Lukuluku69:
Absolutely Sir!

Your position is actually in agreement with what history taught and not a Revisionist attempt as we have seen in public domain because of the exploits of some Fula Elements.

I was telling a member of our my mosque that it wasn't the Fulanis or Hausa that brought Islam to Yorubaland and it was as if I was talking Rocket Science!

The same way Islam got to the North was the same way it got to the South and I would assume that because of proximity of the Mali, Chad and Niger( the Powerful Kingsoms of that earlier times) made Islam to get to the North before it reaches Yorubaland, through the Traders and itinerary Dervishes roaming the West African cities and towns. The only difference was that, we have one crazed enough to actually put plans to work and try to take by force and overthrow the indigenous Hausa Habe Kingdoms hence the proclamations of Islam as the State Religion in the North.

I was taught the stories of Bayajida in Primary School of his Banza bakwa and the other legitimate bakwas (lol) in these stories you will find that the Kanuris, Nupes and some other were classified as Banza bakwa ( a deliberate slur at the ethnicity because they are nor Fulanis or pure Fulanis)

That said, I have never liked the exploits these Fulanis nomads (some who are actually animists in their ways but because the refined city dwelling Fulanis have always see and used them in their expansionist tendencies, they always excused and turn a blind eye to their murderous ways.

I would have love for the Muslims in the south to have a Political figure they can look up to but alas, there is non and in that, the Sultan is in a position to full that position.

He is the Sultan of Sokoto first then an the Amir of the Faithfuls in the Nigeria Space. I find it funny that people who mock the Muslims in everything they do and noe the one telling them who should and shouldn't lead them.
@Lukuluku69,

I want you to watch this historically revealing video of a very vocal young Hausa woman right BELOW to get a hang of what is going on as of 2025/2026 among the Hausas (Hausawas) who are revolting against the foreign Fula apartheid system in Hausaland. It's time to dismantle that insidious Fula structure right in the Hausa States right into Kwara and the Nigerian political ecosystem.

PoliticsRe: Ex-NDLF Commander Debunks Claim, Says Late Togo Not Founder Of Militant Group by AlphaTaikun:
ogugwa1992:
Former NDLF Commander Debunks Claim, Says Late John Togo Not Founder Of Militant Group

A former commander of the defunct Niger Delta Liberation Force (NDLF) has said that the late General John Togo was not the founder of the militant organisation.

General Julius Wilson, popularly known as General Mabeke, has broken years of silence to set the record straight about the true founding of the NDLF, claiming that High Chief Sobomabo Jackrich, aka Egberipapa, a Rivers State-based former militant leader, was the original founder of the group.

In an interview, Mabeke dismissed as false the circulating narratives on blogs and social media that the late General John Togo, the Ayakoromo-born leader, founded the NDLF.

"That is a big lie from the pit of hell. While I do not intend to delve into their assumptions, it became expedient that I put the records straight for people to know the true story," he said.

Mabeke, who claims to be one of the founding members of the group, provided a detailed account of how the NDLF came into existence, dating back to their time in prison.

"The late General John Togo was my bosom friend. Myself, the late Austin Abai who was the commander, the late Endurance and the late Kirsten were the people who invited the late John Togo to our clique at Ogbokone community in Warri during the Itshekiri-Ijaw Crisis to join us," he explained.

According to Mabeke also known as Julius Wilson posted what happened on his Facebook page “Julius Wilson” he noted that the group later visited High Chief Sobomabo Jackrich's camp in Rivers State, where the NDLF was actually born.

"We visited High Chief Soboma Jackrich, General Egberipapa's Camp in Rivers State. Myself, Hon. Julius Wilson aka Mabeke, John Togo, Peter Bighead and later Jerry were the people that visited General Egberipapa," Mabeke recounted.

He said that because of the close relationship between John Togo and High Chief Jackrich, they used to call themselves husband and wife whenever they met, as they were like an inseparable couple.

According to him, it was during this visit that the late John Togo indicated interest in joining the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), but was surprised by Jackrich's response.

"Surprisingly, High Chief said he is not doing that. That he has his own group and the name is Niger Delta Liberation Force. We saw the flag of his camp with plenty of soldiers already on ground," Mabeke stated.

He further revealed that Jackrich equipped them with substantial resources before they left Rivers State.

"He gave the late John Togo a brand new merchandise as at then worth over ₦10 million and some logistics before we left Rivers State. General Egberipapa declared the late John Togo 2nd in command and not John Togo being leader," he said.

Mabeke challenged the timeline of the narrative that John Togo founded the group, pointing out that they were incarcerated at the time.

"The question is, as at 2005 when the NDLF was founded, we were all locked up in Okere Prison. Does it mean it was founded while in prison without my knowledge?

"So no one should come online to dispense false stories they know nothing about. The defunct Niger Delta Liberation Force was founded by High Chief Egberipapa of Rivers State," Mabeke said.

The revelation adds a new dimension to the complex history of militancy in the Niger Delta, where several groups emerged in the early 2000s to agitate for resource control and greater development of the oil-rich region.

High Chief Sobomabo Jackrich, also known as Egberipapa, has since transitioned from militancy to politics and community development.

According to a September 2024 report by Vanguard, Jackrich is now the founder of the Rivers Grassroots Movement (RGM) and has been commended for his commitment to good governance and development in Rivers State and the Niger Delta region.

Jackrich has been described as walking "the path of great leaders like Adaka Boro, Chiefs Harold Dappa Biriye, Chief Edwin Clark and other prominent Ijaw leaders who literally lived their lives agitating for a Niger Delta where its rich oil and gas resources will translate into meaningful development for the people."

The late General John Togo, who according to Mabeke was appointed as the 2nd in command of the NDLF, was killed in May 2011 during a military operation by the Joint Task Force. Some sources suggest his location may have been betrayed by local informants.

...says Jackrich founded the group in 2005

So, that highly IRRESPONSIBLE one-eyed Ijaw guy named John Togo is dead?

It's good riddance to NONSENSE because he (John Togo) was heavily involved in several cases of armed robberies and sexual assaults of women in the Delta State waterways with his gang members before that so-called Niger Delta amnesty program kicked in.

Update: On further online Investigations, I just found out that this despicable John Togo )who I FIRST read about back in the late 2000s in a Vanguard newspaper publication for being a serial sex offender and criminal who robbed and killed people going to the markets in boats in the Delta State creeks) got killed by Nigerian Air Force jet bombardments of his so-called militant hideout or camp in 2011. Kudos to the Nigerian Air Force on that success story. The then highly notorious pipeline vandal and crude oil thief called Government Ekpemupolo (Tompo) was nearly wiped out during the former President Yar'Adua's Presidency when the infamous "Camp 5" in Gbaramatu where Tompolo was hiding like a coward was massively bombarded after Tompolo and his boys killed several army personnel.

IslamRe: Ramadan 2026: Sultan Of Sokoto Asks Muslims To Search For The Moon Tonight by AlphaTaikun: 10:08pm On Feb 21
Lukuluku69:
Sir, Sultan simply means the Sovereign and Emir is derived from the Arabic word Amir, which simply means Leader. Also clipped from the Title of the Four Rightly Guided Khalifa "Amir Al-Muimeen (Leader of the Faithfuls.

Dithering to the Sultan when it comes to Political Islam is actually Islamic in the context of the Nigerian Space. Remember, I told you that Islam says that even when you are just TWO in a Space, appoint a Leader. In the Nigerian Space, the Sultan is the only Sovereign that fits to be properly addressed as such. That doesn't mean the Yorubas are under him or tale authority from him. His proclamations, as regards the commencement of Ramadan, are only for unity and synergy. Nothing more, as a matter of fact, if he erred in that, he will answer for it before God!

Now coming back to the supposition that Nigeria can break, and what becomes of the Yoruba Muslims in terms of Leadership, well I can tell you that, what you will have is a void and that can be filled by the Scholars but not a single individual as in the case of the Sultan

Recently, the Oba at Iwo was of the opinion that he can assume the title of Sultan of Yoruba Land (or something in that line) what now happens when he passes and a Christian becomes the Oba at Iwo? Would he still be a Muslim Leader?

And let me quickly correct a notion, sir. Islam has been in the North way before it got down south because those who spread it actually passed thru the Sahel en route to South West Nigeria. Uthman Fodio jihad only made it a State Religion, something no Cleric/Dervish ever attempted in the South West.

I understand people's angst against some Fula elements in Nigeria. I feel their hagemony in the Nigera Space is nauseating to say the least that happens because the British lump us all together. They fused at least 4-5 Nations into one and I can tell you that what we accuse the Fulanis of, the other major tribes in Nigeria would do same if they have the power to do so.

This is Islam, my prayers, my fast, my Zakats etc is for God and not for any Sultan or Alfa. His Leadership is just symbolic.

And many thanks on the good wish Sir!
I appreciate your brilliant feedback. Your reference that in Islam, even if it's just 2 people that are together, there MUST be a leader is deeply insightful. I NEVER knew that such instruction exists until you mentioned it in your post. Back in the early 1980s, I started to watch Sheikh Ahmad Deedat's (he was a Muslim of Indian origin) comparative religion conversations on TV and read books from the Ahmadiya folks of which the Sheikh belonged.

Yes, Islam has been in the North of Nigeria like you said especially in the Kanuriland areas of modern Borno and Chad Republic (where it was strong) and later the Hausalands, where some of the Sarkis or indigenous Kings (before the armed Fula invasion of 1804) usually adopted Islam. However, the Hausa folks on the street level who were NOT of royal stock usually followed the indigenous Hausa religion.

Indeed, historically, Islam FIRST made peaceful inroads into Yorubaland (Oyo Empire) over 500 years ago from Mali Empire, hence the name Yorubas gave to the religion was "Esin Imale" or the "religion of Mali." Iwo in Osun State ended up having the oldest mosque in the entire Yorubaland as told by the Oluwo of Iwo in an interview he granted when he newly got turbaned in Iwo as an Oba. Yoruba traders from the Oyo Empire engaged in long-distance trading selling commodities such as kolanuts, peppers and more as far as Timbuktu, Ashanti Empire I. modern Ghana, and with the Hausa city states where horses were imported (for the Oyo Empire's military cavalry) to Yorubaland thru the Nupe country. So, Yorubas started having contacts with Islam centuries back especially through peaceful long-distance traders contrary to some uninformed posters online who incorrectly think it was the so-called Fula jihad that brought Islam to Yorubaland. I have had to correct some IRRESPONSIBLE and insidious posters here who were taunting Yorubas with that fake historical narrative.

It's NOT surprising that it was Yoruba Muslims who led the slave revolt officially named "Male Revolt" in Bahia, Brazil in the 1800s aided by other Muslims from West African ethnicities who were Muslims). The name "Male" is derived from the word "Imale" which Yorubas used to describe the religion of the Muslims. That's a testament to how Islam had made powerful inroads into Yorubaland for our forebears to have led a slave revolt in Bahia, Brazil in the early 1800s because the Brazilian slave overlords prevented them from doing the Muslim prayers as and when due.

That slave revolt also led Brazil to deport many of the Muslims back to Africa (Ghana and Nigeria especially) after executing some of the leaders of the revolt who were tried for treason. That slave revolt in Bahia also hastened the move by the Brazilian authorities to end the slave trade in the late 1800s.

In rounding off, I don't think the Oluwo of Iwo has the "candor and emotional intelligence" to play the role of an Emir which he suggested in a viral publication some years back. He's unfortunately too controversial. Then, the one major reason why a detest the Fula agenda is that non-Muslim Fula mercenaries were used to fight alongside Fulas who claimed they were Muslims. That was a total act of deception while hiding under the cover of Islam. Then the history books ALSO state that as of that 1800s, the Hausas who joined in the Fula wars started regretting doing so because the foreign Fulas started taking women forcibly from among the Hausa while imposing heavy taxes and Jizyas on the peasants and people of Hausaland while engaging in the slave trade especially depopulating the current Bauchi area of the indigenous people who lived there who were sold into the trans-Saharan slave trade leading to North Africa, the Ottoman Empire and as far as Oman.

Lukuluku69:
I am well aware of my history and their history. The issues here are many and I can confidently tell you that all of us have that stain in our past.

That the Uthman Dan Fodio puritan Jihad took no prisoners in their march is well known to.me for I have read myriad of accounts detailing such.

That of course are the way of Puritans. They see others as sub humans in their holier than thou pedestal.

That said, this same can be said for every other Puritans that have ever waged a war or spearhead a revolution. That I am aware of.

I have read how the British sold Irish men into slavery, deliberately stood by and watch them starve to death! Thousands died why plenty were seen on the street of London.

I am also aware that some Yoruba Muslims are against the Sultan seemingly hegemony on every other Muslims in the Nigerian Space. That I am aware of but sir do you know why I don't tale them serious? Every Region are ably represented in the Moon Sighting Committee and aside the usual tough one of the Ramadan Crescent, that same Committee have been in charge of the sighting of the other Eleven Lunar months and you never hear any objections from anyone. So, why only this particular one?

There are two things here basically, Islam says in any entity, you must have a Leader even if you are just TWO in number, appoint a Leader! Says Islam.

Who amongst the Yoruba Obas can be solely trust to be A Leader in the Nigerian space for the Yoruba? We have been told they are Custodians of the Yoruba People Heritage which I know is bot Islamic. So, how can they lead?

I don't actually see anything wrong with the proclamations of the Sultan for the commencement of Ramadan when a National moon sighting Committee comprising every Muslims in Nigeria.
You've added extra layers of information to your post and I get a hang of more of your engaging perspectives here which I read 3 times. I'm not a Muslim but I have family members who are and I've read books on comparative religion starting from decades back in order to learn to understand and appreciate different world faiths.

"However, do Yoruba Muslim folks require a leader among the Yoruba Obas? I don't think so since Obaship is LARGELY not an Islamic royal title. Only the Oluwo of Iwo in Osun State and the Olu of Epe representing the Eko Epe folks of Epe in Lagos State are turbaned NOT coronated Islamically during installation as Kings in the entire Yorubaland.

Why NOT choose a LEADER among your capable Islamic clerics from Yorubaland which stretches from Nigeria right into Benin and Togo. Yorubas MUST never be subservient to NOBODY. That's why the see-finish comes in and foreign Fula bandits eliminate folks of different ethnic groups in Nigeria (including the indigenous Hausas who own the land).
The title Sultan or Amir (Emir) are more of religious titles and so, a respected Islamic cleric can become the LEADER since Yorubas have the second largest Muslim population in Nigeria after Hausaland. The Kanuris come third in population as Muslims.

I'm saying this in case of for the scenario when Yorubaland and the rest of Nigeria will NO more be together as one country just like the former USSR, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, North and South Sudan, etc, went there own ways.
Will the Yoruba Ummah continue to look up to the minority Fula guy in Hausaland (Sokoto) who calls himself a Sultan despite the fact that Islam has been in Yorubaland for over 500 years long before Usman Danfodio's great-grandfather was even born? Strategic or long-term thinking is key when one understands the intrigues in global geopolitical dynamics. Those are just my brutally honest thoughts in these changing times we are in.

I wish you a Happy Ramadan.

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, working alongside local vigilantes and hunters, have neutralised a top Boko Haram commander and arrested a suspected drone and logistics supplier in separate but coordinated operations in Madagali Local Government Area.

SaharaReporters gathered that on Thursday, troops engaged suspected Boko Haram fighters during an ambush along the Visik River line.

The encounter resulted in the death of Abdullahi Mafa, a former hybrid commander notorious for orchestrating attacks in the Madagali council area.

A security analyst, Zagazola Makama, confirmed that later, around 6:30pm, troops carried out a raid at Madagali Motor Park, arresting 64-year-old Dauda Usman Gubula, a suspected Boko Haram collaborator and drone supplier.

Authorities recovered two aerial drones and 20 solar power banks from the suspect.

Officials stated that Gubula is currently in custody undergoing investigation, while military operations in the area continue to disrupt Boko Haram networks and restore stability to the region.

Ghanaian authorities have revealed the identity of the man accused of secretly recording intimate encounters with Kenyan and other African women without their consent as 36-year-old Russian national Vladislav Luilkov.

The government released the suspect’s passport details and has initiated international legal processes to ensure he faces charges once he leaves Russia.

Russian authorities had earlier dismissed a different name circulating online, saying it did not match any known citizen. The alias widely shared on social media—"Yaytseslav," described as a pickup artist from Ulyanovsk—has since been confirmed to be fake.

Ghanaian officials say they are pursuing legal avenues abroad, as Russia does not extradite its citizens to face prosecution in foreign countries.

PoliticsRe: Epstein, Ehud Barak Exploit Nigeria Insurgency To Push Surveillance, Oil Deals by AlphaTaikun: 11:04pm On Feb 20
dre11:
Report: How Epstein, ex-Israeli PM exploited Nigeria insurgency to push surveillance, oil deals

by Claire Mom

Ehud Barak, a former prime minister of Israel
Jeffrey Epstein, American financier and child sex offender, worked with former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak to profit from the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria, a Drop Site News (DSN) investigation relays.

Email exchanges released by the US Justice Department from 2018 showed how Epstein facilitated talks between Jide Zeitlin, then-chair of Nigeria’s Sovereign Investment Fund; and Sultan Ahmad bin Sulayem, former chairman of DP World, a United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based logistics giant.

Epstein died in a New York jail in 2019.

PROPOSED OIL DEALS

Part of the talks were centred on how Zeitlin could wield his influence in Nigeria to help Sulayem secure possible shipping terminals in Lagos and Badagry after talks with previous Nigerian presidents, since 2005, had led nowhere.

DP World was reluctant to invest in an industrial zone in Nigeria unless they could own the surrounding port outright.

Sulayem resigned from DP World on February 13 after his relationship with Epstein became public knowledge.

Epstein corresponded almost daily with Barak who worked tirelessly to grow an Israeli-Nigeria security relationship.

Epstein quietly began helping Barak leverage his security ties in Nigeria to set up energy investments for his friends in Israel — after Barak resigned as Israeli defence minister in 2013.

SPY TECH

Epstein explored other ways of penetrating Nigeria.

“We should think about the growing emerging role of cards and phones in economic exchange and the future of money,” Barnaby Marsh, an investment advisor and friend of Epstein, told him after the financier sent a snippet of “Tale of the Slave” to him.

Marsh also shared an article on the use of electronic identity cards and biometric databases in Nigeria.

In 2015, Barak and a business partner invested $15 million in FST Biometrics, a firm founded by Aharon Ze’evi Farkash, former head of Israeli military intelligence.

The company’s core technology, a biometric system known as Basel, was deployed at the crossing between Israel and Gaza to control the movement of Palestinian workers.

While the Nigerian military battled Boko Haram, Barak facilitated the sale of similar biometric surveillance equipment to Babcock University and framed it as a counter-terrorism measure to deter the Islamist extremists from attacking the Christian institution.

The technology was also touted as a way for African governments to control movement of populations at scale, with Israeli intelligence firms marketing the security architecture as “field-proven”.

The security cooperation offered an appealing way for Barak and Epstein to generate cash from chaos in Nigeria, while also promoting the political interests of the Israeli government, the DSN investigation noted.

In 2020, the World Bank subsidised a partnership with the Israel National Cyber Directorate and Toka Group, another ex-intelligence startup co-founded by Barak, to work directly on Nigeria’s national cybersecurity infrastructure.

The released emails showed that the security deals were only a cover for Barak to access Nigeria’s rich petroleum resources, with Epstein’s steady guidance.

Meanwhile in 2013, Nigerian legislators learned of a secret $40 million intelligence contract awarded by then President Goodluck Jonathan to Elbit Systems, an Israeli military technology giant, to develop online spying infrastructure.

The country’s house of representatives threatened to shut it down.

Barak later received an invitation to speak at a cybersecurity conference in Abuja, in September of the same year, two weeks after Epstein made an impromptu five-day trip to Africa.

Nigerian media urged speedy passage of a pending Cybercrime Bill, a comprehensive legal framework for online surveillance, after the house of representatives voted to suspend Elbit’s contract.

Two days after the cybersecurity conference, the senate voted to advance the bill.

Barak was prime minister of Israel from 1999 to 2001.

Thank you for this. (For those who want to troll)

I have always known that the Secretary General position is always reserved for the Southern Muslims( the Yorubas being the largest of this group in Nigeria)

Thank you once again.

I am Yoruba and a Muslim, I subscribed to the Sultan being the Leader of the Faithfuls than any Yoruba Oba when the matter being discussed is Islam.
As a Yoruba man that you emphasize that you are, you have to detach yourself from this Fula hegemony. I will explain why below.

The Fulas are a minority in Africa of about 20 million (with Yorubas being over 80 million approx) and haven't lived up to the expectations because they have relentlessly overlooked the pains other ethnic groups went after being killed for decades by foreign Fula militia bandits with this same Sultan of Sakwato (Sokoto) being one of the grand patrons of the insidious Miyetti Allah. NO disrespect to your current faith as a member of the Muslim Ummah.
The Hausas are already pulling themselves off the Fula yoke on their Hausa ancestral homelands as can be seen in several videos online.

Second, during the Fula jihad of 1803 onwards, I'm aware from reading archival historical materials that the Fulas captured people who were already Muslims in Kanuri and Hausaland and sold them into slavery across the Sahara desert and the Atlantic Ocean. Many Kanuris such as Ali Eisami were captured and sold off which is anti-Islamic because Muslims are NOT allowed to enslave their fellow Muslims.

Ali Eisami told a German linguist (Koehler) in Sierra Leone (the same way Ajayi Crowther was rescued from that Portuguese slave ship in the early 1800s) in the 1800s after he and others were rescued by the British Navy Patrol Squadrons sailing off the West African coast, that it was Fulas who captured him in Kanuriland and sold him and other Kanuris into slavery.

This is why reading and comprehension is an underrated skill. Modern Scandinavians speak English fluently mainly because it’s taught from a young age in schools and widely used in media, not due to ancestry from the British Isles. Distinction here is "NATIVE".
Scandinavians/Nordic don't speak English natively. They speak Danish, Swedish, Finnish or Norwegian or Icelandic.
Learn to make your points without sounding cocky or making knee-jerk responses to people's posts without comprehending what is being ORIGINALLY conveyed! Your first sentence was totally needless and you aren't talking to an uneducated or semi-literate person here. I grew up reading massive volumes of encyclopedia in my family home library from several decades ago (over 5 decades ago) and I know full well the meaning of "NATIVE."

You made some valid points in your first post and even this post that I'm responding to and I merely chipped in some historical FACTS or insights about the Scandinavian relationship with the British Isle to make the subject matter wider. Period.

This is how some people think their brain is firing on full cylinders then fail big in small WAEC. In continental Europe, no one natively speaks English outside of UK, Ireland, Gibraltar, Isle of Man and maybe only a small minority in Malta. That's around 70 to 75 million.

Russian is natively spoken in Russia, East of Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, Estonia, Moldova. That's more than 130 million in Europe alone. No other language comes close.
The Scandinavian countries of Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and even the Netherlands on Continent Europe speak very fluent English.

The Scandinavians have ancestral ties with several parts of the United Kingdom haven carried out several raids on villages for plunder and settled as Danish and/or Norwegian Vikings on the British Isles many centuries back and they fathered children who had blonde hairs like them
. So, this ancestral link definitely spurred the Scandinavians to learn to speak fluent English in their homelands as well as their individual or native languages.
