The fundamental problem with Lagos APc can be summed up this way:

A leader is determined by his lieutenants, his team. One reason why Awolowo was so successful was not just his vision or his administrative abilities but in the caliber of his team of Lieutenants in his political family. It is for that reason that Awolowo can conceptualize a vision of a university for the western region and leave Akintola to plan and execute and deliver excellence. Many of the legacies of Awo were not executed by him but his team of Lieutenants even after he left office….even while he was in prison, even under military govt and deliver to a standard of excellence. Once you are a member of Awo’s political family your standard is excellence and this is reflected in what they did wherever they were whether Awo was around or not.

This is the problem I have with Lagos APC as a Political family. They are largely populated by mediocre people incapable of excellence and occupy the positions they do because unlike in Awolowo’s era, the best brains stayed away from politics and governance and created a vacuum which these charlatans have now filled. In Awolowo’s time, a Gbaja who attended a law school rated in the bottom 10% of American law schools would never rise to become his chief of staff. The opportunity to be a key figure would not even present itself. So it’s no surprise we see the tardiness we see. Awolowo would. To even tolerate you embarrassing g him so many times.

These are the people that populate Lagos APC. Ofcourse there are a few exceptions but the excellence can never emanate from such an environment, where throroughness, excellence of thought and execution is the exception rather than the rule. I understand that this is also a reflection of how we have fallen as a people but what really gets on my nerves is the arrogance and how they parade themselves as the best thing since sliced bread.

That said they are still better than the alternatives and that’s why they remain in power.
That's deep... Really deep.

You just "toasted" these folks like toasted sliced bread. cheesy grin

With reference to Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, GCFR, SAN, you spoke the truth about him. He indeed had a team that conceptualized the Ikeja GRA, the Ikeja Industrial Estate, Ilupeju Industrial Estate, the Iganmu Industrial Estate, the Oluyole Industrial Estate, Odua Group, the Western House highrise building on Lagos Island, the Cocoa House highrise building in Ibadan, the Bodija Estate in Ibadan, free education, the huge cattle ranches with several improved hybrids in the Fasola area of Oyo State which gradually disappeared during the years of military dictatorship because of the oil boom and military corruption. Since Awolowo attended the London School of Economics and Political Science I noticed that some of those who got Western Region scholarships also went to LSE.

Governor. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu is an ex-investment banker who rose to the senior rank of a Treasurer [just like the now President 'Bola Tinubu rose to become a Treasurer with Mobil Nigeria (now ExxonMobil)]. Sanwo-Olu was the FIRST EVER Chairman of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) so he has had experience in public service after leaving the private sector and finance. More is expected from these men and their lieutenants tbh.

I've occasionally wondered when the 4th Mainland Bridge and the Lekki-Epe International Airport construction would commence with Sanwo-Olu's finance background because time is ticking out. I've seen two models of the airport on IG and that airport is gonna be lit on completion. Roads are also critical and just like you earlier stated, that "Wike standard" is going to be good for Lagos State.

I thoroughly enjoyed your disection of APC Lagos and the solutions to assist them to get back on track for the benefit of the citizens.

Cheers.

are you now claiming part of delta is yoruba land or what? All those long episodes doesn't mean anything
Young man, you CANNOT say my post doesn't mean anything because of your limited knowledge of history which Itsekiris themselves do NOT deny.

Yoruba ancestral bloodlines from extend right from Ogun to Ondo States into Delta State for centuries. They call themselves Itsekiri but they represent the Easternmost borders of Yoruboid groups in Delta State. The Itsekiris have always attended important annual meetings involving the indigenous Obas (in Nigeria, Benin Republic and Togo), featuring Yoruba professionals, the rest of Yorubaland from Nigeria, Benin Republic, and Togo. High Chief Ayomike of Itsekiriland used to lead a delegation of Itsekiri High Chiefs to attend these sorts of annual meetings even if the Olu of Warri was unavailable.

The oil and gas-rich Ugborodo (formerly and improperly termed Escravos meaning "slave" in Portuguese) in Delta State was founded by Ugbo migrants from Ugboland in today's Ondo State over 500 years ago.

Many Ijebu communities were founded in what is now Delta centuries back such as Omadina, Ureju, Ode-Itsekiri (note the similarity with Ijebu-Ode), Ogidigben, and more. Many of these communities simply extend from Ondo State right into the Itsekiri part of Delta State.

The Itsekiri folks from Ode-Itsekiri and other communities founded by Ijebus still recollect and relate with the original Ijebu communities they migrated from centuries ago and they don't hide these FACTS.

Who are the indigenous Hausa politicians? Why are they not Governors in the North?
Delpee,

That's an impressive question which tugs at the heart of those who have a deep knowledge of global geopolitical dynamic.

The Fulas right from the Colonial days (they were propped up by the British Colonialists over other Indigenous ethnicities of the Old North and the British used them to collect taxes and engage in the indirect rule on their behalf).

The indigenous Hausa politicians are there in all the Hausa States of the North West of Nigeria BUT for several decades, using the deliberately created tactics of planting themselves in prominent positions, the Fulas tend to win election primaries for Governorships, Councilors, they use religion and claim the out-dated "Hausa-Fula" appellation (the term Hausa-Fula was first used to my knowledge in the Colonial era by the British media) to fool others into thinking both ethnic groups are the same.

BUT now, the Hausas have strongly warned against the use of that insidious term in online videos and even the purer Fulas from Adamawa for instance say theirs NOTHING like Hausa-Fula. If you're Hausa then that's who you are. If you're a Fula then you are a Fula with North African Berber paternal ancestry from Morocco.

If you watch the video again of that Hausa woman in hijab from Katsina which I shared with you 2 weeks ago, you would pick up strong key points in what she said about the use of foreign Fula militia bandits to take over their ancestral homelands or change the demographics in Hausaland. She ALSO said that NO single Hausa has ever been the President of Nigeria or Governor of many Hausa States since she was born and that Kano State has had ONLY one Hausa Governor. So, they are now talking of ditching religion to vote out the Fulas in their midst for obviously preventing the Hausas from political power. More Hausas will have to join politics, and get more education. The Almajiri menace too is LARGELY done by the Hausas with institutionalized Fula support over centuries, BUT the "town Fulas" send their kids to the best schools. This Almajiri system has to STOP for a more structured society for the largely Hausas and Western/Arabic/Quaranic education can go hand in hand. In Southern Kano for instance, there are non-Muslim Hausas who are Christians and a few Hausas still practice their indigenous religion that existed before the 1804 foreign Fula jihadi invasion through Uthman dan Fodio who was originally born in the 1700s I'm what is now modern Niger Republic.

but to move some sea port activities to delta state Warri is a no no. they do not even want to hear another of that discussion
I don't know what you are going on about with that bolded comment of yours above.

Now listen... What the Lagos special adviser CLEARLY told the media was that there is still ENOUGH port capacity in the Lagos Ports if the massive inneficiences at the Ports are removed. He's actually right about that. However, if the NPA insists on moving part of Lagos Port operations to Warri, that is fine. It becomes highly IRRESPONSIBLE and an act of online disinformation for posters especially of SE origin to keep spreading falsehoods viacrandom blogs and several YouTube videos seeking to knock the heads of Warri folks and Yoruba folks together while saying that the SW was denying Warri of ship cargo. That's highly a highlyvIRRESPONSIBLE thing to do! Senator Oluremi Tinubu's biological mother is an Itsekiri woman from where the transported natural gas for the Escravos-Lagos pipeline comes from.
So, it's totally inconceivable that President 'Bola Tinubu and his team would deny his wife's maternal ancestry of sustainable development. The ONLY thing is that the river ports of Warri, Koko, Burutu, Calabar, etc, require constant dredging due to silting from the shallow river bed which prevents big ocean-going ships from sailing into the riverd with cargo from abroad and the cost of dredging is very expensive running into millions.

Second, the Escravos (Ugborodo) - Lagos gas pipeline transports natural gas NOT just to the industrial hubs in Lagos, Ogun, BUT to the rest of West Africa along the shoreline up to Ghana. That gas comes right from Itsekiri oil fields bearing Itsekiri/Yoruba names namely Okan, Meji, Meta, Meren Oil Fields which have operated right from the 1960s. Yorubas and Itsekiri are related ancestrally with Yoruba being the parent ethnic group of the Itsekiris of Ife, Ilaje, and Ijebu origins and many Itsekiri communities were founded by folks of Yoruba lineage even before Oba Olua's son, Prince Ginuwa's arrival from Benin with 70 children of noble men on exile to Ode-Itsekiri an original Ijebu settlement where he met Chief Lenuwa and Ijebu man in 1480! Prince Ginuwa's mother was from Ile Ife and was the ONLY one out of Oba Olua's wife who was NOT born in Benin.
PoliticsRe: Explosion At Escravos–Lagos Pipeline In Delta State Disrupts Operations by AlphaTaikun: 6:47pm On Dec 12, 2025
malali:
An explosion occurred earlier this week at a key onshore natural gas pipeline in Nigeria, disrupting operations at the link shipping gas to industrial users and power plants, Nigeria’s state oil company NNPC confirmed late on Thursday.

The explosion occurred on the evening of December 10 on the Escravos–Lagos pipeline near the Tebijor, Okpele, and Ikpopo communities in the Delta State. Initial observations indicate a pressure drop consistent with a loss of containment at the gas pipeline, NNPC said in a statement.

“The cause of the explosion is still unknown but would be confirmed after a detailed investigation has been concluded. Our priority at this time is the safety of nearby communities and the protection of the environment,” the state company said, adding that it has activated emergency response procedures and teams.

The Escravos–Lagos gas pipeline is a major conduit of gas to industrial users and power plants in southwestern Nigeria.

The incident of still unknown cause took place days after NNPC and local producer Heirs Energies signed a deal to capture and use the gas flared at their onshore OML 17 joint venture near Port Harcourt in a bid to monetize the resource and reduce flaring.

Under the deal, the companies will capture the gas flared across OML 17 and deploy it for use in power generation, industrial applications, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and compressed natural gas (CNG). The move is aligned with Nigeria’s gas development priorities and energy transition goals.

Gas flaring has been a major issue at Nigeria’s oilfields—it is wasted instead of used for many industrial purposes, and holds back the country’s targets to reduce emissions.

Nigeria saw flaring volumes jump by 12% in 2024, which was the second largest increase globally behind Iran, the World Bank said in a report earlier this year.

Kwankwaso is a minority Fula and his father was the Sarkin Fulani of his Kwankwaso village in Kano. When Kwankwaso was the Governor of Kano as an ethnic Fula, his Deputy-Governor too was a Fula which drew the anger of the indigenous Hausas of Kano State. So, I'm NOT surprised at the current complaints coming from that minority Fula group of foreign origin.

Many projects were built up North when Buhari was the President. Abandoned projects up North for decades were ALSO completed.

The Lagos-Jibia-Maradi rail line is still undergoing construction and will be completed in 2026 while the BIGGEST railway terminus is being constructed right in Kano. David Umahi the Nigerian Minister of Works is steadily working on all the major roads simultaneously so Kwankwaso should take a back seat. This is why I've warned that party called APC not to make Kwankwaso or any minority Fula the Presidential candidate of their party because the minority Fulas will reverse a lot of positive gains made after Tinubu concludes his mission with foreign Fula militia attacks getting worse if a Fula becomes a future President. An indigenous Hausa politician as President is more preferable than a Fula. Period.

🎶 AFROBEAT vs AFROBEATS — Seun Kuti Sets the Record Straight 🎶

A lot of people still mix these two up, so here’s what Seun Kuti recently said — and it’s eye-opening 👇🏾

According to Seun, “Afrobeats” is not a real genre.
It’s a title, a broad label created to group different styles of modern African music. Today’s Afrobeats artists can jump from amapiano to dancehall to pop — meaning there’s no single, consistent sound that defines it.

He even pointed out that Amapiano is now being called the new Afrobeats, which shows how fluid the label has become.

On the other hand, Afrobeat (no ‘s’) — the music pioneered by Fela Kuti — is a clearly defined genre with its own structure, instrumentation, and strong political message.

So in Seun Kuti’s words:
👉🏾 Afrobeats = a marketing label
👉🏾 Afrobeat = a real genre with roots, rules, and resistance

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1x09tZBMhm4

Fela stops a performance here when his band man makes a mistake. How many of our afrobeats can play an instrument? They are just commercial papers for the people exploiting them. It will come out in a few years.

The acquisition of African labels by global majors—most notably Universal’s majority stake in Mavin Records—shows the industry recognises Afrobeats as its new growth engine. But without policy safeguards, these acquisitions risk recreating old extractive patterns: Africa produces the cultural value, while others capture the profit.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s highly informal economy complicates revenue collection. Up to two-thirds of the economy operates outside formal systems. For years, informal circulation boosted artist visibility, but it also weakened data systems, copyright protection, and revenue tracking. Even massive cultural events like Detty December, drawing more than a million visitors in 2024, remain undermeasured

What exactly is US trained supposed to mean? This is part of our problem. Some of the best lawyers were trained in Nigerian universities. Secondly there are good schools and bad schools abroad even in the US.

It is not beyond the reason to expect that an undergraduate in law should know that there is separation of powers and you can’t interfere in an ongoing case.

The issue here is tardiness. How do you as a chief of staff sanction a list of appointees that include dead people? It’s happened more than once.

As for Lagos state APC please don’t let me start. Yes they are capable of appointing SOME sound people but will they allow sound people to do the right thing or work to their full capabilities without allowing greed to set in? The problem with Lagos APC is because they have certain natural advantages over other states, because they have had Tinubu to pave the way, they feel they are the better than they really are and they operate with that arrogance. They have not had many states with the ability or personnel to expose their nonsense. See how many roads Wike has built in 2 years and the quality of the roads. Don’t let me start with Lagos APC.

How they handled (bungled) the recent rehabilitation not the admiralty to Ajah reconstruction is in my humble opinion symptomatic of the mediocre minds in Lagos APC. No scenario planning no forecasting, did they not know that December is not the best time to embark on rehabilitation on that road at a time when you are promoting Detty December. That’s just one example but typical of a mediocre overrated bunch who have come to believe their own hype. What gets on my nerves is that they are arrogant in the mediocrity not realizing they are simply one eyed men in a country of the blind.

Think about it for a second. Only Lagos APC will open up an entire corridor with only i road in and out. To go from one estate in that corridor to another just next door, you have to go on the express way. That’s Lagos APC excellence….Brilliant minds indeed! If they were the ones who planned ikeja or surulere, yaba, iluoeju or any of the old areas the traffic on Mortala Mohammed way, western Avenue, airport rd etc would be child’s play compared to the lekki traffic.
You've said it all.

In every organization, lethargy often sets in to various degrees WITHIN the workforce. The chains of command have to be robust as well starting with the President, the Governors, the LGA chairpersons, etc, and the lines of communication have to be open at all times. The folks on the lower cadre of APC Lagos and their agencies are in my opinion largely responsible for not passing on relevant information to their bosses on time as well. A major retreat is needed in the lead up to 2026 so that they can all REALLY become motivated and aware of some "disruptive strategies"
that can be utilized to leapfrog that party for the benefit of all.

Though Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Commissioner of Works, and his team did well to build a new Opebi-Ojota Link Bridge to ease the massive traffic jams in the Maryland, Opebi, Mobolaji Bank Anthony axis, that road rehabilitation on the Lekki Peninsula should have been done long before the impending holiday period knowing FULL WELL that there's currently an inflow of Diasporans and tourists for the "Detty December" Holiday. To make matters more annoying, there's been a slew of information about kidnappings along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway (especially the Ibadan end) by foreign Fula bandits hiding in the forests just off the expressway. This is a mirror of what has been happening every year since the Buhari Presidency. A major sense of urgency should have triggered Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his fellow SW Governors to order large numbers of surveillance and attack drones since they FIRST suggested the use during their South West regional meeting early this 2025 in order to mitigate the yearly attacks by foreign Fula bandits hiding in the forests right next to some major highways in the SW.

The cerebral former Governor Babatunde Raji-Fashola and his team I'm aware used to conduct opinion polls to find out what the folks on the street level needed at any particular point in time and Nigerians in the Diaspora and in Nigeria saw the massive transformations he carried out in the Oshodi area with the gentrification and greening of that axis of Lagos State.

The executive does not have the power to interfere in an ongoing case. There is separation of powers. It is only after the appeal has concluded that the president had powers to pardon.

Unlike the original case, which was brought by the executive, in an appeal the executive cannot even withdraw the case because the appeal was initiated by the woman.

Presidency cannot interfere in a court case it did not initiate and it can’t pardon a party in a case before the court. What if she was found innocent by the appeal court, what would he have been pardoning? Can you see now why they should have waited till the outcome of the appeal court before granting a pardon.

Nnamdi Kanu take note.

Again I repeat Gabajabiamila is probably the most sloppy tardy chief of staff I have known in the history of this country. This is why I say I don’t like Lagos APC people as a group….they’ve risen to the top on Tinubu’s glory despite being mostly very mediocre and overrated. All these gaffes and ridicule are his job to vet and avoid. This is why a chief of staff is so powerful and the gatekeeper. Appointing dead people, pardoning and withdrawing pardons, pardoning people with ongoing cases and many more. He is too sloppy for a chief of staff!

He is supppsed to be a lawyer for Gods sake!
'Femi Gbaja is a U.S.- trained attorney and former Speaker of the House of Reps in Nigeria so one would have expected things to pan out right and with a sense of urgency. A lot of the APC Lagos guys who served in the Lagos State Government as lawmakers and Commissioners are brilliant folks and NOT mediocrities.

Something MUST be WRONG somewhere with reference to the tardiness you are talking about here. Even Jimi Disu who is a veteran Journalist with Nigeria Info FM on V/Island which I monitor via their mobile app from my base here has called out Gbaja (his first cousin) on multiple occasions while on air to such an extent that I started wondering that if he is indeed Gbaja's first cousin, why not simply phone him directly to give him constructive criticisms about observed lapses?

Last but NOT least, I'm aware that the appeal to grant pardon to Maryam Sanda was initiated by her late husband's biological father who due to Islamic principles chose to forgive her and because she gave birth to children for her late spouse. He then sent an appeal to the President Muhammadu Buhari to grant a pardon to her. So, the pardon of Maryam and others were started during Buhari's Presidency and NOT the President 'Bola Tinubu's President. Tinubu's government ONLY chose to bring up the cases for final vetting and everyone wel

PoliticsRe: Residents Cry Out As Insecurity Spreads To South-west, Slam Tinubu’s Silence by AlphaTaikun:
umarnuhu1900:
The geopolitical zone have raised the alarm over the worsening security situation in the region, declaring that the once relatively peaceful zone is “no longer safe” as bandits, kidnappers and armed robbers now operate with near impunity.

In a viral video interview conducted by People First Advocacy, a civil society group, distraught residents from various communities across Ogun, Oyo and Ondo states bitterly lamented the surge in kidnappings, highway robberies and farmer-herder clashes that have claimed lives and disrupted economic activities in recent months.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e75k5e9O3n8

“No part of Nigeria is safe again, not even the South-West that used to be the most peaceful,” a middle-aged trader in Ijebu-Ode said. “Bandits are on our highways every day. People are kidnapped in broad daylight and ransom runs into millions. Where is the government?”

Another resident, a commercial driver plying the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, accused security agencies of doing little to curb the menace. “We pay taxes, we vote, yet we cannot travel in peace. Kidnappers now have camps inside our forests. If you are kidnapped today, you are on your own.”

The interviewees reserved their harshest criticism for President Bola Tinubu, a son of the South-West, whom they accused of abandoning the region to its fate despite repeated pleas for federal intervention.

“Tinubu is from this zone, yet the insecurity here is getting worse every day,” a community leader fumed.

“When the problem was in the North, we heard Amotekun this, Amotekun that. Now that bandits have entered our own backyard, everybody is quiet. Is it until they kidnap half of Lagos before the President will act?”

The residents called on the federal government to immediately deploy more security personnel to the region, clear forests being used as hideouts by criminal elements and provide Amotekun, the regional security outfit, with better funding and legal backing to confront the threats head-on.

“Enough is enough,” one woman declared. “We are tired of living in fear in our own land. The authorities must wake up and do something before it is too late.”

Enough blames to go round.

Since all security is LOCAL worldwide, a well-equiped Amotekun in each State would have done the job along with their use of physical and metaphysical powers their commader once said they use. Based on past experiences and arrests, those doing the kidnappings around the forested areas of Lagos-Ibadan expressway are LARGELY foreign Fula from the West African Sahel countries of Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger Republic. The kidnap case of 3 men
of Yoruba descent which took place 4 years ago in that same Lagos-Ibadan expressway area gives strong pointers to who the current kidnappers are as confirmed Fulas. Those kidnapped said they could all see the Lagos-Ibadan expressway right from the forest hideouts of those Fulas (one if whom spoke NOT so fluent Yoruba language).
The other Fulas ONLY spoke Fulfude. After repeated beatings of the 3 men, the Fulas finally collected N10 million within 4 days from the families of the 3 kidnapped men from their modern oil palm processing factory in that area of Ibadan. The DSS was contacted as well by the family of those kidnapped BUT in the absence of drones, the job of the DSS CANNOT be achieved easily in a forest like that.

The State Governors of the West of Nigeria led by Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu like to attend well-publicised regional meetings BUT do NOT have a sense of urgency to ACT on time until things go south before they start running around. They should urgently purchase more of the surveillance and attack drones NOW! Every security problem should NOT be pushed on the Nigerian President alone. Even the citizens are highly notorious for NOT giving out security information on time to Amotekun and the Police. There should be dedicated phone lines for giving info to the security agencies and Amotekun. ALL security worldwide is LOCAL! Period.

The use of attack and surveillance drones, ISR platforms from the Nigerian Air Force and Low-earth orbit satellite tracking technologies which can read number plates from outer space can be used to locate the forest hideouts of these foreign Fulas. Enough is enough of these soft slaps on the wrist of Fula militia bandits.

I base in Ilorin, my sibling are base in Lagos. We plan to buy those livestock from the north because they are cheap, we rear them in Ilorin and move them to Lagos for sell once they are mature in 6months.. I have an uncle in Ilorin who have almost 200 cows in his farm. Is not a most you take care of them yourself, you can hire a caretaker, take care of the caretaker as your own person and see how he all take care of your herds... Some farms make agreement with the caretaker that the 2nd calf from a herd will be his.... Doing that will make him more comitted to the job. There is money in livestock rearing.. You can get a calf from the north for 150k, rear it for 6 month and sell 500k or more depending on how you feed it. Also try include goat, Lagos is a big market for goat meat.
@ajalawole

Deep insights from you on the land issue in Abule Egba area of Lagos State.

Have you tried dairy farming as well? I suggest that in addition to what you are doing in Ilorin with the cattle fattening business, find out more about Wamco's dairy program in Oyo where Wamco buys fresh milk every morning from the indigenous Yorubas and some settler Fulas who have their own cows which they milk. Both the Yorubas and migrant Fulas say that milking of the cows is even more profitable than moving around to graze the cows then later selling the cows. Perhaps you may be able to move to Oyo to set up a branch exclusively for dairy in Oyo State.

Second, the caretakers you are using for the Ilorin cows, are they Yoruba from Ilorin or other parts of Kwara or are they foreign Fula?
It's important to boost the capacity of indigenous Nigerians to handle these cattle situations instead of depending on foreign Fula to do that. As of 1946, Western Nigeria had huge cattle ranches at Oluyole area of Oyo State set up and Awolowo imported hybrid cows. The military dictatorships destroyed that Western Nigeria cattle ranching project through abandonment because of the oil boom years.

Computer village is coming to Abule Egba in 2 to 5 years full migration would be complete and the price of land would skyrocket. Currently you can see a plot of land to buy in Abule Egba around 100m to 120m but you are likely to see at New Oko oba for 90m to 100m.

Waiting patiently for computer village migration.

Well, it's called deregulation.

It's because you guys have been enjoying subsidised prices, that's why this is all new to you. Not suprised, subsidy has been around from 1973-2023, and for a brief time from 2023-4. Subsidy has been around for so long that people who were babies when the thing started are now parents of adults or grandparents self.

In other african countries, na the thing wey dey deal with them

And subsidy was being used to cover for the price volatility, and it was the constant adjusting of amounts paid for subsidy to cover for that price volaitily that led to problems with economic planning, and sometimes was the reason why even if oil prices went up, it won't benefit even the corrupt. And a big part of why we had debt issues.
True that.
PoliticsRe: Dangote Refinery Slashes Petrol Price To ₦699 Per Litre by AlphaTaikun:
ogododo:
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has again reduced its petrol gantry price, slashing the ex-depot rate from N828 to N699 per litre.

Real-time market data published on Petroleumprice.ng on Friday showed that the refinery implemented another major downward review, cutting the Premium Motor Spirit benchmark price by N129 per litre — a 15.58 per cent reduction.

An official of the refinery, who spoke to PUNCH Online on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to comment publicly, also confirmed the adjustment.

He said, “The refinery has reduced petrol gantry price to N699 per litre.”

The new price took effect on December 11, 2025, marking the 20th petrol price adjustment announced by the refinery this year.

The latest reduction comes barely five days after the refinery’s Chairman, Aliko Dangote, restated his commitment to keeping domestic fuel prices “reasonable and competitive” despite global volatility and persistent smuggling along Nigeria’s borders.

Speaking after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu on December 6, Dangote said prices would continue to fall as the refinery ramps up output and competes directly with imported products.

Dangote said, “Prices are going down. The reason why prices have to go down is that we have to also compete with imports.

"But luckily for us now, the smuggling has reduced, not totally.

“There is still quite a lot of smuggling because the price we have in Nigeria is about 55 per cent lower than the price of our neighbouring countries.”

The billionaire said petroleum products (diesel and petrol) “will continue to be sold in the market at a very reasonable price”.

“We are not here to make our $20 billion back quickly; it’s a long-term investment,” Dangote said.

Market trackers on Petroleumprice.ng also reported fresh reductions across several private depots following the refinery’s latest review.

According to the platform, Sigmund Depot reduced its ex-depot price by N4 to N824 per litre, while Bulk Strategic also posted a marginal drop of N3. TechnoOil implemented one of the sharpest decreases with a N15 cut

That's what deregulation is all about. The pump price of gasoline is supposed to CHANGE from time to time based off of the prevailing market conditions.

Look... I CLEARLY stated that Reno Omokri personally apologized to President Tinubu in private and that should suffice. I'm NOT aware of ANY public apology from Reno BUT he should ALSO do later. The private apology Reno made to Tinubu... and the office of the NSA is FULLY aware of Reno's retractions of the defamatory comments after he discovered from the United States Department of Justice/Government, and the Chicago State University in 2022 that the now President 'Bola Tinubu is totally innocent of any drug b*ron charges in 1993 (ONLY making a forfeiture in 1993 of 460,000 USD as payment for a backlog of unpaid tax on his bank investments out of the total of 1.8 million USD in his 8 United States bank accounts) and he indeed attended and graduated with distinctions in 1979 from Chicago State University) are sufficient to forgive Reno Omokri who I know when he makes a mistake usually CORRECTS himself and apologizes unlike other arrogant people such as Omoyele Sowere who has published many falsehoods and half-truths in his online Sahara Reporters yet fails to apologize to those us his readers. I've known Omoyele since his Student Union days in the very early 1990s at UNILAG. He wasn't like this in terms of character in the past. Moreover, Reno wasn't the FIRST EVER person to defame Tinubu by IRRESPONSIBLY and FALSELY calling an innocent man a drug b*ron right from the Presidential election cycle of 2011, to 2014/2015 election cycle till date. As far back as 2002, the United States Embassy in Lagos, Legal Attache Michael Bonner CLEARLY stated in an official document that the then Governor 'Bola Tinubu has NEVER been arrested or charged for ANY crime on U.S. soil contrary to the FALSE rumors flying around.

Second, that you claim to be Urhobo just like Reno Omokri doesn't mean you know him more than me. There's NOTHING wrong in Reno identifying with both his Urhobo paternal lineage and Itsekiri maternal lineage. I've known for decades that Reno's Urhobo father was a very brilliant retired Judge who served in Sokoto. Now, Urhobos and Itsekiris naturally marry one another (due to being close neighbors and family members in the Delta State area) just the same way that Yorubas and Urhobos commonly get married to one another due LARGELY to the FACT that some Yorubas live in Delta State and conversely, many Urhobos live in the different States of Yorubaland such as in Ondo, Lagos, Ogun and Osun as well due to their involvement in the oil palm trade as big-time sellers and farm workers decades ago. For instance, Festus Keyamo's father is Urhobo while his mother is a Yoruba from Ilaro in Ogun State. Prof Wole Soyinka's current wife is Urhobo, etc.

The founder and publisher of Vanguard newspaper whose family I know, Uncle Sam Amuka has an Itsekiri father but an Urhobo mother (and he married a Yoruba woman), Richard 'Mofe Damijo has an Urhobo father and and Itsekiri mother just like Reno Omokri.

Cubana protecting our interest — Amakaeze siblings disown brother’s claims on disputed Abuja property

Siblings of Rev. Chidiebere Amakaeze have kicked following his claims against nightclub entrepreneur, Obi Cubana, insisting that the businessman is not indebted in anyway to the family.

In a now viral video, they claim Cubana had in fact supported them for years.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Nwem Amakaeze, the immediate younger brother, said Cubana has consistently fulfilled all financial obligations on the Wuse 2 property in dispute and has even done more than one can imagine.

“Let it be on record that Obi Cubana does not owe the Amakaeze family. We are six surviving children. Five of us are united; only our eldest brother chose to go his own way. Despite that, Obinna still pays him and even more,” he said.

He alleged that Rev. Chidiebere had misrepresented himself as the family’s only surviving next-of-kin in 2018 to obtain a sole letter of administration, describing his actions as “wickedness of the highest order.”

He said, “My brother gives an impression that in fighting Obi Cubana or trying to remove him from the premises, he is doing it on behalf of the family, but there is no lie bigger than that.

“In 2018, you came to the Abuja Federal High Court and swore an affidavit that you are the only surviving next of kin and son of Rev. Michael Nwobi Amakaeze. On that premises, you deceived the court to give you a sole letter of administration which was countered then. There is no need for sentiments.”

Nwem further alleged that their brother had repeatedly stirred conflict, including filing false petitions and inciting social-media attacks against Cubana.

“The information that Obi is trying to take somebody’s property is not correct. Obi just said, “ you have siblings. I can settle today, but they need to have a share. I grew up with them, they are my friends, they are my family.”

“The problem is internal. For 10 years, I haven’t seen my brother. All he sends are threats and insults. Obi Cubana is only insisting that any settlement must include all siblings,” he added.

Their elder sister, Adaolisa Amakaeze, also defended Cubana in a separate video, saying he has taken care of the family and paid rent as caretaker of the property, stressing that he is not owing and should not be forced out.

This comes after Abuja court sheriffs executed an eviction order on December 9, 2025, at Plot 81, Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, formerly the Cubana Lounge, and handed possession to businessman Mr. Collins Onwuzulike.

Rev. Chidiebere had claimed he sold the property to Onwuzulike for N2 billion, a claim his siblings have now publicly disputed.

Social media stance or talk by the siblings has no effect or carries no weight in law and reality on ground. Last last it will just raise emotions.
The brother has sole letter of administration, they should have challenged his misrepresentation to the court which made him the administrator, that they did not do. Oga now has sold the place.

As for Obi Cubana he ought to have settled with the administrator to retain legitimate use of the premises not to be doing paddy paddy with the siblings and helping them settle what does not concern him.
Even if he had interest in their affairs, he should have financed them to get a lawyer to challenge the letter of administration allegedly wrongly issued to the oldest sibling.
