Hundreds of projects remained incomplete or have not commenced despite budgetary allocations, the report stated.

The 2024/2025 project tracking report released on Thursday by Tracka, BudgIT’s citizen-led monitoring platform, showed that 92 federal government-funded projects worth N15.07 billion were fraudulently delivered, while hundreds of others remain incomplete or have not commenced despite budgetary allocations.

The report said it monitored 2,760 projects across 28 states.

According to the findings, only 1,438 of the tracked projects were completed, 660 were ongoing, 471 were not executed, and 99 were abandoned.

The report stated that the 92 fraudulently delivered projects were characterised by fund diversion, relocation of projects to unintended locations, payments for projects already executed in previous budget cycles, partial completion, or substandard execution.

Tracka identified Imo, Lagos, Kwara, Abia and Ogun as states with the highest concentration of such fraudulent projects.

The report, however, highlighted 15 success stories in which citizen engagement helped drive project delivery. These include the revitalisation of Kaida Sabo Primary Healthcare Centre, renovation works at Nawairudeen Primary School in Plateau State, completion of a previously stalled healthcare centre in Ikirun, empowerment programmes for persons with disabilities in Katsina, erosion control projects in Rivers State and borehole projects in Akwa Ibom.

My Takes:

The intelligence agencies and the EFCC should investigate this report from BudgIt, and if true get those who were given monies to execute the projects arrested. IRRESPONSIBLE behavior MUST NEVER be allowed as this behavior of NOT completing government projects for years has gone on since the days of Military rule especially from the IBB and Abacha years when a lot of corruption took place.

The Ikere Gorge Dam in Oyo State for instance was started by former President Shehu Shagari in 1981 to provide hydro-electricity, portable water to as far as Lagos State and dry-season irrigation farming for the benefit of the South West and Nigeria, yet the military dictatorships and even Obasanjo's 2-term civilian administration abandoned it. Even the imported turbines from Germany were abandoned to rot away. Kudos to President 'Bola Tinubu of Nigeria who has just approved a PPP (Public-Private partnership) to complete that important Ikere Gorge hydro dam in Oyo State. So, the citizens MUST indeed monitor every funded project to make sure they are completed. That's the way it's done all over the world.

While I support sanitising that environment, because too much junks from abroad in that area, but everywhere in Lagos is terrible in terms of refuse dumping. Lawma services are overwhelmed and the so called PSP are no where to be found. Lagos is very dirty. Drive through everywhere, everywhere is littered.

This was one area where ambode and fashola really tried. But now, seems sanwolu government doesn't really care much. If not, they would have sanctioned all those psp owners that fail to function well.
And If state government cannot handle that, they should channel it to the local government. Let them take control of that. Lagos stinks and smells for now, don't let us lie to ourselves.

On the contrary, former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode didn't do well in that area. Remember that he wanted to use a new modern system with a White man in charge for clearing refuse in Lagos State with Ikorodu being the central hub, BUT that system collapsed due to the FACT that the PSPs were disengaged and Lagos State became the butt of jokes online BECAUSE Lagos was embarrassingly littered with mountains of stinking refuse.

Akinwunmi Ambode meant well BUT that public waste system collapsed and that's why APC's GAC and MOST APC Lagos members blocked his re-election. Babatunde Raji-Fashola did brilliantly well in sanitizing Oshodi and planted beautiful flowers, trees to have a proper landscaping of Lagos. This current Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu who I like for his policies in some areas in Lagos State has totally NOT done well in sustaining Babatunde Raji-Fashola's landscaping and greening of Lagos despite being a brilliant investment banker who rose to the senior rank of a Treasurer. He has to sit up with his Commissioner of Environmental or get him removed as a Commissioner!

Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has to get his Commissioner of Environmental FIRED if he CANNOT come up with creative ways of clearing refuse BECAUSE the population in Lagos State is massive with refuse generated daily through innovative methods already in use around the world.

Some of us WITHOUT being in government have advanced knowledge of waste disposal in Asia, Europe, and North America. For instance:

The use of public Biogas toilets can generate electricity and cooking gas. This biogas technology can be used in homes, prisons, and Nigerian markets to process huge wastes especially from some of those dirty markets. Biogas from market wastes can be used to generate electricity from generators. I saw a few years ago a pilot biogas project at Mile 12 market and it successfully turned market wastes to biogas for use to generate electricity.

Even organic fertilizers can be generated from waste instead of allowing them to litter the streets. Houses can be fitted with biogas toilets as well so that the residents can use the biogas from their loos for cooking gas and electricity.

This isn't rocket science but Nigeria has a bunch of Governors and Commissioners who are NOT very imaginative or have a sense of urgency.

I propose that anybody planning to contest for the post of a Governor or Commissioner in Nigeria MUST be properly drilled in public debates on how they would deal with urban refuse disposal in a practical manner. The idea of Governors just coming in and NOT having practical solutions on how urban refuse or public wastes will be tackled has to STOP! Some lazy people too are highly notorious for dumping house wastes and refuse right at the center of road and highway medians in Ogun, Lagos, Nassarawa, Anambra, Aba especially in Abia State, and practically all over Nigeria as seen in videos and photographs posted online. This destroys the aesthetics of these areas. Traps should be set for these creeps and they should be made to do 2 weeks or more of community service by clearing up urban wastes and drainages. Period.

Indeed, the United States has advanced knowledge of what's going on for years in West Africa and the United States and her European allies such as France are responsible for the emergence of insecurity in the West African Sahel region due to their removal and elimination of the former Linyan leader Muamar Gaddafi. This led to a deeper Civil War in Libya and the spread of weapons from Libya into the West African black market and into the hands of jihadi groups who ALSO now use surveillance drones purchased from illicit funds from their terror attacks. American TV show host Tony Perkins has revealed that First Lady Remi Tinubu approached him to discuss religious freedom issues in Nigeria, but he rejected her request because he does not want his platform used to cover up for happenings in Nigeria.

Mr Smith was speaking about President Bola Tinubu’s government denying the killing of Christians in Nigeria and yet hiring American lobbyists to downplay the issue when Mr Perkins revealed Mrs Tinubu approached him to be featured on his platform.

“The First Lady of Nigeria was here this week, and in fact, they wanted to come on the programme to talk about religious freedom, and I said, ‘I’m not gonna meet with them or have a meeting with anybody,'” Mr Perkins said.

The broadcast journalist added, “I’m not gonna give them a platform to cover up what they’re doing in Nigeria.”

The first lady did not immediately respond to Peoples Gazette’s request for comments.

Mrs Tinubu visited the U.S. and attended the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday. Her presence was recognised at the event by President Donald Trump, a development that pro-Tinubu supporters celebrated as a major diplomatic win for the Nigerian government amid pressure from the U.S. government.

Mr Tinubu has been under pressure from the American government since Mr Trump declared Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern over the alleged killing of Christians in November.

The first lady’s visit came months after Mr Tinubu splashed millions of dollars on Republican lobbyists to burnish his tainted reputation in Washington following Mr Trump’s 2025 remarks denouncing Nigeria as “a disgrace” under his leadership.

The Nigeria and United States Military forces cooperation is the FIRST step to ending the deadlier JNIM jihadist insurgencies in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger Republic. A lot of uninformed people do NOT even realize that the Tuareg-led JNIM jihadi group with headquarters in Mali is far deadlier than BH and ISWAP which are operating in the Lake Chad Region. Aside from the money got from zakat donations which these jihadi groups get from the Muslim faithfuls, and funds from crimes such as hard drugs trafficking and kidnappings, the Arab Gulf states of the UAE, Oman, Qatar, etc, are CLEARLY one of the major sources of funding for these jihadi terror groups for protection against from attacks on their home soils by these jihadists such as Al-Qaeda, ISIS, and their deadly satellites and affiliates operating in Somalia as Al-Shaabab, in the West African Sahel region such as the JNIM jihadi group operating with their headquarters in Mali with more than half of Burkina Faso and Niger Republic already in the hands of JNIM. JNIM poses a BIGGER threat to Northern Nigeria and is even deadlier than BH and the breakaway jihadi faction of BH named ISWAP in the Lake Chad Region.

The highly IRRESPONSIBLE JNIM jihadi terror group is led by Tuaregs who worked for Muamar Gaddafi before he was taken down by French military forces and Libya caved into a Civil War. More than half of Mali is already in the hands of JNIM jihadists since the Russians got involved and the Westerners were expelled. The Tuaregs were originally fighting for a separate country of their own in Northern Mali and parts of Niger Republic.

So, the presence of the United States Military forces and indeed the whole world is needed to eliminate these jihadi terror groups from the West African Sahel region and also the foreign Fula militia bandits and the Tuareg-led Lakurawa bandits terrorizing Nigerian communities. This is NOT a battle for Nigeria alone due to the porous borders in all African countries. I give kudos to the gallant Nigerian Military forces so far because if NOT for them, Nigeria would have been completely overun by the jihadis. Advanced satellite tracking technologies, attack and surveilance drones including sonic weapons from the United States are the highly expensive but advanced weapons needed to defeat these jihadi groups.

That's highly impressive. This Channels Television video of the Ogbese Dam located in Ekiti South of Ekiti State is relatively recent and it's completion was due for 2025. It's good that abandoned projects around Nigeria are being completed instead of starting new ones. That's financial prudence. Kudos to the FG under President 'Bola Tinubu and his team.

I CLEARLY stated in my post that Dennis Rodman played "around the same time" that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson played in the NBA and that's a historical FACT.

Though younger like you accurately stated, Dennis had started playing in the NBA from 1986 BEFORE Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson retired in 1989 and 1991 respectively. Magic Johnson made a comeback later in the 1990s though before he retired again. Our Lagos State-born OG, the great 3-time NBA MPV winner, Hakeem Olajuwon too started playing basketball in the early 1980s. It was Hakeem Olajuwon who made Houston, Texas more popular with Nigerian immigrants through his iconic Houston Rockets success story. Nigerian immigrants majorly liked to migrate to and live on the East and West Coasts of the United States but with Hakeem and the emerging oil industry in TX, folks started moving to Houston more than ever before.

As an OG as well, I watched and followed basketball with intensity right from the early 1980s and I don't like to post what I don't know (or any misleading information online). There's really NOTHING new here. For centuries, women have NEVER loved soft men. They've always craved for a bit of drama in their lives, otherwise the relationship would be boring. That's the way they are naturally wired... They subliminally crave for some resistance and headwinds. Women are subconsciously solution providers as well seeking to improve on problems and situations in their lives and that of those around them.

Shettima stressed that the success of the National Halal Economy Strategy would depend on disciplined, inclusive, and measurable implementation, particularly in delivering jobs and expanding export opportunities.

“It is with this sense of responsibility that I formally unveil the Nigeria National Halal Economy Strategy. This document is a declaration of our promise to meet global standards with Nigerian capacity and to convert opportunity into lasting economic value," he said.
He added that the next phase of the strategy must translate policy into action that drives shared prosperity across the country.

“What follows must be action that is disciplined, inclusive, and measurable, so that this Strategy delivers jobs, exports, and shared prosperity across our nation,” the Vice President stated.
Shettima also disclosed that the implementation of the National Halal Economy Strategy will be chaired by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole.

This Chinese airport project was built on wet sand and marine sludge ["soft sea bed"] far into the ocean to create a big island and they thought they had all the engineering sorted out. A hard ocean bed would have been BETTER. The Japanese are also facing this kind of situation with a sinking artificial island.

Second, the Eko Atlantic City project (which is a PPP between the Lagos State Government led by the now President 'Bola Tinubu when he was the Lagos State Governor and the Lebanese-Nigerian-owned Chagoury Group) is however built on much much harder sea bed. It's actually a reclamation of the eroded land that once existed back in the 1950s to the 1980s before climate change led to a rise in global water levels from the melting ice in the North Pole. Then from the 1990s, the former Bar Beach (now part of Eko Atlantic City) and the entire Victoria Island and environs began to experience massive annual floodings of near-apocalyptic proportions. With Victoria Island gone, Ikoyi Island and Lagos Island would have been the NEXT to get submerged and destroyed by the raging Atlantic Ocean just like what several communities in the Ilaje areas of Ondo, the Itsekiri areas of Delta, the Ijaw areas of Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom States are experiencing right now from the raging Atlantic Ocean.

That's a very expensive airport built at a cost of 15billion USD. If there's no remedy to salvage the situation, that would show that Chinese construction technology is NOT infallible with the recent collapse of bridges in China as well.
