airsaylongcome:I agree with you there. Silence sometimes is golden. However the young man 'Bosun Tijani is well-educated BUT at a time like this, Nigerians in the Diaspora and right on Nigerian soil want answers to issues BUT if for security reasons, you can't spell out fully what you have in mind, just say so and MOST enlightened folks will understand. On the other hand, Nigeria really has to get more serious. I've stated for years now that the purchase and launch of low-earth orbit satellites into space and the use of surveillance and attack drones would effectively minimize these foreign Fula militia bandits and the foreign Tuareg-led Lakurawa bandits from Niger Republic and Northern Mali including BH and the ISWAP breakaway jihadi group operating in the Lake Chad Region. The Tuareg-led JNIM jihadi group of Mali have taken over half of Burkina Faso, over half of Mali and a large part of Niger Republic (even after the Russians got involved) with raids into Northern Togo and Northern Benin Republic so this Sahellian security issue is draining the finances of these countries and Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger Republic's insecurities under those military dictators poses more security risk for Nigeria because those 3 countries relied too much on Russia BUT things have degenerated now with Russia still fighting Ukraine. The coup plotters in Benin Republic also talked about the jihadi raids into Benin Republic as being their major reason for the coup despite the FACT that the current President Talon of Benin did quite well on the economy BUT the jihadi insurgency led to the death of Beninoise soldiers. Benin Republic being close to Nigeria foretells what can happen if all hands in West Africa are NOT on deck to deal jointly with these Fula militia and jihadi groups like JNIM, ISWAP and BH that are all affiliated to Al-Qaeda. So those countries of Burkina Faso, Niger Republic and Mali have to be humble enough and get the United States, the EU, and other fiendly allies involved in helping them out to deal with the JNIM jihadi terror group. |
Mirasteel:I have to respond to your post to give you a different perspective. Those insidious terror members aren't in the real sense illiterates. Embedded right among them within the Foreign Fula militia bandits or jihadi insurgency gangs like JNIM or ISWAP are technologically-savvy jihadi members who handle these tech-related issues liked operating drones and making satellite phone calls or using cryptic messages via email I recall that a former DSS DG, Mike Ejiofor from Issele Uku in Aniocha North LGA of Delta State told a media outlet how he was kidnapped by a gang of Fulas while driving through Kogi State on his way to the FCT in Nigeria, said some of the Fulas who kidnapped him spoke some English and one of them had a computer on him that he was using to communicate. They had guns on them and eventually his folks paid ransom and he fortunately got freed. That's a whole former DG of the DSS during the Goodluck Jonathan Presidency who got kidnapped during the 2nd-term of the Buhari Presidency. In 2024, I saw the video of a turbaned Fula bandit and his gang from one of the Sahellian countries chilling in the bush but that turbaned young Fula in his late 20s or early 30s was operating a small surveillance drone right in the video. That shows how far these criminals have gone in using technology to engage in crime in such a short time. Strategies have to change URGENTLY to the use of low-earth orbit satellites for tracking and monitoring these creeps to destroy their hiding places and criminal networks. |
dre11:I've ALWAYS emphasized for years now that Nigeria should purchase and launch low-earth orbit satellites for higher picture resolutions to pick images of the hiding spots of these highly IRRESPONSIBLE militia bandits in the forests in all parts of Nigeria. Surveillance and attack drones too will complement the satellites and ground forces can then easily move in. Period. |
dre11:The Minister, 'Bosun Tijanni is obviously referring to the use of satellite phone calls by those militia bandits, BUT for security reasons didn't spell out what he meant fully. These creeps are also using portable drones now. I saw one turbaned Fula bandit in the bush (in 2024) with some of his gang from one of the Sahellian countries operating and controlling a surveillance drone. The pervasiveness of all kinds of portable drones in the hands of these non-state actors and jihadi groups gives some cause for concern. The makers of these drones have to ensure they keep a tab (with unique serial numberIngs used) via a central database on those who buy drones worldwide. |
casualobserver:Indeed, I'm on the same page with you on that PPP issue. A few months ago in 2025 right here in NL, we analysed some road projects undertaken by some Lagos LGAs, and looking deeply at the pictures of some of the roads ATTACHED to the thread(s), some of the roads looked crooked (despite the fact that the road had covered drains and side walks that also looked like their constructions where rushed so they looked annoyingly uneven looks. I had to propose on that same NL thread that Lagos State Government and the citizens MUST ensure that all the Lagos LGAs and LCDAs MUST have one universal construction standard and NOT carry out shoddy jobs during construction on public infrastructure. |
Pakute:That's a nice tribute for Nyesom Wike on his birthday. I personally never liked Wike because of his perceived brashness and the era he was the PDP Governor of Rivers State was termed the "Rivers of blood," a metaphor for relentless political violence which many of those criticizing him right now applauded then when they were still PDP supporters. In any event, what Wike has as deficits in terms of being brusque, he makes up with his hard and smart work ethics in transforming Rivers State in the past and the FCT's landscape since 2023 with the modern infrastructure and new roads which is highly commendable. That makes him the BEST Minister of the FCT ever according to those folks who live in the FCT. As a lawyer, Wike should ALSO go for some anger and emotional intelligence trainings so that he doesn't keep getting misunderstood by people on the street level. |
casualobserver:@casualobserver Oh yes, I understand the thrust of your post. 20 years now since those 2 impending mega projects came into our consciousness... How time flies. Those two major projects (4th Mainland Bridge and the Lekki-Epe International Airport ought to have been rounded off by now) and that would have saved the overall costs of construction. As part of the Lagos State Master Plan though, successive Governors and their teams were able to finish (via PPP) the Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ), the Lekki Deep Sea Port, and leased huge tracts of land for the construction of the Dangote Petrochemical Refinery in Ibeju-Lekki. I commend 'Bola Tinubu and his team for initiating and overseeing the conclusion of some of those projects but there's still a lot more to be done. For instance, it's the intangibles that really matter for many folks who care about long-term livability and welfare of Lagos State such as having proper urban waste disposal whereby urban refuse can be turned to harmless organic fertilizer for agriculture/biogas for cooking/thermal energy for electricity, public toilets can be built in strategic areas to be replaced with modern biogas toilets which generate cooking gas and electricity from gas from human wastes, facilities management of government infrastructure such as street or highway lights and buildings have been poor. After 3-4 years of the commissioning of both government buildings and government vehicles they start looking rickety. That BRT lane construction on the concrete road to Epe that you talked about should NEVER been there in the first place. Removing it again further shows how wastages occur due to a deficiency in "project management" skills. I Once again the lack of a "sense of urgency" and foresight on the part of some of these people can be very enervating. Right BELOW is a reaction video on the temporary opening as of yesterday [December 12, 2025] of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal highway (Lagos end) BREAKING: The Coastal Road Is Open! lilsmart:@lilsmart My pleasure... I thank you too for the insights. Cheers. |
Congratulations to the folks of Ekiti State and Nigeria on the FIRST EVER commercial flight into Ekiti State on December 10, 2025. I partly followed the event via livestream and YouTube as the United Nigeria aircraft arrived the well-designed Ekiti International Cargo Airport terminal building. Kudos to Ogun State as well on the inauguration of the new Gate International Cargo Airport Iperu-Remo. The U.S.-educated Engineer, Abayomi Ogundeyin, has his Pro Force Defence Industries Ltd located in Iperu-Remo hence that airport would further aid industrialization since Ogun State already has the largest number of industries in Nigeria ahead of Lagos State. Those who are making jest of Ekiti State (on NL and elsewhere) calling this an unviable airport project are indeed totally CLUELESS about a lot of opportunities in that State, which I'm aware has a huge Diaspora population living around the major population centers of the world with disposable income as business moguls and multimillionaires, professionals in various fields of human endeavor, etc. Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort was voted for 2 years in a row as the BEST resort in Nigeria ahead of resorts in Lagos State so that says a lot about the tourism potentials of Ekiti State. More indigenes of Ekiti State and others would fly in via Lagos, Abuja, or PH for investment purposes in agribusiness and more instead of enduring several hours of road trips. It's a FACT that people in several countries of the world who have huge Diaspora populations like the Ekitis (who are a subgroup of the larger Yoruba folks) tend to achieve more and this airport and the new education and innovation hubs centered around Age Babalola University and other Universities coming up would trigger the formation of more partnerships between the academia and industries in that state. If you can conceive it, you can achieve it. I did a SWOT analysis on some States in Nigeria from the 1990s and updated these stats over the years and the human and material resources in Ekiti State would definitely grow exponentially especially if value addition from agribusiness products and a strong tech-based hub are firmly rooted in the state for eventual local consumption and export. A rail link to be constructed from Osogbo to Ado-Ekiti is ALSO important to link up directly with Lagos Sea Ports. |
AngelGabbyShara:This momentous occasion, according to the SSA, is a testimony to visionary leadership and the power of continuity in governance. Hon. Olarewaju revealed that aviation experts and reputable business tycoons who have already utilized the state-of-the-art facility have unanimously confirmed that the airport is indeed of world-class standard, affirming its robustness and operational excellence. This pivotal infrastructure is set to fundamentally reshape the state's economic landscape, opening Ekiti to unprecedented opportunities in business, investment, tourism, and hospitality. Its strategic importance is further heightened by its proximity to notable academic institutions like Afe Babalola University (ABUAD), the Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti, the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State University (EKSU), and the emerging Ekiti Knowledge Zone in Ado-Ekiti, establishing the state as a prime hub for medical tourism and academic excellence. |
lilsmart:I largely agree with your post especially the FIRST paragraph BUT disagree with the section where you indicated that Eko Atlantic City is one of the projects responsible which have led to flooding in Lagos State. This is incorrect and a rehash of existing false rumors online and offline. I will explain why. First off, the horrendous flooding of Victoria Island and contiguous areas back in the late 1990s right into the 2000s is primarily as a result of a rise of sea water (ocean water levels) due to climate change and the melting of the polar ice regions of the North Pole and South Pole. I remember back in the 1990s how the then Bar Beach was overan by rising flood waters and if Victoria Island had been totally buried underwater or submerged like the legendary Continent of Atlantis, then the nearby Ikoyi Island too would have been submerged in NO time. Therefore, the brilliant Public-Private partnership from the early 2000s between the Lagos State Government and the Lebanese-Nigerian-owned Chagoury Group to RECLAIM the ORIGINAL land that EXISTED there several decades ago. For many who don't know, where Eko Atlantic City is today was ORIGINALLY dry land back in the 1950s and 1960s, etc, and that is that area where the ORIGINAL indigenes of Iruland (the original Yoruba name for Victoria Island) settled and lived. The constant strong ocean waves kept on eroding the beach front and the soil kept sinking to the bottom of the sea. So, it was that same soil on the sea bed that Chagoury Group's construction arm dredged right back up from the sea floor to refill the original land area that had been lost. So, it's NOT that they went to bring sand from another part of Lagos to sandfill that location. That was the saving grace for Victoria Island and the contiguous areas otherwise, there won't be a Victoria Island today. However, besides Eko Atlantic City, I totally agree with you that in other locations if Lagos State such as Victoria Island Extension (the former Maroko slum settlement demolished in 1990 by the Military Government of Lagos State), Banana Island and Lekki Phase 1 and 2 located on the Lekki Peninsula, parts of Isheri Schemes (which straddle both sides of Lagos and Ogun States) to mention a few, the careless sandfilling of those places from the 1990s blocked the natural water outlets from the creeks into the lagoon and ocean. It was a highly IRRESPONSIBLE thing that people did just because they were desperate to live on Victoria Island or on live in the Lekki Peninsula near posh estates. |
Eboofa:Listen up! Your post right ABOVE is fabricated disinformation and highly IRRESPONSIBLE! Be guided with your relentless insidious online defamation of character. There is NO single sabotage by Yoruba folks of any infrastructural project in the South East of Nigeria and there are examples to prove it right BELOW. Bigots NEVER see anything good around them because of confirmation bias and this is why you have ignored the obvious FACTS listed right BELOW. It's ONLY when you have an open mind that you can see things clearly. 1] First off, huge oil and gas construction projects are currently ongoing in Imo State as we speak with Federal Government support. 2] Second, the current Nigerian President 'Bola Tinubu himself ensured that the flag off of the Abia State Airport was approved with Festus Keyamo's visit in 2025 to commence construction work in collaboration with Alex Oti who promised to construct the runway while the Federal Government would build the main airport terminal building. 3] Third, unknown to you and others, the South East is also being connected to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal highway via a SPUR linking up Ebonyi State and Enugu State, then bursting out into Benue State. Even Edo State which isn't part of the original States along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal highway has been approved for connection via a SPUR to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal highway thereby enhancing inland development of Edo State and the dynamic Senator Dave Umahi is spear-heading this huge project that I remember the former President Shehu Shagari Goverment first conceived back in the early 1980s BUT Tinubu finally had the audacity of courage to make it happen using reinforced concrete construction because of the terrains to be crossed. 4] The inflow of more funds to all the States of Nigeria under an APC-led Presidency has ALSO led to folks like the Anambra State Governor openly praising President 'Bola Tinubu and his team's financial sagacity and even APGA has aligned with APC at the national level with Bianca Ojukwu being the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs despite she being an APGA member. The Enugu State Governor too has NEVER hidden the FACT that with the financial engineering from President 'Bola Tinubu's Government, the largest inflows of money ever in Nigeria's history have come in for Enugu State and other States of Nigeria to be able to implement a lot of the fantastic projects most of them who have creative intelligence have achieved (although a few have performed below par despite the huge funds). This is the reason why many of those Governors left their former political parties to join APC (just like PDP benefited from defections of opposition party Governors during the Obasanjo's second-term). Recently the Enugu State Governor purchased up to 100 CNG-FUELED large buses and a drone for surveillance purposes. These are as a result of improved cash flow to ALL the States. There's a lot more that I CANNOT list here for all to see because of time BUT you as an Nnewi person from Anambra State MUST be open-minded and DESIST from further spreading defamatory comments here against the Yoruba folks. Period. |
amazingspiderma:First off, this planned new Petrochemical Refinery in Lagos is a PRIVATE sector-led project has NOTHING to do with politics and is NOT a Federal Government project (like the older 2 refineries in PH, the 1 refinery in Warri, and the 1 refinery in Kaduna). Learn to read properly before responding to critical topics here! You came off sounding like a bigot with biased opinions in your post. Second, unknown to some of you, Lagos State has oil and gas in offshore and onshore locations. I recall reading back in 1998 (27 years ago) a FULL page report indicating that Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum discovered deposits of natural gas onshore Ibeju-Lekki which they have capped for future extraction. The same Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum and their technical partners struck oil and gas onshore Badagry LGA as well including the vast oil and gas offshore Lagos known as the Aje oil fields. There are some contractual obligations Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum and their foreign partners are resolving and this is why it seems that not much has been heard from them. Once this partnership issues are resolved, oil and gas production would be revved up offshore and onshore Lagos State. Ondo State and Ogun State (located on Tongeji Island in Ipokia LGA and in offshore blocks) have oil and gas deposits as well with the oil and gas-rich Ilaje LGA of Ondo State sharing direct boundaries with the Atlantic Ocean where the oil and gas fields are located offshore and some onshore fields as well. |
Great100000:Impressive... Kudos to the private sector for bringing this value addition-based oil and gas investment up in Lagos State. Healthy competition is vital in every industry such as the oil and gas sector. |

Dalohad:Your post is highly IRRESPONSIBLE tbh! The Nigerian President 'Bola Tinubu has NEVER been arrested for any drug crimes in the United States. Neither has he ever been convicted. It's you people of South East origin that are deliberately spreading these fake stories you made up in your heads due to tribal hatred despite several corrections. Recently a 27-year-old boy from the SE again was arrested by the intelligence agencies for calling for a military coup online against Tinubu. I detest dishonest people of any kind and you are one of the monikers I see on NL who relentlessly spew out toxic disinformation against Tinubu online just to damage his image BUT you and your ilk have failed! In 2002, the then Legal Attache of the United States Embassy in Lagos, Michael Bonner CLEARLY stated in an official letter to Nigerian Police investigators that the then Governor 'Bola Tinubu has NEVER been arrested for any crimes in the United States based off of the FBI's National Crime Information Center (NCIC) central database of all criminal ever commited in the United States by individuals. Very soon the intelligence agencies will beam a massive searchlight on NL then you young posters here will know NEVER to deliberately defame people again with fabricated disinformation. |
jmoore:Look here young man. You people MUST stop this deliberately fabricated, IRRESPONSIBLE and defamatory comments you spin in your heads about President 'Bola Tinubu. You SE people are the ones relentlessly pushing this FAKE story because of your bigotry. People will keep seeing you as highly dishonest and distrust you for telling LIES and spreading disinformation. NOW, the 460,000 USD forfeiture out of a total of 1.8 million USD in 1993 was for a backlog of unpaid taxes on investments lodged in Tinubu's 8 United States bank accounts NOT from proceeds of hard drugs or from him being a drug ba*on. If Tinubu was a drug baron, his whole assets would have been seized from him and him get jailed, BUT the balance of his original 1.8 million USD was returned to him (after 460,000 USD was deducted for the backlog of unpaid taxes). These FACTS have been in the public domain since 1993 but you people keep spoiling his name because he is NOT from your tribe or your preferred political choice for that Presidential election. Others have moved on but people like you come to NL to arrogantly post misleading information and you think you will NOT put yourself into trouble and be noticed by the intelligence agencies? In 2002, the then Legal Attache of the United States Embassy in Lagos, Mr. Michael Bonner CLEARLY stated in an official document to the Nigerian Police investigators that the then Governor 'Bola Tinubu has NEVER had any criminal records nor been arrested for crimes on United States soil based off of the FBI National Crime Information Center NCIC central database. Be guided! There are ALSO NL links to the screenshot of Michael Bonner's official document from the Legal Department of the United States Embassy in Lagos to the Police investigators. |
