background as a typical politician. Given that proven technocrats like Kaduna State governor-elect, Nasir El-Rufai has been in the position in the past, it is widely believed among the locals that the Minister’s appointment was a draw back to the FCT. One thing is clear, he has not performed. The hurried last minute projects are a testament to the fact that he is just in a hurry to prove a point to a diversified residents that has already dismissed his dismal performance long ago.
4. General Aliyu Gusau: The absentee Minister. His appointment is no doubt a grave mistake my Jonathan. Whether it is his age, or he has run out of ideas or simply not interested, one cannot tell. But he has proven overtime to be incompetent, not reliable and a waste of space. His appointment by Jonathan was politically expedient as the President was looking for every means to gain the support of the north as the elections approached. Perhaps, he knows the circumstances in which he was appointed and felt he didn’t owe Nigeria an obligation to serve diligently. Having being in the corridors of power for over two decades, it is quite surprising that what could be his last outing in governance was a complete disaster.
5. Comrade Abba Moro: How he remained a minister after the immigration debacle remains a mystery. Moro is one man who prefers to dance to the tune of his political masters than to serve his nation without fear or favour. Even when he erred, he refused to apologise but he had every excuse in the world to exonerate himself from a case that was clearly his fault. The Benue-born minister presided over a failed exercise that till this day remains a dent on the image of the Jonathan’s administration. Many Nigerians will no doubt be happy to see the back of this man.
Source: http://www.naij.com/443617-5-gej-ministers-that-didnt-live-up-to-expectations.html Op, how about the minister of Science and Technology who has put no satelite in orbit unlike the Obasanjo era...or even the minister of information who refused to make Digitization to work thereby postponing it by 18months.Those ministers are abysmal to me.what do u think? |

PastorAIO: I appreciate that. However, can demons be happy? while there seems to be no scriptural basis to suggest demons are happy but i use a contrast to what happens when a sinner is saved in heaven-Joy galore by God and HIS ANGELS.Definitely when the devil succeds in winning souls to his side he is happy he had achieved his work or assignment.Whatever God is, the devil is opposite. As is a usal sermon by men of God, Satan is not after people he had taken captive, he is after people who are still standing in Christ, knowing that those he has captured are already in his net.The bible says of the slave Girl who Paul cast out demons, his employers earned great income from his socery. Those who are wicked the Psalmist says they say Aha, Aha i have gotten him.All places Jesus casted out demons, the demons when they speak seem to suggest we are happy and comfortable with our host leave us here.I do not mean to pursue my line of arguement that demons are happy, but i just want to tell you, they are happy a child of God has lost Jesus. |

PastorAIO: That's sad.
On what grounds?
It makes sense that it would baffle you.
How so?
That's just pathetic.
Can demons be happy?
How do you know that? Paul in Romans11 said he will that i become accursed for my people Isreal.I must admit my faith has not grown to this point.Indeed the scriptures through Jesus also says this; John15vs13-Greater love has no man than this; that a man should lay down his life for his friend.I believe Paul's words when he said this tallied with the above thoughts of Jesus which is to mean do all within your power to make your generation believe in Jesus.Including fasting and prayers regularly for them.Sparing your time in speaking about the message of the cross in your convenient and inconvenient times. One thing i can assure you of, is to constantly pray for you that the eyes of your understanding may be open and the life of Jesus be reproduced in you as at before.I do wish to always continue to converse with you on anything religion which is my most active area on Nairaland. You can check my profile to attest to this. Thanks Mr Joseph1013. |

Orijin101: During our Sunday school service in church today, this question was being asked by one of our members and it leads to a serious argument. So, I've decided to share the same question with you guys also.
Is it possible to change God's will through prayer?
your opinions are highly welcome. cc: lalasticlala .... No because Nobody can change the mind of God.But through prayers again,Hezekiah obtained mercy when he was told he will die, he prayed and God added 15 more years to his years. You cannot change God's will but through prayers one can obtain mercy.Another point in case was when God told Moses he will destroy Isreal and raise a generation in Moses. But Moses prayed and he obtained mercy. So i conclude, No you can't change the will of God, you can only obtain mercy with God. |

joseph1013: Hmmm...I wont lie if I say I'm getting a lil bit exasperated. I asked a simple question and you go about rambling.
I categorically asked you not to quote to me from the Bible why the Bible and what it claims are true. What you're doing is called circular argument. It's like saying, Pa Obasanjo is Femi's father. And the person says that he knows this because Femi said so. That's not a good argument. Claims have to be verifiable by third parties.
Let me help you out a bit. The Bible as you know it is not what you think it is. It is the creation of the council of Nicea. I urge you to read up on it. Roman Emperor Constantine the Great was the one who was responsible for the Bible you took to Church today. The original manuscripts cant be found again so there is no way to know for sure how real it is. There are so many errors therein that it cannot be called the infallible word of God.
Answer the questions I asked you. Ask me questions about the Bible and Christianity and let's trash this out. There is really no need repetition the rhetorics. Please! @Mr Joseph1013, there is no way i can talk without talking of the bible. One thing i will advise you to do is to plead with you to accept the bible as the word of God.Somebody who have risen to the enviable position of being a president of a student fellowship and suddenly become apostate is baffling for me.I quote the bible because that is my life.I can't do anything outside the word.i live by the word of God and my sincere hope is to obey it to the latter.Do you know the devil has suggested to you to doubt the word and his demons are happy you are challenging the authority of the word? It is sad.I pray for a turning point for you and those who are kicking against the pricks as you do.There is no light in Islam, Budhism or any of those false religions.Jesus only holds the key to the light-John14vs6-I am the way the truth and the Life.No one comes to the father except by me.I have no better or superior arguement for the bible outside of the God of the word-The Lord Jesus.Am happy because the bible says if one falls into error(in this case a believer) and one converts him....so somebody who had believed and practised Christianity or followed Christ like you did can still come back through the grace of God.That is what i pray to God for you...not the rather part of the bible that says there is no other sacrifice that can be paid if one who had being lightend if he falls. Thanks for a time to re-Access our beliefs in Christ. |

joseph1013: Did you say the talk of miracles show Christianity to be true? Like I keep saying, you need to explore more and keep talking rhetorics. Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and a great deal of other minor religions of the world believe in miracles. It baffles me how you would monopolize miracles. Please, just do a simple google search.
As pertaining to your personal example, I understand. Personal experience could invoke emotions that make us take feelings over logic. But see, your situation is not unique. Cases of the kind of experience you described is common everywhere else. For instance, in the recent earthquake that happened in Nepal, a Baby was pulled from Nepal earthquake rubble after 22 hours. Hinduism and Buddhism are the predominant religions in Nepal. The child could grow up and attribute that 'miracle' to either of the two. Does it mean either of the two is right? No!
What saved you was not God. What saved you is Science. You went to the hospital. Why didnt your parents ask you to stay at home and invite pastors to pray? Several christians have been killed through ringworm. That should cause you to think.
Be open-minded. In your answers, you have failed to answer my questions.
So with what I have educated you on, you should consider the following:
Do you know that if Islam is the way to God, you will burn in hell? Are you willing to gamble with that?
The China question came up because I wanted to open your mind to the possibility that you could actually have been a Christian because you were born into a Christian home? How sure are you that if you were born a muslim you would have converted? What is the percentage of people that have done that compared to those who didnt?
Have you for once considered this question: What if Christianity is wrong? Will you still continue to live the lie?
Let me ask you: why do you think the Bible is the Word of God apart from the fact that the Bible said so? Day unto day uttereth knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard. My brother, this speaks of nature and the created things. The world cannot exist alone apart without something or somebody pulling the strings.Nature tells me there is a God and he is Jesus. Moreover, the bible for all its accuracy cannot be left out of any discussion about God.God said it, i believe it, that settles it.I don't believe the bible or Jesus because i read about him only, i believe in the bible and in Jesus because He is true that said 'For God so loved the world that he gave(How many of those religionists you mentioned gave themselves or their children or relation to save the world) his only begotten son(Jesus) that whosoever believe in him(God will not force himself on people like those religions u mentioned force their beliefs on people) should not perish(the will of God for mankind is that they would not loose their soul in hell that is why he gave his son -Jesus) but have everlasting life(There is a heaven to gain and an earth to loose for every believer). You don't need to know all the bible which is works to be accepted to heaven but the basic thing is to believe the God of the bible and not doubt his salvation. In Christ, we don't need the seven books of Moses. In christ we pray always more of a lifestyle not a compulsory prayer time and restricted to certain no of prayer time per day.We don't need to worship the created thing such as cow or an animal or the created thing:No! We worship the creator rather. |

To the debate as to whether Christianity is the true religion, i use the socratic method of teaching to answer you. Do you believe in miracles? How many religionist of the so-called religions you were mentioning ever performed or was used of their God to do miralces. The answer is definitely no.I believe in miracles which Jesus wrought in the bible as well as those God enabled ministers are doing.I am a living witness of miracles. While growing up, between 5-7 i had a ringworm which defied all care.My father applied some acid since that was the norm then on the spot.It ate up the skin in the center of my brain. It almost sank and i spent some time going to the hospital for check up.Had the acid touched my brain i would have been another mad person on the street.Up to that time and now turning a young adult, God miraculousely made me whole although no hair grew in that spot save for some, it was a miracle that i survived.Being alive is a miracle which God(Jesus) can only do.My brother, if Baal be baal, follow him.Why waiver between two opinions.Let the God that perform miracles be the true God.I rest my case, Jesus is Lord.No one can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. |

Good. It is not difficult to prove why a chair will hold your body together. It's secondary school physics. The proof is there for all to see. Apart from the Bible, which has been proven to be inaccurate whose original manuscripts cannot be found, how do you prove to me that Christianity is the one true religion.
I asked you a question that you didnt answer. I will ask again: Have you considered Islam? What if Islam is the true religion? Does that imply you've wasted eternity? Have you consider Hinduism? Buddhism? Can you say with assurances that you will be a Christian if you were born in China?
Please, no rhetorics. Just answer the questions? My brother, Titus2vs1-11. Mostly the part that states the grace of God that bringeth salvation has appeared unto all men it went further to say that it teaches us to abstain from all ungodliness, wordly lusts and to live righteously, soberly in this world. My brother, in creation the nature of God is seen by all, the universe and the galaxies are all wonders for us to see.Do you know in the generation of Enoch, it was only him so was in the generation of NOAH only him was adjudged to have pleased God.Do you want to tell me there are no Christians in China or India or Pakistan or Saudi Arabia? My brother, be concerned about yourself first and get it right first, then you can have burden for the 'Iron Curtains' of the world.People were saved by this same grace that bringeth salvation so why won't i if i was a national of those nations. It is God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above what i can ever ask or think or could imagine.Receive grace for grace to turn from apostasy unto the God who we must to do and who will judge all men...Lastly, to them that call on him he will come the second time not unto sin but unto Salvation(eternal life) |

Your analogy with football holds no water at all. my analogy is very true and relevant.....bro....i come with another...Do you inspect your cushion chair at home before sitting on it or consider whether its weight will carry you?You just sit i want to agree with you without burdering. My friend about other man made religion, apary from christianity (which is God coming to man to save him).Other religion represents man's desire to meet with God.I conclude-Acts4vs12-There is no other way given among men by which we must be saved, except the name Jesus, I add.Don't be apostate:Heaven is real;Hell is likewise real. You are too precious to God to be lost in Hell. |

joseph1013: Bros, your analogy is very laughable. Football goals have replays. There are tens of thousands of eye witnesses. So how does it compare with the existence of God? Where is your proof?
Were you born into a christian family? I still insist on 'Live' football matches which you must have fallen in love with.Goals are scored and when you are on set you do not doubt if the goals were scored or stage managed.Yes i am born into a christian home and am born again by the grace of God.No one who is a real christian believes the bible by seeing signs or convicted through a supernatural event before he believes.Come to the bible believing bro stop doubting. Doubt the hurting aspects like sicknesses, diseases, failure as not for Christians but not the universality of the Word of God, the Holy Spirit and the Father.believe the truth of the bible...2Timothy3vs16...2Peter1vs18-20...accept what it says blessed are you if you believe without having seen Jesus. |

malvisguy212: all of these events happened before the law was given. According to the Apostle Paul, when there is no law, there can be no violation of the law or sin. So, since the law against incest was not given until thousands of years later, there was no theological problem with Cain marrying his sister.however,God is all knowing so he know what cain did was wrong, like I say earlier God caused to him may have lead to this.
You are free to choose to love God or hate him, it your choice.thank you. well said sir. Those who died without the law Romans chapter 2 tells us 12-16 will be judged without the law.Their consciences will be their judge. Also, Mr Joseph, i appeal to you to retrace your step back to God.Not all things that contradict the God of the bible you question-All scripture is written under the inspiration of God...2timothy 3vs16...somewhere in the book of Peter also says Holy men of old were moved to write...No scripture is of any private interpretation...My brother, if you believe a goal is scored why watching the Football, while youare not present where it is being played, i see no reason why you should not believe in God and return back to him...I was in your shoes for believing wrongly momentarily believing speaking in tongues can be taught against what i had believed for all that was right concerning that. When i slipped, it was God who helped me o to recover from whence i have fallen.please change This is what i said in the sports section @Joseph1013. |

HumanPsycho: Your question, as to wheather he created animals male and female? The answer is Yes. For diversity and recreation. It is important that you note that God intended to create Man as male alone, unlike other animals where He added female factors, but he thought it would not be good for the man who is of higher thinking to be alone, so he created the woman. Note that in Genesis, God had the knowledge of a woman all along, he only thought he could create man alone since there is no female factor to his divinity, remember man was created first in his likeness, but seeing the fragility of the man He created woman for companionship as primary aim (this became sole problem of humanity till date). God was and Is perfect alone. Read Genesis1 and 2 properly and you will observe God specifically in Genesis 2vs20 that none of the created thing expecially animals was a perfect companion for man. |

onomeglo: lolz if na bible,we av it in abundant, hmmm am talking abt d lack of zeal or spirit of not going to church My Brother, i was in ur shoes some years back when certain things made me loose interest in church and i started comparing myself with other non-believers-people i was better than spiritually. When i started to go to church again, i lost interest in everything and the church became so boring to me.Now i know better it was the devil waiting to see me in hell.I would advise u to surrender your all to Christ as Lord and Saviour and obey your parents by going to a bible believing church.Do this i pray thee and obey the bible injuction warning us not to forget the assembly of brethren as it is the manner of some is-Hebres10vs25.Don't allow the devil to cheat you, the advantages of going to church far outweighs staying at home watching movies or listening to Tv preachers.Take a step away from backsliding and you are victorious once again |

sankky: I am not perplexed. NL is a very balanced site ala their moderators. I hope NL becomes as popular in UK as Labour Party is now in Abia
Abians have started rejecting the attempts to bribe them with morsels of food and little cash by visionless and planless Guber candidates of the APGA and PDP parties. They are demanding for each candidate to lay down his plans for Abia because Abians are not beggers. The shocker has just begun.
Labor party all the way. visit www.emekaotimbagov.com to see the Abia state of your dreams seen..... |
