The Bible teaches that when the right hand does good, the left should not know. It also teaches that when one does good just to show off for the praise of men, that man should expect no further reward because he has already received his reward. (Matthew 6:1; Matthew 6:3). However, a part of me supports this kind of display for a greater reason. In the Nigerian context, our religious leaders, especially within christianity have cornered the laws of giving to benefit themselves and their empires disguising as churches. I do not intend to undermine the Bible'a authority, but at the same time, I understand that if the aim is to teach others how to go about giving then why not. Nigerian Pastors have fed too fat, for too long on Nigerians' collective ignorance and unwillingness to read the Bible for themselves and independently understand what it teaches. A pastor comes up and introduces a new project to the church - it is accepted wholesale without some voice of reason to question why such projects are needed or even why it should be so in the first place. Case in point: Oyedepo sold the idea of the University to church members. People pitched in, (Kingdom Investors), promissory notes were handed out, people pledged, others - including my brothers, sisters and some of my friends contributed manual labour to build the university campus. A majority of those that contributed to that scheme cannot even afford to go the university grounds for a picnic. The same can be said of so many other church ventures where the whole group contributes and one man (or a few men and their families) claim ownership. Organized religion in the name of Pentecostalism has been abused. The majority are scams. |
When Bode George stole millions at NPA, he did not realize it was an insult to the Yoruba people. Please stop tribalizing your politics of greed. The average Yoruba and Ibo neighbors are at peace with each other. Solve your greedy politics within your den and don't drag the poor man on the street into this. |
Those who are against his views have so far expressed their disdain at his person, as against countering the points and the argument he has put forward. It is the mark of an educated mind to entertain a thought without accepting it. Therefore, I would urge those people to look at the argument from different standpoints, and address it based on scriptural evidence instead of name-calling and insult hurling. Counter his points with intelligent arguments, no need to shout to make your point, no need to insult. If your points are polemic enough, chances are that right-thinking reasonable people would agree with you. But then, individuals like that seem to be in short supply on here. |
FFK is just a fool. Listen to him at your peril. Its obvious he has an axe to grind with the government of the day. History is full of his less than sterling record as aviation minister. Femi you had your chance, just shut up and get a life. |
lanrema:Go and read the mail again, you only get 50% within 90 days if you are a first time investor. If you aren't, you only get less than 5%. If this isn't a scam, then I don't know what is. |
MysteryBud:I have not heard that WES accepts Statement of Result. The certificate remains your best bet. Make effort to obtain it if you can. Good luck. Just saying, but questions like this stand a better chance of getting answers quickly on the FSW/EE thread. |
I think you should tread with caution here. If you can afford it, please send your envelopes separately. I did what this post advised, and I paid in delays of evaluation. We had to write WES severally because even though our tracking status reports successful delivery, actual update on our pages took forever. I'm not sure but I think evaluations are somewhat connected to tracking numbers and stuff. If you do this, you might inadvertently input a configuration that may not work with their system of tracking receipts and evaluation. Maybe subjecting them to manual work of separating your package (under the same tracking number) or some funny stuff that might delay your evaluation. The programmer in me just tells me that something isn't right about cutting cost in this way. As I type this, I have missed many ITAs all because of WES Evaluation. Be smart. Money is a means to an end - use it as such. koonlay5: |
Rise of the Tombraider: how much?? |
All I can think about is this unflattering image of her that would forever remain in the annals of the internet. No matter what she does in the future - makeup, makeover, make-under - that image of her reddened eyes and roughed-up hair would always be attached to any headline about her. Who knows - memes might even spring up. Moral of the story? Stay out of trouble, its not worth it. |
Whizpeter:A blind fool you are. |
From the reactions so far, I think people need to be educated on what the term 'Cattle Rustler' means. Simply put, a cattle rustler is a cattle thief. He is one who steals cattle from the herdsman. I wish this news were for the arrest of guilty cattle herdsmen who have been terrorising communities in Nigeria. A herdsman steals life, no arrest is made. A rustler steals cattle - death by hanging. Interesting world. |
Sell the laptop. Go for a new one. Its just a machine, dont get attached to it and suffer needlessly. It is obvious it has reached the end of its useful life. Battery problems might be the start of a long list of problems. Sell it while you can. |
Adaowerri111:Does it not sound like fanaticism? Does it mean a teacher who isn't a Christian cannot work there? Would they admit Muslim students? These are questions that come to mind as I think on this event. How did we get here? My secondary school CRK (Christian Religious Knowledge)teacher was a muslim woman, and boy she did a great job as a professional teacher. Not only that, she also taught IRK (Islamic Religious Knowledge). Those were the glory days when Secondary school students can joke freely about Jesus and Mohammed without fear of being bombed or expelled the next day. What does imparting knowledge have to do with my personal life with God and tithing? The success of a lot of countries is based on a separation of state and religion. Meaning that at secular levels, you can work anywhere regardless of your beliefs. Countries like the US, Canada, Sweden, and other successful countries are working on this model. It means also that the best people get into the best positions, so long as they do well in their assigned job functions. I am also assuming that the school has only Christian students. As a father, I would not enrol my son in a mono-religious school. I believe he needs to learn to play, work, mix, quarrel, and get along with peers of different backgrounds. Afterall, we all want our children to be international men and women. We honestly cannot expect them to get comfortable if they never learnt to work with people whose views on life and religion do not match theirs. The trend of having Muslim schools and Christian schools is dangerous at its very root. Even more worrisome is that it has grown even to the University level. Redeemer's University, Covenant, Al-Hikmah all come to mind here. We are breaking our country and laying the groundwork for future destruction, on both the tribal and religious fronts. |
Psoul:Lol. Why kick against knowledge and fight a battle that's already over. English has overcome traditional languages as the official language in the country. If you feel so strongly about it, I challenge you to stop communicating in English, and to speak only African languages wherever you go. That includes posts on nairaland and your job applications. |
Has anyone successfully played Fifa Ultimate Team on PS4? I use MTN 4G LTE. It connects after mutiple attempts, then disconnects after a few minutes. I get decent download speeds and ping times on the modem in the region of 10Mbps and 43ms. I'm just lost on what the issue could be... perhaps EA servers?? |
It just occurred to me that Nairaland doesn't have a "Like" button! |
Why do I have a feeling that the whole Suleman/Otobo saga will end like this too. Someone might confess eventually - Suleman or Otobo or even Madame Okeke. ![]() |
Abrupt:This is an inconsiderate comment for the following reasons. 1. Some people already have heightened anxiety when they travel by air meaning that they need more air to calm nerves. None was provided. 2. The cabin is usually dry and pressurized under normal operating circumstances, thats when the AC is working. 3. Its a long flight, at least international. Meaning that they must have been subjected to this for at least 1 hour. 4. You don't know the state of their health. Are they hypertensive, asthmatic etc.? 5. You did not consider all the above, and you just decided to blame them when its obvious that the aircraft wasn't habitable for living creatures. It would be nice to rephrase your comment, Sir. |
orjikuramo:If you were a parent, I'm sure it would be alright for him to bond with your child, and suggest alcohol and other vices to him. Heck, you would even invite him over for dinner! It is only the parents of those boys (and girls) that would truly understand the graveness of exposing minors to this kind of reckless and immoral individual. I drink, alright but common sense suggests that I separate my social life from my job. His job at in this capacity as a Corps Member is to model the right behaviour and not encourage vices. |
That you are offering these tutorials and videos for sale is quite surprising. I can say with a fair degree of confidence that you did not write or produce any of the materials or videos yourself. Its someone else's work that you downloaded from youtube or wherever - and you're offering it for sale. Shame. 1 simple google search will turn up thousands of tutorials for FREE. My suggestion is to make yourself more relevant by actually learning to the stage where you produce videos yourself or set up an academy for younger programmers to learn. Or better still, build a groundbreaking app with Angular and make millions. Cheers! |
These people just over estimate themselves. So many fish in the river. Your tweets aren't textbooks. Besides where are the girls now? ![]() |
Congrats. I however suggest the u should not disclose the school next time. That's for security. What if there are stupid criminals looking for ways to kidnap a sibling of this gal who might be in the same school. I think their social status should encourage them to be very careful.about how.much info they give to the public. Just saying. |
Tell your wife. Problem solved. Disclaimer: This might lead to some initial problems between the two women, but trust me bro: you'd prefer that kind of problem to the kind infidelity brings when discovered. |
Stripped of the belt. LOL! Who cares when he still has all the money?? And besides he could appeal against the decision if he so wishes. |
FACT: The rigs are there because they have been seized by First Bank. First bank is the major financier for Seawolf. The company has reportedly failed to honor its obligations to service the loans obtained from the bank, in spite of massive contracts awarded for the rigs. If you ask me, its all about mismanagement. Total E&P terminated contracts with the rigs coz the owners failed to account for 11 million dollars meant for training of manpower and purchase of equipment for the rig. Also the company has laid off over 400 workers due to inability to pay salaries, and to think that the rigs pump out up to 150,000 USD per day, while offshore. SOURCE: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/02/firstbank-seizes-seawolfs-rigs-over-n25bn-debt/ http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/seawolf-signs-n22bn-drilling-contract-with-exxonmobil/125833/ OPINION: There goes the Nigerian business model. Bad at handling good business. HiTV comes to mind here. Give them the Burj Arab to handle and I'm convinced that they will run it down. I doubt this would have happened if Foreigners owned these rigs. Our people like to show wealth long before its mature. |
Everything Chinko is crazy. Even their love is smelly. gal slaps full grown man in public! |
There goes my lecturer, Prof. Ibiyemi. Good wine needs no bush. Whisper "Unilorin" - We cant shout. |
When atheists come to the point of death, they wonder what next. Think about that and don't mistake God's patience for inexistence. Being control engineer by training, i understand what it takes to achieve balance and some sanity in systems. The human body and the way it was designed is a reference point and the best of men in this noble field wonder at the amazing control systems that keep us going, often without any conscious intervention. You have a right to your beliefs, but I appeal to you to undertake a study of your own body and its intricate systems. The inevitable conclusion is that someone took time to create the masterpiece. The earth is set smack dab in the center of two extremes, a few meters away and its chaos. Have you thought of what will happen if the earth stops spinning at the set angular velocity for a moment? the earth will be overrun by the waters as a result of the inertia...we'd all be... The list goes on and on. I choose to believe the One who wrote the Book - the Bible, than some guy with a few witty quotes about atheism. Every choice has consequences, the only freedom you gain as an atheist is freedom from accountability (in your mind), but it doesn't change the truth that you are ultimately answerable to God. You may see me as being self righteous, but I'm a person who has also failures and other issues, but i've found that God isn't the kill-joy Master that the Devil and the evil media around today have depicted Him to be. He is a loving Father who has my best interests at heart, and yours too, if you allow Him. God is asking you now, and He may still keep asking you for as long as He wishes. At death, the story changes, and the results of our actions become realities. Denial of a fact, e.g. an end-of-term exam by a student doesn't stop the exam from taking place. The denial of judgment doesn't make it unreal. For the discerning mind, asserting that God doesn't exist is like cutting off the very branch you are sitting on. I believe God exists, and that Jesus is the Son of God. ![]() |
Hey guys, name's Victor Nzemeke. 500 level elect engine, unilorin. I've been following the posts on this thread with keen interest coz i've got a brother who also applied for admission. Its amazing how much wrong info people carelessly broadcast, i wish they'd be more civil and check out facts and sources before telling. Well, as for the list no one, not even uninformed lecturers, can tell precisely when its coming out for sure, its all up to the admission office and the senate. My advice to you guys is to keep your minds engaged with some productive stuff. Worrying doesn't improve your chances, so just be patient and have as much fun as you can between now and when the list would be out. Either way it goes, its not the end of life. Goodluck guys. |
![]() i think we shld ask Bode George what he feels about it, at least he has 2.5 'no business' years |
