Hi Guys, Today we are going to be making Nigerian Jollof…. Jollof rice is one Nigerian meal that cuts across every tribe and ethnic group in the country, and among the different ways it may be cooked, "party jollof rice" stands out. It's cooked using large local cast iron pots called "koko-irin" which are placed on top of large chunks of firewood. The smoky heat from the charcoal adds a unique and unforgettable flavour that many people love… #food #foodie #partyjollof #jollofrice

Personally, I feel why the Remo folks may have "identified" as Ijebu's are;

1. The British merging us together
2. The Ijebus's seems to have been strong politically and culturally. It would have been easy to go with the flow. Despite being from Remo, I have heard the names Awujale and Alake of Egba more than Akarigbo while growing up.
3. No awareness, our parents keeps passing down the identities from bloodline to bloodline.

The funny thing is, the topic of Remo not been part of Ijebu has in existence as far back but no one is really interested in it. Its only getting popular because of the "Ijebu's" wanting to get a state and capital.
Indeed, I thought as much. That last paragraph emphasis on the Ijebu State creation definitely triggered the "Remo" nationalism with those paid newspaper advertorials I read back in the early 2000s. The Remo socio-cultural group members were fighting for a better bargain and positioning of themselves for any future Ijebu State.

@alpha.taikun

Good day to you sir.

Ikorodu is an extension of Remoland. Lots of the ancient Ikorodu families migrated from Sagamu to settle there. The Oba of Ogijo is from the same royal ruling house (Torungbuwa) as the current Akarigbo of Remo. The Ayangburen of Ikorodu is considered to be from the royal lineage of Akarigbo.

Personally, I do not think there is a way to way to distinguish between an Ijebu or Remo names.
They are all Yoruba names with Yoruba meanings, so you may end up seeing it as a Yoruba name.
@pinkyruledworld

I appreciate your honest feedback here as your post adds several layers of CLARITY and new knowledge for me on the history and migration of Ikorodu LGA folks of Lagos State being of direct Remo descent right up to the ancestry of the Ayangburen of Ikorodu. This is exactly what I read briefly back in the early 2000s.

Recently, I saw a video of folks from Owu-Ijebu this week celebrating with their monarch. So, even right in Ijebuland, we have folks who migrated in the 1800s definitely to settler in other places (due to the Yoruba Civil Wars of the 1800s and pressures for land) just like Abeokuta is a conglomerate of Yorubas from Egba (via their original home of Ibadan), Owus, some Ketu Kingdom folks (who migrated as refugees from modern Benin Republic to Abeokuta) and more.

In any event, as long as boundaries are respected between Remos and the Ijebus, that's serves a good purpose for the benefit of peace in the entire Yorubaland.

MOST of the cows eaten in Nigeria are brought in from Niger Republic, Cameroon, and other Sahelian countries by these foreign Fulas. These foreign Fula should stay back in the original countries they came from and allow their governments to create ranches for them. NOT one Kobo of Nigeria money should be spent on ranching for foreign Fulas.

It was a Fulani guy who claims to be from Niger State that revealed this vital information about the majority of Miyetti Allah members (90%) being foreign Fulas in an interview I read about 10 years ago. These foreign Fulas (who he said speak a different dialect of Fulfude from the one he speaks) WANTED to kill him due to a rivalry issue among the Miyetti Allah members in Ogun State so he went to Punch newspaper to reveal the attempts by the foreign Fulas to eliminate him. This is why these foreign Fulas show NO mercy when they attack communities and kill with NO empathy towards indigenous people of Nigeria (such as the Hausas, Tiv, Southern Kaduna folks, Plateau folks, Yoruba, Nupe, Bariba, Edo, Delta North folks, etc, who they have routinely killed with AK-47s BECAUSE they are NOT from Nigeria). They just simply run back across the porous non-existent borders to Niger Republic, Mali and Cameroon, Mauritania, Guinea, etc, whenever they strike in Nigeria or they turn the indigenous people to refugees and rename the sacked Hausa communities and Plateau State communities into Fulani names since 2001 during the President Olusegun Obasanjo Goverment. Enough is enough.

ALL the Middle Belt and Southern States MUSt set up their own cattle ranches and dairy farms to provide cattle meat and milk using improved varieties of cattle and managed by the indigenes of each State. NO foreign Fula should be allowed to bring their cows again. Lagos State and Niger State are ALSO looking at a plan for Niger State to supply package cattle meat to the Lagos markets. Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Central and Southern Kwara, Kogi States, etc, can ALSO host these new commercial hybrid cattle and dairy farms to supply the North Central, West Nigeria and for export. Period.

TravelRe: FG To Open First Section Of Lagos–calabar Coastal Highway In December by AlphaTaikun: 6:30pm On Nov 25, 2025
Pakute:
The Federal Government has announced that it is set to open the completed portion of the section 1 of the ongoing Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway to motorists between December 12 and 17.

The government is also set to formally commission section 1 in April 2026. The section 1 has about two kilmetres to be fully completed.
Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, disclose these on Sunday while on inspection tour of the coastal highway.

A total of 47. 37 kilomtres was covered during the inspection.

The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is a 700-km project beginning from Victoria Island, Lagos to Calabar in Cross River State.

Speaking with journalists on the inspection, Umahi commended the level of the project, pointing out that the had achieved measurable progress.

The minister explained that the construction work was deliberately slowed on select segments to allow proper subsoil settlement which he described as an engineering requirement crucial for the road’s structural integrity and long-term lifespan.

He commended Hitech for what he called an “uncommon commitment” to the project, saying the company’s drive “goes far beyond financial incentives.”

On the funding of the sprawling project, he said the foreign loan component was oversubscribed by $100 million, indicating investor confidence in the project’s economic viability and the ministry’s transparent management processes.

In his remarks, The Managing Director of Hitech, Danny Aboud, said the sand filling was advancing steadily across critical swamp zones, while between 34 and 35 kilometres of the concrete eeinforced cement pavement had already been done.

Beyond Section One, Other places inspected include a 25-kilomtre dual carriageway under construction by federal government between Eleko around Dangote Cement, Ibeju-Lekki and Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State and an expansive flyover at Chainage 47.474. The flyover designed to link Sections 1 and 2 of the coastal highway.

With 80 per cent of piling works completed, the interchange is projected for delivery in the first quarter of 2026 and will support seamless traffic flow to the Dangote Refinery and the adjoining port access road, according to Umahi at the site.

The minister equally announced the launch of the President Tinubu Engineering Mentorship Programme, expected to commence in January.

According to Umahi, the initiative is expected to recruit civil engineers, electrical engineers, designers and technicians across the country offering hands-on training on legacy projects such as the coastal highway, Sokoto- Badagry coastal road and others.

The minister said after the traing, participants will be given start-up support to acquire essential equipment, in a move aimed at boosting indigenous engineering capacity of the country while reducing reliance on foreign expertise.

PoliticsRe: FIRS Debunks Atiku’s Claims, Cautions Against Politicising Tax Administration by AlphaTaikun: 4:00pm On Nov 24, 2025
Ofunaofu:
The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has dismissed recent claims by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar regarding the appointment of Xpress Payments as one of the channels used in the Treasury Single Account (TSA) revenue collection system.

It described the claims as “incorrect, misleading, and capable of unnecessarily politicising a purely administrative and technical process.”

In a statement, weekend, by Technical Assistant on Broadcast Media to the Executive Chairman, FIRS, Arabinrin Aderonke Atoyebi, the Service clarified that it did not operate any exclusive or single-gateway revenue collection arrangement and has not granted monopoly rights to any private company over government revenues.

FIRS stated that the agency was currently operating a multi-channel, multi-Payment Solution Service Provider (PSSP) framework that include several established platforms such as Quickteller, Remita, Etranzact, Flutterwave, and XpressPay.

“These PSSPs are part of an expanded, transparent, and competitive ecosystem designed to make tax payment easier and more efficient for Nigerians across the country,” the statement read.

The Service further explained that PSSPs were not collection agents and did not earn processing fees or percentages of government revenues.

It stressed that all payments made through the channels went directly into the Federation Account without diversion, intermediaries, or private custody.

Highlighting the key features of the TSA collection system, the FIRS noted that the inclusion of multiple PSSPs was intended to provide taxpayers with more options, improve efficiency through better monitoring and reporting, and promote innovation and job creation within the financial technology sector.

It also emphasised that the onboarding process for PSSPs was transparent, open, and verifiable, ensuring fairness and equal opportunity for all participants.

The agency reiterated its commitment to professionalism and transparency, urging political figures to avoid misrepresenting routine administrative procedures.

“The ongoing national tax reform, led by the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, is a cornerstone of Nigeria’s economic modernisation.

“It is grounded in transparency, efficiency, and broad stakeholder engagement. This reform cannot and should not be dragged into partisan controversy,” the statement added.

The Service, however, called Atiku and other political actors to desist from spreading misinformation, noting that Nigeria’s tax system was too vital to be undermined by politicisation.

https://www.dw.com/en/using-cooking-stones-instead-of-wood/video-60997920 [1:51]

An inventor in Uganda hit on the idea of making cooking stones from a mixture of small stones, clay...

Cooking with stones and dry wooden sticks is an ancient and effective method used in camping and bushcraft. This approach leverages the excellent heat retention of stones and the readily available fuel source of dry wood.

Safety First: Choosing the Right Stones
It is critical to choose the correct type of stones for cooking, as some can explode when heated due to trapped moisture or air pockets.

Safe Stones: Use dry, dense igneous rocks like granite or basalt.

X Unsafe Stones: Avoid river rocks, limestone, or any wet stones. Always test stones before full use.

Cooking Techniques
There are several methods for cooking using these natural materials:

Three-Stone Fire (for cookware): Arrange three stones in a triangular formation to create a stable base for a pot or pan. Feed dry sticks into the center to maintain the fire, and place your cast iron or steel pot on top of the stones.

Hot Stone Slab (as a griddle)
: Heat a flat, dry, dense stone directly over the fire until very hot. The stone acts as a natural griddle, searing meat or vegetables and locking in juices without needing oil. Use a long stick or tool to handle the food and a stable setup to position the stone securely over the heat.

How Tinubu's God-given foresight and administrative skills saved Victoria Island.

I was familiar with the ecological problem facing Victoria Island as far back as 1996 when it was highlighted on Frank Olize's Sunday show on NTA. Then I saw it for myself in 2005 when I visited a friend in Victoria Island.

What remained of the Bar Beach was just a tiny strip of land and Ahmadu Bello Way was perennially flooded. Later, I learnt that Tinubu, the governor of Lagos State at the time had signed a contract since 2003 to solve the problem of the ocean surge forever by killing a bird with two stones, stopping the perrenial surge of the ocean by reclaiming land from the ocean and at the same time establishing a world class real estate piece on the reclaimed land. Work started in 2008. As of today, Eko Atlantic is taking shape and Victoria Island has been saved. At what cost to Lagos State taxpayers? Zero Naira! It was pushed to the private sector. That's one man blessed by God with an international touch to solving problems. Abeg anyone with pictures of Eko Atlantic City should help me post them. I'm very sleepy already.

Nnamdi Kanu deserves to be jailed for life (and even face the death penalty) for the deaths of hundreds of innocent people largely of his Ibo stock. He is fortunate that this irresponsible behavior from him and his criminal group masquerading as a self-determination group did NOT occur during the highly corrupt and ruthless military dictatorships of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and that kleptomaniac called Abacha who stole over 4 billion USD of Nigeria's money into offshore bank accounts in what is now internationally called the "Abacha LOOT.' Under the military dictatorships of 1984 to 1998 which I witnessed, Nnamdi Kanu would have been summarily executed by hanging or firing squad for mass incitements and treason (just like Abacha did to Ken Saro-Wiwa and his innocent associates) and nothing will happen. If that boy named Simon Ekpa in Finland can be jailed by the Finnish Government, why NOT Nnamdi Kanu who was well known for spewing toxic hate speech targeted at several ethnic groups in Nigeria and massive disinformation on that pirate radio station that the former ipob member Uche Mefor said he helped to set up.

Anybody supporting Nnamdi Kanu's heinous actions of incitement of calling for the burning down of specific buildings in Lagos via his pirate radio and his calls for death to specific people which were carried out is himself or herself a criminal and deserves to be jailed!

I don't believe no 6. There are Fulani terrorists in Southeast. They were doing armed robbery, especially around Lokpanta axis in Abia state, along Enugu-Umuahia road.

I also don't believe no 14.
Most yahoo boys/ international fraudsters are Yorubas and their Bini cousins from Edo State, not Igbos.
You have to learn to state ONLY the historical FACTS based on credible crime statistics and what you know.

A lot of international fraudsters who are into advanced fee fraud and have been arrested by the intelligence agencies worldwide by the FBI for decades are IBOS! Infact Owerri is the epicenter of the advanced fee fraud and money laundering gangs in Iboland due to the presence of a lot of higher institutions in that State based on EFCC crime database over the years. Other States in Nigeria where higher institutions exist also contribute to a lot of these youths engaging in online fraud with their laptops and data. The NDLEA too has crime statistics showing the demographics and ethnic identities of all drug crime offenders.

Second, back in the 1990s, I remember how the very notorious international fraudster Emmanuel Nwude from Anambra State, his wife and their immediate gang members were busted by the Interpol and Nigerian detectives in Lagos State for defrauding a Brazilian bank in the biggest ever case of bank fraud as of that time. That creep started buying expensive property and expensive in Lagos including a highrise building in Ikeja and in Anambra. He even contested for the House of Reps position.

Third, Obinwanne Okeke (aka Invictus) is one other example of a notorious international fraudster who scammed businesses in the United States of money running into millions of USD while he pretended to be a legit entrepreneur. The FBI got him arrested at the Dulles airport while he was trying to run back to Nigeria in 2019/2020. Another guy of Abia State original living in the United States with his family back in the 2010s was busted after massive EVIDENCE showed the digital trail of his multiple cases of bank frauds running into millions of USD.

Third, in one single day alone (just around the time Obinwanne Okeke was taken down while trying to run out of the U.S) OVER 70 young men of Ibo origin were declared WANTED in the United States for advanced fee fraud and other heinous crimes by the U.S. Justice Department and the FBI and this was widely reported in the mass media outlets in 2019/2020. Other ethnicities are involved to varying degrees but you cannot say that Ibos are NOT heavily involved in scamming and fraud.
