[img]http://odili.net/news/source/2010/jul/30/sun/bene[1].gif[/img] Some of the beneficiaries http://odili.net/news/source/2010/jul/30/522.html To them, it was a morale boosting with many residents expressing gratitude to the initiator of the programme. For a 49-year-old beneficiary, Mrs. Gloria Adigun, it was kind of the organisation who offered free-medical services, thereby bringing smiles to the faces of the rural dwellers. Aside from offering free-medical services, the group also donated drugs worth over N800,000 to the delight of the rural community. The Patriots team was led by its president, Dr. Olatunbosun Fadeyi, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Project Mnitoring, Tokunbo Odebunmi, and the Head Clinic, Lafarge Cement WAPCO Nigeria, Mrs. Irene Adesina. The Onipapa of Papalanto, Oba Abdul Rasaq Jimoh, expressed happiness for the gestures of the group adding that it had no political coloration. According to Fadeyi, the organisation had been in existence for the past four years and had also administered free drugs and medical treatments on no fewer than 3,500 people across the state. Fadeyi, who is also a Senior Registrar, Family Medicine, Sacred Heart Hospital, Lantoro, Abeokuta, was accompanied with no fewer than 69 volunteers which included 10 doctors, 30 nurses, four laboratory scientists, five pharmacists and 20 paramedics. Patriots is a community based organisation (CBO) that provides social services at the local level adding that it is a non-profit-making organisation whose activities are based primarily on volunteer efforts. CBOs depend heavily on voluntary contributions for labour, material and financial support. Within the short period of its existence, the group has organised several major programmes ranging from humanitarian services on health related issues to capacity building and youth development programmes. The objective of the journey was to identify some social and health-related problems facing the rural dwellers and to see how the organization can help to solve some of these problems. He disclosed that free mobile clinic exercise was staged on September 1, 2007 at Ake Palace Ground, Abeokuta, where about 950 people were diagnosed and drugs were administered free of charge. While sharing his wealth of experience with people, Fadeyi lamented the state of health, education and health facilities in the country: “The incident of complications resulting from diabetes and hypertension, otherwise called silent killers is on the increase just as the issue of worm infestation and childhood infectious diseases requires critical intervention.” He expressed worry that Nigeria, unlike other developing countries was yet to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) the target of which he said the United Nations puts at 2015: “It is pathetic to note that in Nigeria unlike other developing countries, over 75 percent of these goals (particularly in the health-related ones) are yet to be achieved.” He stated and canvassed for concerted efforts on the government and other stakeholders to achieve the goals. |
Shocking !!! Police discover 40 feet well stored with petroleum products in Lagos By Victor Jacob Friday, July 30, 2010 Residents of Lagos were last week shocked when photographs of a 30/40 feet well stored with petroleum products were beamed on their televison screens. In fact, more shocking was the fact that the well was originally dug for purposes of supplying water to a wood producing factory only for it to be cleverly converted into fuel dump. [img]http://odili.net/news/source/2010/jul/30/vanguard/images/Oilwell[1].jpg[/img] The substance, suspected petroleum product [img]http://odili.net/news/source/2010/jul/30/vanguard/images/Oilwell1[1].jpg[/img] The well http://odili.net/news/source/2010/jul/30/322.html Unfortunately for alleged perpetrators of the act, a team of Policemen from Idimu area of the state, led personally by the Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police, Ambrose Agbedo, stormed the illegal fuel dump last Thursday, and arrested them. Acting on a tip off, the team of Policemen raided the premises of a factory owned by one Chuks Okonkwo and discovered the well, measuring about 30-40feet below the ground which is being supplied with petroleum products from a raptured pipeline of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.(NNPC). The principal suspect, Chucks Okonkwo (48)owner of the factory claimed that the well was dug for the purpose of supplying water to the factory in production of wood finishing paints. According to him, when he noticed that fuel was flowing into the well about two months ago, he locked the well and thereafter informed NNPC officials carrying out maintenance repairs on some damaged pipes within that area. He, however suggested that the leakage could be as a result of a burst pipe of the NNPC that has been long due for replacement. However, the Police claimed that their preliminary investigation of the well revealed that there is an underground pipe connected from the factory to the NNPC main transport pipe. Police sources said other suspects arrested together with Okonkwo were; Mohammed Cobna, Abdulrahman Yabren, Ishiaku Lamba, Dauda Dambri, all from BurkinaFaso and two Nigerians, Ifeanyi Izunwanne and Grace Chukwuemeka. The source said all the suspected persons were workers in the factory as at the time of arrest and they denied having knowledge of fuel in the well even though, the well was conspicuously located at a corner in the factory premises. Grace Chukwuemeka, the only female suspect told Crime Alert that she was employed barely two months now and that her job was to place labels on the company’s products. The DPO of Idimu Police Division, CSP Ambrose Agbedo and Lagos State Police command spokesman, Mr. Frank Mba (SP) led a team of journalists to the site where they personally drew buckets of fuel from the well, confirming allegations that it was refined petroleum product. The PPRO described the act as the “height of creativity in the criminal world which poses a great threat to the environment in particular and, national security in general.” |
Flex escapes assassination Thursday, July 29, 2010 Shortly after his arrival from a musical tour of Switzerland and South Africa , popular singer and Chief Executive Officer of Samba Unit Records, Charles Adedeji, a.k.a. Flex, has escaped an assassination attack. [img]http://odili.net/news/source/2010/jul/29/vanguard/images/Flex[1].jpg[/img] Charles Adedeji, a.k.a. Flex advertisement Flex escaped the attack by whiskers over the weekend on his way home from one of his studios in UniLag where he had gone to record the album of Ernest Asuzu, an artiste on his label. He was attacked at about 11:30 P.M on the 3rd Mainland Bridge by two guys and a lady carrying AK 47 riffles. The dread-locked wearing entertainer gushed that but for divine intervention he would have been dead by now. According to him, “the whole thing was like a movie scene. I can’t actually comprehend the fact that it wasn’t a dream, but I thank God for His grace.” Continuing, Flex, who had since gone into hiding said “the only thing I noticed was that their vehicle had been trailing me and one of them was actually waving at me. I also waved back, thinking that they were my fans. But to my surprise, as I approached the bridge, they crossed me with their jeep, and immediately, I saw the lady among them raising the riffle. And it dawned on me that they were not my fans, so I reversed my vehicle with speed while they did the same. “The James Bond race continued for almost a minute before I change my gear and drove off. And because the car I was driving was the latest Lincoln Navigator, of course they could not catch up with me again. I just thank God for saving me.” In the words of Red Eye, another artiste under Samba Records, “the tension here is high now because this is actually the third time that one of us is experiencing such occurrence. It is unfortunate because we can’t imagine why anybody will be after us.” http://odili.net/news/source/2010/jul/29/306.html |
chyket:@ no 1: They don't build cars now with steel because fiber glass is cheaper and lighter thereby saving you gas. It also have low tensile strength which is way safer than steel should you be in a crash. @no 4: The tires has nothing to do with the auto maker. |

What were they doing in Abia state? |
Is it not possible that he owns the property before becoming a governor?. He bought those properties 5 and 10 years ago. Was he a governor then? |
nellaluv:How did you conclude that the guy is rich?. Did you see his assets although he is wearing a rich suit[wrong color tho, who wears blue suit for a wedding]?. It looks like the brides dad is the rich one imho. |
Sagamite:Go to Ebute Ero, there are still quack beauticians there ready to make you caucasian today. God shall do for you what He did for Akala. Imagine him being the first white governor of Oyo state. Try and be a first in something for once in your life. |
akinalabi:Very true. I remember the days when Nissans/Datsuns, Toyotas, Daihatsus, Mitsubishis, Hondas were untouchables. If it is not British, German or American, nobody will touch your automibiles. But today, it is a different ball game. The only problem is that the Chinese auto industry didn't start today. Some are as old as the Hondas etc. They were building trucks and vans for the most part tho. |
Sagamite:I don't know why Akala left you behind in everything. You can see he is white now and you are still black[Ogbomosho model]. |

Sagamite:No, they are 30 years younger than you. How can that be?. Were you not 2 sets below Alao Akala?. Although you may not recognize him then because he was black. ![]() |
philip0906:The guy is not more than 30 and he looks damn good. stop hating. |
0hsisi:His suit is a very nice one but I think Ngozi is actually taller than him. May not be a good choice as Ngozi's father is average height too. Unless Ngozi is a very tall lady which I doubt from these pictures. |

0hsisi:Yes, igbo women are causing bachelor-drain in Yorubaland. That's got to stop. Imagine another one snatching this fine brother away with her beauty. He is not a small boy rather he is not too tall. If there are no reverse trend to absorb the excesses soon, OPC shall henceforth abolish Yorubamen from marrying from igboland unless as 2nd wives or the groom will pay a fine of N1M. If Nollywood and Ghanawood did it, why can't the same law be applicable here?. Osisi warn your sisters o. |
