RomanceRe: Don't People Want To Marry Again? What's Going Wrong In Our Society? by Alore: 12:44pm On Jun 24, 2020
kunkelhanspeter:
Like my cousin will always say apart from giving birth no need getting married...Thank God many girls just want to be baby mama
And you don't think of what becomes of those babies with single parenting?

Parenting is designed to be a responsibility of both mother and father living together in a family unit. Anything outside this means a sort of defective family upbringing, unless the single parent work extremely hard to cover up for the other missing roles.

People of this generation do a great disservice to the next generation they bequeath this "Baby Mama" or "Papa Mama" nonsense to.
RomanceRe: 3 Weeks To Wedding & I'm Confused! Please Advise Me by Alore:
"Can two walk together except they agree" (Amos 3:3).

Confusion and loss of peace in the face of what otherwise should make you excited is not a good sign.

I will advise you postpone the wedding to really re-examine if you want a marriage like this.

With the attitude of this lady, I think you're about to enter a high-maintenance marriage. It will exhaust and drain you if such attitude persists.

Let me ask you: does your heart skip at the thoughts of being with her because of fear of what may (or may not) make her angry or upset? If so, it means there is no signature of peace in that decision. Please don't rush if that's your state of mind.

Don't sacrifice your peace and future marital joy to please someone who cannot be pleased. Don't think you can fix her. You're not God.

And stop co-habiting... and playing with sin. If you claim you're a Christian why are you living a compromised life? Playing with sin in such a blatant manner is enough for you to be confused sef. Stop it!

Tell her you need the wedding post-poned to be sure both of you can live the rest of your lives happier. I've seen a wedding cancelled on the eve of the wedding day.

If you don't stand up to own your life journey now, you may be manipulated by a woman for the rest of your life. No woman is ever happy to marry a man they can manipulate. You may think you're pleasing her, but that's how to have a bad marriage.

A wise person sees danger ahead and dodge, but a foolish one enters it headlong. Please be wise!

Donbabaj:
I left her in the sitting room without any remorse but my mind no carry am. I went to plead with her now & she agreed. cry

TravelRe: Coronavirus Lockdown: A Nairalander In Ireland Shares His Experience (Photos) by Alore: 10:02am On Apr 02, 2020
Why would you say he is lying? €32/ week is €128 per month! That's a lot of money to spend on groceries in a month for just one person!

I spend less than €80 a month on groceries in Germany and I eat well.
And you talk of 2 liters of groundnut oil for a week. Do you know what 2 litres of oil look like? How would you cook and finish 2 liters of oil in a week? It is not juice that you pour in a cup and drink anyhow oh! 2 litres of oil is more than sufficient to take you for 1 month. I doubt if you are talking from a similar experience.

travelland:
Anybody living on €32/week in Ireland is not eating well. Look at his grocery shopping cart, he has two litres of groundnut oil, what is he going to use that for in a Week? I believe he has already stocked up but he's getting the items he still needs. There's nothing else in his cart besides oil, chicken, baking paper, green peas and a few snacks, who can survive on this for a week? STOP LYING ABOUT YOUR REALITY
TravelRe: Coronavirus Lockdown: A Nairalander In Ireland Shares His Experience (Photos) by Alore: 2:47pm On Apr 01, 2020
What is wrong living on €32 a week? Must you go to Starbucks before you have a coffee or to MacDonalds before you have lunch? With €32 you can buy grocery and do home cooking and eat well for a week! €325 looks like rent for a shared apartment - looks reasonable if you are on a budget e.g. a student. Nothing wrong about living a frugal life as you work towards a meaningful future abroad.

axeman10:
Obviously he is living in one room shared apartment for paying €325 a month in Limerick.. And who lives on €32 a week if not a pauper.. When a cup of coffee and muffin at Starbucks go for over €5.. That can't even fill your tummy for breakfast.

RomanceRe: Is It Advisable To Marry A Widow? Advice Needed by Alore: 10:44pm On Nov 20, 2019
Awoleesu:
The challenge utmostly lies with you!

1. Can you be mature enough to accept her kids as your own?
If you can, then trust me, you're almost very likely to win her loyalty 100%.

2. Can you do a thorough background check on her?
If you won't let 'love' blind you... Get to know whom she is spiritually, emotionally, psychologically etc... We're talking about a lifelong commitment here!

3. Are you mature enough to dust off side talks, jeering and societal jabs that come with such relationships as yours?
Trust me sir, as it is on Nairaland, so it is in the real world! You will meet resistance from your family members, disapproval of friends and peers, even doomsday tellers will predict very scary and unpleasant things about the relationship...

BUT

Your blind love + your maturity will work out the miracle here!

So, in my opinion, if you can positively answer these questions then BY ALL MEANS, PLEASE GO AHEAD!
In addition to this above sound advice, please tick off these on your checklist:

- YOU ARE NOT MARRYING HER OUT OF PITY: That will be a very foolish thing to do.
Even though she is a widow, do you feel thankful and favoured by God that she will be your wife? Or do you feel you are doing her a favour by marrying her?

- YOU ARE NOT TAKING ADVANTAGE OF HER VULNERABLE SITUATION.
Assuming she is not a widow, would you ordinarily be able to approach her?

Be sure that it is not your insecurity as a man that is driving you to settle for someone who has little or no choice than to settle for a man who has tried to come her way.

If there's any insecurity, deal with it first!

My two cents!

Good to see this thread is shaping lives.....
This is a good story with a great lesson to learn; but please acknowledge the source of your story. Posting a written material as if it is your own is dishonesty. And even if it is your original story, you still need to reference it because I have read this story somewhere else before now. Please do the right thing and don't ignore it.

Sorry pls can the job offer letters be for all the jobs listed in ur CV or just one job?
I think you should provide job offer letters for all the places where you have worked or are working. Where you can't find job offer letters, I believe other documents like salary review letter, letter of awards/recognitions, letter of promotion, etc with the company letterhead should suffice.

Hello, what is it compulsory to submit job offer letters?
If you have work experience listed in your CV, then I believe it is reasonable to submit documents to support the fact. Job offer letters or salary review letters, etc can be your supporting documents.

also better you hold other supporting documents and their photocopies in a separate bag. Not necessary but recommended.
Very true - professional certifications, job offer letters for employments listed in your CV, salary increase/promotion letters, certificate of awards/recognitions, marriage certificate, etc.

I am going for the same course same school, please what the documents you submitted apart from the ones from the school?
You mean submitted to the Embassy?

There is a checklist on the Consulate website. Work with the checklist meticulously to arrange your documents. The Embassy will not ask you for anything more than what is on the list and having anything less can give you troubles.

You can download the Checklist from here:

AM alert!!!

I give all glory to God for guiding me to this path! Also, let me thank you, the ever-supportive Nairalanders. I learnt a lot through this forum.

Course: MSc IT Security Management
School: Arden University Berlin (through GISMA Business School Berlin)
Interview: 5th April
BA confirmation: 29th April (Re-sent with Visa application receipt number in May 17th. Still I didn't get any reply or acknowledgement huh )
AM: 29th July

TIMELINE (all within this year, 2019):
Jan 23 - Applied for the course
Feb 7 - WhatsApp video interview
Feb 13 - Received Admission Letter
Feb 19 - Received Enrolment Letter from the school addressed to the German Embassy, Lagos for Visa applications. This is upon the payment of €2,000.00 deposit. Balance of €10,000.00 to be paid instalmentaly throughout the course duration.

After this, I spent about 3 weeks almost everyday having sleepless nights (10:30 AM to 2:00 AM in average) clicking and refreshing on the Booking appointment page to get a date for the Visa Interview.

Finally...
April 3rd - About 11:17 PM, Got an interview appointment date for 5th April. Just 2 days interval! I was in panic mode...!!! Should I cancel or not cancel? How do I get all the documents ready? What of flight from South-South to Lagos and back? How do I prepare for the questions?

I posted my confusion on NL and guys encouraged me to go for the interview - nothing happen! grin Thanks aduku1, Armstrong34, tsmith1.

April 4th:
- I couldn't sleep after getting the appointment date, I woke my wife up and we started to arrange my documents and pack... The following morning was printing stuff and photcopying "up and dan" - Visa Application Form, CV, Declaration page, etc. Ha!...No, Primary School Certificate..! I ran to court to swear affidavit...just in case! Na there I parked my car and task force came to carry the car away. See stress! cry I spent the next 2 hours running up and down to recover the car. I pity my wife, she was running up and down to ensure I meet up with time. Lastly, went to do the passport photo. I couldn't remember the passport spec sef. I just told the guy, do the one for USA...! Wrong number!!!... I had to cough out N1000 to snap the correct one at the Park close to the Embassy that interview morning! It was there I also got the pre-paid Courier envelope.

It was almost time for the check-in at the airport. I rushed out of the shop where I was printing the passport photo. Wahala... my car refused to start oh! My wife, sharp woman, started to rebuke the devil and sharply arranged taxi to the Airport. I was lucky to get a seat in the only flight to Lagos for the day!

April 5th - INTERVIEW DAY!
- I got there around 6:05 AM or so.... So, this is the popular Mr. Paulinus!
As we were arranging the document, the man asked for Biodata of 5 years or earlier. I told him it was not in the Checklist. The man looked at me and said I was not serious. "Those other people that have, you want to tell me they don't know what they are doing? Why is your own list special?" I stood my ground oh... Mr. Paulinus saw the checklist I printed from the Embassy website. Na im the man cool down...Lol! But he later got me, when he saw that I didn't have photocopies of my Letter of Motivation. He just packed the documents I had arranged, use rubber band to hold them together and gave them back to me. "My friend get out of here! I can see you are not ready... Shebi you are Mr. Meticulous. So, you didn't see that you are to have 3 copies of all your documents... Don't tell me sorry. You have not offended me" grin. He gave me a small note where he wrote the time I should be back or lose my appointment. Guys, I hurried to the Park and made the photocopies oh. I think it was N100 per copy.

The interview went well and easier than I thought! I was interviewed by the sweet lady in dreadlocks. She is very smart but seemed to be patient with me. They were normal questions we've been seeing here. Don't let me bore you with those... But she told me I would have blocked before coming. I told her it was in process that I didn't know I would get the interview date so early.

THE LONG WAIT FOR AM...

On June 16th, when it was like 10 weeks after the interview, I called the Embassy. The lady that picked said, I should just forget it once I have done my interview. That I should wait for their email. Well, that sound hopeful wink! You don't receive email if your application is rejected, you simply receive your documents back! As at July 1st, the Alien Office in Berlin replied the email I sent to them that they don't have my records. Na so, I told myself, let me just shift my attention to other things I am doing. It is far from easy though!

So, it has taken 16 weeks and 3 days for the AM to come finally, finally!!! It was not easy waiting at all. But God made it to end in praise!!!

So my NL people, please don't give up. Those who are just waiting for AL, they will get it! The AD issue may seem all troubling, confusing, depressing and disconcerting, this too shall pass and you will get your date. And, your efforts will be crowned with the good news of your AM landing in your email! We go dey alright las las in this Germany waka! Thanks all!!!

Please people in the house, what could be the reason why Embassy has not forwarded an applicant's file to the Alien Office since about 3 months after interview?

When contacted, the Embassy says Student Visa for Winter takes time... your enrolment is still far... and you should wait for the mail...
This is three months after interview fa! undecided

Guys whats happening in naija? Are we having too much people who want to study here or why are they not having dates for people anymore?
It has not happened before. When I was coming here I did my interview in September got my visa in october.
Why is Nigeria a problem gan sef?other students from other countries are not having issues...ony Nigeria.
Make God save us o.make dem still give dates to people wey apply since na?or is it that those who just applied cannot dates...how about people wey don book tey tey?
@ bolded, this is not just a Nigerian problem.

Applicants from India are having it worse than us even. I've read some waiting for 4 months for interview dates! The reason is because success rates of student visa approvals to countries like Canada, USA and even UK is now pathetically low; everybody is shifting attention to Germany now despite the language barrier that kept many away before now.

These are emerging realities that we just need to find a way around.

if you are struggling with programming and/or IT in general, my advice is don't give up.

Thanks for coming back to enlighten us. Your posts have been very very helpful.

Most times IT fields are mentioned as per German runs, what I see often talked about are usually about coding/programming/application developments aspects of IT.

Kindly advise on IT scenarios that are non-programming e.g. Telecommunications, IT Tech/Network Support, Network Admin/Operations, Security and Enterprise Architecture/Designs. How are the opportunities both for part-time student jobs and post-study professional full-time job in these other IT areas?
