An attempt by 5 unseated APC lawmakers who were formerly members of the state House of Assembly had been foiled.
The illegal invasion by five sacked lawmakers was aided by some security agents and thugs, who chased out staff of the House of Assembly.

However the arrival of the Speaker of the Assembly Onofiok Luke, who was accompanied by 20 other members marked a tragic end of the comedy.

On sighting the arrival of the lawmakers, the impostors scampered out of the complex.

The 21 lawmakers have now taken their seats and the proceedings is about to commence.

The clerk of the House Mrs Mandu Umoren and other staff are now seated in the chambers.

The Chief Security Officer of the state, His Excellency Gov Udom Emmanuel arrived the complex and had a private meeting with the speaker in the Speaker's office.

Five recently sacked former lawmakers have stormed the House of Assembly with heavily armed policemen and thugs.

They have a mace and are set to impeach the speaker, suspend 21 members of the assembly and commence proceedings to impeach the Governor of the state.

While normal daily activities were ongoing in the Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly this morning, the sacked former lawmakers were escorted into the complex by thugs and men of the Nigerian Police who chased everyone out in order to have their way.

As you read this, the Press Secretary to the speaker Kufre Okon was manhandled by Victor Udofia, while his phone was snatched from him and smashed by Idongesit Ituen.

They have locked themselves inside the complex at the moment.

The crisis rocking the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has taken has taken a fresh surprising twist as the Assembly today declared 5 seats vacant.

Igbere Tv correspondent in the state capital, Uyo reports that the affected constituencies are: Essien Udim State Constituency, Itu State Constituency, Mkpat Enin State Constituency, Etim Ekpo/Ika State Constituency and Ikono State Constituency.



The House has subsequently adjourned till Tuesday 27th Nov. 2018.

Reports reaching IGBERE TV newsroom says that Hon. Idongesit Ituen, a sacked member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has allegedly invaded the Assembly complex with thugs.

Eyewitnesses who spoke with IGBERE TV correspondent say the thugs are attempting to burn down the assembly.

Few days to the much anticipated 80th birthday of Akwa Ibom legendary leader Arc.Obong Victor Attah, his successor and former Senate Minority  Leader, Godswill Akpabio has tangue-lashed Attah, accusing him of embezzlement and unaccountability throughout his tenure between 1999 and 2007.

Akpabio, who was reacting to widespread criticism of profligacy and wasteful spendings that rocked his 8years 'uncommon' administration, lamented that he is being singled out for attack, while Obong Attah is treated as a saint by Akwa Ibom people.



The Akwa Ibom North West senator described Akwa Ibomites as hypocrites, for insisting that he must come and account for his stewardship, while his predecessor was celebrated on the streets of the state.

Akpabio, in a post on Monday in some notable social media platforms through his Personal Assistant on Media, Pastor Abasiandikan Nkono,  said "The question is, what and what did Akpabio inherit from former Gov. Attah?"

Senator Akpabio who instituted two major probes on Obong Attah's Science Park project and the Pioneer Newspaper Printing Press projects,  during his tenure said his predecessor Obong Attah left him with nothing to use and start operating as a governor when he assumed office in 2007.

"When you see a man who is totally at sea with regards to the workings of govt threatening fire and brimstone that Akpabio must be called to account, when initiators of projects such as the Science Park (Obong Attah)that were never completed, but which monies were paid, working free on the streets, one cannot but feel terribly amused by such high wire hypocrisy and double standards in Akwa Ibom State."

Akpabio, who served for six years as commissioner under Attah, dismissed claims that former Governor Attah's government received so little and should not receive any blame.

"The primitive refrain in that regard is that Arc. Attah did not receive enough money.

But has anybody ever asked why 98% of the value of Ibom Science Park was paid and yet till today that place remains unaccounted for? If Akpabio did that, would he have lived?"

With widespread condemnations trailing the moribund Tropicana project, and other abandoned projects despite huge bugetary provisions in his time, Akpabio explained that "Since others before him are not called to question," nobody should commence accountability probe with his administration.

"Let no man make any mistake, as far as public account with regards to governorship in the State is concerned, I begin to wonder how you can call Akpabio to account, when past administrators, elected governors who equally ran the State on federally allocated funds are working about unmolested."

Despite his huge allocation, Akpabio likened himself to the biblical parable of talents where the master gave different amounts to the different servants.

According to him, even the man who received only one talent was equally called to account for it, just as the man who received 5 talents.

"Then in our time we issue a clean bill of performance to the man with one talent (whose preoccupation was indictment of the master and envy), while at the same time mindlessly calling the man who received five talents to account (inspite of the fact that he did all he could in the prevailing circumstance)"

"When people claim Akpabio received more money than any other governor in the State before him, and as such he must be killed, speaks volume of their inconceivable ignorance.

"It does appear to me that the same people who keep hammering on the amount accrued to Akpabio's regime don't do that because the love the State. They merely gloat over those funds (most of them drew from either directly or inadvertently), out of envy, ingratitude and hard hatred.

Senator Akpabio is the only Governor in the state to have instituted investigative panels to probe the administration of his predecessor, despite being a part of the probed administration.

The royal family of Obong Sampson Udo Idiong of Ata Obio Akpa, Oruk Anam L. G. A. has openly disowned one Mr. Felix Sampson, describing him as a fraudster and political beggar who is mischievous in all his life, and was never a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Igbere Tv reports.



The Idiong ‘s family was responding to the recent publications in two local newspapers with the Headline: “Gov.Udom’s Father-in-law Defects to APC” and a radio interview where Mr. Felix Idiong was reported to have announced the defection of the entire family to the APC , instead of his own wayward defection that was purely motivated by greed and selfishness.

In a Press Statement signed by all the 27 members of the family and sent to Igbere Tv, the family acknowledged that the prodigal Felix Idiong who was cursed by his late father when he criminally embezzled money that was meant for water project and bought a car in 1992 acted as he has always done, revealing that he has no qualifications as an Engineer as he claims.

The statement further revealed that Mr. Felix Idiong was sometime involved in drug crime when he was sent to go and study Business Administration in Italy, a crime that necessitated his shameful deportation to the country.

The family wondered why Mr. Felix Idiong, the lost sheep of the family would go to such a needless length of sabotage to destroy the long-standing good image and reputation the royal family had over the years built for itself, without his contributions.

They noted that this act of sabotage is a clear violation of the age-long tradition of “Ukot”, “Iman” and “Eyeyen” which he is fully aware of, but mischievously trampled upon with the deepest of greed leading the way for him.

The royal family however said that they are strong supporters of the PDP, as well as Gov. Udom, their in-law , whom they described as a-life- touching Governor. They cited the Health Centre in Ata Obio Akpa village and the General Hospital in Ikot Okoro, all in Oruk Anam L.G.A. as some of the meaningful projects Gov. Udom Emmanuel has provided for the people of the area.

The family therefore, called on the people of the state to disregard the publications and the mendacity of the black sheep of the family, saying they are with the Governor in his second term bid and would do everything legitimate to ensure that he wins in 2019 general elections .They further said having benefited from Gov. Udom and their beloved daughter, Mrs. Martha Udom through numerous community projects that have impacted on the lives of the people of the area, they were compelled by a good sense of reason and sensibility to stand by them beyond 2019.
