@cmbagwu we also had same white paper with passport handed back to my sister. Did they asterisk the administrative processing section? or the paper was blank without the vo's ink? i sent u a PM, pls respond... thank you!

cmbagwu:
My visa was delayed yesterday the 9th of June by a young VO in Windows 4 after delaying the guy before me. I'm still trying to figure out what went wrong. I was as confident as the VO.

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning and how're your?
VO: Great! Please pass me your passport, Sevis and i20.
Me: There you go. Passed them.
VO: Why did you choose this course?
Me: I chose to study Public Affairs because, asides the fact that it's a sub-field of my undergraduate study which is Political Science, this course is a vital requirement needed to take up a position as a Public relations officer after my masters degree.
VO: So you will come back to your place of work when you finish your masters?
Me: Yes please but as a Public relations officer as I am currently a Customer Service Executive in my place of work.
VO: So where do you work and what are your duties?
Me: I work with XYZ Bank PLC as a customer service executive and I manage the social media platform which is Facebook, Live chat and Twitter handle. I'm duly responsible for handling customers queries and complaints and I provide feedback from customers not satisfied with a particular product or service to the unit involved for proper review of the complaint and possible timely resolution which is conveyed to customers on these platforms. We also monitor the channels (Mobile app, Online banking and ATM) for network fluctuations.
VO: Okay.. So what will this course do for you?
Me: This course will give me the knowledge and insights to manage emerging issues in my organization both internally and externally. It will also help me develop current policies and besides, it's a vita requirement needed to take up a position in my current place of work.
VO: Are you married?
Me: No please.
VO: Any kids?
Me: None for now.
VO: I can see Public affairs on your DS 160 and on your i20 I'm seeing Public administration.
Me: My admission is in Public affairs but when my I20 was sent to the US government for processing they didn't have my course of study as it is stated on their system and the course closely related was Public administration. Both courses have same curriculum and course outlines. So it's no different but just the name.
VO: Okay. Starts typing for a minute or two.
VO: Have you traveled outside the country before?
Me: No please, haven't had a reason to until now.
Vo: Okay. Types again and again and again.
Then he handed me a white paper. As I was about to jubilate, he gave me back my passport and i20... and he said, I'm sorry I won't be granting you a visa at this time. Then I looked at the paper.. 214B. Now in a white paper... I shook my head.
Me: May I please confirm why I'm being delayed again?
VO: it's written in the paper I just gave you.
Me: Thank you. Didn't know where I gathered the strength to laugh. But I laughed anyways.

This isn't the end of the world. I said to myself. I just drafted a mail and sent to my school telling them about the discrepancy in my admission letter, and what I have on my i20 and the international office was kind enough to send me a mail stating the reason for the discrepancy and asked me to print it and send apply again.

I have chosen to defer till Spring 2018 coz school (New Mexico Highlands University) resumes on the 15th and I don't want to start explaining and speaking English at the POE.. Let me give myself time.

what we have here is a white paper with administrative processing asterisked. Same as what was given to a relative who had his approved by another vo just before my sisters interview. the pick up place was circled in his own. while my sister had the aforementioned.
the ** says before we can continue adjudicating your non-imm visa app, your case must undergo additional admin processing. we will notify u by email or text as soon as itss completed. pls do not return until we have contacted u. if u hae not heard from us within 60 days of ur original interview date, send us an email to ... and request an update.

folmus:
She will be the 2nd person that alluded to white paper. Let them read the part ** The other guy said the content of blue paper was printed on white, hence he was given his passport back.

How do we call? Could you please give us a number.

Didnt see that ...not sure . If she was given a white paper then the passport should have been taken. You have to call the embassy and find out

Good morning VO.
My sister (15) just had her interview in Lagos. Her visa application was neither approved nor denied. The white sheet states that they need to do some administrative processing. The VO returned her passport to her. From her visa status online page it says she will be contacted if there is a decision. Is is possible to get an approval without her passport since the VO handed it back to her?
Thanks.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 12 by Amakyzuu: 10:29am On Aug 10, 2017
Thanks, what do you think about returning her passport back to her?
LagosismyHome:
Great news.... congrats to her
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 12 by Amakyzuu:
Good morning, @Lagosismyhome.
We finally went for the interview (Lag, young white lady). I didn't go in with my sister (14+), my dad did. So may not be able to get all information exactly how it went for the transcript.
They asterisked the last paragraph of the white paper and gave them back her passport. Do you have an idea about what the chances would be like and how long we may need to wait for a feedback?

VO: Good morning
HER: Good morning ma'am
VO: Pass me your document
HER: Have them
VO: Why this school?
HER:SAC High school was recommended by my Aunty who made all the research and I also got a scholarship for the duration of study
VO: Okay, so you mean you will live with your aunty?
HER:Yes
VO:When did your Aunty become a citizen of the US
HER: (She didnt know that but my dad answered). she got married to my brother who was already a citizen.
VO: So who is your aunty to you?
HER: My dad's brothers wife
VO:What does she do?
HER:owns a business
VO:where does she live
HER:tells
VO:Tell me about the school
HER:SAC High school has its motto as knowledge...., it has a christian concept and offers subjects like (cuts in)
VO:How did you get the scholarship?
HER:The school had reviewed my result and my performance and their decision was made on those grounds (cuts in)
VO:I dont understand
HER:The school looked at my transcript
VO:Okay (turns to my dad)
VO:do you have any identification
DAD: yes and handed over.
VO: excuse me (left and came back after a few mins handed him back his passport)
VO: did you get the basket ball scholarship
HER:No
VO:I asked cos people go to that sch mainly for bball (hands the white paper with asterisk for Admin processing .... Returned the documents and passport)

If it me then i would do it differently .. take option 1... there would be two options if she is an intelligent student

option 1
At ss2 by sept...i would ensure that she studies very hard and get very good grades for ss2 and ss3 . Then put her in Sat lessons now or self study so she has very high SAT scores and then aim to apply to schools that give full ride scholarship for international student... that way she dont have to worry if an aunty or uncle will fail or not. She would instead have full university scholarship from the begining

The reason i say that its in 2 years she be in university... with this other option she waits a whole 4 more years (grad 9 to 12).

I understand you stance perfectly... and we also know this... Lets see what happens with the interview first and if it goes the other way she continues her education and plan towards uni. will keep u posted.

Option 2
Alternatively if the scholarship would extend after one year then that doable as well to go now. Would take a longer time . Whether or not the scholarship is extendable you have to check directly with the source

Highly unlikely they would skip her class....its not academic she have to put up with. Big culture shock and change, different style of learning. Potential complex from having a different Accent at a young age , new envirnoment and many many things that she might be a lot more quiet and reserved compared to her mates until she adjust.... so unlikely she will stand out initially ..possible but u never know. People settle down differently

Very true @blending in... She would cope by Gods grace. Thank you so much... You are indeed Gods sent on this platform...

This is what i mean by public fund .

In public high school US Citzens dont pay and it is free... however Foreign students who want to attend public high school must pay the full cost of education.. if they dont pay then they are inbreech of using public fund.

OK, now i understand lol... no mind me... its a private christian school... thanks a lot.

If Aunty is funding then get a bank statement from her just in case they ask at the interview ...i.hope the aunty will continue to pay after one year. Please make sure before she leaves Naija . I heard so many stories that touch . Although i get it, abroad u have so much bills and tax not talk of carrying another person load

Ok noted @bank statement. Sure we will get it. the school is applying for her visa and everything else involved... they would also let us know what to take, we from our end will also arrange and ask (Aunty) for things we feel we may have to take to be on a safe side... We actually trust my aunty as my dad trained her husband (brother) and they asked for this wahala, no be us request for am. i also think the scholarship may extend if the student actually performs excellent in the first year. Do you think it would have been stated in the offer if they were going to fund the whole 4 years of study?

What class is she in Nigeria ? ....

ss1 going to ss2 next session. We only submitted transcripts of js1-3 since she doesn't have a result for 3rd term ss1. the school asked for 9th grade transcript specifically, that's the class she will be resuming. I believe when she resumes and takes subjects, they would realize she is too experienced for the class. does it even work like that?

I doubt if anyone will drill a minor /15 year old too much. It would be more like simple questions on what does she want to become when she grows up . Is she excited about her scholarship..just basic conversation

Thank you for this info. I asked about the drill cos i have no experience in visa apps and have not seen people comment on my sisters kind of case on this thread.

The focus will be more around the parents affordability. The Vo will want to see that no public money should be spent on the child education...so if she on scholarship fine. Any portion of expenses outside the scholarship the parents should go with evidence that they can afford to cover it ... so in summary its the parents that will be interviewed not really the child

What do you mean by no public money? It's actually our Aunt in the US that would take care of her education and living expenses cos the scholarship is for one year out of 4years of study prior to college, my parents will be secondary (whats your take on this).

Regarding the last comment be honest and open about her journey. A more realistic comment is her intention to return back to Nigeria at the end of her education... be it university. U cant say u doing all this trouble for a few years left in high school

No hanky panky, for her, the opportunity and experience is way better than what she has here... coming from her background. We can only pray and hope she gets a VISA.

Digressing a bit....before u send a 15 yeard ensure she has adequate support system in the US so she not left on her own with no supervision and role models. A lot of cases have turned out not so good because it still a formative age . Once she has a good support system and she constantly checked on then its alright .

We already have a guardianship letter from parents to her guardians in the US signed by a notary public, this was already requested by the intending school.

Hello Amakyzuu. The parents should come with their government-issued IDs. This should be common sense--that whenever you enter a secure, government facility, you should have ID. If there's any portion of the tuition or expenses not covered by the scholarship, the student or parents should show a bank statement or some proof that they can make up the balance.

Good day,
I would like to ask some questions regarding preparation for interview for an F-1 visa for my sister (a minor of 15years).
We have a print out of her I-20 with a detailed full (1-year) scholarship offer from the high school she would attend, her admission letter (scanned and sent by email from the school) and a letter to the consular officer (scanned and sent by email from the school) indicating that she has been accepted as a student and that information regarding her scholarship is on the I-20 form. I would like to know what documents my parents need to get ready for her interview to demonstrate her intentions to study and return to Nigeria for college/University. How can i prepare her for the VO's questions? I do not have any experience at all.

Thank you in advance

I don't understand your confusion. That MBA is part time while you worked full time. It took you about 4yrs to complete right? Even if you'd entered it as full time before ITA, no point is given for full time education so I don't think it matters. Specify it as part time in your eApr, you might include it in your LOE as a mistake you made while filling your express entry forms. Please don't reject ITA, not necessary.
For those who have done ECA. Do they specify what kind of program one did? Because I think claiming PT when the program was FT can lead to misinterpretation if it is stated in the ECA.

A (skilled) tradesperson is someone in a hands-on skilled job that does not require a university degree. Most of the skills are acquired through apprenticeships and a few in some post secondary institutions. E.g. plumber, baker, long haul driver, electrician, technician, cooks, tailor etc.
Do you know anything about getting the skills and certification in Nigeria? Thanks

I am not here to start proving to you if I studied or lived in Canada. Well if you care to know, I am a PR holder of Canada. I live and work in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I don't know if your daft or u just want to argue unnecessarily. I did not undergo an evaluation test. Evaluation test for what? What universities are primarily concerned are the grades u have in your ssce result. Universities in Abroad don't care whether u have Neco or Waec result. During the admission process they look out for grades in your result. For instance, someone with high grades in Neco will be first consider for admission to someone with lesser grade in Waec and vice versa. A lot of peeps are studying in various universities across the globe with their Neco, some even to masters level or PhD. You can't be in 9ja and writes things u don't know about. Y not make a call to any university abroad and inquire from them directly. For peeps that have Neco, feel free to apply for any university of your choice in abroad. Schools here gives everyone a level playing field regardless of whatever ssce result u have.

Hi, I have not applied yet but I have this same problem o. I work full time from 2012 till date and also schooled full time in a different city from 2013 till date. Instead of a 2-year masters, it took 4-years because i had to push courses further. My research also took longer time to finish. I hope they wont misinterpret it too. If possible can I add a LOE explaining the clash even before they notice it.

First I had to write a letter through my dept to the registrar. I payed for my results to be printed in the department. Then I submitted the letter and receipt for transcript payment (2k at the time, it's 5k or so now) in the resistrar's office in the senate building.
