Politics › Re: S’court Judgement: INEC Reinstates Lp’s Abure, Pdp’s Anyanwu Names On Website by ALTERNATEID: 9:47pm On May 08, 2025
fergie001:
For the umpteenth time, I have said this is not true.
Abure's tenure has ended, INEC acknowledged that.
The process that brought him back for another term, no Ward or Zonal Congresses, INEC also publicly noted that.

Now, it's simple like I have said many times, the NEC of the Party can be called at any time with or without the NWC's consent. NEC meetings that held during PDP were called for by Jonathan as leader of the Party. Two-thirds majority members of NEC can force NEC. No Chairman calls for NEC unless he is doubly sire of been safe.

During the Giadom/Oshiomhole brouhaha, who pushed for NEC, Buhari.
Like I have said, NLC is one of the cardinal pillars of the LP.
INEC was present at the NEC meeting that produced Nenadi.
All Reps members except Etanabene, members of Senate, gubernatorial candidates, Governor, majority State Chairmen, majority Ward and Zonal Chairmen, majority LG Chairmen, National leader: Obi, Deputy Chairperson LP/Vice President NLC chaired the meeting. So who else is the NEC?.

If we both angry that his tenure was expired and his "re-election" was fraught with irregularities all round, should he still be there or there should be a caretaker? Who has the responsibility of appointing a caretaker.... NEC.
That is the highest ruling authority of any Party in Nigeria except the National Convention.

I repeat again for emphasis, that INEC will deny this, otherwise they are a party to the crisis.
1. It was Giadom that called the NEC meeting that dissolved the Oshiomole led NWC and not Buhari.
2. I don’t know the particular NEC meeting you’re referring to under Jonathan but it’s only sensible that no one dare challenge an incumbent president if he decides to call for NEC meeting of his party. However, that it wasn’t challenged then (if true) doesn’t make it legal or a valid precedent.
3. There is no evidence that INEC was present at the meeting that produced Nenadi Usman as caretaker committee chairman.

4. Before the Supreme Court judgement, the last validly recognized NWC of LP was the one led by Abure. Since the SC refused to recognize any of the contending parties, the right thing for INEC is to maintain the status quo antebellum. Doing otherwise by recognizing the Usman committee would have been a great aberration with no legal basis.

5. Abure is a member of LP. Peter Obi, Usman, Otti etc are all members of LP. They should all go back to the part secretariat under the leadership of Abure to resolve all their differences. You all should stop making it look like heaven will fall if Abure is not forcefully removed as the party’s chairman.

fergie001:
I can tell you clearly that INEC is wrong and fostering the crisis.
PDP's clear because Wike and Damagum have overpowered that Party but you see for LP, INEC is simply a Party to the crisis.

I am waiting, I know INEC will deny it.
After reading the judgement of the SC, this is the only sensible position to take. Abure was the last known validly elected chairman of the party. If the court says everyone should go back to the party mechanism for solution, then the last known validly elected PARTY LEADERS should lead the process and not an unknown character who was selected by a gang of characters that have never held or been elected into party positions before.

Nenadi Usman and her committee were not a product of any known party process. Those that crowned her have no legal basis to appoint her to that position. The least INEC can do is to recognize Abure and give him the chance to lead the process of resolving the party crisis.

Validated:
INEC is corn-fused
That’s the only sensible thing to do. Recognizing Nenadi Usman who is not even a member of the party would have been absolutely baseless and ridiculous.

Politics › Re: APGA Edorsing Tinubu For 2027 Is Totally Pointless by ALTERNATEID: 8:38pm On May 08, 2025
gidgiddy:
I don't know how true this report is that Soludo announced in Anambra that APGA would be backing Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections

For one thing, it is quite premature for any party, apart from APC, to be backing Tinubu for 2027, two years before elections. And even if a party wanted to back Tinubu, it is usually the party chairman and NWC that makes such announcement.

But even if the story is true, the endorsement is pointless for Tinubu. APGA backed someone else for President in 2023, but Peter Obi swept Anambra with over 90% of the votes, and cleaned house in the South East

Tinubu is even less popular today, than he was in 2023. So this endorsement gets Tinubu no where. Obi will once again clean house in the SE come 2027

Tinubu better hope that the North are still with him, or he is a goner
If the endorsement is pointless and inconsequential, why then do you need to open a thread to cry about it? Why not just ignore the pointless endorsement like it never happened? Why rant about it?

Anambra state love Peter obi more than soludo he should not sell his brother to stranger soludo is making his campaign do be more difficult, if soludo want to campaign for Tinubu he should not use Peter obi or he will find it very difficult.

Soludo don't say I didn't worn you Anambra is very complicated state you should not mess up with Peter obi.

Anambra will hate you soludo wee don't mind voting for APC to make sure you didn't return to that new government house, your are picking this fight at the wrong time.

A yeruba man or fulani can never behave the soludo behaving to his brother because of stranger who will abandon you tomorrow.
Stop the bigotry young man. So many Yoruba people did not support Tinubu and heaven did not fall. Adeleke worked for Atiku in 2023 and Tinubu lost Osun state. Even some factional leaders of Afenifere supported Peter Obi and no one threatened them the way some of you are threatening Soludo.

Soludo owes Peter Obi nothing. In fact, Soludo has every reason to work against Peter Obi considering what Peter did to him in APGA in 2014. So, quit the bigotry and face front.

Partey was part of the problem yesterday night. A holding midfielder should break up play and release the ball immediately. Go and watch Mikel Obi in the UCL final match between Chelsea and Bayern Munich in 2012. That was our expectation of him yesterday but he instead wants to turn himself to prime Okocha. His time is up at club. He should be flushed out for a serious number 4 to come in.

Only an extremely stupid person will ban the sale of Alcohol in a state in 2025. No state in Nigeria can effectively ban the sale or consumption of alcohol in Nigeria. Sharia states like Zamfara and Sokoto can’t even enforce such nonsense not to talk about a cosmopolitan city like Maiduguri.

Just look above you
There is no message here at all. Yoruba folks are still first in everything in Nigeria. Our states are better governed and developed than all other states combined. We don’t need any message from Obidients like you who can’t develop your states and your people. Folks who troop in to South west to escape poverty and for economic prosperity won’t tell us how to run our politics.
Politics › Re: Yoruba Ronu By Babafemi Ojudu by ALTERNATEID: 11:58am On May 07, 2025
For proper context, Femi Ojudu, the new darling of the Obidient movement served as a Senator for 4 years and was roundly rejected by Ekiti people when he sought reelection. He then served as Special Advisor to President Buhari on Political Affairs (Office of the Vice President) for 8 years. He joined some of the charlatans in the now ignoble Cabal of the Buhari administration to work against Tinubu in the process leading to the APC presidential primary election of 2022.

All through his 12 years in power, he never wrote any article about Yoruba ronu or whatever. Now that he has lost out completely in the power game, he’s now writing rubbish to pander to the losing side so as to stay relevant. Funny enough, Rufai Oseni who shared this nonsense was one of the most vocal critic of Femi Ojudu when he was in the Buhari government.

Anyway, let’s make it clear to Ipobs and obidients like Penguin2 that Yoruba conservatism has come to stay. The era of Yoruba liberalism is over. Yorubas will only do what is in Yoruba interest and nothing else. Idiots among us like Rufai, GRV, Femi Ojudu etc will never be allowed to amount to anything politically on our soil. It is Yoruba first and nothing else going forward.

Politics › Tinubu Congratulates Veteran Journalist Dare Babarinsa At 70 by ALTERNATEID(op): 7:21pm On May 06, 2025
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated veteran journalist and former Executive Director of Tell Magazine, Oludare Babarinsa, on his 70th birthday.

According to a statement by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu saluted the Chairman/Managing Director of Gaskiya Media for attaining the milestone marked by decades of dedication and sacrifice to nation-building.

Onanuga said the President lauded Babarinsa’s distinguished journalism career, which began at the Daily Times, where he served as a corps member in 1981.

Onanuga noted that that Babarinsa also engaged in activism through his work at the Concord newspapers, Newswatch, and his 15 years of service as Executive Director of Tell Magazine.

While acknowledging Babarinsa’s role and commitment to the political and economic integration of the Yoruba people and his vast knowledge of Nigeria as a journalist-historian, he said Tinubu praised the veteran for promoting nation-building through his lucid writings throughout his illustrious career.

He said the President further noted Babarinsa’s fearlessness and integrity during the era of military rule, when he, alongside other courageous media professionals, stood firm in the struggle for the enthronement of democracy and press freedom.

“President Tinubu says he appreciates Babarinsa’s effort, along with his colleagues in the Nigeria Guild of Editors, to sustain good professional practice and mentor a generation of new media leaders who value truth, accuracy, balance, and fairness.

“As Babarinsa joins the ranks of septuagenarians, President Tinubu prays for his continued well-being, good health, and many more years of impactful service to Nigeria,” Onanuga said.
