In the Cuba Missile crisis, the USSR were placing tactical offensive weapons on Cuba Soil while lying to the US that the weapons were only defensive.

In this current case, Russia doesn't even have any evidence that the US has missiles in Ukraine. They just attacked ukriane to PREVENT Ukraine from joining Nato.

Another difference is that even when the US realised that the weapons being placed in cuba by USSR were Weapons that can be used to attack the US, the US didn't attack Cuba. They didn't invade Cuba.
