The same government printing new naira in trillions was the same government borrowing dollars to influence the market and shore up the value of the naira! It was a case of invite a thief to steal then report the thief to the owner.
Indeed, you're right my brother. It was a very terrible period in Nigerian history to see Nigeria performing as an economic underachiever.

The past Nigerian Governments for decades lived a LIE by using scarce USD to defend the Naira. The average Nigerians too lived a LIE for years thinking that because the exchange rate of the Naira to the USD was low, it reflected the correct state of the total economy.
The fuel subsidy being paid with borrowed funds also fooled many into thinking the lower fuel pump price was reflective of the true state of the Nigerian economy. It was all a lie that wasn't sustainable otherwise if those subsidies had persisted, the ENTIRE economy would have collapsed. This is what a lot of the clueless random posters spreading disinformation online don't understand.

Things are beginning to pan out after the subsidy removal and the exchange rates have stabilized for many months and even appreciated. The foreign airlines flying into Nigeria that could NOT transfer their trapped USD funds made from the sales of tickets have since had the backlogs cleared up.

There's a lot more to be done but kudos goes to the folks in government for stabilizing the macro-economic parameters. The NEXT destination is to reduce the total cost of living even further on a state-by-state basis before the 2026/2027 election cycle begins.

How woukd Amaechi be so sure?

El Rufai said he listened to the calls of those in government and that Ribadu gave the order for his arrest. When Charles Aniagolu told him it was illegal, El Rufai said someone tapped the phone.

1. Charles never asked El Rufai, El Rufai volunteered information freely. When he was corrected, he claimed someone did it.

2. El Rufai has not denied his utterances. It is shoddy for Amaechi to deny on El Rufai's behalf.

3. If Amaechi is saying El Rufai lied, Amaechi is saying their opposition is built on lies, considering Amaechi himself had said Tinubu was delaying implementation of tax laws and said anyone who bought building materials would pay heavy taxes.

4. There was no attempt to arrest El Rufai. El Rufai started a narrative that he was to be arrested before he arrived Nigeria. El Rufai told us ICPC asked DSS to arrest him. When did he have problem with ICPC? Was his case not with EFCC? If any security agency wanted to arrest him, they'd inform the pilot not to open the doors until they enter the aircraft, arrest the subject and whisk him away. There were no plans to arrest him.

5. The opposition has stopped saying Nigerians are hungry. Food prices have crashed. Like we advised Tinubu, improve security and retire these people who have nothing to campaign on.
Nicely put.

The case was filed just on Monday and has not even been assigned to a judge yet not to talk of setting a hearing date. You ADC data boys should calm down and allow the process to play out.

Amaechi the hungry guy should also calm down. DSS did not invent the allegation. El-Rufai himself woke up one morning, went to a national tv station and announced without anybody forcing him that he and some people have bugged the phone of the NSA and they are listening to his calls.

So, this is not about capacity. This is about El-Rufai going before a judge to repeat the same thing he said on live tv. Thereafter, let the judge decide
. It’s very simple.

There's NO subsidy or intervention by the Central Bank of Nigeria in this case unlike in the past when the CBN had to intervene by pumping scares hard currency (USD) to prevent the constant depreciation of the local currency and the speculative currency manipulations in the black market.
PoliticsRe: Oyebanji Hails President Tinubu On Roads Infrastructure In Ekiti by AlphaTaikun: 5:08pm On Feb 18
AngelGabbyShara:

… As Afenifere reaffirms endorsement of President, Oyebanji for re-election

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has expressed his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the construction and rehabilitation of some inter and intra-state federal road to boost the economy and general well-being of residents of the state.

Governor Oyebanji who stated this on Tuesday, when he received leaders of the Ekiti State chapter of the Pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere led by its chairman, Elder Yemi Alade, in his to office, said Ekiti State in the last three and a half years has received more than what the President promised the State.

The Governor said the road projects, when completed, have the potentials to drive economic growth and development of the State and the Southwest region, as some of the road projects are linked to other states like Ondo and Osun.

The Governor spoke just as the Afenifere leaders re-affirmed their endorsement of President Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji for re-election, citing the purposeful leadership provided by the President and the Governor for their support.

Oyebanji who hailed the group for their support for President Tinubu, said he remained tankful to the President for fulfilling all his promises to the state, leading to an unprecedented infrastructure development in Ekiti.

“I also want to appreciate the President for his support for Ekiti, and I want to thank you for endorsing his re-election. Mr. President has fulfilled more than he promised us.

“As I speak now, Akure to Ado-Ekiti is now 35 minutes. He did it, and with his support, we completed the airport. With his support, we have rehabilitated the Ado-Iworoko–Ifaki federal road. He has also approved the construction of the road from Osun State border to Aramoko, the value of that contract is N153 billion because it's going to be concrete pavement.

“Mr President has also directed and approved reconstruction of Aramoko-Ijero-Ido road, as well as Omuo – Ikole –Ifaki road, very soon, I know that work is ongoing in ensuring that we are linked to Osogbo rail line so, when you cumulate all these things, he has done well for us. But, unfortunately, we still have some of our children, maybe because of ignorance or what they will eat, their actions still portray Ekiti as ungrateful people. We need to caution such people. I am not against politics but they shouldn’t play politics with facts.”

Speaking further, Governor Oyebanji described Afenifere as the custodian of Yoruba traditional values and culture, and thanked the Yoruba socio-cultural group for endorsing him and President Tinubu for second term. He promised to continue to deliver the best policies and programmes to further improvement the socio-economic lives of the people.

The Governor said: “On behalf of myself and Mr President, I thank you for the open endorsement, Because Afenifere is the custodian of our values, political values and our culture. So, for you to come out openly to say this is where they are, I do not take it for granted and I'm extremely grateful on behalf of myself and the President. The endorsement was based on facts you know, I'm aware that you went through all the projects and that is what separates Afenifere from other groups, you are meticulous, you are not partial and you say things the way it is.”

The Governor said further that he had been able to deliver on campaign promises to Ekiti people, adding that he would continue to champion the principle of party supremacy, which entails carrying the party along in some key decisions, especially on political appointments.

Earlier, the Chairman of the group, Elder Yemi Alad, affirmed the endorsement of Governor Oyebanji saying the decision was premised on his unprecedented and monumental achievements aimed at repositioning the state for socio-economic development of the people through the shared prosperity agenda of his administration.

Elder Alade highlighted the achievements to include the administration’s plausible economic policy, impactful infrastructural development, vibrant agricultural policy, regular payment of workers’ salaries and pension as well as enhancement of youth and women empowerment.

“Based on the above and convinced beyond all reasonable doubt that greater achievements will be recorded to renew your mandate during your second tenure, Egbe Afenifere resolved to organized the endorsement programme as pace-setting.

“Ekiti State chapter of Egbe Afenifere assures your excellency of our continued unflinching support, unfailing cooperation and unwavering loyalty during and after the forth-coming election. We remain with you to work devotedly for your election victory. We also prayerfully wish His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a resounding election victory in 2027 for second term tenure to move Nigeria forward.”

”we hereby reiterate our wish to dissociate ourselves from the fake, irresponsible group parading themselves as Afenifere Ekiti. It is not only a condemned group of impostors but a reflection of strange bed-fellows of doubtful characters. Ours is a genuine, purposeful and progressive group. We remain very solidly with your Excellency. Elder Alade asserted.

PoliticsRe: Muslims Are More Than Christians In Nigeria - Remi Tinubu by AlphaTaikun: 8:58am On Feb 18
mandarin:
I don't think the first lady made this statement.

We have thrashed this on X(twitter), we don't have more Muslims than Christians but the other way round.

Among the Yoruba in southwest, a Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket at state or national level may not matter because of religious tolerance, plurality and freedom.

There are 36 states in Nigeria and FCT.

NORTH

States with Muslim majority in the North : Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina, Kano, Bauchi, Borno, Jigawa, Yobe,

States with Muslim majority but with significant Christian population above 25% : Gombe, Niger, Kwara

Christian dominated states : Benue, Taraba, Plateau
States with more balanced population of Christian and Muslim(i.e. you need census to know actual figures): Adamawa, Nasarawa, Kogi ,Kaduna.

SOUTH

States with Christian dominated population are : Ekiti, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, River, Akwa- Ibom, Cross River, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra

States with more balanced population of Christian and Muslim(i.e. you need census to know actual figures) : Osun, Oyo

States with Christian domination but with significant Muslim population: Ogun, Lagos

Note:

For the Muslim dominated states of Bauchi, Borno and Kebbi there are at least over 15% Christians who are indigenous of those states.

There is no way Muslims can be more, the argument has always been the population of the Northwest region with dominant Muslim population which will collapse in the face of biometric enabled census.
Even with the estimated census based on the 2006, Christians would be more.

Talking about biometrics enabled census, the most populous state in the north by far is Kano which may be around 14million people, this is less than the number of Christians in Lagos and at least 10% of that are Christians and they have small indigenous Christian population. Kaduna that is next say 9millionhas over over 40% Christians. This leaves Jigawa, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Bauchi, Yobe and Borno as the Muslim dominated states.

Logically, there is no way Muslims can be in majority and I do hope someday, a biometric enabled census will happen and the outcome will shock many.
I like the way you broke down your analyses here.

However, British Colonial population censuses and demographic distribution of Nigerians at my disposal from the late 1800s to 1973 CLEARLY show that Muslims have always been more than Christians. INFACT the adherents of the different indigenous religions spread in the West of Nigeria (Ifa) and the Middle Belt were far MORE than the Christians as of the 1950s.

The Christians are just a new religion in Nigeria. Islam has been in Yorubaland for over 500 years now.

There were already Muslims in Ekiti as of the 1800s but Ekiti is still largely NOT Muslim as of today same with Ondo State.

Ijesa are the largest group in Osun state and they are more than eighty percent Christian. Ife Ijesa though a single senatorial district has over half of the Osun population and there is still significant Christian population in other zones. Osun will be close to 70 percent Christian. Ekiti and Ondo will be the same thing while Ogun and Oyo will be split almost equally. Among Lagos indigenes I agree Muslims may be more but Lagos don't have as much indigenes as even Ekiti state. The Yoruba in Lagos are up to ninety percent from other SW states and they will reflect the percentages in those states
Christianity is new to Yoruba land and Islam has been around for more than 500 years. I agree with that but somehow they guarded the space from being taken over by Islam. No significant Muslim monarch that I know of in the nineteenth century apart from in Iwo and Ilorin.

The North Central has majority Christian but you are right that the western part have majority Muslim but the difference is slight. In Benue and Plateau they have majority Christian and the difference is huge. Kogi though ruled by Muslims is clearly majority Christian. The local government chairmen are majority Christian
Nicely put. The Ebiras of Kogi however are overwhelmingly Muslims although I have a couple of very brilliant Ebiras associates that I have known for over 50 years now who are NOT Muslims. The Igalas also have a significant number of Muslims. However the Kogi State Yorubas (Okuns) are LARGELY adherents of Ifa and Christianity. I've never seen or heard of even one Muslim among the Okuns.

Just to add my thoughts on the religious inclinations of Yoruba folks in the 1800s, in my many decades of studyinh advanced archival materials on Yoruba history of the last 500 years (from books such as the "History of the Yorubas" by Reverend Samuel Johnson who is Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther's cousin via Alaafin Abiodun of the Oyo Empire), Balogun Oderinlo of Ibadan who was one of the MOST respected Ibadan military commanders that defeated the combined Fula attack in 1830 (there were also Ilorin Yoruba and Hausa Muslims who took part in the attack on Osogbo), was actually a practicing Muslim. It is to the credit of people such as Balogun Oderinlo that many of his fellow Yoruba Muslims stood up to fight the Fula invaders of Yorubaland and defeated them conclusively. The brave Yoruba warriors of Ibadan also defeated the foreign Fula bandits at Otun-Ekiti and they never attempted to attack the Yoruba interior again.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Babatunde Ogala, has lent his voice to the saga involving the former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, allegedly tapping the phone of the National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television monitored by DAILY POST on Monday, Ogala said such an act was criminal and punishable by the law.

According to him, beyond the Cybercrime Act, tapping someone’s phone may offend some sections of the Data Protection Act.

Recall that El-Rufai admitted that he and others listened to the telephone conversations of the NSA after tapping his phone, an act that has received many criticisms from various quarters, including the presidency.

Reacting, Ogala said, “First let me say in the criminal prosecution, the onus is on the prosecution to prove the case beyond reasonable doubts.

“As it were today, what we just heard is that charges have been filed. Three count charges under the Cybercrime Act. And the Nigerian Communication Act has been profiled against El-Rufai.

“I have not seen the proof of evidence to be able to determine what is contained therein, it will be safe to presume that the prosecution team would have done their homework before bringing these charges.

“This is not only because it was done to the National Security Adviser, tapping the line of a regular citizen, you have to face the law. It is worse being done to the NSA.”

Awoleesu:
There are some fundamental differences between a Shark and a Whale's locomotion in water.
The shark usually swings in an oscillating pattern while the whale moves in a dive/plunge.
The shark's submersive appearance at sea is usually a hunting quest (seeking preys) while the whale's coming afloat is in a bid to ventilate (catch some air).

The interesting thing about the OP footage is that some sharks are actually very big, the size of a whale (Note that there are different species of both with corresponding varying sizes).
Similarly, it must not be lost on us that the shark has gills, which makes its respiration in water intangible. The whale on the other hand, has lungs thus its respiration is visible in large bubbles and a blowhole like dispelling of air from beneath water level (this usually the giveaway sign sailors catch to detect a whale as against the high dorsal fin of a shark)

In essence, judging by the movement of that sea creature and the visible dorsal fin, it is very likely a Shark.
Climate change has led to a vast change in the migratory patterns of these deadly sharks. Areas that NEVER had shark attacks are recording more insidents such as in the Bahamas Island.

C'River Listed as Oil-Producing State, as FG's Inter-Agency Committee Submits Report to RMAFC

Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission has formally received the final report of the Federal Government’s Inter-Agency Committee on Nigeria’s Oil-Producing States, with Cross River State prominently projected to be re-listed as an oil-producing state.

The submission, made on Friday, February 13, 2026, at about 3:00 pm, marks what observers describe as a watershed moment in Nigeria’s fiscal federalism architecture and a potential economic renaissance for Cross River.

The report, covering the 2017–2025 nationwide verification of crude oil and gas coordinates, was presented to the Chairman of RMAFC, Mr. M. B. Shehu, by 10 members of the 14-man committee. The exercise, which ran from August 2025 to February 2026, involved extensive field verification, technical reconciliation of state submissions, and a final plenary plotting of coordinates at RMAFC headquarters between January 24 and 31, 2026. An independent media source monitoring proceedings at the Chairman’s office confirmed the submission and described it as “the most comprehensive coordinate verification undertaken in recent years.”

Commending the committee, Mr. Shehu reportedly described the assignment as “rigorous, technical and nationally significant,” adding that the painstaking verification of over 1,000 crude oil and gas coordinates across Nigeria demonstrated the Federal Government’s commitment to transparency and accuracy in revenue attribution. “This was not a desk exercise,” he was quoted as saying. “It involved physical verification, hydrographic validation, boundary reconciliation and security-backed confirmations across multiple states.”

The committee, according to an insider source, "reflected a broad institutional collaboration. It comprised representatives from RMAFC, the National Boundary Commission (NBC), the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGoF), the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), the Nigerian Hydrographic Agency, and relevant security agencies. Their mandate was clear: scientifically determine the precise location of oil and gas assets within Nigeria’s onshore and offshore boundaries."

Over a six-month period, the team visited more than 12 states, including Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Ondo, Imo, Anambra, Abia and Cross River. In the process, they verified over 1,000 new crude oil and gas coordinates based on confirmed onshore and offshore reservoir data. Findings from the report indicate that nearly all oil-producing states stand to benefit from new oil well attributions arising from the verified coordinates.

Several longstanding boundary overlaps were resolved through shared attributions, including Rivers–Akwa Ibom, Delta–Edo, Delta–Ondo, Imo–Rivers, Imo–Anambra and Akwa Ibom–Cross River. Sources familiar with the deliberations disclosed that “where geological reservoirs straddle boundaries, equity and technical evidence guided shared attributions rather than political considerations.”

Significantly for Cross River, technical projections in the report place the state in a strong position to regain oil-producing status with more than 100 producing oil wells from verified onshore and offshore reservoir coordinates—particularly from OML 114 located within its maritime territory. For the first time since 2008, Cross River is projected to be officially enlisted again as an oil-producing state, a development widely seen as vindication of years of advocacy and scientific revalidation.

Although Cross River submitted the highest number of surface coordinates—over 245—the implications of the 2012 Supreme Court judgment are expected to retain 76 oil wells in Akwa Ibom State pending further judicial interpretation. Even with these deductions, sources close to the verification process maintain that Cross River’s geological evidence was “compelling, empirical and beyond reasonable doubt.” One senior official was quoted as saying, “The science speaks for itself. The reservoirs do not lie. The coordinates verified clearly establish Cross River’s producing status.”

An Abuja-based fiscal expert noted, “is to separate administrative attribution from geological reality, and Cross River emerges strongly from that distinction.”

He noted that in May 2024, Cross River had earlier benefited from an Inter-Agency Committee report attributing 67 oil wells from OML 114 to the state, though implementation did not follow at the time. Fast forward to 2025, the state reportedly adopted a more robust scientific and geological framework, reinforcing its submissions with hydrographic and reservoir data that proved decisive in the latest verification.

The RMAFC Chairman is expecting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's assent for implementation of Inter Agency Technical Committee (IATC). Upon presidential approval for implementation, the RMAFC Board of Commissioners will convene a plenary session to approve the operational framework for implementing the new attributions and updating Nigeria’s official list of oil-producing states.

For Cross River, stakeholders say the development represents not merely administrative recognition, but “a restoration of economic justice, constitutional equity and historical truth.”

People whom historians identify as Fulani entered present-day Senegal from the north and east. It is certain that they were a mixture of peoples from northern and sub-Saharan Africa. These pastoral peoples tended to move in an eastern direction and spread over much of West Africa after the tenth century.

Their adoption of Islam increased the Fulanis' feeling of cultural and religious superiority to surrounding peoples, and that adoption became a major ethnic boundary marker. The Toroobe, a branch of the Fulani, settled in towns and mixed with the ethnic groups there. They quickly became noted as outstanding Islamic clerics, joining the highest ranks of the exponents of Islam, along with Berbers and Arabs. The Town Fulani (Fulbe Sirre) never lost touch with their Cattle Fulani relatives, however, often investing in large herds themselves. Cattle remain a significant symbolic repository of Fulani values.

Russian 'pick-up artist' accused of secretly filming women in Ghana

Ghana intends to request the extradition of a Russian man accused of illegally recording his sexual encounters with several women and sharing footage online without their consent.

African and Russian media identified him as a self-styled "pick-up artist" and online blogger in his 30s who had travelled to Ghana to secretly film his interactions with women.

Outlets in both countries claimed the man used a pair of sunglasses fitted with a camera to film some encounters and circulated them on social media, though officials did not confirm this.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday, Sam George, Ghana's technology minister, said he had invited the Russian ambassador to discuss the alleged incident.

Earlier, Ghana's Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection said an initial investigation had established the suspect had likely left the country.

It added that did "not reduce the seriousness of the alleged conduct or the state's responsibility to pursue accountability".

George said he had asked the Russian ambassador in the capital city Accra for Moscow's cooperation in getting justice for the victims.

However, Russia does not extradite its citizens, except in extreme circumstances.

The minister told BBC News: "I have invited the Russian ambassador in Ghana for a meeting.

"The actions of the Russian citizen flout our cyber-security laws. I will officially indicate to the ambassador our official position."

Earlier, he told reporters: "That gentleman will be looked for, we will activate every resource in our disposal working with Interpol.

"We will request the Russian authorities – and that is why I have invited the Russian ambassador – to work with our law enforcement.

"We want the gentleman to be brought back to Ghana, extradited to Ghana for him to face the rigours of our law."

George said they would try the suspect in absentia if he failed to return to Ghana.

Local media report the same man had been involved in similar illegal acts in Kenya.

Under Ghana's Cybersecurity Act 2020, anyone who publishes explicit images of children or adults without full consent can face up to 25 years in prison.

Authorities in Ghana have been paying increasing attention to online abuse, including sexual extortion and romance scams.

There has been an increase in arrests in recent years for these offences.

In 2022, a court sentenced a 22-year-old phone repairer, Solomon Doga, to 14 years in prison for sharing nude images of a Lebanese woman.

He pleaded guilty to sexual extortion and non-consensual sharing of intimate images.

Ghana also introduced new laws under the Cybersecurity Act 2020 to punish those who share nude photos or videos online, especially of women and children, often for revenge or blackmail.

Those Ghanaiangirls with their FAKE HALOS would wish the ground to swallow them up after seeing the video leaks. Imaging falling so cheaply for a White Russian in just 1 week of his stay in Ghana. The Nigerian girls and others are largely not BETTER than those Ghananian girls. Period.

Osun is majority Christian. More than half of the population is in Ife Ijesa and the zone is majority Christian. The other zones still have Christians. In the nineteenth century there were many Muslims in Yoruba land but nowadays we have more Christians including hundreds of thousands bearing Muslim names. The SW is clearly majority Christian nowadays. The NC too is majority Christian. Benue, Plateau and Kogi are mainly Christian with Benue and Plateau almost 100 percent The NW will struggle to have ninety percent Muslim because of Kaduna while the NE may have a slight majority of Muslim. The SE and SS are more than ninety percent Christian. However the NW population maybe up to the NE and NC combined while the SW population is also up to SE and SS combined.
What you wrote is partly historically incorrect BECAUSE I have access to historical census materials from the Colonial era showing that as of the 1950s, Yorubaland had more Muslims and adherents of Ifa (or the Yoruba religion) than the Christians.

Even the maps showing the demographic distribution of Muslims, adherents of the indigenous religions, and Christians in the North Central of Nigeria were CLEARLY shown
.

The Western half of the Middle Belt had distinctively more Muslims and adherents of the indigenous religions than the Eastern half of the Middle Belt of Nigeria however had more Christians and traditionalists with the sprinkling of Muslims in the Adamawa Province area.

The 1891 Colonial census of of Isale Eko (Lagos) showed that Muslims and adherents of the Yoruba religion were far more than the Xtians who were LARGELY made up of Yoruba returnees (due to the trans-Atlantic enslavements) from Sierra Leone, Brazil, Cuba, United States via Liberia like the Vaughan family of Egba origin, etc. Many subgroups of Yorubas were listed as residents of Isale Eko as of 1891 such as Ekiti, Ijesa, Aworis, Oyos, Ijebus, Owus, etc. The Ilaje-Yoruba folks were NOT listed including the Ijaws who are falsifying history on the useless INC we site by claiming irresponsiblt that Ijaws are indigenous to Lagos.

Even the slave revolts in Bahia in Brazil was named the "Male Slave" revolt in the early 1800s and it was LARGELY led by Yoruba Moslems joined by Muslims from other West African ethnicities. The name "Male" Slave revolt comes from the Yoruba term for Muslims called "Imale." So, Islam has been in Yorubaland for 500 years in the Oyo Empire with Iwo having the FIRST EVER mosque built in the entire Yorubaland.

Exactly. Pa Awo's combination with Phillip Umeadi was set to defeat Shagari in 79 had Ziks not been on the ballot.
Well said.

That's historically TRUE. Zik was a spoiler in that Presidential contest because there was NO way in hell that he would have won that election.
