I don’t think this is a place to look for job.
Note: I am not here to discourage anyone. I based my comments on what I saw when I traveled there with Guyanese friends.
Also, I was only there for 2 weeks It's good that you warned them. Due dilligence is key.

dasparrow: He will have to fly using Turkish Airlines. Turkish Airlines is part of the STAR ALLIANCE network. They have an interline agreement with Copa Airlines which is a Panamanian Airline that flies to several countries in Central and South America. Guyana is located in South America.
What is an interline agreement? It is a voluntary commercial agreement between individual airlines to handle passengers traveling on itineraries that require multiple flights on multiple airlines.
So, tell your friend to go to the Turkish Airlines office located at Plot 1061 Leadway House, 1ST Floor, Herbert Macaulay Way, Abuja . Tell him to tell Turkish Airlines that they should book his ticket in such a way that he will fly from Lagos or Abuja to Istanbul Turkey using Turkish Airlines.
Then change flights in Istanbul Turkey to another Turkish Airline flight going to Panama. From Panama he will catch Copa Airlines which will take him directly to Guyana.
Once he checks in his luggage, he will get his luggage at his final destination which is Guyana. He does not need to pick up his luggage in Istanbul and Panama and check it back in. Also, he will not be charged multiple times for his airline ticket. He will be charged a one time round trip airline ticket despite the fact that he will need to transit through 2 different airports located in 2 different countries.
Also, he does NOT need a transit visa for Turkey as long as he does not intend on exiting the airport while on transit. He also does NOT need a transit visa for Panama as long as he is not exiting the airport and his transit wait time within the airport is within 12 hours. So, as long as he does not have to wait longer than 12 hours in the airport in Panama for his flight connection to Guyana, he will be fine.
So, let me show you how the itinerary will approximately look like using the actual airport codes in bracket. Let's assume his city of departure in Nigeria is Abuja. It will look like this:
Abuja (ABV) to Istanbul (IST) to Panama (PTY) to Guyana (GEO)
Let me give you the name of the airports:
ABV : Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja
IST : Istanbul Airport (Turkey)
PTY : Tocumen International Airport (Panama)
GEO : Cheddi Jagan International Airport (Guyana)
I just want to add that I am neither a travel agent nor do I work for Turkish or Copa Airlines. I was once in your friend's shoes. I needed to travel to that region of the world directly from Nigeria and found myself wondering on how to get there since acquiring a transit visa for a 1st world country from Nigeria can be so difficult. God showed me the way after I unsuccessfully tried to figure it out on my own and I was able to travel and get to my destination successfully. Hence, my decision to assist you and everyone else reading this thread with this travel information.

PublicHealthNig: The intrigues and the power play in the Nigerian political sphere did not begin today I stumbled on this story on @Ngrfacts on twitter investigated deeper and decided to share .
Olabode Akanbi Thomas was born to the family of Andrew Thomas, a wealthy trader and auctioneer who was originally from Oyo but migrated to Lagos. He attended C.M.S. Grammar School, a missionary school founded by Thomas Babington Macaulay and James Pinson Labulo Davies. After completing his studies, he served as a junior clerk at the Nigerian Railway Corporation but towards the end of the year, he resigned his appointment and went to London to study law. He was called to the bar in 1942 and returned to Nigeria to establish what became a successful practice in Lagos.
According to many accounts, Bode was an excellent lawyer who was however arrogant. Due to his education Thomas was made the chairman of the Oyo Divisional Council at a time when the Oba Adeyemi (the father of the current Alaafin) was still a member. At its Inaugural meeting of the council, Thomas arrived and all the other councilors, except Oba Adeyemi, stood up to welcome him. He rudely told the king “WHY WERE YOU SITTING WHEN I WALKED IN? WHY CANT YOU SHOW ME RESPECT?” At that time Bode was 34 years old while the Alaafin was in his 60s. The Alaafin felt very insulted. he told Bode “SHEY EMI ON GBO MO BAUN? EMI NI ONGBO BI AJA MO BAUN {IS IT ME YOU ARE BARKING AT LIKE THAT? IS IT ME YOU ARE BARKING LIKE A DOG AT LIKE THAT? KEEP BARKING.” That was on 22nd November 1953. It was reported that Bode Thomas got home and started barking. He barked and barked and barked all night. Then he died. He died on 23 November 1953.

Romance › Re: How Does A Young Teenager Figure Out What To Do In Life? by AlphaTaikun: 2:48am On Aug 08, 2022 |
CaveAdullam: Well said. I concur.
1. To try to escape the rat race is a rat race itself. Even if you escape the marathon rat race run by everyone, you'll still enter a race run by elites. Or a race that involves maintaining peace of mind. Life is an unending race. The only true escape or rest is death.
2. Humans have an insatiable void that must constantly be fed. You are hungry, you run the race to get food; and when you eventually get the food you want to store plenty of it so that you won't race for food again. Once you have gathered plenty you want to secure it. Once you have secured it you want to search for people you'll love to share with...the hole is infinite.
Contentment is a temporal phase. True contentment is only achievable through death.
3. Though I concur with your submission, I AM NOT A FAN OF DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY. Happiness is subjective, it is based on bias, sentiments, and feelings. With that line of thought, it will be hypocritical to condemn evildoers, because doing evil makes them happy.
Corruption makes some people happy. Oppression makes some people happy. Murder makes some people happy. Stealing makes some people happy. Evil in whatever style, font, and color makes some people happy.
4. You can't condemn the people above for their crimes because it is what makes them happy. And since happiness is subjective, you can't compel anyone to love what you love or to follow what makes you happy.
5. Communal strength grows when individuals forsake their sentiments and pursue a common long-lasting goal. This is how civilization grows. If the military arm and security arm of government should choose what makes them happy, we all would have been dead by now.
6. Civilization is built by the hands of men who see a better future that they will not participate in, but still, break their backs through sweat and blood to make that future attainable for generations unborn.
If great icons like Michael Faraday, Isaac Newton, Nikola Tesla, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein, etc. decided to do what makes them happy, probably, we wouldn't have reached this stage.
But you may say the actions of these people made them happy as they were passionate about their professions. But you must also consider that these actions or professions served the whole population. It is not even easy demonstrating their feats. That's why they are few compared to the general population.
7. Individuals desire some specific things for themselves, everyone doesn't want the same thing and it is fine. But in our pursuit of individual gratification, we must not forget the communal bond we share and civilization growth. Because once we fail to, we bounce back to chaos again.
8. Hence, I AM A FAN OF PURSUE TRUTH AND DO WHAT IS RIGHT EVEN THOUGH IT GOES AGAINST YOUR FEELINGS.
Once you submit yourself to truth, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, you can then know what happiness and peace of mind entail. It is a transcendent life that's void of useless guilt, calculating, and boldness. It is built to understand human nature, actions, and behaviors and how to counter it. Because truth be told evil can't be eradicated. But everyone must be built to fight it in whatever manner they appear - oppressors, manipulators, predators, and dictators.
This is how you will enjoy your life even though it is short.
9. But if we continue to find enjoyment in what makes us happy and hedonism, we shouldn't complain about the evils of others because that's what makes them happy too.
Thanks. Nicely put... Word! |

Daum: Thank God we don't have China as a neighbor. The Chinese are more domineering than the Americans. The Americans know how to make deals. Americans can even make deal with the devil they don't mind. China on the other hand just uses it's numbers to intimidate others. Like these guys are 1.4 billion. They have an army of 2 million. They have the numbers. High numbers. They have grown in the space of 40 years like no other nation has grown. During the leadership of Chairman Mao, China was very poor. They had a disastrous leap forward and cultural revolution that destroyed their identity. But like I said, the Americans can make deal with anyone...When China opened up to a free market system which is against the principles of Karl Marx to be sincere, it was America and her allies who came in with the big bag to invest. They saw cheap labor and took advantage of it.... The Chinese used that opportunity to lift over 300 milion people out of poverty. That makes me laugh when I see so many anti western comments...you ask yourself who has Russia lifted. The Russians couldn't even help China up. The Americans first helped the Chinese against the Japanese and then helped the Chinese again in their economic miracle. Is capitalism and free market not beautiful...it built the power houses in South Korea and Japan. Singapore and Hong Kong....See how it is revolutionizing the Taiwanese economy.
I think China should just find a way to maintain the status quo and get a leader who is less assertive over his Taiwan claims. They should lure in the Taiwanese that's all. It's foolish shooting your own people and destroying your own economy and lives of people to prove a point that you're big. Yes the world knows you're big. We respect you.... it would be foolish to let the Americans cause another war between you and your kins...
Well like all dictatorships they're kin on brutality. If they could shoot their own students in Tianamen, they can shoot dissident Taiwanese.
The problem with Taiwan are the new generation who have no idea what china is. They don't even care, to them all their lives have been in Taiwan. They're free to travel and do anything they want. They see no reason why they should even go back to the mainland. Those guys are the problem.
I wish for peace between them. Till then America will be a deterrent to China for now. Nicely put! Like I maintained earlier in my posts on this thread, and elsewhere online, The Mainland Chinese have dodgy military ambitions to subjugate others in the medium to long-term. If the U.S. collapses like the Roman Empire did, the Chinese will move in militarily against neighboring countries like Imperial Japan did in the years leading right up to the 1941 horrendous Japanese attacks on the U.S. Pearl Habor in Hawaii. |

Now would I not cook a good pot of afang soup of about 1l with N4500 and eat it many times? That is assuming I have the basic ingredients sha.
For me, I also consider the energy and time involved- that is what makes it expensive to always cook at home. Sometimes I just order out to save myself stress abeg.
Anyway, I noticed na poor people chop outside pass o. Whenever I am braiding my hair in those roadsides hairdressers, I will watch the woman buy N100 rice for her kids.
We should also consider the fact that many Nigerians do not have bulk money to use and cook a single meal. Soup wey them no even get light/refrigerator to preserve.

Food › Re: What Is Your Favourite Fruit? (pics) by AlphaTaikun: 2:59pm On Aug 07, 2022 |
Mariangeles: Fruits are very important, and should be an integral part of our diet because they contain antioxidants which are essential for human health. Antioxidants mop up free radicals in the body that can damage the body’s cells and lead to diseases, such as cancer.
According to Medical News Today Eating a diet high in fruits (and vegetables) can reduce a person’s risk of developing heart disease, cancer, inflammation, and diabetes.
Citrus fruits (like oranges, lemon, grape fruit, lime...) and berries (like strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, bananas) may be especially powerful for preventing disease.
Did you know that Oranges also contain high levels of pectin, which is a fiber that can keep the colon healthy by binding to chemicals that can cause cancer and removing them from the colon?
I read a guy's comment that said he could never buy oranges, mangoes, red apples...with his money, and the comment left me wondering what fruit do you like then? I mean, what more options are there? and that comment led me to create this thread, so that those who don't know, can know the importance of eating fruits.
So guys, what is your favourite fruit? What is/are the fruit(s) you can't tolerate?
For me, I like variety of fruits, but sweet oranges are my favourite. I cannot stand cashew! Urgh! I'm allergic.
As for pineapples...let's just say my mouth let's me know when it's had enough.
Nairalanders, what is your favourite fruit? Wow! Dayum... I have a sweet tooth though. Pineapples, apples, bananas, soursop, strawberries and vanilla. That's all my fav fruits baby. I love Pina colada and all smoothies with pineapple flavors. |

This amounts to pure psychic manipulation and black magic! Many folks have to be aware of these negative mind-altering tricks, fake news or videos and asinine lies that a significant number of Obi's supporters are using online and offline. Tarkwa Bay in Yorubaland was actually named by the British colonialists after the gold mining region/town of Tarkwa in Ghana. Tarkwa is a Ghanaian name and a lot of Ghanaian fishermen have been fishing in Nigerian waters for hundreds of years. It's the same way that the Yoruba island of Iru was named by the British colonialists after Queen Victoria. The original name IRU is still used till today for the entire V/Island, hence the name of the Oba (King) is the Oniru of Iru Kingdom in Iruland (V/I). The Bar Beach [now part of the iconic Eko Atlantic] was the location of the first Iru settlement of the Yoruba indigenes. I read about 3 years ago in Punch Online that some Ghanaian folks and fishermen had settled on islands owned by the indigenous Yoruba people, intermarried with them, and speak Yoruba fluently starting from around 1960. They have even introduced popular Ghanaian delicacies to the indigenous Yorubas of the island communities they live with in Lagos State.

life2017: My odyssey in the crime world –Bishop Kayode Williams 5th May 2019 The sun
His passion to help the country win the war against crime and criminality got the supports of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and that of the Nigerian government under former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
In this interview, Bishop Williams, who is also the national coordinator, Pastors for Integrity Initiative, Nigeria, spoke on his experience in the world of crime, his prison experience and why the nation’s prison system only succeeds in hardening criminals rather than reforming them. Excerpt:
It is very common to hear people arrested for robbery to blame it on economic hardship. Would you blame your decision to go into crime on hardship considering the fact that Nigeria was said to be far better than what we have now at the time you took to crime?
The time I was involved in crime was not a time I would blame my decision to go into crime on hardship. Mine was peer pressure. The kind of people I moved with led me into crime. It is not a palatable story because when a mistake is made, it is not always easy to correct. I got into the entanglement of smoking Indian hemp; I was involved with people like Ishola Oyenusi, Babatunde Folorunsho and Lasisi Ajibade a.k.a Dan Blocker, Balewa who was the most notorious Indian hemp seller in the old Western Region. These were the type of people that unfortunately remolded my life. I was a decent student in school with good parents particularly my mother and my elder sister.
... The first step I took when I left the prison was to visit the Dodan Barracks to look for Alhaji Shehu Shagari who was the President then. I came out on 2nd of June, 1980. But that effort was frustrated. What I needed then was one, accommodation, two, was proper rehabilitation. I later looked for people who could assist me and I met Chief Afe Babalola. When I met him I identified myself and explained what I wanted from him. I told him I needed his help not for myself, but for the generality of people who had been to prisons and those who are still in prison. He asked me what I wanted and I told him what I wanted was not money. I told him I have an idea of how we can resolve the problem of crime and help the prisons in Nigeria. I told him the first solution is to address the prison’s 4Rs. He asked me what I meant and I said reformation must take place in the prison. Rehabilitation must take place immediately after prisoners are released. Re-integration which is the bridge and then resettlement, then he agreed to work with me. I later wrote a letter of request to see Baba, Obasanjo when he was the President in 1999. When I introduced myself that I was from the prison, he welcomed me because he understood my language. So, I told him about my idea and Obasanjo accepted me and pledged to work with me too. He also granted me presidential pardon. I enlisted the support of Oba Adedapo. I was looking for people that matter in order to jointly help the nation in tackling the problem of crime. Everybody supported me when we started, but later we ran into the bottleneck of the Ministry of Interior because most the idea, to them, maybe they didn’t see it viable, or the minister in charge was not disposed to the issue of prisoners. But look at what we are witnessing now in terms of banditry and insurgency. Look at what the government spends in fighting these crimes including militancy. But these are things I can handle. It is not by the power of force. We can get them radicalized. I was a criminal, but God has turned me round to become a useful instrument. I have travelled far and wide and I have been taught by the British. I was in London on several occasions where I have been taught on prison reforms.

fergie001: The Commonwealth Games is an International multi-sport event involving athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations (Britain & her former colonies). The event was first held in 1930, and, with the exception of 1942 and 1946 (period of World War II), has taken place every four years since then.
Athletes with a disability are included as full members of their national teams, making the Commonwealth Games the first fully inclusive international multi-sport event.
Although, there are currently 54 members of the Commonwealth of Nations, 72 teams currently participate in the Commonwealth Games, as it is a feature of the Games that a number of dependent territories who do not compete separately at the Olympic Games, compete in the Commonwealth Games under their own flags.
Nigeria has competed since 1950 and will have participated in 15 editions by the end of this year's tournament. Africa's most populated nation was absent in 1962, 1970 (in protest at New Zealand's sporting/rugby policies towards South Africa during apartheid), 1986 (Nigeria led 31 Countries to boycott over then UK PM, Margaret Thatcher's refusal to sanction South Africa's white-minority Government) and 1998 (due to suspension over the Ogoni 9 executions).
Josiah Majekodunmi was Nigeria's first medalist, grabbing Silver at the Auckland 1950 Games in the High jump event. The Country's best showing was in Victoria 1994, finishing with 37 (11 Gold, 13 Silver, 13 Bronze) medals.
The 2022 (XXII) Commonwealth Games is scheduled to hold at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, England from July 28 - August 08, 2022 with 5054 athletes from 72 Countries expected to participate.

jimetagambo: Geez. Yoruba women are making waves lately in the sport news. They indeed deserves accolades. Yeah! That's the true Yoruba and Nigerian warrior spirit. The 'Tobi Amusan world record effect really lifted the spirits of the Nigerian athletes in Birmingham 2022. I'm really proud of Oluwatobiloba Amusan the former UTEP Miner, and Ese Brume!

Me: Boiled and Roasted. 1. Fried (dodo) and... 2. Boiled. I can eat fried plantains daily... The aroma is deeply sensual for me. Side note: Boiled plantain mixed with boiled yams and pounded is also mad cool. |

ElSudani: Lagos is no more Nigerian commonwealth than Anambra or Enugu. You can't shut others out of you region and dishonestly claim Lagos as some commonwealth. How? Recently we saw videos of cows being shot when their Fulani owners were no where to be seen. Isn't Iboland their country as well? Word! |
