You are going for a fantastic course really. Don't see your age as a barrier but a motivation Sir.
About whether the 15k tuition is worth it can be answered by you. In my opinion, due to the unmatched opportunities in your field, the tuition is worth it and I think it's even cheaper. Here is the deal, use the private Business School as a stepping stone into Germany.
While studying, you can extend your search to other Unis that offers same course with free tuition. You will find a ample of them. Don't be worried as your working experience with a convincing motivation letter will give you an Edge when you begin applying to other schools.
You won't pay the 15k once and if I'm right, that money is divided into semesters so you can pay for 1st semester once admitted, process your Visa, land in Germany and be on the lookout.
Regards
Thank you sir.

My brother that’s the best course you can study that’s why it costs so much, it’s really sought after everywhere and with your experience nothing less that 70k euros a year. If you succeed in your msc learn how to speak the language I’m sure you’d get a job. Not just from Germany alone, studying this course anywhere would do wonders for you, but’s it’s always so expensive that’s why most people don’t go for it
Thank you sir... very much! This is very encouraging.

Good people. I have been a silent reader. Thanks for all your contributions and assistance on this thread.

I've just been offered an admission in one of the private Business Schools in Germany for an MSc in IT Management. The tuition is hefty - €15k for the programme, though I can pay instalmentally throughout the duration of the course! It sounds crazy because almost all schools people have been getting here are free-tuition or 1500 max per semester.

My chances are quite limited really because I'm in my 40s and only had HND.

My question is this: is it worth it to spend this kind of money on this adventure? Na borrow a wan borrow the money sef! I hope to get a job in Germany and able to relocate with my family after the MSc. I have over 10 years work experience in IT working in one of the IT multinationals in Nigeria.

Thanks for your time in answering the question.

Thanks
Congrats Aub430. Please did you get the 489 ITA with 65 score? If you don't mind; pls which profession did you nominate?

Sylver247:
So lately I have been seeing posts around companies that treat their staff poorly and owe salaries with no work life balance.

I've also read comments about bad bosses who don't give a damn about their staff.

But I know their are great companies in Nigeria who really treat their staff well. Not just in terms of salary, but more importantly other benefits.

Benefits like:
* A clear career plan and path
* Constant training and development, sometimes abroad.
* A good health management program (HMO)
* A collaborative atmosphere between staff and management, no office politics or bickering.
* Daily lunch in the office.
* Care for family of staff

[s]I know some companies that have facilities like gym, tennis, library, and even bar for their staff. cool[/s]

So have you ever worked or heard about these companies? Let's hear from you.

NB: Not necessarily foreign or multinational companies. There are good Nigerian companies to work in.

This is an interesting thread.

That is the safest explanation you can give considering the urgency of your trip. The key thing here is that your salary is good, you just have to submit enough evidence to justify the purpose of your trip.

The gurus in the house - especially justwise and ekpotek; may God bless you so generously for your priceless assistance here.

Kindly spare a thought for me on this:
1. I had no plan of a UK travel this year at all; but I got an invite to the UK for an immigration briefing towards a possible permanent stay in another country .
2. Due to its suddenness, the only way is to get a loan to fund my travel which will definitely show up in my acct statments.
3. I want to apply for a 3 day visit using the super priority process because the conference date is just next week - that's about 530k.
4. Can I honestly explain the bulk deposit that will show up in my acct that I borrowed it because the invitation came at very short notice?
5. My monthly salary is up to 500k from a permanent employment, though my expense monthly is as much! I only have savings of about 1m in a cooperative & pension of about 11m. Would submitting their statements count positively for me?
6. I intend to manage my expenses by staying with a relative in UK and staying for just 3 days. Will a budget of about N600k fly for me?
7. I'm married with children. I have only travelled to one Schengen country once and twice to a neighbouring West African country.

Thank you for your time as I humbly await your advice and counsel.

Contary to what everyone thinks, the scanner was right. Tranny is still very ok. The fault was a shift solenoid B switch that went bad.

Solenoid has been replaced at a cost of 20k and car is alright now.

For those who find themselves in similar situation, my advise is please scan the car first, if its an electric circuit issue, do not change the transmission...

Please do not change your transmission until you have it scanned. Thank you
This is very crucial. I followed your advice just this morning. The gear was not shifting anymore. It is as if it was stuck in Gear 2 or 3. It doesn't take off sharply and does not change to higher gear when you speed up. The mechanic was already thinking of dropping the gear - a work that will be a whole day or even 2 days. I googled and found this thread. I asked my mechanic to get my Honda CRV 2001 scanned. The technician was called and he ran the scan. Whatever he did using the machine worked because after he was through, the gear works perfectly without carrying out oil change or any physical work. Thanks for putting this up. Internet can be powerful!
TravelRe: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by Alore: 4:36pm On Feb 10, 2018
ICaSNg:
Masters in US is 2 years while ireland is 12- 18 months at most.

Just so you know- the OPT in US is mostly for graduates in STEM related programs. i.e If you are studying a business related course in US, the 18 months - 24 months post study visa may not apply. For Ireland, Irrespective of your course the 12 months initial and 12 months extension work permit is guaranteed.

But it all boils down to job/ permanent opportunities, USA definitely have more opportunities.

Cheers
Hi, ICasNg and other gurus here. Thanks for the good work you are doing here educating all of us. What course in Ireland would you suggest for someone that has HND Lower Credit in Mineral Resources Engineering but has been working in IT/Telecoms for about 14 years. His interest is basically in IT or Telecoms. I've been trying to help him search for relevant University and course in Telecoms & Networking, but it seems there are few options. Most options are in computing or Computer Engineering which are for core IT graduates.
Thanks.

@Ugonology,

It is possible to use your final year project to write CDR as you said you did geotechnical analysis.

However, the problem lies with pure geology that you studied. I believe Engineering geology course was the only possible related course you did in your undergraduate syllabus. To get positive assessment in academic qualification, I want to believe EA may want you to have your degree in geological engineering or geotechnical engineering even civil, where you do a lot courses relating to geotechnical.

If EA have advisory service, you may try it first.
Hi Bellong,
Thanks so much for the great enlightenment work you're doing on this forum. My case is a little similar to Ugonology. I have HND in Geological Engineering but I have been an IT/telecom professional since 2005. That's about 13 years of IT/Telecom experience including Field Engineering role in a multinational telco. Do you think I can have a very good outcome with Engineers Australia assessment under Telecom Technologist or Telecom Field Engineer or Professional? Thanks for your time sir. God bless you.

They were not sacked neither were they compelled to leave. MTN allowed those who wanted to leave to do so, however some people may have felt like it was safer to leave now than find out later that they may need to be made redundant.
Some opted to leave voluntarily. Many were actually compelled to voluntary resign. They did not want the scheme and did not expect the letter that ended their journey in MTN.

My car heating up issue was solved by an unbelievable solution: changing of the radiator cover.
I would drive for a short distance - 15km or so and then would be hearing boiling sounds from the hood, even though the temperature gauge seems normal. The mechanic at a glance suggested I change the radiator cover. One hand the thing resolve oh! grin

I advise you all to be careful

Hello People, I wish to buy a Xiaomi mi5 but I'm concerned about availability of accessories:
- Screen protector
- Phone case
- extra USB cable (I read that the Xiaomi mi5 USB cable is not the mini-USB that other phones use)
- In case the phone has a fault, e.g. broken screen, how easy is it to get parts for repairs?

Kindly drop contacts to get the phone and the accessories as I listed above. Thanks all.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Requirements For A Job In A Tel'com. Company? by Alore: 6:19pm On Jan 07, 2017
Lucasiangrey:
I am currently into a b.tech program in electrical and electronics engineering with options available in;electronics and computer engineering(ece),communication engineering (coe) and power system engineering(pse).coe or ece, which one do i go for?(for better chance of getting the job). After my first degree, what other certifications will be necessary? How long will it take me to obtain them?...I will welcome any additional advice.please,I need answers.Thanks.
I work in a Telecom company. The trend in the industry is fast changing and I will advise you to position yourself for the future. Field operation and field maintenance functions in Telecoms companies are being outsourced to Telecoms coy like Ericsson, Huawei, IHS (facilities, infrastructure maintenance). In those companies, graduates of PSE will have jobs but trust me, mostof those jobs can be dead end having no sterling future prospects in the scheme of things - at best you keep on doing the same thing with some little changes.

What is the future of Telecoms? The trend is IP, Cloud Technology, Application-based solutions. On this note, I'll strongly advise you to follow a career path that gets you footing and assures you climbing on the right ladder into the future.

So in summary:
1. go for ECE or COE for your undergraduate study
2. Finish with very good grade (minimum 2.1 or Upper Credit)
3. Get relevant certifications relevant to future-demanding technologies e.g. IP Technologies (Cisco - CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, Juniper, etc). Read more on certification tracks on www.cisco.com/certifications. Get skills/certification on others, like cloud computing, network security and solutions architecture and designs. Also, read up on IT Projects and Business certifications e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL, AGILE, SCRUM, SIX SIGMA, etc. There are some Telecoms/IT jobs where coding/scripting/software development skills are demanded. Most foreign jobs posted in Telecoms section have these in very high demand. Most of these guys work on the applications side - VAS (Value Added Services e.g. callerbacktunes, Callerfeel, etc.
4. Get a job that gives you experience along any of the above or similar career track and work steadily but swiftly around to learn the ropes and be an authority. Prioritise on company where there is training and exposure to these technologies; the pay may not be much but stick with a company that teaches you hands-on skills. Get as many relevant certifications as you can, ensuring you follow through to at least professional level of your core career track within the first three (3) years of your working.
5. Strategically, look out for a change of roles or position after the first 3 years of your job - it may be with same organisation or outside of it. Recruitment people (HR) seems to love people who have strong career mobility.
6. After your first 3 years, get expert certifications. Also, go for your MSc or MBA, to prepare you for taking up managerial positions.
Continuous learning is the key! Don't spend your early money you made at work to buy Lexus 350 and take up 3 bedroom flat in Lekki!!! Use it instead to invest in your career. If you must travel out, let it be that you go for workshops and seminars relevant to your career! Don't just go there to sleep in expensive hotels and riding in yachts!
Above all, fear God and keep all His commandments! Follow experienced and highly-knowledgeable career gurus in the house like Jarus and Ajanlekoko! These guys are good!
