My heartfelt sympathy goes to the family of Wale. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. |
Nigerian student killed in Kansas City Missouri By Roland Bankole Marke igerian born Olawale Oladimeji Oladipo was a kind hearted and vivacious 25 year-old student of the University of Missouri in Kansas City, majoring in Economics. He had only two more semesters to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Economics. https://nigeriaworld.com/images/news/big/international/nigerian/us/late-olawale-oladimeji-oladipo.jpg the late Olawale Oladimeji Oladipo advertisement Friends and relatives said that he was a faithful born again Christian, who followed the teachings of the Bible with a passion. He was already engaged in Nigeria to his family approved sweetheart, and had planned to marry her right after graduation on his return to the motherland. But fate would frustrate a well coordinated projection of events. On that fateful early Tuesday morning, between midnight and 3.30 am, workers at McDonald fast food restaurant discovered the body of a man found dead in the parking lot. The corpse was later identified by police to be the body of Oladipo. Police have not yet revealed how he was killed, but they are investigating the occurrence as homicide. According to the family, he left home a few blocks away. But they don’t know how he ended up at the destination where he was found dead. He was employed as Correction Officer in Jackson County. His goal was to save enough money and return to Nigeria in December, where his fiancée was waiting for him to get married. The police are appealing for information and anyone who has any should call the TIPS hotline. His family has opened a memorial fund in his honor: After he was killed about a fortnight ago in Grandview, Missouri, his remains were interred at the Dwayne Harvey funeral home cemetery in Grandview. His tragic death brought together the perceived polarized Nigerian community, pouring out their hearts during the funeral service and prayer session held on his behalf. There were 25 eulogies, each one representing each year of his life as fitting commemoration of the rising star. His life was prematurely ruined by an unknown gunman or gunmen. The editor of Sharpedgenews.com Oladimeji Abitogun spoke emotionally of the deceased short-lived life that was well spent. One of his professors at the University of Missouri described him as extremely cultured and respectful. Even though he was in the US, he followed and extended the courtesy of the typical Yoruba culture by prostrating to greet his elders, regardless of the occasion and the diversity of people present. He was a passionate sportsman and ardent football lover. His favorite scripture displayed on a plaque on his wall was: ‘For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten son.” Kansas police are meticulously trying to piece together whether the death was a gang related mafia or one masterminded by recalcitrant prisoners at the prison correctional facility where he was employed: responsible for Oladipo’s mysterious death. But there are more questions than answers at this point in the progress of the investigations. The deceased is survived by a colony of grieving and destabilized extended family and a host of friends. http://naijanet.com/news/source/2010/aug/4/1000.html |
Beaf:People in Nigeria eat through their anus. They know the right thing to do but choose the wrong direction because it will be more profitable. By the time they calculate the cost of those suits, air tickets, food, hotels , etc. you will know why they made such decision. Hosting the workshop in Nigeria will cost less and that means no profit for the organizers.Cursed nation. Unless these kids paid for their upkeep and transport but any other thing besides that is fraudulent. |
tpiah:You mean you haven't seen a bldg and palm tree like that before? ![]() You need to come out of Akute more and look around. I thought she wanted to say lovely ladies rather she was hailing a common building that looks like an secretariat bldg in Nigeria. |
Why can't the government use that money to sponsor the workshop in lagos thereby giving room for more participants?. It's not as if they need special technocrats and equipments for leadership training. All these exercise do nothing but drain Nigeria's economy while making South Africa's economy more viable. Babapupa, this your Fashola worship is getting out of hand. |
chosen04:They showcase their culture according to different tribes; host professional workshops, eat, merry, introduce each other and many actually put a face to their facebook group, recognize great Igbo achievers and so on. It was from umuigbo convention that stars like Amobi Okoye, Osi umenyiora, Israel Idonije, Emeka Okafor, Iheanyi Uwaezuoke started the Nigerian charity tour. These dudes rarely knew jack about Naija except Emeka because his parents are richer and he visited often. Besides, what is your business about what they do?. it's not as if they use your tax to host their convention. Igbos are known for doing similar things around the world and as long as they don't contribute to it and it doesn't stop you from going to the market to buy garri, why are you milking yourself dry over it?. They can fuccing do whatever they want with their money and time. Even if it is only hook up they achieve there, it is something. Do you know how many chics of Yoruba and Ijaw descent roaming in America with no clue on who is their people?. A convention can bring them home eventually. Don't they have social clubs in Nigeria?, Do you go about questioning their motives? |
chosen04:And they told you that all they do there are the things you listed above?. By the way, what is this your idea of the way forward that will entice a body of professional young people who have pitched their tent in America? |
sjeezy8:Really, please do tell us how that chic looks big to you? sjeezy8:Is it the little girl you are stalking in your avatar?. How on earth will she know that you are a Yoruba tribalist? |
MaziUche0:Over 60% attendees for this year are doing it for hook ups and nothing more and it seems to be working for them. Personally, I have attended 3 umuigbounite hook up weddings this year and one of the brides is not even igbo, she is ijaw but she attended and collected her husband sharp sharp from there. It is now a melting point for young professionals to find a partner. |
chosen04:No we are not at war rather we are in recession. Economic recession, mental recession, social recession and great depression. One of the side effects of that state could be WAR tho. |
chosen04:Don't you think Igbos are creating a niche to know each other better so that there offsprings can be predisposed to marrying each other. A lot of Nigerian born kids are roaming the streets of America looking for ways to fellowship with their people and I think umu igbo unite is doing a good job of it. Many youths who attended their last year exercise enjoyed it and that was their first time of coming closer to their folks especially those ones whose custodian parents are foreigners. Also none of them ever said anything about Biafra. I am sure you think that wherever Igbos come together, they must be discussing Biafra. |
Yea its true, i forgot. |
ezeagu:Is Dennis osadebe igbo?. I though he was Urhobo? |
chosen04:Phones and other forms of electronic networking can never suffice a celebration of culture and friendship. If that is the case, all festivals should cease forthwith since we can celebrate them online and through phone, including Nigeria@50. |
EzeUche:Any discount on visa for international participants? |
Lol, its like the guy is trying so hard to enjoy every second of his 15 minutes of fame. |
https://img175.imageshack.us/img175/3453/dtcommonstreamsstreamse.jpg Is this police more interested in the assault case or showcasing his big stomach on camera? |
Corrected. I didn't know it matters. Is there any verse in the quran that obligates us to start Allah's name with a capital letter or is it a formulated idea?. Do you stress the capital A while pronouncing it too? |
Mr Cork: |
dlox01:roflmao ![]() Some people are taking this too personal. It looks like Linda Ikeji must have broken a few hearts in the past and they are here to get their pound of flesh abi she no gree this fa99ot in the first place? |
jumobi1:The lawsuit could take 10 years and her children will have to eat before then. Also, she may disappear without trace(gbomogbomo style) during the legal tussle and everything is under the assumption that Deji is worth millions. May be he relies on gifts from his people to survive. |
Travelista:Yes she is still in the picture. In Africa, both women can cohabit under the same roof as wives of one man. A pathetic culture that denigrates women. |
Messi is overrated and luck plays a huge part in football career. Kaka is another world class player and is rated more than Robinho yet I think the reverse should be the case besides, did any of you check the age difference between Obi and Messi?. Nigerian players shine in their peak unlike oyibo players who start on time. |
[img]http://odili.net/news/source/2010/aug/2/vanguard/images/Kehinde400[1].jpg[/img] Kinda sexy for a 65 yr old tho. |
Human rights abuse in Naija is alarming. |
Can some muslim please tell me how you determine that Allah have answered your prayers. Why are you so sure that the miracle or answered prayer is from your Allah? |
www.nairaland.com/attachments/300884_lagbaja_jpgfb19a764b20ed3db72b8af33d028bbfd You be mumu because this is not lagbaja. I have his current picture given to me by his mistress and he legally blocked the picture from the public. |
Travelista:But he has repented and learned from the ugly experience. Don't you believe people can change? |
The best guy on nairaland besides David Dylan is Jarus. I applaud this appointment from the bottom of my heart. Unfortunately, tpia may commit suicide when the reality that Jarus is the man now hits home. Jarus is the current ebeano. |
@Aloy But it's so unfair what Nigeria women have to go through. No sorts of protection. I'm sure she's being threatened. I mean, everybody was angry by the incident, now why would she want him re-instated?
This woman may not have any source of income and prosecuting Deji will mean that her children and her will remain in dry season for long. How will her kids go to school?. Don't heap the entire blame on her after all, other women in America do the same when they weigh the pros and cons. Calling a cop to arrest your husband is not always a wise idea especially when his checks are fat enough to give your behind profound comfort. |
Travelista:Stoning him will be worse than what he did to her. I will not advocate for that just that I wonder how she is sure the man will not batter her again and this time it may be fatal. That's why I like oyibo women, if her husband needs her support to achieve a political post, she will demand for his most prized possession before standing by him. This is the opportunity for olori to get whatever she wants from him and also demand for the 2nd wife to be sent home. |
